I slept like an angel at The Dominican. Not sure if there were the spirits of the former nuns or priests (this was a convent many many years ago!) or the perennial Gregorian chants in the elevators and corridors...I did sleep like a real angel and I have a morning selfie to prove it! I was beyond excited to get a spot in this hotel for a business trip. So grateful to my colleague who insisted in me staying the night before our meeting in Brussels instead of going directly to another smaller town where we had our meetings. The day/spending night in Brussels at The Dominican was exceptional for me, being right there in downtown, only 5 minutes walk from the train station (took train from airport to there, directly) and then 5 more minutes walk distance to La Grande Place and everything beautiful the unofficial capital of Europe has to offer. The breakfast a bit pricey but they have not only buffet but also do several things a la carte, included in the price. Simply amazing. I enjoyed contemplating very posh people sitting next to me, they looked so in sync with the place (well, I was not too strident but must be the blondness in certain women make them look like they belong to aristocracy:). So this peasant did enjoy the people observing while indulging in the most exquisite breakfast food and drinks. Super friendly service in the reception as well as the restaurant. Going back to the room, I have to note the cool details such the sketchbook paper to write notes or draw something. I took it with me, as well as those teas with funny names 'night with Nancy', and similar:). Very very nice touches that made me feel very comfortable, luxurious and pampered. Also, now I feel the urge to know more about the building, who lived there and what happened to the convent. Excited!

This is definitely one of the nicer hotels in Brussels. The problem is it is difficult to drive to if you have a car. Nearly Impossible to drop your bags off since there is no valet or drive-able road that goes there. The area is a little off the beaten path so I would be careful in the late evening hours. It is walkable to the Grand Place and other attractions. As for the rooms they were pretty clean and laid out well. No complaints. They were also quiet which is key in a hotel room. We spent New Years here at the restaurant where they had a prix fix menu. There is a nice bar in the lobby with a spacious lobby area. Good stay but I wouldn't probably come back due to the location.

This might be the most affordable 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in Europe. Looking for a place to stay near the old historic center of the city in Lower Town our friends found this place online with rooms priced right around 130 Euros per night. The photos on the website made the hotel to appear nice, but I sure didn't expect full on luxury. The minute you walk through the front door, The staff at The Dominican treats each guest like you are a member of the Rolling Stones. The rock star treatment begins right at check in until the day you depart. They make a point of remembering your name and always greet you when you walk in from a long day of beer and chocolate. The rooms are out of this world comfortable. Large inviting beds, updated bathrooms with gigantic showers stocked with every amenity known to man. There is even free wifi for those who for whatever reason feel the need to connect back home. In my mind, this is home and didn't ever want to leave. The restaurant and bar are also excellent. Both are located in different areas of the hotel. The bar faces the street and has a large window facing outside. The bartenders are excellent and can make you one mean cocktail. The restaurant is in the middle of the hotel and faces the courtyard. I would imagine on a warm sunny day you could dine out there, but weather was a tad too chilly for us and we elected to have dinner in the main dining room. The food by the way, is amazing and if you have a chance I would highly recommend you eat there once during your stay. If your travels take you to Brussels and are are looking for a reasonably priced hotel, you need not look any further and book your stay here. One word of caution, book directly with the hotel verses a third party website as your reservation may actually not be honored. But they will match any price you find online.

Excellent hotel! Very clean, comfortable, and stylish. I booked my reservation off of Travelocity. Walking up to the hotel, the outside looks like many of the other buildings in the area. However, just waking in the entryway, you are greeted with iron gates and beautiful candle decor. The lobby is modern and simple, with large windows looking though to the restaurant and a outdoor courtyard. The multilingual staff were accommodating and helpful from the first moment. The hotel room was perfect size, not too small but not allowing for space that would go unused either. The bathroom was what really set this place apart for us. The shower was so relaxing. Stone floor and walls helped keep in the heat when the rainfall shower head (which was huge with great pressure) was on. The lighting and mirrors were placed in perfect areas to help you get ready. And there was no sign of aging or dust anywhere to be found. The air conditioning lacked some, but it was okay because the windows were able to open and let in some cool spring air. There is a gym with a few treadmills, bikes, and eipticals, as well as a sauna and steam room as well. We did not try the restaurant or bar, but if we were here more than two days we would have. The bar looked like a nice place to wind down after a busy day or to start the night off. The locations was perfect too. We walked everywhere. From Brussels Central train station, it's under 10 minutes walking. And same for most all the tourist sites, restaurants, and bars. If we return to Brussels, I don't think I would even bother looking anywhere else. The Dominican is how hotels should be.

Comfort 100/10 Service 10/10 Quality 10/10 Even if you are not sleeping in the hotel you can still drink or eat something. The toilets are super clean with peaceful music. Not so crowded.

Their burger is great and they have a fairly decent breakfast to help you shake off that hangover from all those amazing Belgian beers

Staying at this hotel was one of the best choices I made for my vacation to Brussels Location: Can't be beat. Right in city center of Brussels, next to all of the popular attractions. 90% of everything we saw was within a 20 minute walk of the hotel. Reception My arrival to Hotel Amigo was greeted with the warming charm of the bell hop and reception. It was like they had been waiting for me since the foundation of the hotel and now all their hopes of my arrival had come to fruition. Finally, they had the privilege of attending to my every need; which they certainly would. Room: The rooms are excellent, designed in that sleek, modern contemporary style you expect from Belgium. It's like if Batman wasn't so angry and color monotone. The tech in the room (TV, Phone) were all top notch. Any hotel that allows me to watch Food Network Marathons in English, while munching on a liege waffle in bed is OK in my book. Bathroom: The bathrooms were beautifully done and had one of those high pressure showers that massage you with a intermittent fire hose strength spray if you chose. If I had to pick one gripe with this hotel, it's the shower current/door. They do one of those European style half doors, but it doesn't quite work with such a strong shower head, resulting in quite a bit of water getting outside of the shower. Service: There is nothing negative I could say about the service here. It goes beyond the standard. The personnel in this hotel are so friendly, you'd think they were on drugs (or Canadian). Every request is met with a rapid, high priority response. If something cannot be resolved, they will ensure you have at least the best secondary option at your disposal. The cleaning folks come around all the time. You step out to get a waffle (I ate a lot of waffles), and BOOM, that bed is remade and those clothes are folded when you come back. I swear the reception must be watching you like undercover cops speaking into earpieces to maid service as you leave the hotel; "Big Eagle has just left the nest, go go!". I don't know what else to say. This hotel was great. I'll be staying here every time I'm in Brussels. Oh, and the very best thing? Right across the street from the hotel ....the BEST WAFFLE SPOT EVER!!!!!!!!!

The agent was very friendly and went over the hotel amenities. I had made it up to my King Premium Room, located on the 6th floor. The room was very cozy with plenty of natural light. The view was of a park and near by building. The large bathroom had a separate soaking tub and a shower. The hotel amenities included a fitness centre, lounge and a restaurant, which I didn't utilize. However, they seemed to be very popular with other guests. I would highly recommend this hotel... Our room was large by European standards, quite comfortable, and well equipped. And the service at the front desk, the restaurant, and the M Club was quite good. As Titanium guests, the very tasty breakfast was complimentary and the M Club a lovely refuge w/coffee, beverages, and snacks available 24/7 and in the evening alcohol and light bites including fresh waffles (note that the hotel resolved the issue of a previous reviewer and you now need the correct key card access). Old Town is a delightful pedestrian friendly village within Brussels with many wonderful sights, restaurants, shops that we loved to explore...not to mention the Grand Place and Christmas markets. And the Brussels North train station was a short walk away from which we took a very pleasant train ride to Bruges (I heartily recommend both the train and the town). There were always taxis right outside the hotel - one day we visited the Atomium/World's Fair area and on departure we took one to the TGV at Brussels Midi (since we had luggage). Why 4 stars? Because it was centrally located and certainly unique!…read more --- --- --- This was the final hotel on our 13 days expedition throughout Europe. With our trip coming to an end, we had mixed emotions - it was something we looked forward to for months while planning it, but damn... we were to tired. We walked over 100 miles during our time in various cities, so we were both very excited to get back to a normal life... and Hotel Metropole was our last stop before making that journey. The main lobby area looked much more like a super old school bank, than a hotel. Outside the hotel, there was a ton of construction going on, as they were completely re-doing a very wide road (think small highway-sized.) The person who checked us in provided us with ear buds in case the construction noise disturbed us, but we didn't hear anything from our rooms. Plus, we loved the very centralized location of this hotel - everything was within one mile, which allowed us to walk to everything we had on our itinerary. Our bellhop quickly became my all-time favorite person in his chosen profession. He had our bags and basically went into an all-out sprint to make sure to catch the elevator, but somehow he did this super gracefully. I was wildly impressed. He couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating, as we had a few questions about the area and the room. The room had very high ceilings and a huge bathroom. It wasn't super updated or out-of-date - kind of caught in the middle. The AC was not turned on for our stay on May 9th, which meant that we had to open the window. Not ideal, but this was the norm throughout Europe at this time of year. Breakfast was offered for 9.50 Euros (Express) or 21 Euros (Full) but we didn't have time. We were only here for one night and had a flight to catch in the morning. My biggest complaint was the situation with the shower. When you turned the water on, it came out of both the shower head and the water faucet and there was no way to turn off one or the other. They were either both on or both off. That would have been fine, but the temperature in the water was wildly different. My shower water was warm, but the bath water was scalding. I would have loved the shower water to be hotter, but my feet couldn't handle the bath water to be turned up any more. It had to have been about a 20 degree difference. Other than that, our stay here was great!

This is a beautiful, old hotel with plenty of history and charm. You're greeted by warm colors in…read morethe entryway, which leads to a large lobby and bellboys who leap to help with your bags. An old-fashioned elevator with a sliding scissor gate awaits to transport you to your floor. The room itself does not have quite the same feel as the rest of the hotel. It's extremely outdated, with pale walls and worn-out furniture. We noticed scuff marks on walls, chipped corners on dressers, and a window that almost fell apart as you tried to open it. We stayed here for our honeymoon, and while the location was excellent, the room was anything but romantic. Still, the rest of the hotel does have an old charm that helps make up for the outdated parts. There was also a lot of construction right outside the hotel, so that might be something to keep in mind when planning a stay here. We arrived at Bruxelles Midi and were told we could take the metro and get off at the De Brouckere station, which is just a few steps from the hotel. We had trouble finding it, though, and ended up taking an Uber from the Bruxelles Midi to the hotel, which took approximately 20 minutes.
