Atomic Tattoo - Burnet Rd

Do we have to make an appointment to get a tattoo?

Have to? No. But it is beyond a good idea to find an artist you like and make an appointment with them. Each person has their own style, which may or may not align with yours. Plus the more accomplished artists are generally pretty booked up.

How much is a nose piercing?

Does your shop have a shop minimum and anyone who will do white ink tattoos!?

Parking was an absolute nightmare so I would recommend taking a rideshare to get to this location. When someone talks about tattoo shops in Austin, All Saints is definitely one of those mentioned almost every time. The tattoo/piercing shop has wonderful reviews and a ton of happy patrons. The vibe in this space is very lowkey and homey. We were the first ones in for the day. My best friend and I wanted to get complementary tattoos. We only wanted three words in Seagram each with my best friend getting hers in black and me getting mine in red. We were told it would cost extra for red ink. Fine. After the woman working the front took the stencil print-outs to the artists, she came back and quoted us $200 each. What? We were shocked. I knew the tattoo wouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes and did not understand how my friend was quoted the same as me if "red is extra." Thus, I came to my own conclusion that pricing is completely random and up to the artist. I guess it's a game of luck? That being said, Carlos did a wonderful job on my tattoo and Hannah did a great job on my friend's. Carlos and I had a lot to talk about as we were raised in the same city and he went to my highschool while I was also in attendance. Wild stuff! Still, for what we got, I wouldn't have paid more than $150 + tip for this tattoo. There needs to be a length requirement or some rules and regulations for pricing (I know this is not easy). Just know you're getting very talented artists when you walk-in! Bring your wallet!

He went out of his way to take on my unknowns and worked with me to make what I wanted happen within the constraints. The previous shop I had tried (that took walk-ins) gave some excuse to me why they wouldn't do it. It was 2pm. - The shop itself is one of the most tenured in Austin, and is decorated to reflect that. I think they said they'd been there at least 27 years which is crazy to me coming in to get this done on my 24th birthday, meaning they've been tattooing longer than I've been alive. - The process that they used to draw was considerably more painful than previous shops I've been to, but I'd prefer someone using tools they're comfortable and familiar with rather than inexperience. - Only complaint I have is only taking cash, I had thought of that but used most of the cash i had on the previous artist from the day before. (They have an ATM inside, but does not accept tap.) - Overall the final result was exactly what I wanted given the constraints of the limited remaining real estate space on my arm. I was very impressed by how Burke developed creative ways to get me what I wanted while still keeping the overall design fluid. Definitely shows the 25 yrs of experience. Even if there's slight imperfections, that's what makes tattoos unique to you. It's not supposed to be copy/paste, as long as you're happy with it and it represents what you want it to, it's a job well done. I would definitely recommend their shop!

I came in with a basic fine line design i'd drawn (a "salt infinity" or an infinity symbol in dotted white ink), explained I was very familiar with white ink and wanted this tattoo in white ink and have for decades - they said absolutely not and gave me the same tired lecture I get whenever i want something inked in white: it will fade, it wont last, it will look like a scar. I have been thinking of this tattoo for as long as these guys have been alive. I know my skin and how it heals better than they do. I know what I want better than they do. It was very disappointing. As an artist myself, I understand an artist needs to enjoy their work and want their name on their work, but tattoos are mostly highly personal to the customer and you're doing a service for a customer - that's why tattooists get paid and don't pay the customer to ink their favorite designs on the customers body. Why is writing a name in black ink better than giving someone a super meaningful, deeply personal white ink design? I wasn't requesting a hate symbol, I wanted a reminder to trust myself - salt is known for purifying and protecting, infinity is eternal. Having a tattoo no one but me knows is there still serves its purpose for me. I'm still looking for someone who will work with me on this tattoo before I consider others. It was the first tattoo I ever wanted and I'm not doing any others until this one is done. The final insult: "come back when you really know what you want, we'll get it done".... Man I've wanted this since I was 9, I know EXACTLY what I want. Its been like 3 decades and hasn't changed. Other than that, the place had a cool vibe, was clean and the work looked well-done.

The environment is clean and welcoming and during the piercing process they are communicative, and I love that when you lay back theres cat pictures taped to the ceiling to comfort you through the pain. For the quality of the service, their prices are very reasonable and they have many many jewelry options and are happy to recommend other options that will work for you if they arent carrying something specific youre looking for. Unfortunately, I have had a negative expirience with one of the piercers. Pineapple, Jade, and Mercedes have all pierced me at different points. Around 3 years ago Mercedes pierced my verticle labret, and it turned out beautiful. Unfortunately I had to take it out because of a surgery after a few months, and once I recovered and wanted to get it repierced I went back. This time Travis pierced it, and I did not agree with his personality very much, as I felt he made some kind of targeted comments at my preferred jewelry and piercing placement, and he also was a little rude when we were having a conversation regarding the circumstances of my surgery. Since there was a scar showing the placement of my previous piercing, I trusted the results would be similiar, but after seeing the markings and thinking they looked good, the piercing happened and it felt a little off. Originally he tried to give me a piece of jewelry for the healing that was comically oversized, and when I said that I would like a smaller size, he acted as if it was a silly request. But truly, my lip was not going to swell to double its normal size because of a repiercing. I signed a form, got the smaller jewelry, and figured I would downsize when it was appropriate and hopefully I wouldnt feel like the placement was weird, but after the piercing had healed and I went to get it downsized, he revealed that no jewelry would fit the way I wanted because there werent any small enough piercings unless I had one custom made. I couldnt afford that so I just accepted it, until this year when I started disliking it so much I decided id rather not have the piercing than have the weirdly placed one, so I took it out. I know the difference might look kind of minimal, but it really drove me crazy to feel the piercing wiggling around so much, and not be able to afford jewelry I would like because it was not within standard sizes. For a while I blamed my anatomy, but a few weeks ago I realized maybe my lips arent weirdly shaped and my prefered placement should be possible, so I got it repierced elsewhere. Now that it is healed (or at least no longer swollen), I can confidently say that Travis messed up with the piercing placement, and acted quite unprofessionally in my opinion. I am comfortably wearing a size piercing that I think is third from the smallest standard size, and it fits exactly how I want. I will attach a photo with a comparison of the piercing i got from travis and my current piercing. (in the top pictures I am wearing a 16g, 1/4 inch piercing, and in the bottom pictures I am wearing a 16g, 3/8 inch piercing.) I cannot recommend the other piercers enough, and I hope to return here for many future jobs, but I would like to recognize this expirience in my review because it was an upsetting expirience that cost me time and money.

What an incredible send-off experience for my daughter! She's headed to Northern Oklahoma College next week to play softball, and we decided her first piercing needed to happen somewhere special -- Atomic Tattoo delivered in every way. Angela was an absolute pro. The second we walked in, she read the room, put my daughter completely at ease, and made what could've been a nerve-wracking moment feel exciting instead. Her calm confidence and genuine warmth turned first-piercing jitters into smiles. But it wasn't just Angela -- every single employee we crossed paths with that morning greeted us like family. The whole shop had this welcoming, no-judgment energy that's rare to find. I got to chat with several of the tattoo artists while we waited, and honestly? I've never gotten a tattoo in my life, and now I'm seriously considering it after seeing the talent and passion in that room. As a dad watching his daughter start a brand-new chapter, this was a genuinely special moment -- and Atomic Tattoo made us feel like VIPs the entire time. You can tell this isn't just a shop, it's a team that actually cares about the people who walk through their door. If you're on the fence about a piercing or tattoo, stop scrolling and go see these folks. Ask for Angela -- you won't regret it. Go get 'em, Chloe! read more

I've been coming here for years - Mike Pain has done all four of my tattoos and has been excellent each time. I remember when I first arrived at the shop to get my first piece done on my upper arm, he took the time to answer all the questions that I had - both about his professional career(how long he had been in the business, at the shop, etc) and about the tattooing process(as a generalization). He took time to answer all of them in detail. Shortly thereafter, he turned a very vague idea that I had and turned it into a pretty stellar design that I later got. The tattoo took about an hour and a half to do and he was very polite. Checked pretty regularly to see if I was comfortable or if I needed to take any breaks to move around, get water, etc. We're both into video games and were able to talk about that for pretty much the entire time. Since then he has done the rest of my work. The process is pretty much the same each time. Making sure I'm very comfortable, telling me to relax, seeing if I need to take a break. I receive countless compliments about each tattoo I have and I tell everyone I know to hit him up. Mike is one of the most honest and genuine people that I've met and he takes great pride in all of his work. read more

This was going to be my first ink ever! So I was pretty nervous. My man Olaf at the Burnet Atomic location couldn't have been any better. Totally lade back and knowledgeable. I felt better already. Not only did I have a very sentimental phrase that was in another language. Olaf didn't blink an eye and shattered all of my expectations. This dude will be my guy for a long time. I strongly recommend that at least go talk or give him a ring up at the atomic on burnet. He knows his stuff and will not hesitate to let you know if some of your ideas might not be able to work in the end and he's quick to have other options. Sorry for this lengthy review , but Olaf definitely put a piece of script art on my chest that continues to blow me away! He made it look so much better than I was expecting. And I just wanted to endorse him, SO ANYONE thinking about getting anything, give him a shout. He'll leave you with a tattoo that you'll walk out loving and that you'll be proud of for the rest of your life. Can't wait for a couple weeks for my next one! Thanks Olaf!! read more

I'm very torn with how to rate atomic. I have gotten two tattoos here, and both experiences have been completely different. The first one I had done was a cross on my wrist done by mike pain, when it was first done, it looked awesome, but after the healing, I discovered that the lines weren't even, and some of the ink looked non-existent. I am now considering getting it touched up or even covered up. The appointment itself was rather uncomfortable, he didn't try to make conversation, and I ended up sitting there quietly by myself. The tattoo ended up hurting more than my tattoo on my ribs. I was extremely disappointed However, on my second tattoo, done by ally, I was more than pleased. I had a quote that I wanted on my ribs, but wasn't sure how exactly to get it done. She was awesome, she drew it up, and it ended up being exactly what I wanted. She was really gentle when do my tattoo, and did a stellar job. I would definitely go back and have her do my next tattoos in a heart beat! read more

Alex Asad did an amazing job on my tattoo! I went in shortly after my corn snake died wanting to get a likeness of her put on my arm. Not only did he make me feel comfortable and at ease, he also captured her likeness in a way that exceeded my expectations. He asked me questions about her while he was tattooing and even shared information about her with others that came to admire his work as he worked his magic. The artists at Atomic are professional and have a way of making you feel comfortable. That same day I also got my nose pierced my Lilian and could not be happier. She was professional and courteous, answered all my questions and even took into consideration my glasses - adjusting the location of the nostril piercing so that my glasses wouldn't constantly hit it. I'm already heading back today for another tattoo with Alex and takin my husband to get his first. I highly, highly recommend Atomic to anyone and everyone that asks where to get tattoos or piercings. read more

I got my second tattoo at Atomic while I was at college in Austin. I made a mistake I promised myself I wouldn't do - got a tattoo past 9:00 PM. I came into the shop at about 10:30 PM. The shop seemed a little small, but clean. I wanted a simple, 50's style basic bird tattoo with hints of blue. Their artist Mike sketched out the bird, and at that point everything seemed fine. During the tattooing part, Mike was personable and talkative, and he worked quickly. When he was done, I took a brief look at the tattoo, decided it looked OK, paid, and left. The next morning, I took a closer look at the tattoo. The linework was inconsitently drawn and "sketchy." The blue that was shaded in had stripes in it. Maybe if I had been there earlier in the day, Mike could have done a better, more attentive job. But I wouldn't go back for another tattoo. I do have a friend who got an industrial piercing there. It was a job well done, so maybe thats worth recommending. read more

The location it's self is AMAZING as is Lillian !!!! However !!!!!! I went and got my nose pierced by Dutch and i would never recommend anyone go to him ! Minimal details aside, he bent it to small, was TOTALLY dishonest about to to clean it and the product I should use AND never even asked me what I wanted it pierced with ( gauge, stone, type of metal or allergies). Luckily !!!! I called one random night after I couldn't take the pain anymore ( my nose started growing over the stone bc, again, it wasn't bent at the right length ) I was directed to Lillian who explained the reasons why I might be in pain and asked me to come in the next day. Thank God I did !!!!!! She was able to completely remedy the situation and keep me from getting an infection. Thanks to Lillian I now have a beautiful and comfortable piercing and I'm so much happier !!!! I would totally recommend anyone to to go see Lillian !!!! My sister in law and I got pierced by Andy today. I researched a lot of shops and settled on this one based on reviews. I called prior to visiting and what sold me (besides reviews) was the gentleman that answered the phone was very friendly. I didn't feel like I was inconveniencing him with my questions at all. The only downside to the visit was the wait, about an hour, and that wasn't necessarily anyone's fault. Just an inconvenience since we drove an hour to get there. Andy was very kind and very reassuring. He is a very easy going guy that takes piercing seriously. He talked us through the process (we each got faux snugs) and was very meticulous about proper placement. He went over aftercare adequately as well, although I wish there was a print out sent home to reference. Overall, I am pleased with our experience. If you are looking for quality work, reasonable price, and a friendly atmosphere, I would recommend Atomic. read more

Here in Austin for the weekend and I wanted to get a yellow rose for Texas. Looked up tattoo parlors in the area and atomic cane up. My artist, Mike, showed me his Instagram and I immediately knew he was one of the MOST talented artists I'd ever seen. I told him a very general idea of what I wanted and he took it and ran with it. TRUST THE PROCESS. He had an incredible, creative, unique, beautiful design in mind for me and 100% delivered. I've been tattooed in several states with all kinds of designs and styles and this was by far the best experience I've ever had. Amazing work, I'm still in awe. As this was going to be my first tattoo. I was prepared for what you have to go through. Tattooing went on with out a problem, I was comfortable all the way. Neat and beautiful art work. Pricing are reasonable, Atmosphere was relaxing. Everyone is friendly. All in all I have to say is, I cant wait to return to meet Nathan Herbert again for another talented art work. I came here for my conch piercing and talked to Andy. He was very nice and answered all of my questions about the type of jewelry used and pricing. When we went back for the actual piercing, he let my friend come with me for support. He also explained to me step by step how the process would go, and then when it came time for the needle he walked me through the needle, then putting through the jewelry, then putting on the ball to close the jewelry. He then cleaned it and let me look at it in a mirror. After this he went through step by step how to clean it and what not to do in order to make sure it heals properly. He also asked if I had any additional questions, which I appreciated. I was greeted by their piercer, Sarah, who immediately made me feel extremely comfortable with the environment as well as the procedure that I was choosing to put myself through. After answering many of my questions, she spent quite a bit of time preparing herself and marking my back before jumping in and starting the piercing, which I appreciated because I knew she cared about the quality of the work. Most of the negative reviews are related to service that wasnt up par BEFORE the tattoo or piercing service was even introduced into the equation. Atomic Tattoo can get super busy at times and each client deserves the best care possible once they get to the actual tattoo or piercing procedure. It's so awesome when people take just a moment to give a kind hello again or nudge to a tattooer or piercer on staff to check on their spot in line or when the next artist is available instead of just storming out and leaving a negative review. Tattoo shops get a bad rap and some definitely deserve it but I can say for the most part the tattooers and piercers ar Atomic Tattoo really wan to make a happy customer. Please give them the chance to do so! #loveaustin read more

ATOMIX on Burnet and Ronny Veritas? 5 F'ING STARS! This dude tattoo'd four words on my sister's foot, and made ME (who wasn't even getting a tat) feel like a welcomed guest. He was professional, explained each step to her (and me), cut jokes, and really gave us an overall GREAT experience. I will be back to have mine done by Ronny next week, and wil tell everyone I know how great this dude is. If you are new to the beautiful world of tat's.... Ronny is you guy. He is at the Burnet Lane store (and by the way, this store is so clean you could eat off the floor!). I swear, the experience we had tonite with Ronny is exactly what you HOPE to have, regardless if it is your first tat or the completion of your sleeve. AWESOME JOB, Ronny!!!! read more

I've been looking for a new tattoo shop for a good while after my artist moved out of state, and I have to say after walking into Atomic on Burnet that I've found my new home. Everyone that I talked to was personable and kind and I really felt welcome as soon as I stepped in the door. I went in with an idea of something to honor my foster puppies that had crossed the rainbow bridge, and I sat down with Mike Pain and he put together a piece that is absolutely stunning!!! It is beautiful beyond words, and is absolutely everything I could have wanted. He's a super cool dude to boot! Not only did I walk out of that shop with ink I will cherish for the rest of my life but ideas for more that I can't wait to get done. MAD PROPS! read more

I have been going to Mike Pain for 2 years now for my tattoos (he has done 6 on me so far) and stretching with Ian and Dutch (tragus and lobes) and each and every time the service was exceptional, the advice was spot on and the work was beautiful (crisp and clean, which can be a challenge with skin as dark as mine) and healed well. There's never any pressure - Mike is willing to discuss the specifics and fine tune the design before we start. He also makes sure the placement is right and talks about what to expect in terms of getting the tat done, healing and the aftercare needed. I have referred friends and family to him and they all have been pleased! If you want beautiful work, come here and ask for Mike! read more

Wow! Loved Atomic Tattoo so much. I drove 3 hours to go to Austin for my birthday. One of the things I wanted to do was get a very sentimental tattoo. The person I originally wanted to go to is no longer in the area. After some research I decided on Atomic. The gentleman At the friend was very honest with me about the placement of my tattoo saying it would need to be touched up in a couple months because it would have been on my finger. We decided it would be better on my wrist. I got set up with Cody who was super nice, funny, and very professional. My tattoo is very simple, but very meaningful and I love it. Its exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! (Limitless on my wrist) read more

It was my first time getting a piercing on my own at 18 and I wasn't sure what to bring considering I didn't have my ID yet. My mom and boyfriend told me to take my birth certificate so I did. I got there and there was a huge line, the guy comes up to help me and I tell him what I want and he asks for identification and I give him my birth certificate. He then proceeds to yell at me in front of all those people about how there's no way for him to tell whether that's mine or someone else's and that I need something like a passport. This is 100% understandable, but the yelling and condescending language was embarrassing and made me feel really bad on my birthday. read more

Quirky Clean Fun Shop! Agree with Spanky 100% Mike Pain is a remarkable artist.. I came in with a sketch of my design and he elaborated on it in a respectful way that took it to a much higher level. WARNING ABOUT MIKE PAIN: He has an actual sense of humor. Some people can't handle that. "Sarcasm is a comedy tool that surfaced in NY in the early 40's and 50's and it never quite made it down South" -Andy Kindler Mike Pain is a riot. A very quiet riot. A dry riot. I also appreciate his honesty and intuition as an artist. Don't let the Mohawk and tatts fool ya. This is a live and let live guy with a heart of gold. I will recommend Atomic because of him. read more

I had heard good things about T's, and though I was not sure they would be open, I took a chance and drove by. My heart leapt when I saw that open sign! Those of you with piercings know that time is of the essence... Anyway, the owner took such good care of me. When I told her I had no idea what gauge the piercing was, she sized it for me, inserted the new jewelry, and after apologizing that she had very little jewelry in stock, took down my number so she could call me back in when her supplies normalized. She even said she'd give me a replacement for free, since I didn't get to pick out jewelry today (just whatever she still had in stock). Y'all, if you want to feel *taken care of* by someone who has been in the biz for almost 30 years, look no further.

We had a great conversation while he drawing. The next time I'm looking for a new tattoo I would definitely be seeking out Frodo again.

The service was super fast and professional, almost no pain, even considering piercing through tough scar tissue. I specifically asked to go through already existing nostril piercing because I liked that location, and the piercer did exactly what I wanted! The person at the front counter was very helpful and friendly that night as well. He helped me choosing the jewelry for my piercings and showed me two other pieces of jewelry I was interested in. Ultimately, I purchased a new earring and upgraded a nostril piercing jewelry to a colored pink stone. I'm super happy with my new piercings and how quick and great my experience was with people at the shop! I'll definitely be back because I want to get a couple of extra ear piercings and tattoos :D

My previous artist messed up one of my pieces. Leo could quickly pinpoint the issue areas and explained how to fix them which demonstrates deep domain knowledge and experience. I plan to get more done because my pieces turned out beautiful. Strangers compliment them all the time when I go out especially the linework and how well the piece was put together. I can't take credit for that. Leo took my ideas and made them into what they are. They're truly meticulous works of art. The shop is spotless, spacious, and is welcoming. The staff at Lost Edge Tattoo are down-to-earth and highly professional. No ego, super chill, and incredibly talented. Sol is also awesome she has helped me multiple times with my bookings and always takes time to explain things which I deeply appreciate. They've had some events at their shop and it shows how community oriented they are which is pretty rare to see with shops these days. I highly recommend this tattoo shop because I've seen the amazing work they've done first hand. Each artist has their own specialties, but it's pretty cool to witness how skillful they are with the needle in live time. You can tell how devoted they are to art and their craft. If you are on the fence, I urge you to pick any artist that aligns with your style or vision and talk to them. You'll know real quick if it's right for you!
