My husband likes to get a tattoo as a souvenir when we travel. What could be better than a bat tattoo in Austin? We popped in on a Thursday afternoon hoping they accepted walk ins and they did. We were so impressed by that as most tattoo shops where we love no longer accept walk ins. They are on 6th street right across the street from an Irish pub. What an incredible location! We worked with the shop owner to design a super cute simple hanging bat and we absolutely love it. The shop was clean and comfortable. They are getting ready to replace their tired furniture in their lobby. We really enjoyed chatting with the artist while he worked. I liked the piercing jewelry that was available for purchase too but felt like I should get my next ear piercing close to home. DO NOT GET A PIERCING HERE! More than happy to provide more detailed information about my purchase of the jewelry in store , the insertion of the jewelry, and the and the date of this interaction to prevent this from being taken down so I can help others. I came in to get a new fitted nose ring about a month ago I only needed a new fitted ring. I've had the piercing itself for 10 years now & I've never had an issue with changing jewelry and I've had it at a 18 gauge the full time. The piercer said he grabbed the right size jewelry after sizing . Showed it to me.. I said it looked kinda thick and he said it was standard size. I thought that was weird but trusted him since I told him the gauge size to begin with. Then I asked for help getting old nose ring out and this one in. He proceeded to gauge my nose with out my knowledge and when I pulled back and said "OWCH" he said it just needed lube because it wasn't going in and continue to force it in and was extremely aggressive about it and acted like I was stupid or didn't know what I was talking about when I voiced I've never felt pain like that changing a piercing. My nose bled and was so swollen the next day that I had to go to a different shop to get it taken out because I couldn't even sleep on that side of my face it hurt so bad. The next shop I saw said that he gauged my nose ring to a 16 and ripped it a little from gauging it so roughly. read more

Frank is a pervert!!! My friend and I went into blindside to get a chest dermal and tongue piercing. Frank proceeded to tell me that in order for my chest dermal to sit right i needed to removed my shirt and bra! When he was piercing me he made a remark about being into living dead girls. When he was piercing my friends tongue he said her partner must be very happy. When we came back to get her belly button pierced it so happened we got frank again. He proceeded to talk about vagina shapes for 10 mins and grabbed my friend by her waist. Would not recommend frank, the whole experience was uncomfortable and disgusting. Rude person answered the phone , asked for a estimate on a a king chess piece gave him the length and width of tattoo , kept telling me he don't know he couldn't give me one I said it was just 3 inches long and 1.5 inches in width very simple tattoo and told me 500$ . Terrible establishment! Rips off customers. My husband and I came in and were supposed to get similar tattoos. they totally got the color wrong on my husband. The whole theme of the Tattoo was the part in the Notebook , where she says she is a Bird. She prompts Ryan to say "if your a bird, I am a bird." Even though it was disgusted ahead of time. Neither one of us received our movie quote and was told it would be another $100 each. We had already spent $800 on the tattoos. Blindside is awesome, Sleeper does dope ass tattoos, and also I was super happy with the piercings I got there (can't remember her name--sorry!). TL;DR: my first tattoo came out better than I expected, Sleeper was insanely focused and worked really hard for many hours to make it happen, 10/10 recommend going to him at Blindside. Also, the piercing artist was dope as shit, I can't remember her name but 10/10 recommend her as well. I went to Blindside on a whim to get both ear lobes pierced; the artist did an awesome job and had great vibes. I pulled out my phone with an image of what I wanted for my first tattoo and asked her "do you do tattoos? Can you do this one?" She said "No, but some of our artists would be stoked to do this". A few minutes later, I'm on the phone and texting w/ the owner of the shop. I told him I wanted the piece, my plane left Austin in the morning, and that I could come in immediately. The owner made some calls to his artists, and told me his artist Sleeper was very interested in doing the piece. Sleeper had to inconvenience himself and others to make it happen (thanks a ton man, and I'm super appreciative to those who moved their schedules around to allow for this to happen), and I'm super grateful he was willing to put in the extra effort. Getting to the tattoo, Sleeper wasn't fucking around; he got the stencil printed and placed, then for the next several hours he didn't put the gun down till the piece was done, except for when I needed a quick bathroom break. I'm still shocked he could pull off a session that long. He was clearly dedicated to getting in as much work as he could on the tattoo. Initially we talked about a certain time frame, and he said if I wanted to go longer on time there and there would more definition and details in the piece, we could do that; he shared what the current price was, and what the price would be if we extended the session. I really appreciated him being about that aspect. For the outcome of the tattoo, I honestly couldn't be happier. This was my first tattoo, I'd never seen Sleeper's work and I purely went with it based off trust and the vibe. Because the piercing artist said they'd have artist's super interested in doing the piece, the shop owner said Sleeper's was excited to do it, I was sold. Super happy I just did it, because the piece is perfect to my expectations and I'm pumped to get more work done by Sleepers. I kind of kept him in a box on this one where I came in wanting an exact image, but I'm stoked to see what he can do with some creative license. Thanks my dude! read more

I was a bit nervous at first to get a piercing done here since it is located on 6th st, and I did read a few 'bad' reviews. I have also only been pierced by a "piercing only" establishment that is trusted by the Dallas/ Highland Park community. But, Frank was amazing! He was extremely professional and friendly. I only waited about 15 minutes to get my triple pierced. I purchased a set of studs and received one piercing for $50. I'm not sure how the other staff members are, but if you want a piercing make sure Frank is the one to do it! He did have a "no photo/video" policy, but that was not an issue for me. read more

I've got 5 tattoos from this place. The artists have always been very nice. I've liked all of mine. When you leave, they talk terribly about you or your friends. I watched a girl get a tattoo and when she left, her artist had a lot of bad things to say about her friend. I personally wasn't impressed by the lack of specific detail on my recent tattoo, but I believe the artist tried to do his best. There were obvious parts that were free handed, but perfect stencils are available online for free (which were not used). During the middle of my tattoo, the boss came in to ask how much longer, as they had more people waiting. The artist appeared to feel rushed. They didn't provide any type of advice on after care or how to prevent infection. Literally none. The artists I've personally had really seem like nice hard working people. If you want something small on a whim with your friends, this place works. If you want something done right and with attention to detail, go somewhere else. read more
