Did some research and found All County. They confirmed that I needed brakes but it would be ok to wait to schedule at my convenience in the near future. They did the job, were courteous and checked the car over to be sure it was good to go for a trip I'm planning. Total bill was $100 less than Firestone.

My first encounter with AMO: I brought my 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokeee with 127k miles on it to AMO…read morefor engine diagnostics on 1/28 and it was ready on 2/7. This engine has been exceptional, with only regular maintenance required. It had begun to die while I was driving it a couple of months ago, and had become progressively worse. After a sensor replacement by my trusted mechanic was to no avail I had the jeep, now unreliable for the first time in 28 years, having died four times in the last mile I drove it, dying again as I pulled into my driveway, towed to AMO because of the stellar reviews they have received here on Yelp, in what turned out to be the right move. What may seem an inordinate amount of time for a diagnosis, and I certainly thought it was, until I learned from Josh, that the diagnostician, I assume Adam, had been out sick, believe that or not, and I do...Adam solved the issue when he returned. It was NOT an easy diagnosis...I had taken it to my regular mechanic, twice, they could not determine the cause. I do admit that I became frustrated with the amount of time it was taking for AMO to diagnose, it is my only ride, and I told a very polite woman that answered the phone just that. I received a call back shortly from Josh explaining the situation. The eventual diagnosis? The ECM, the engine's brain, was faulty and needed replacing...and the part was expensive. I approved the repair and my old Jeep was up and running...ready to go on 2/7...back to its old self. Okay, here is my assessment, simply, these guys are great! Once they were able to look at it, it was diagnosed and repaired in short order. The difference between the price Josh had quoted me and what they charged was about 500 bucks! Oh yeah, it was in my favor!! WHO DOES THAT? They gave me a price, I approved it, and the invoice was $500 cheaper. Did I say these guys are great?! My dad bought this new in 1997, he died in 2005, and I have been driving it ever since. Now 70, this by far the best vehicle I have owned, she's not much to look at, and some features don't work, but she starts and runs beautifully. At age 30 she qualifies for "Antique" plates in Florida, thanks to AMO, I have no doubts she will now make it! If you read this far, take your vehicle to AMO now, you will not be disappointed!

What I expected to be a routine oil change and tire pressure sensor replacement turned into rim…read moredamage and being sent home in an unsafe condition. I'm not a huge car or truck expert, but the shop looked decent from the street and the front desk staff were polite and able to squeeze me in on a Friday at 1 pm, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. When I returned to pick up my truck, I was told they had trouble removing my keyed locking lug nut and that it "snapped" during removal. I was then informed they didn't have a replacement lug that fit and that I would be fine driving home with only 5 out of 6 lug nuts. I was assured it was safe. Trying to stay calm and reasonable, I paid and went back to my truck. That's when I actually saw the damage. To remove the broken lug, they had completely bored it out, severely damaging the rim in the process. This was not minor scuffing--it was clear, permanent damage to my wheel. I sat in my truck for a moment because something didn't feel right. I turned it off, went back inside, and asked to see the broken lug nut. They handed it to me. When I explained that I was upset about the damage to my rim, I was brushed off and told I "won't see it," it "won't rust," and that I should just find replacement lugs online. No apology. No acknowledgment. No attempt to make it right. The entire interaction made it feel like, "Good luck--this is your problem now." What bothers me most is that I was never notified or asked for approval before they drilled out a lug nut and damaged my rim. That is someone's property, and the decision to cause visible damage should never be made without the customer's consent. While the oil change and tire sensor install were completed, I left feeling disrespected, unheard, and responsible for damage I did not cause. I've attached photos showing the rim damage, and I also noticed light scratching around other lug holes as well. I know I don't have "brand new" rims or lugs, but it's all I have. I wanted to like this place, but I don't feel I was taken care of or treated the way a customer should be. This was my first and will be my only visit.
