I might need a touch up but MIKE PAIN was great. I can't believe his last name is PAIN. if i had known my scaredy cat-ness would have gone up times 10. It hurt a little and that is it. So I will go back for my next one/two. Glad to know that I was the first one to get the Man in the Maze tatt at Atomic. :) read more

Added to my body art on Tuesday. After getting together with the lovely Cameo and a friend visiting from Belgium, two bottles of champagne and some sesame sticks, we all decided a lovely time of female bonding would be to go get tattoos together (my kind of ladies!). We headed over to Atomic Tattoo where David listened to us gab and go on for about 3 1/2 hours and we ended up with exactly what we wanted and it was done fabulously. Thanks David! read more

Update: I am updating my last review to demonstrate how insanely impressed I am with this location. I only use Mike Pain as my artist, so I admittedly cannot speak about the talents of the other artists. However, I CAN speak about their professionalism, courtesy, and ability to make their clients feel assured. I was greeted by numerous artists when I walked in, quite a few would strike up conversation if they walked by and noticed I was experiencing discomfort, and even when I was paying, the courtesy continued. Any establishment would benefit from mirroring the client experience that this location of Atomic Tattoo provides. (I'll post pictures when the tattoo is less....fresh) read more

I took my girls here due to several recommendations and a girlfriend took her daughter last week... when I showed up I had scans of their birth certificates. I was rudely told they had to be physical copies. Ok, that is my bad- but then I was told I had to have an ID for them also, could be school id passport etc. My friend only gave birth certificates, and dshs and other piercing places I called say we only need birth certificate by law. It felt weird and I was pretty annoyed at the discrepancies. I wouldn't waste my time assuming why I was treated differently, but do know I'll take my business elsewhere... read more

I highly recommend getting your next piercing with Leo. When I got my left lobe pierced (two years ago) I remember feeling so much pressure and heat around the area. This time I went to get my right lobe done and omg, it felt like a small little scratch, I was very impressed. I honestly expect it to feel pain/pressure, but I didn't at all. read more

My wife and I decided to get matching tattoos for our anniversary. We went to Atomic Tattoo on Burnet Rd. Mike Pain did our tattoos. A consummate professional. Did a beautiful job for us. My wife had never done a tattoo before, but Mike was so understanding and easy to talk to he calmed her concerns. Thank you, Mike, for a great job. We are very proud of our tattoos. We highly recommend Mike Pain at Atomic Tattoo If you are considering a tattoo. Mike Pain is simply the best. read more

I have been coming to atomic tattoo since my first tattoo on my 18th birthday years ago. My tattoo artist is Ben and he is the bomb. He is fantastic, you should definitely take a look at his book. He is very laid back, has a pretty light hand and does great work. I have also gotten most of my piercings here, the pierces are always very funny and comforting. I have many tattoos but piercing a still get to me and make me very anxious. I have never left that shop disappointed or upset. I love this shop the most out of all the atomic tattoos in Austin because of such a great atmosphere and I will continue to go here for many years in the future. I came in for my 2nd tattoo. Paolo was amazingly patient and professional in listening to what I was looking for. Scheduling was easy, and the tattoo itself turned out amazing. I had a 2nd return visit to refresh an older tattoo I wanted refreshed and left equally thrilled. Couldn't recommend him higher. read more

For being my first time in a tattoo/ piercing shop to say the least i was extremely nervous. I wish I could give this store 10 stars! Before getting my tattoo at Atomic, I had been going to Platinum ink right down the road. That was a total waste of time and money. The guys at Atomic TOTALLY changed my perspective towards the tattoo process. Travis is the awesome dude who tatted my arm, and ROCKED it! He was super clean (equipment and art-wise) and very friendly. The vibe in the shop itself was very welcoming. Atomic is a true tattoo parlor, and I don't think I'll go anywhere else for a tattoo. KAYLA is amazing. Got my walk up septum done here and she was very comforting and sweet. She is perfect at her job!

Super bummed. Went inside to buy jewelry, and inquire about a tattoo. I was inside for almost 15 minutes. No one greeted me or asked if I needed help. I was stabding there like an idiot. So I left. This place came so highly recommended! What a shame. read more

GO TO ALL SAINTS TATTOO SHOP INSTEAD! It's the next plaza over. If i could i would give zero stars. Very unprofessional staff. My friends and I were about to spend a good amount of money here, glad we didn't!

I went to the 183 location and asked if they could stretch my ears and they said the Burnet location could. I called them to ask if they had the right size jewelry and the guy on the phone said they did. When I got there they didn't have the size I needed but tried to convince me to size up 3 sizes instead. He also tried to sell me two matching pieces that were completely different sizes. Please next time someone calls to ask what you have in stock, just be up front and honest about it. Thanks. read more

Mike did an AMAZING job. My chest piece is beautiful, healed perfectly and I love it. I get so many compliments. He was very clean and professional plus we had a nice conversation over the 5 hours I was in his chair. When I am ready for more work on my sleeve, I will be back. I moved to TX from Philadelphia where I had the AMAZING Alexandra Fische as my artist, and I definitely am happy I found Mike to continue my tattoo collection here in Texas. I will say that the chest HURTS SO MUCH! I am heavily tattooed and this was the only one that hurt so far, not the artist fault, but if you are a tattoo newbie, don't get a chest piece just yet LOL read more

Anna has done some beautiful tattoos for me, and I have absolutely no complaints about her or her work. Also, the guy who works up front on Saturdays is always helpful and friendly. My only complaint about this location is how noisy it gets, especially on a Saturday night. Everyone playing their own music on top of all the noise from all the people talking was too much for my delicate sensibilities! read more

I just need to give a shout out to this place. Came in last night for ear piercings. I've been wanting a 2nd hole for awhile and knew I didn't want some piercing stand in a shopping center to do it. I've been meaning to stop into a shop back home but honestly it's a bit intimidating walking into a well respected tat parlor asking to just get my ears pierced. So happy my girlfriend recommended Atomic. (Andy?) who pierced my ears was amazing and his work is on point. He wasn't annoyed at all that I was only getting a measly ear piercing, he spent time making them line up perfectly and walked me through the process which was virtually painless. Thanks guys! read more

They were absolutely rude. We were not helped at all. The way they acted was just rude as well. I do not think anyone should go there if you're looking for anything. I had the BEST experience at atomic tattoo. Randy Vitullo killed the game. Not only am I in love with my tattoo- but the whole experience. Randy took his time to make it exactly what I wanted & made it my own. Then when I was feeling a little light headed (I'm going to be honest- I'm a little bit of a baby when it comes to pain) not just one, not just two but 3 guys came to assist me in feeling better. Putting out a cot for me to lay on, bringing me water, a couple suckers and a cold towel. Randy was patient with me and was just a great guy. I absolutely will be returning and requesting him. read more

Mike Pain finished a second session on our second tattoo together in three years. I waited a long time to get a tattoo, and I went to Mike because he's done so much work on my son and his friends. Mike is a consummate professional. He listens to my ideas and makes work that is unique and aesthetically pleasing. His color sense is exceptional. He has such a great hand in his work. While I can't say either of my tattoos has been Pain-free, they've been comfortable experiences. If you want original work, or if you have a concept that you want help fleshing out, go see Mike. It will be the best investment you can make. Atomic on Burnet is a lovely shop. At first I was a little uncomfortable going to a tattoo shop. I had no idea what to expect. The people are terrific. I have always been at ease within minutes. The new location is open and filled with light. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND BURNET LOCATION! Went to the south location two days ago to get a nose piercing and jewelry ended up being too small. Called south location and was told to come to burnet location because they had a piercer on staff and we called burnet to make sure they would be available. We let them know we were coming from Kyle (40 minute drive) and they said as long as we show up before 11 that it would only take a couple minutes. We got here at 10:50 and they said to wait and they said they would get through everyone on the list. The piercer finally came out after about 20 minutes and said they were only taking two more people and that everyone else had to leave even though we made sure to call ahead and make sure that it would be taken care of. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND HAD A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AND WILL NOT BE BACK. read more

This review is for Mr Incompetent, Ben DiPietro. How unprofessional it is to agree to meet a potential client and not show up to the appointment? Apparently Ben thinks it's ok to waste people's time. I don't know if Mr. Incompetent is an employee or an independent contractor at this shop, but it's completely unacceptable to waste people's time. read more

All the people here are great, top notch studio. Olaf in particular is a fantastic artist. He took over a partially done tattoo on my upper arm and turned it into a bad ass sleeve. Mostly hand drew the whole thing on my skin except for a few small elements. He does amazing work. I've gotten to know him outside of tattooing also and he is a great guy. A laid back, easy to talk to, kind and generous person who likes to help people and ride motorcycles faster than any sane person would :) Definitely highly recommend his work, and I am proud to call the man a friend. read more

MIKE PAIN is AMAZING I came in with an idea of a tattoo and he worked with me on it and helped design an amazing piece of art. I've been torn for a long time on whether I should write this review or not. See, I love Atomic Tattoo and my artist. He's great, but I don't want his schedule to be so clogged he won't have time to see me anymore! But, alas, an artist's resume is based on his work and his work is too good to keep all to myself. The first time I went into Atomic, I happened to get Mike Pain as my artist. I knew exactly what I wanted and he gladly did the work for me. I've heard that tattoo artists don't like tattooing on feet. When asked about it, Mike just smiled, shrugged and said it was his job to give me what I wanted and was a happy to do the tattoo. Wow, a happy tattoo artist. One that isn't too damned cool to just come out and say he loves his job and the opportunity to do it! Mike chatted me up during the whole process and made me feel as comfortable as I could feel while a complete stranger had my fugly foot in hand. He often asked if I was feeling ok and if I needed a break. It was nice to know he was concerned and not just trying to do the work as quickly as possible to push me out the door and onto the next paying customer. When I decided to get my next tattoo (cause, really, who has just one), I easily knew who I was going to. This time, I knew what I wanted but wasn't sure on placement, coloring, and quite a few other factors that Mike brought to my attention. We sat and discussed the piece in depth and by the time he laid needle to skin, I was reassured I had chosen the right guy for the job, yet again! Now with the other foot in hand, Mike began asking me questions pertaining to the last time I was getting tattooed (SIX MONTHS AGO). Whoa! This guy actually remembers me! What is this? The Andy Griffith Show? Am I in the barber shop in Mayberry? It felt like me and a friend catching up on our lives! The next tattoo I got, I battled and struggled with. I knew exactly what I wanted, but when I took it to Mike, he shot me down. "It just won't look right. And I won't do a bad tattoo". Ouch. Ok, I had to look at it from his perspective. And he was right. Mike and I went back and forth on how to get exactly what I wanted, and something he would be proud that he had inked. It took no less than one month, 5 visits, and 8 drawings and we finally had the right piece. And the only thing Mike got paid for was the actual tattoo session. All the hard work (dealing with me) leading up to it was all on his dime. Now that, my friends, is someone devoted to his work! As with before, he remembered me and we had nice conversations mixed with him making sure I was comfortable and didn't need a break. Ahhh, customer service! I really can't wait till the next chance I get to work with Mike Pain on something spectacular and truly unique for myself. I've found the one for me, at least as far as tattoo artists are concerned. And, I guess, I grudgingly don't mind sharing him... read more

If you are a complete square who wants to get a tattoo because you are coming up on a certain landmark birthday and you want to prove you are still wild and crazy, this review is for you. Atomic Tattoo is a great place to go for the complete newbie. Before I went, I called and talked with one of the staff who was very nice and patient with all my questions - cost (depends), can you do an image I bring in (yes), how long does it take (depends), can I bring people to watch (yes), etc. A few days later, I showed up as a walk-in (with three others with me for moral support) and gave them the Chinese character I wanted tattooed on my hip. An artist worked with me and the copier to resize the image several times to get it exactly the right size, and gave me good suggestions on placement. Then when all was decided upon, he made a stencil of the image, filled out the state-required form, checked my ID, took my money ($70), and we were off to the tattoo room where the artist showed me all the equipment (in sterile packs) and explained what he would do. He rubbed the stenciled image on me and then it was off to the races. So, was it painful? Yes. It was actually far more painful than I had expected. It isn't that the process hurts so much every second, it's that you have to endure it for a long time - 15 minutes in the case of my one little Chinese character. That's a really long time when you are getting a tattoo. The end result was really quite nice. The image's edges were crisp, there was no distortion in the image, and it was uniformly filled in. I'm glad I did it, but I'm NEVER doing it again. Ouch. The session ended with thorough instructions on how to care for the tattoo over the next few weeks (wash with soap and water, use lotion to keep it from drying out, etc). All in all, a professional, informative visit from start to finish. I'm sure that there are other good newbie-friendly tattoo places in town, but Atomic worked for me. Oh, and by the way, don't take any pain medication before you go - many drugs thin the blood and I was told you'll bleed more during the process if you do. read more

I am abit confused by the buisness model of this place. In fact I am a lot confused by the buisness model of this place. Me and six of my closest friends show up one Sunday afternoon all excited about at least 5 of us getting tattoos. One of my party proudly displays her tattoos on her arms as we walk in. We shout hello and are acknowledged asthough they plan to get to us soon. So after about 30 + minutes waiting in an empty store we decide to head down the street to another tattoo place. I assume they want customers here, but maybe not. I assume that if they were closed, that the door would be closed or that they would tell us. Do I assume too much? read more

Came here yesterday to get my ears re-pierced. First of all, the place is SUPER clean. Cool decoration and smells nicely. Way better than I expected, actually. Felt pretty lame coming in to get my ears pierced, but they didn't bat an eyelash. Justin asked what kind of jewelry I wanted, had me sign a form, and had my ears re-pierced within 15 minutes. The process was (relatively) painless and super quick. Didn't have an appointment, just walked-in. read more

Mike Pain is the BEST!!! The professionalism and customer service (a hard thing to come by in the tattoo industry) was so refreshing that I can't stop going back.
