Le petit Sablon is proof of less is more.
Here is a very small, but immaculate garden complete with a bit of Belgian history. One thing to love about Belgium or Brussels is all the historical bits and pieces found around the city and with that the art as well.
History bits-- The site was inaugurated in the late 19th century. At the center sits a beautiful monument and fountain. The figures enshrined there are a reminder of the past tyranny of the Spanish. Nothing like some blood to go along with your statues and history and pretty art, right? Of course.
Either way, Le Petit Sablon provides some really nice neo-renaissance style statues for pigeons to chill on, lots of nice benches, and one of the most ornamental parks/gardens I've been to in awhile. Across the street is the Eglise Notre Dame au Sablon which tops it off for some more gothic architectural love. read more
