First, the house was A MESS when we moved in. We asked during the walk through if it would be cleaned and the realtor (Holly) said she had already done enough. We asked about the filthy rugs and she said she had vaccumed them and that the owners wouldn't be willing to do anything else. There was literally mouse poop on the kitchen floor and they just suggested to get an exterminator. Should've walked away when we had the chance. Landscaping and snow removal were included in the lease, but then we were told landscaping wasn't actually going to be included because we had a dog. Ok, then winter came. One.. two.. three snow storms and no one ever came to plow our driveway as planned. We reached out to the owner, who was obviously out of the loop, and she tried to track them down. Of the 10 times it snowed, not once did a plow person show up. After we called and emailed, they showed up once at 6pm... we had already shoveled our cars out. The refrigerator wasn't working when we moved in, also. Apparently it had been unplugged with a bunch of ice inside, which melted and then refroze.. blocking the vent to the fridge part. It took SEVEN DAYS for it to be fixed. Not the best first week in a new place. Especially after paying to have the rugs cleaned and cleaning the entire house ourselves. A few weeks later, the oven starting stinking of gas and we weren't able to use it. This time it took over 2 weeks to get a new oven. (Lotsss of take out our first month there) To top it off, Holly told us the statement of condition/walk through wasn't something they did, and never put our deposit in an interest bearing account (both MA state laws). When we moved out, the owners tried to have us pay for the rugs to be cleaned and didn't want to refund our deposit. The house also had a history of lead/Deleading, but the realtor didn't have any of the paperwork. I had to track down someone from the town's office for the inspection report, and I also had another inspection completed for piece of mind. For charging a $500 realtor fee, you'd think they would do something, anything, told hold up their own responsibility in renting out a unit. They didn't even follow standard state laws. I definitely don't recommend working with this group.

I understand having a strict application process. I understand being thorough and wanting to make…read moresure that a person is trustworthy, before entering into a lease agreement with that particular person. However, there is a line between being thorough and just being unreasonable. Sears property has crossed that line. When we first viewed the property with one of there agents, they were extremely pleasant, if not a little informal, which i appreciated. We fell in love with the apartment, and the neighborhood so we applied. Our application wasn't accepted, because we didn't pass their credit check. Every credit check i do always shows that I have above average credit, borderline good credit. So I don't know how i didn't pass this part of their credit check. When i inquired as to why i was rejected as an applicant that's when the fun began. They wouldn't even tell me what kind of credit score they were looking for. The Sears representative again and again stone walled me. Refusing to provide me with any information on why I was rejected. They refused to provide me with any information, and just recited that they have a strict policy. Now I asked if we could work something out. Its customary for rental agencies to request a double security or an extra months rent for someone with a questionable credit history. I offered a second security, i even offered several months rent before moving in. No matter what I offered or suggested their representative remained apathetic and really unhelpful. It became clear that they didn't want us to rent from them. My fiance and I really loved the apartment and were really hoping to work something out. However, the staff remained uninterested and unreasonable. I would understand if they showed a little customer service and just explained why they couldn't work with us. But, all I got was uninterested and poor customer service.

I bought a house from them almost two years ago and still have MANY issues that have not been addressed. Also, they will use the cheapest materials they can find. I hired a lawyer and he told me he uses shell LLC's so you can sue him but he'll just move the money around so you'll spend $10,000 trying to get $1000 from him because he is known to do that. I had a great time living in my unit for 2 years. You can't get anything close to this or as nice…read morein the Boston area. I believe my rent to start was $1150 and the second year it was $1255 for a 1 bedroom. It was quiet during my first year but this year it got louder with more small kids moving in and dogs. The grounds are kept very clean and management lets everyone know when cars need to be moved for plowing, when grass is being treated, when unauthorized non- residents are violating the pool, and on occasion theft. There's assigned parking however, the second yr the newer residents starting parking in my spot a lot and causing me to have dents on my passenger door. The laundry rooms could be a lot better. There's constantly dog hairs/fur in the machines, yuck! However there is a way through an app to alert the company when a machine is malfunctioning which happened sometimes and I swear it's because of all the dog hairs clogging up the system. Unfortunately there is only 2 spots to reload the balance on your laundry card. I had suggested multiple times that all the laundry rooms should be able to have a reload card system. My first year there was an ice cream truck that would come every Friday but the second year that disappeared. Both summers the pool opened up late well after Memorial Day and 4th of July. Then the pool would close early for the season so if you're lucky you might get 6 weeks out of it. The BBQ area is only available on the other side of the complex so bring a Wagon or drive to the BBQ area but then you'll have to travel back to your unit away to use the rest room. Hardly no one uses the basketball court or tennis court and maybe they should consider converting those into BBQ areas as well. The CONS: There are hidden fees and they rush you out the unit even if you tell them you're buying a house and need a few more days or weeks, nope they don't give a damn. They offer to hike your rent up $400, from $1255 to $1600 for no reason. It's not like you're asking for extra square footage. Your lease ends you better find a safe place to sleep in your car or secure an AirBnB.
