Re: Katy Reddell Photo @katyreddellphoto…read more I have been following Katy on Instagram for the last seven years. Did you know that she is also a professional photographer? I hadn't taken professional photos since my wedding ten years ago. I always knew that if I took professional family photos, I would want to hire Katy because she also does hair and makeup. I am Gen X and 100% breastfeeding. Who else would be better at capturing breastfeeding than a boudoir photographer? Her prices are reasonable. She's about $1000 cheaper than the other photographer in Austin who also does hair and makeup. We paid $1085 total for two locations which included thirty three edited photos, hair and makeup, and three photo albums. The photo albums are high quality cardboard pages. We used the newborn photos that Katy took to order birth announcements on Shutterfly. We'll use the family photos for our Christmas cards later this year. We plan on hiring Katy again next year!

I had a very subpar experience with Sarah for makeup. During the trial, I found the eyebrow makeup…read moreto be way too heavy handed and unnaturally square (looked drawn on), lip color was very off (muddy grayish-purple) and made me look like a corpse, the eyeliner was not refined and the blush was placed far too low on my face, resulting in a dragged, droopy look. In addition, sparkly blush (not matte) was used, and enhanced every pore on my cheeks. I submitted this feedback in the trial form, as I was told anything can be modified and that they would take my notes into account the day of. Unfortunately, on the day of the wedding, it became clear that none of the notes had been read or followed. The application felt very rushed, and the artist seemed stressed. The exact same makeup techniques as described above were used, and when I wanted to look at the mirror and asked for certain things (minimal brow makeup to avoid a harsh look, brighter lip color), I was met with resistance and frustration on the part of the artist ("just wait till the end, it will come together"). I waited till the end and, unfortunately, had the same outcome. I requested some of the eyebrow makeup be brushed off, but by that time the makeup had already been set with setting spray and was not really budging. Sparkly blush heavily placed low on cheeks again had the same drooping effect. Lip color was very dull and grayish, and I ended up adding some of my own berry lipstick to try and liven it up. Sadly, the wedding photos really amplified all the issues above. The makeup looked heavy handed and unrefined, I didn't feel quite like myself or comfortable in my skin, and I felt disappointed. I am sharing this in the hopes that it might help other brides-to-be: please choose your makeup artist or team carefully, and if something feels off in the trial, definitely go somewhere else- your feedback may never be taken into account.

I did a trial run a month before, and we got to go through several hair styles as well as several make up looks. I know my hubby likes my hair down more than in an up-do, so I simply ended up having my hair curled down to the side with a bejeweled clip--I'm pretty sure it wasn't that simple though, cuz I surely wouldn't have been able to replicate the exact look! It virtually stayed in place the entire night--believe it or not--and by the end, it was still quite presentable (see pic)! She also placed fake eyelashes on all those who had their make-up done. Thanks Michelle!

After speaking with Lecia on the phone, I could tell she was someone I would want to have around while getting ready for the biggest day of my life! She had so much energy and a big personality which I loved. After sending Lecia a few pictures of makeup and hairstyles I liked, I went to Russ & Co. for my trial run/bridal portrait hair & makeup. I was so happy with the results! She asked me for details about my dress, flowers, colors, etc. so that she could have an idea of what makeup would look best and made me look gorgeous. I especially loved the airbrush makeup. I had never used it before and it made my skin look so smooth and not at all cakey or overdone. Lecia was so much fun to have around on my wedding day! She and Deborah showed up ready to do hair and make up for me and my 5 bridesmaids. They kept us all on schedule and had a ton of fun singing along to our wedding day playlist. After seeing how great of a job they did on me and the girls, a few other people asked if Lecia & Deborah could squeeze them in and they got it done without a problem. We were all pretty and ready to go when our limo arrived. I felt so pretty on my wedding day all thanks to Lecia. I am new to the area and am looking for someone who can make me blonde, I only get my hair bleached twice a year to minimize damage. I booked a full foil and consultation so I would have plenty of time, I know my hair is time consuming because it is dark, my roots are long and it requires heat to lift well. After having sent her the pictures of me, so we're clear the expectations were achievable, and talking to her about my desires she began the foiling process. I don't know how it ended up so bad. My highlights are chunky and thick, I like them feathered, stated this to her as well. I spent $285 including a $50 tip, she said she gave me an extra hour, but most of that was spent with me under the heat processing. Also before the appointment she insisted that I let her know if I was not completely happy with the results, most salons will fix it if you let them know promptly, I let her know within 2 days of my appointment and instead of offering to fix it she recommended me to a friend of hers at a different salon. My highlights are thick and chunky and growing out horribly, I am going to have to spend another $200 elsewhere to hopefully have them fixed. I have never had service like this before and am so disappointed in what is seemingly a very nice salon. I have worked at and been a client at high end salons my whole life and have never had a service that wasn't fixed for free. I am genuinely disappointed and will never return. I gave 2 stars instead of only 1 because she as a person was sweet and my hair felt healthy when it was done. Not going to name the stylist, don't want to throw her under the bus but if she reads this she knows. I hope no one else has this kind of experience there. Update: no one reached out, no apology, so incredibly disappointed
