I'm writing this review specifically for Mark. Mark from Attic Construction is extremely professional and really takes his customer service seriously. He made sure to follow up multiple times and ensure that we were getting all of our questions answered in order to make an educated decision on our attic clean-up project. Mark even removed a dead rat that we caught on a sticky trap for us; he really went above and beyond. He stayed with us after evaluating our attic to explain the bid while most of the other attic companies I received quotes from just went in our attic, asked for my email and left (I didn't even look at their bids if they did that to be honest). We didn't ultimately go with Attic Construction as another company came in with a lower bid to remove the insulation, sanitize and rodent proof (the clean-up is what we really didn't want to do due to rodent infestation). We'll be installing our own insulation at a later date after some assessment for future renovations since we're a pretty capable family (and poor ) but if we were looking for someone to install insulation, Attic Construction is who we would go with due to Mark's professionalism and obvious knowledge of how to do the job correctly and affordably. I like that Attic Construction has an electrician on staff as well to install attic fans; other companies did not have this option and we would have had to hire an electrician after. What a NIGHTMARE! Poor Workmanship and Multiple no-shows throughout the job. When I contacted management about these issues, Cory (Office Manager) showed a lack of interest in my concerns. Management fails to return calls or emails to finish work or correct discrepancies. The initial consultation and quote were very professional. The salesman was knowledgeable and assured me the job would be completed in two days. Due to the small attic space, multiple holes in the ceiling were required to remove the old insulation. Service started on August 11 and somewhat finished on September 16. On August 12, one crew member left his supplies (i.e., ladder, plastic material, drywall materials), saying he was grabbing an early dinner. He was supposed to patch several ceiling holes that day but never returned. On August 13, Attic construction attempted to collect full payment believing the job was complete. I notified the individual that the job needed to be completed prior to the final payment. After multiple calls over the next couple of days, someone arrived to collect company materials that one worker had left five days earlier. Eight days later, the drywall ceiling holes were patched. Poor workmanship throughout the project continues to cause problems. Their first attempt at rodent-proofing was sloppy (picture below). Their care for my house was subpar and required a professional cleaning company to clean up and remove carpet stains (picture below). Attic Construction Inc provided this service after I sent management pictures. A junior crew member was corrected by a senior crew member when seen sawing into a support ceiling beam. I confronted the crew member about it potentially getting inspected, and it was disregarded. The company never inspected the support beam for damage and acted as if nothing had happened. I questioned the uneven insulation depth during installation, as the insulation depth was never measured. Rulers were never installed to measure depth in my attic, as described by the company's salesman during the initial consultation. This service can also be seen on their website. The uneven insulation has caused the ceiling to sag in one area, and others have severe spider cracking. After the job was completed and paid in full. I was under the assumption that the job was completed later to find out that old insulation remained within the attic (picture below). Also, the attic was not properly cleaned and sanitized in some areas, as described within the contract (picture below). Aside from the poor workmanship, the company did not value my time. I have called the office to speak with Cory, but the assistants say management is out of the office and will return my call. Calls were never returned. I've waited and waited to hear back from management and have yet to hear back from management. As days passed, I called again in the hopes of speaking to management again to address my standing concerns. Sadly, no supervisor has inspected the job or returned my phone calls to this day. Cory followed up on my previous review and addressed all of our concerns. He brought a new crew out who inspected the attic and found that it was improperly installed the first time by someone who no longer works at the company for obvious reasons. The attic fans were remounted, reconnected and reinspected. The new crew was thorough, respectful, didn't leave behind any dirt or dust and left things undamaged. They spent a significant amount of time ensuring my husband and I were satisfied with their workmanship and that things were in order and passed our inspection. My husband and I are very pleased that Cory got in touch with us and rectified what was previously a very ugly situation. read more

We had Attic Construction install ceiling insulation in our home in late January 2019. Our gas and electric bills dropped dramatically. We were generally very happy although there were some minor issues with the install. Today however we found the job had more problems than we had thought. We have HVAC maintenance agreement so spring the AC is checked, and fall the heater. The tech opened the attic and informed me the installers had blown insulation completely burying the heater! He took pictures and showed me. I could see maybe 1 inch of the top face. Not good, but it got worse. He cleared the heater, opened it and found insulation inside the unit. Fire hazard much? It's a wonder we didn't lose the house after this install. After 8 months I doubt there is anything financially to be gained by complaining, but If you hire this company, urge you to check their work if you possibly can. At this point, I wouldn't give them my business again. Update: I was contacted by Nate from AC in less than an hour after posting. He was extremely concerned and came to see us today and verify the HVAC tech had properly cleared the blown insulation (he had.) Had my my attic insulation redone a few years back. It wasn't until the following summer that I noticed a lot of heat coming from the ceiling. When I went into the attic I discovered that they missed the outer 4 feet the entire perimeter of the house. I've been trying to get them to fix this for three years. Several emails, dozens of phone calls, appointment no shows and when they finally come out they wanted to charge $950 even though I originally purchased a warranty on their work. Their rates were completely reasonable when compared to all the online calculators/estimators and we booked that day. Jason was great at explaining the scope of care and what to expect regarding literally everything (crew brief at the warehouse, arrival estimates based on expected traffic, order of operations and estimated completion). The office called 2 days prior to confirm the appointment, with a detailed message that matched my expectations. Humberto called the day of the job as planned, giving me an updated arrival time that matched with what Jason had told me. They called on arrival and were some of, if not THE MOST professional crew I've had the pleasure to work with - no, definitely the best and most professional interaction I've had ever. Long story short, my house is cleaner than when they started, I finally have quality insulation professionally installed and I couldn't be happier. The previous homeowner had laid down multiple sheets of plywood walkway/storage area that they were awesome enough to get rid of for me. He was on time and honest about what needed to be done. He told me that for my situation, I could do it myself for just a few hundred dollars. If I did want the same full job, it would only be $3,500 - but given that the attic size is only 10% of the house size, it's not cost efficient. I originally contacted Attic Construction about having the floor of my attic finished so that I could have a place to store extra boxes. Upon inspection I was informed that all of my insulation should be replaced as it was very old and not able to do it's job well due to compression over time. I was given a quote on how much it would be to remove all the old insulation and replace it with more updated materials. Though the quote was a lot more than what I was expecting given what I had initially wanted done, I decided it was a good time to go forward with having everything replaced. We just purchased a new roof so the attic was rodent proofed. Honest Guy! Note this Company is the third quote we've received this week. We contacted Attic Construction to get a quote to have our attic cleaned out, animal proofed, and reinsulated. Jason came by on time and spent around 15 minutes assessing the attic and taking measurements. I already knew the attic was a mess from years of rodent activity coupled with 30 year old 'insulation', but Jason was confident the they could clean up the mess and restore the attic space. The quote was in line with market rates for insulation and the cleanup price seemed fair given what was going to be required. Jason took the time to thoroughly explain the company's process and answered all our questions. We scheduled the attic restore then and there for the up coming Friday. Unfortunately, the Thursday job our team was working on wasn't completed, but Jason reached out Early Friday to ask if they could reschedule. We took the following Monday appointment. On Monday, Humberto, Jorge, and Jesus arrived at the scheduled time and immediately assessed the job site and began setting up. They prepped the area below the attic very well to prevent the hoses from damaging the walls and from foot traffic. Jorge and Jesus began the cleanup while Humberto completed the external animal proofing. The cleanup took a bit longer than anticipated, and the reinsulation ran until around 7:30pm. Even though it was a long day, the team never seemed rushed and when I inspected the attic with Humberto everything looked great. Unfortunately, that night a pesky rat either found a new way in or was trapped. We contacted Attic Construction the next day, and they sent a technician, Victor, over a few days later. He reinspected the perimeter and found a few other possible entry points that he sealed up. I haven't heard any activity since, but I am confident the company will honor the warranty and come back out of needed. Wow! I have been impressed with this company since the moment I first visited their website. I submitted a contact form on the website for an estimate to clean out my crawl space. Within 2 minutes, I received a call from a friendly and professional rep there who helped me schedule my free estimate. Cory arrived 3 days later to thoroughly inspect our crawl space. Attic Construction is a really good find here. I can't say it enough. The moment I phoned in--to the end of my service--I feel like the sheer quality and trustworthiness of every single person I've interacted with has been a cut above the rest. No joke at all. From Rachel who helped me figure out their services to Cory who gave me an honest opinion about trying find attic access, immediately I felt a sense of relief that there seemed to be a general confidence and competence to what they offered that wasn't just trying to upsell me willy nilly and without reason. It was honest, they explained their price point clearly--it was more than fair and scheduling was easy. Cory even recommended that by going elsewhere I could save a little, but that they were a licensed and bonded company. And that even though it was clear it wasn't the largest job, they'd send an employee out who could help. We for the life of us had close to a dozen different contractors this past year and two home inspectors during our escrow who literally told us there was no attic access and that we would eventually need to hire someone to cut a scuttle entrance. So by the time I called Attic Construction (almost a year later after closing), and given their specialty, I had desperately hoped for their specific expertise on how to gain access to my attic. They sent Jake Sheiner who I can vouch that this guy not only knew what he was doing, he offered to cut a scuttle entrance on the spot after helping us investigate every nook, cranny and corridor. Flabbergasted at how easy and seamless his intuition was, I couldn't believe it took us a year and a slew of people who could not provide us any insight into our attic entrance. Jake found history of probable service going through the air intake that was installed without an obvious hinge or entrance even he too thought was unusual. He discovered the 're-used' screw holes and deduced this was most likely where the attic entrance was most commonly being accessed, and it's proximity to the furnace. This was all in the first 20 minutes. He did a normal inspection after realizing he didn't need to a cut a hole in our ceiling after all. We were made aware of a lack of insulation in our 1950s built bungalow. There were clearly mouse droppings, dead rodents (gross and unfortunately) and areas that needed rodent proofing. He let us know the value but didn't pressure us and continued through the attic inspection. After my scheduled service, I got new attic insulation, a total clean out, a sanitation in the crawl space/foundation area and attic, and of course rodent proofing. David, the crew lead, literally just left hours ago. The team I got today were conscientious, kind, and set up a truly incredible 'clean zone', taped corridors, tarped areas. They sanitized my crawl space, picked up, debris, dead bugs, and used cleaning materials. It really was great! Out the door, had I had to do all of that on my own and not have had the knowledge they all had, it would've been impossible to get access to my attic or enter our crawl space comfortably. And now I have new attic insulation to boot which will help with HVAC heating and cooling costs given how hot it's been this year. Stumbled upon this group, and walked away getting way more for what I had expected and my peace of mind. Like I said, a cut above the rest! 10/10 would recommend. I may even call them back literally to see who else they work with in town because of the few people I feel I can trust these days. Not kidding. Overall, I'm pretty disappointed in the service received from Attic Construction. The initial gentleman that came out for the quote seemed super knowledgeable and helpful and offered me 10% off if they could start the very next day (as it was close to Christmas, and I think they were slow at the time) so I signed a contract the same day. Halfway through the day of the project, when they were already sealing up the insulation holes, I realized they had skipped insulating an entire wall without saying anything to me about it. I confirmed with the person I received the quote from, that all 4 walls had been included in the quote. The project manager at the house proceeded to tell me that they didn't do the 4th wall because they didn't have the right tool, but if I still wanted it insulated, they could come back the next day. It felt like they were trying to pull a fast one on me and see if they could get away with not doing it, to see if I just wouldn't notice or know enough to ask. I told him that of course I wanted it done and confirmed that there would be no extra cost involved. They came back the next day and did HALF of the 4th wall (which I didn't notice until later because I work from home and had been very busy) and when I went to pay, the project manager had no idea that I'd been offered 10% off and asked if I could do 5% instead since they had to come back the second day. I declined, of course, but felt again, like they were trying to take advantage of a single mom (would they have asked a man if they could UP the price when he went to pay? I'm guessing not). The PM said they would contact me to come back to do some touch up painting which became even more obvious in the days after as paint started to peel where they painted too quickly after mudding, and as it dried you could see that they didn't cut in along the ceiling or trim at all - they are different colors. No one ever contacted me, so I called and scheduled with them to come for the paint work between 10-1pm, and they were a no-show. I called to check on their status, and they said they'd be there by 2pm instead. Also, a no-show. I finally had to cancel because I had to go get my kids from school and couldn't wait around for them anymore. Overall, I feel taken advantage of and like I overpaid for what I got (3 1/2 walls insulated with shotty paint work and poor communication). read more

I hired Attic Construction to add insulation to my attic. After a termite treatment by another company I was alerted to the fact that I had very little insulation in my house. Adam came to my house, took pictures and gave me an estimate on how much it would be to clean out, sanitize and insulate my attic, he was available to me by phone when I had many questions. I hired the company and was impressed with the group that came out to my house. Jeffrey was the site leader and Luis, Enrique, Pedro and Fidel were the guys that came with him. I liked that they took time to keep my house clean and the walls protected. Before they started we checked all of the air duct vents and light switches to make sure they would all be in working order when they left. I was able to look at my attic at the end of each step ( and they took pictures). At first I couldn't believe how yucky and trash filled my attic was, (no contractor is ever going to leave stuff in my attic again)! There was one drywall break and the company took full responsibility and sent a dry wall guy to fix it who went above and beyond to fix the breakage. Andrew did a wonderful job in making sure my house looked just like it did when the crew started the job. If you are looking to have a clean attic with new insulation look into this company. I had wanted to replace the insulation in my attic for quite some time now. The original wood shingle roof was torn off in 1999 (a few years before I bought the house) and there was so much old roofing debris and dirt up there. Truly disgusting. In March of 2023 I had to call a rodent control company to remove a family of rats (13 total) that had settled in to make my attic and AC/Heating ducting their new home. After eradicating the rats and subsequent replacement of all the ducting it seemed the perfect time to have an insulation contractor remove and replace all the fiberglass batts and also fill any voids in my attic that could only be seen once the insulation was completely removed. By June of 2023 I had three contractor bids; I narrowed the choice down to Attic Construction. Their bid was in the middle of the range but I was impressed with Nick and how he explained the benefits of hiring his company. Photo documentation of the entire process, in house work crews (not subcontracted) and a guarantee that they stand behind all their work. What I also liked was that in addition to being a Cal State licensed insulation contractor they're also a Class B General Contractor too. I'll concur with the other reviews as to the process itself; the crew led by Tony absolutely worked their tails off in completing the job in about 11 hours. These gentlemen work hard and were diligent in getting the job completed. The following week I noticed that one of the bathroom fan ducts had become dislodged from the roof vent, most likely bumped by one of the crew during the install. A text to Nick and within an hour and he was at my front door. He reconnected the duct to the roof vent promptly. THAT says so much about this company and it's employees and how they take care of their customers. It just goes to show you. In the Service Industry it all comes down to the service and service depends on satisfied employees working together as a team. Needed to get the fiberglass out of the attic. It was killing me slowly due to respiratory problems. Today a crew of four were sent to pull and bag in place, vacuum and sanitize. Then replace the barbaric fiberglass with rock wool. They worked solid all day long. Even more important they worked happy all day long. I became worried that they were not going to be able to stand the fiber in the air, but they had each other's backs and checked to make certain everyone stayed healthy. Couple of challenges popped up, like they do in every project, each was settled in my favor even though it was clearly not quite policy and some serious re-engineering had to happen.
