Atlantic Transmission is the WORST mechanic I ever used in my entire life. The transmission on my Mercedes Benz died after 168,000 miles, so I called Atlantic Transmission, and Becky answered. She told me to bring the car in for a "free estimate." I took it in and asked Mark, the owner, to assess the transmission and give me his honest opinion on whether the car was worth fixing. I explained that I was debating whether to fix the transmission or buy a new car. I then asked him for a ballpark estimate of the cost to fix my transmission, both the best-case and worst-case scenarios. Mark's initial quote was "between $1,800 and $3,500." I left the car with them, and a few days later, I got a call from Mark saying I needed a rebuilt transmission, and it would cost $4,500, plus fluids. I asked him again if it was worth fixing, and he assured me it was the right decision. Trusting Mark's advice, I gave the go-ahead to fix it.(HUGE MISTAKE TRUSTING MARK). Several weeks later, Becky called to inform me that the rebuilt transmission had been installed, but the car now needed a "conductor plate," which she explained is the computer that tells the transmission when to shift. She said but first, Mark required payment of the initial $4,700 (including $200 for Fluids) because the rebuild was done. However if I wanted the car to actually shift, I would need to buy this "plate." I asked if the car worked, and she said, "No." She reiterated that I needed to come in and pay because they had installed the rebuilt transmission. When I went to pay, I found out they don't accept credit cards--only cash or debit, which I later realized was intentional so you can't dispute the charge. We discussed the new "plate" further, and Becky mentioned it was very expensive, around $3,500 from Mercedes, but she could get one from China for $1,000, though it would take three weeks to arrive. By this point, I had already been without a car for a month and was now being told it would take another month plus $1,000 to complete the process. Having already invested $4,700, I decided to spend the extra $1,000 in hopes of getting a working car, even if just for another year. I signed an estimate for the $1,000 to approve the "plate." A few days later, Mark called, saying, "Becky doesn't know what she's talking about." He explained the plate alone was $1,000, but with labor, it would actually cost around $1,800, peppering the conversation with F-Bombs. He said he'd call when the car was ready. The next call came sooner than expected, and Mark told me the transmission was fixed and shifting properly, but the engine was now misfiring, showing numerous codes, and they couldn't clear them or get the engine to run properly. I told him there were no engine codes before the transmission failed. Mark then raised his voice, shouting that he fixed the transmission and that he's a transmission repairman, not an engine mechanic. He claimed the car had all those misfire codes when it came in. I asked him why, if he knew about the engine misfires when I first inquired if the transmission was worth fixing, he didn't mention them? I would never have spent money fixing a car with a blown transmission and multiple engine codes. Mark suggested the misfires would be an "easy fix," but the bill for the plate was now $2,700! At this point, I was beyond furious. I went to the shop in person, and I negotiated the plate payment down to $2,100 in cash, bringing the total cost for the transmission repair to $6,800. I left the shop with a poorly running car and immediately took it to a local mechanic to address the engine misfires. That mechanic had the car for two weeks but couldn't clear the codes or identify the source of the misfires. I paid $360 for diagnostic time and took it to a second mechanic, who told me the car WAS NOT worth fixing even with the new transmission. I ended up trading in the car and got just $1,000 for it. Mark is unethical, dishonest and delivered the worst car mechanic experience in 40 years of owning cars! RUN AWAY FROM ATLANTIC TRANSMISSION, MARK & BECKY! read more

It seems everyone is quick to leave a negative review. I would like to leave a POSITIVE REVIEW. I have been taking my cars, trucks , and even my boat with an 8 cylinder inboard outboard to Atlantic for many years. Why? Because I always get a fair shake. Stay AWAY From this low life company I had (2) horrible experiences with Mark at Atlantic Transmission. Please do your research. His horrible reviews speak for themselves. check out the BBB & Facebook, My experience was so terrible, I refuse to deal with him with my warranty. GM is getting involved to check his work & make sure he actually did the repairs he claims to have done. My vehicle was only having small issues when I brought it to him. he stated I needed a new transmission rebuild at 66,000 miles. that price doubled 2 times before i picked up vehicle, then after repairs we broke down 7 times. The vehicle is worse now than before we took it to him. them a month later, my car breaks down again costing me another 800$ of course it's not covered under my warranty i bought through him, how convenient. my point is he knew the repair that needed to be done, so did his employee. as did I. We have a vehicle diagnosis card in my van, i see all trouble codes as does he. Mark went ahead & did a 7500$ rebuild when i only needed a new chip that costed 800$ he is a scammer & taking advantage of small business like ours. there are over 65 bad reports on my facebook warning post to stay away from this company. i cant believe he is still in business. it blows my mind, he is very unethical & read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would, I just called to get an estimate on a Kia optima, 2017 as I'm speaking to the young lady named Becky she interrupts me as I'm trying to speak to her asking about warranties and guaranteed work. She cut me off asking me if I was another customer I was so confused by what she was talking about. So I disregarded what she said and continue to tell her my problems about my vehicle then she states is this about a Chevy Silverado because we can't help you. I said no ma'am I am calling about a Kia that is slipping. I need you guys to look at it and give me an estimate she she stated that they can get a salvage transmission for 500 bucks and get it installed for 1500 bucks. Now I know very little about cars and I just had to put 2 to 2 together and asked her is a salvage part from a junkyard she said yes and I said, is that the parts you guys use she stated sometimes if the customer wants or if we can't find a part I told her unfortunately, this conversation is done, and I will not be recommending anybody to this company by just the way she was explaining their work. I just got my car back a week ago to get a new transmission installed and break job and and the transmission is slipping and lights keep comning up on my dash my car was there for almost 2 months before thwy actually did work on it and every time id call them to find out whats going with the car they would cuse me out over the phone the girl there is very rude and clueless about everything they will charge you for storage fees if u leave ur car there for over 3 days these people r scum bags who will charge you for poor lazy work and if u try to stick up for ur self they will curse you out and threat u like they did to me i dono how these people r in business and im sure if i call them and say whats going on with my car they will probly just hang up read more

Looking at $2500. rebuild 10 year old car. They where able to clean out old transmission $300. been months still shifting smooth. Told me may need rebuild sometime in future but this was the main problem, but they gave me this option no warranty. They could of just charged me for rebuild with 1 year warranty making a lot more money. Car is driven everyday for work. This was looking out for customer and will get future work. read more

Had our car taken there for a transmission repair. Our warranty paid $3,000 to them to repair it. After they said the car needed a computer and that it would be $3,000 more to repair that. They would not release the car unless we paid it because they said it had to be done. After they received a total of $6,000 we got the car and it broke down on the way home because NOTHING was ever repaired on the car. Total CROOKS. I took my car their for just an estimate, they gave me a $350 bill. They lied, told us it was leaking. Never could get the owner on the phone. Dodged my phone calls. Little did I know he was tryin to claim ownership. Never had an experience like this before, so did not realize what he was trying to pull. It's a legal way to steal. I was very nervous after seeing these bad reviews unfortunately, after I had already dropped my truck off for a transmission rebuild. The cost was much more than the original quote but that was explained by a misdiagnosis of the type of transmission( which I verified myself after making the same mistake) In the end they rebuilt my transmission in a couple days for around the same price as Aamco and some other shops around.Mark even held onto my truck for some time as I was working overtime to come up with the money to pay for it and didnt even charge me for storage. He gave me the agreed warranty and set an appointment in 2 weeks to bring back the truck to make sure everything is working properly if you read most of the bad reviews on this place they are people speculating of what was and wasn't done on their car and what needed and didn't need to be done on their car.no proven deceit or shotty work claims verified. just opinions by people that aren't mechanics. They have been in business for 35 years are accredited by the BBB. Mark and Debbie are polite easy to deal with people and I feel comfortable that if I have a problem while it is under warranty it will be taken care of. Unfortunately transmission repairs are not cheap especially on newer electronically controlled units you get what you pay for. My only complaint would be the Lack of detail on their receipt forms thats the only reason I would not give them 5 stars.BTW this is also a real honest review of my transmission rebuild on my ford super duty truck.Im not friends of theirs,or someone out to get them.and I'm a local Jupiter resident. read more

My clutch was starting to burn out in my 3 series BMW. I asked around and heard that Atlantic transmissions was a good reputable place to go. They're located in Jupiter which is close to my home so I took it in to them. I dropped my car off at 9:00 am and had it back by the end of the day. Jamie was a real sweetheart and Mark was an honest down to earth guy. The prices were very reasonable and they guaranteed the work for 1 year. Mark told me that they do body work, paint and A.C as well, so I made an appointment to have them take a look at my air conditioning next week. If you need to get transmission work done in the Jupiter/Tequesta area, I highly recommend Atlantic. read more

I was disappointed in my experience with Atlantic transmission. I needed a new throwout bearing and clutch for my mustang. Atlantic transmission was one of the first to pop up in a Google search and I could not find any reviews to lead me elsewhere. The repair was standard and completed the next day. I received a voicemail saying that my car was finished and the last thing they mentioned was that they only accept cash, no credit cards or checks. Such an antiquated policy should be made evident to the customer up front. Most people do not carry in excess of $1000 in their wallets and this creates a great inconvenience. In addition to only taking cash, the shop did not have enough cash on hand to break a $100 bill and had to go next door to get change. read more

this auto repair shop is great! i have a maserati sports car that was going into neutral without warning! i spent about $10,000 at other foreign repair shops and also the maserati dealer trying to fix the problem. i took the car in for mark and jamie to diagnois they did so,and fixed the problem in one day,at a cost of $319 .. wow ! hindsight is 20/20! i will never take my foreign car anywhere else for repair! chris read more
