    Medium buffalo boneless wings
    Daniel B.

Stopped in to try this new addition to Fresh Meadows, and got ten boneless wings. Figured the best way to get a feel for the menu was to try 5 sauced and 5 dry rubbed, so we did 5 medium buffalo and 5 truffle garlic parm. The buffalo wings were good - not necessarily phenomenal but I don't think you expect that from a place like Atomic Wings. The dry rubbed garlic parm felt very greasy and not well coated in seasoning, so I'd definitely stick to sauced wings next time around.

New Atomic Wings on 188th St

The Chicken Competition in Fresh Meadows is getting fierce with Atomic Wings opening on 188th St directly, face-to-face across the street from Dave's Hot Chicken. By my count, there are easily a half dozen other chicken joints opened up within a 5 block radius and that doesn't even count the fast food joints that also have chicken sandwiches on their menus. I have to give credit to Atomic for a big chicken sandwich with a nicely fried white-meat chicken fillet, which is an inch thick and sticks out an inch on both sides of the bun. The chicken is moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The Classic sandwich is topped with an aioli and plenty of pickles. There are also other flavors like BBQ, Buffalo and the Nashville Hot, which is in direct, in-your-face competition with Dave's Hot and they undercut them in price also. The combo meal comes with a choice of fresh-cut fries or waffle fries (+$0.50) and 20 oz bottle drink, which isn't a bad deal. I'll have to come back for some wings (regular boned & boneless) and tenders, which also come in Nashville Hot. There is a chart by the side of the register that shows 12 different sauces ranging from mild to scorching in terms of spiciness. I will make it my mission to try them all like on "Hot Ones", but not sure if I'll make it alive to "Nuclear".

The customer service was great. I forgot her name but what a pleasure. You don't get that kind of welcome much anymore. Food was good. Waffle fries are an extra 50 cents. I'll be back to try other flavors.

Mango habanero wings and loaded fries

Atomic wings has always been a favorite of mine. Always compared wings from other places to atomic wings. Beyond happy they opened here in Fresh Meadows. The food was just like I remember. Excellent quality. Made to order. Staff was super friendly and I met the owners on the way out. Great people. Wings were a 10/10. Might gain a few extra pounds from how often I plan to visit but it's worth it.

The neatly lettered menu board has all the Italian classics and originals to get on a roll or hero. We don't call them wedges or grinders or hoagies in Queens. AY! It's a Hee-Ro! You slice open a long crusty loaf, pack it with meat, cheese and dressing and that's a sandwich! On my way home, I come over the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, hang a left onto 14th Ave and get parking across the street. I'm looking at the sausage & peppers or maybe chicken, eggplant, meatball or shrimp parmigiana, but then I spy the Anti-Chicken Parm and I'm drooling for it on a hero. The promise of that sandwich was delivered in the chicken cutlet with vodka sauce & mozzarella and layered with salty, meaty prosciutto. Mmm-Mm, what a great sandwich. As tasty as the sandwich was, it is on the pricey side, so I'm not going to be doing an $18 sandwich every day of the week, even though one hero could feed 2 people. I know I'll be back soon enough, though.

You also get the option of "4 sauces" with your order, which you can get on your sandwich or on the side (for free!) I love extra sauce, so this option is really great. I ended up opting for their spicy mayo which tasted good with the bulgolgi. The meat, bread and everything was 5/5. The banh mi is filling, satisfying and definitely more than enough for a hearty lunch. This was my first time trying the Flushing location, and was very pleasantly surprised!

The portions are generous enough that a single sandwich can genuinely feel like more than one meal's worth of food. The banh mi is the main reason to come, and the pork versions are where the kitchen shines most. We ordered the caramel pork, which is worth it. The meat is cut down into small pieces that pick up flavor throughout and create a layered bite alongside the pickled vegetables. The tofu banh mi holds up well as a vegetarian option and carries a gingery, carrot forward flavor that works. The bread leans toward a softer, thicker cut rather than the thin, crackling crust of a more traditional Vietnamese version, but it still holds the fillings well without getting soggy. Service is fast and the overall experience is quick. The staff moves efficiently and our order came out in good time, which makes it a reliable option for a workday lunch when you do not have much time to spare. The banh mi travels well if you are taking it to go, and the packaging keeps everything intact. It is a good spot for a filling, well priced lunch that does not require much planning beyond showing up. We would come back for the caramel pork banh mi and appreciate that we can be in and out without sacrificing quality or portion size. For a quick, satisfying Vietnamese sandwich in the area, JoJu delivers exactly what it promises.
