My girlfriend and I stopped in later in the evening for a very small purchase, just a pack of card sleeves, and unfortunately, the experience was unpleasant enough that neither of us has much interest in returning. We completely understand that we came in later in the day. However, the store still had approximately an hour and a half before closing, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect basic customer service during posted business hours. The first thing we noticed upon entering was the smell. There was an extremely strong combination of body odor, what smelled like marijuana, and incense throughout the store. It was overwhelming enough that it made the space uncomfortable to browse, which is disappointing because the store appears to have a decent selection. I also noticed that concerns about the store's odor and or customer service have apparently been addressed elsewhere by referencing an individual being on the autism spectrum. To be clear, I have no issue whatsoever with employees or customers being neurodivergent, nor would I expect anyone to be excluded or treated differently because of a disability. However, that does not make concerns about the cleanliness, odor and professionalism of a public-facing business invalid. Maintaining a reasonably clean and comfortable environment is a basic business standard, regardless of the disabilities or personal circumstances of anyone inside. Using someone's autism as an explanation for why customers should simply accept an unpleasant environment is neither a fair response to the customer nor, frankly, particularly respectful to autistic people. The heavy use of incense also does nothing to improve the situation. If the intention is to mask the underlying odor, it unfortunately has the opposite effect. It simply adds another strong smell on top of an already unpleasant one. Given that multiple customers have apparently raised concerns about the store's odor, it is difficult to understand why the response seems to be dismissal rather than addressing the environment itself. Incense is not a substitute for ventilation, cleanliness, or reasonable standards for a customer-facing space. At a certain point, repeated complaints about the same issue stop being isolated personal preferences and become feedback worth taking seriously. Customers should not be mocked or dismissed for pointing out a problem that management appears unwilling to meaningfully address. What really made the experience unwelcoming, though, was the interaction, or lack thereof, with the employee behind the counter. He was playing World of Warcraft when we entered and seemed visibly put out when he had to stop playing long enough to ring up our card sleeves. I even attempted to make casual small talk with him during the transaction, and we were outright ignored. Not given a short answer, not met with someone who simply wasn't particularly talkative, ignored. We weren't asking him to search through inventory, answer complicated questions, or provide extensive assistance. We were making a simple purchase and attempting to be friendly. Somehow, even that felt like an inconvenience. I understand that hobby shops often have a more relaxed atmosphere, and that's part of their appeal. There is, however, a considerable difference between a relaxed environment and one where customers feel as though their presence is interrupting an employee's personal time. Between the overwhelming smell and the remarkably unwelcoming customer service, we left with the impression that our business simply wasn't wanted. That's perfectly fine, we'll make sure not to inconvenience them with it Edit: You'd be lucky to have 20 people in your store. If your regular clientele enjoying themselves requires everyone else to tolerate overwhelming body odor and nonexistent customer service, perhaps you should host private game nights instead of running a public business. Took my niece and nephew (ages 7 & 9) here to buy Pokemon cards. Price was fine (market price) , but not nearly close to MSRP. They did hold a phantasmal flames UPC for us and gave us $5 off. Came out to $210. The place has reeked of weed since I first stepped foot into it 5 years ago during Covid. The incense is not helping. Pretty uncomfortable to take children into a business with the haze of marijuana inside. Anyway, a youngster comes in looking to sell his Pokemon collection, and of course the kids and I are interested to see the collection. The owner nearly kicks us out of the store for even looking at it. He refused to let us even see. Not like we were going to buy anything... I'd never seen such a practice. I will not return. Basically a hangout for potheads playing warhammer. Pony tail guy... get your act together. read more

Not a bad place if you're a gamer but I didn't feel especially comfortable here. It's not especially clean, smells like marijuana and nobody really wanted to talk to me or help me. I got one word answers to my questions and nobody said anything as I was leaving. I got the clear feeling I didn't belong and wasn't part of the the scene they serve. I've read the reviews about the smell of marijuana, the burps, the farts, BO, and the lack of customer service. What are you expecting in a card and gamer store? Thankfully there's a great community for gamers here - who sometimes burp, fart, have BO, and vape (outside). It's in a strip mall, so yes, it is a little dank. On the other hand, it provides a space for people to gather, drink energy drinks, and nerd out about what they enjoy. I've seen worse. I can't speak to the prices, but the selection seems pretty good. read more

Atomic Games West is a brand new game store that just opened up here in Golden. The space is on the smallish side, but there's plenty of room for both products and games. They carry a selection of most wargaming brands (40K/Fantasy, Warmachine, Malifaux, Infinity), including some used figures, some board games, and Magic: the Gathering. They also sell used video games for all sorts of systems, including original Nintendo up through the PS2, as well as controllers and peripherals. The owner, Wes, is helpful and friendly, and is willing to order models or games he doesn't currently have in stock, including Forge World stuff. They currently have two game tables with space for more that are being built, with a decent amount of terrain. The store has gaming most nights, and will be a host for FNM. If you're in the neighborhood, Atomic Games is definitely a gaming store to check out! read more

They don't seem to want customers. They claim to open at 1 online. When I got to the store, the sign outside said they open at 2. Come 2:30 there was still no one there. It's anyone's guess whether or not they ever actually opened for business, or if they decided they had better things to do that day. It's a shame, I'm in the process of building a Warhammer 40k army and I would have spent a substantial amount of money if they had been interested in serving customers. Absolutely avoid! I was told flat out by this store that they aren't interested in taking the time to look for low cost cards. I even asked them a week in advance about purchasing 20 MTG tokens. When I called back to check they were available and to explore several other much more expensive cards I was searching for I was told that they wouldn't assist. Then the person actually hung up on me! I messaged the store on FB and they didn't apologize. They instead made excuses! This store doesn't care about keeping their customer business. Go somewhere else. Many great local shops in the metro area where your business and money will be appreciated. read more

Horrible. I live nearby, and my husband and I have been in twice to look at gaming minis and for board games. Both times we were met with an overwhelming smell of BO, glares from the shopkeeper, and neither time were we greeted or helped. Our second visit we were gifted with the farts and burps of whoever was working (yes, really) and him calling someone on his cell phone and saying "ugh, I can't leave yet. A whole bunch of people just walked in. Groan." (A whole bunch? There were 2 of us, and we were there an hour and a half before closing!). We didn't buy anything, and we never will return. I have been going here for a year or so now and I think that the staff are really nice and friendly they will teach you some stuff and if there is no one else there to play with they will. They always are willing to help me and have really good relationships with some other people that come in. They know a lot about everything they sell and give fair prices. I play magic and they have a mass solection of cards from all of the games history and will always be open to give you good advise on anything you may ask them. Might not look the best but it has a great community. read more

I'm giving the store 2 stars instead of 1 because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. Like another reviewer here, I stopped by at 2:13pm. Their information on yelp says they open at 1:00pm. Well, there were closed lights were off. I waited for 15 minutes and no one came. So, scheduled to be open at 1:00, still closed at 2:30. Not sure how these people plan on making money if they are never open. read more

So I wanted to stop by a hobby/model shop near my house and this was the closest and I heard good things plus they have a 4.5 review average so I figure why not. Yelp and maps both said they open at 1pm, Got here and turns out they don't open till 2pm no big deal right so I went home got lunch and came back. It's 2pm when I get back still not open and I'm like okay no big deal sometimes it takes a minute to get everything open. I wait outside for 5 minutes, doors still locked and all the interior lights are off. So I go back to my car and wait 15 minutes and still no one has show up to open the store. So I tried to call the store to see if I could figure out when they actually open, well there's no response. So while I'd love to give this store a wonderful review. I personally feel it's unacceptable to advertise online that you open at one when you don't open till 2 and not to be open by the time you say you open. TLDR, online says open at 1 really open at 2 Waited 20 minutes after they claim they open Still not open. This store sucks, not open when they say they are open because the guy is busy getting stoned in the parking lot, and when he finally does open the store there's no actual good selection, and the guy is so stoned that he's no help when asked any kind of questions. Because of that too the whole store smells like shit and you don't even want to be in there longer than a minute, If that's your cup of tea then by all means, but for me personally, take the full trip to games workshop or go to Colpar's since it's much closer if your desperate, other than that stick to amazon, it's much much cheaper if you have the patience to wait for delivery for minis and such read more

Definitely not the place for video games. I was fooled by the other reviews into checking this store out. Without question the worst game store I have ever been to. There is a very small selection of video games. Those few games are kept behind a glass counter where they can't be touched by customers. If you see something interesting you can ask the owner to take a break from playing his table top game for a moment and maybe let you check it out. The owner will then come over to help you, but will not actually let you see the game. Instead he will take it over to the computer and start searching for prices. At this point I was a bit confused, but then I noticed that none of the games had a price marked. So every time you want to know what a game will cost, you have to wait several minutes for the owner to go through this process of checking Amazon, then checking eBay to try and figure out how much he can charge. Now comes the best part. I asked for a price on a used copy of ChronoTrigger DS and a couple of other games. After waiting while he searched, and having the owner explain to me that the video game market is too fluid to put a price tag on games, and I should expect to pay what games are worth, he finally came back with a price that was $2 higher than amazon charges for a brand new copy. He then started the process over again for the next game. When I told him it wasn't necessary to look up any more if they're just going to be ebay prices, he got mad, said something condescending and went back to play his table top game. He went on to say some more nonsense but that's probably enough to give you the idea. Terrible selection, hostile atmosphere, games under glass, no set prices, no need to waste your time. read more

If you are looking for a local spot to play at, AVOID this place. I stopped by a couple times to get a feel and did an event there. I watched the owner swindle new players out of really rare pack pulls. They have higher prices compared to other shops that are not too far. Lastly, the environment is not very friendly. Great store and friendly staff. Was looking to complete a set of legends and buy some commons and uncommons (total waste of store owners time for little pay back) and yet they still helped me and were very considerate and friendly. Highly recommend the store for a fun place to play or just to pick up a few obscure cards. I got allot of 25/50c commons from a 20 year old set! So worth asking/driving to for some random purchases. They also have other games and stuff but I'm a magic player. read more

Horrible service. Owner looks more like a collector that wants a place to store his stuff then make money. He had a large amount of books on the shelves i wasn't aware were not for sale. I stepped back to look at them and he rudely told me these are not for customers. No off limit signs nothing. I wouldn't game here if you paid me to.
