When ordering online through pc express the manager was horribly rude. They had forgotten one of my baskets so I called in and had to go back and was practically blaming me for their negligence. I will never shop at this location again. I find the staff incredibly rude and I had a bad experience with produce. I went in last week and bought a watermelon (whole) for $6.99. When I cut into it the next day, it was rotten. Of course I couldn't find the receipt. I took the rotten watermelon back to Superstore and the girl at the return desk said she could only give me a store credit and the watermelon was valued at $2.00. I told her I paid $6.99. She said there was nothing she could do. I tried to exchange it but they didn't have any on the shelf, they were sold out. Anyways, I took my rotten watermelon and told her I would let it rot in my trunk, go purchase another water, and then use that new receipt for this old, rotten watermelon. She said "do what you have to do" and turned and walked away. RUDE!! Of course I called the Manager and he said sorry and to come back (when it was convenient for me) without the watermelon, and he would give me a new one. One time, I stopped by on the way and the black woman they had at self-serve is by a mile much friendlier, funnier, puts customer first, she does not assume things and she did good at constantly wiping and tidying after every customer. She could teach them self-serve-staff-from-India who does the exact opposite at the Young st location that has a much smaller, lesser self-serve kiosks. Please, remind your Philippine lady cleaner that customers are still allowed to bring a sleeping kid into the store so, there was no need of her to frown and roll their eyes at the kid, esp! Huge. Possibly too much so. This Superstore is closer to being a CostCo than most other locations. That said, holy selection (of non-food items), Batman! I don't get my groceries here because it's not conveniently located for me. But if I'm looking to pick up some inexpensive dishes or oven mitts or storage totes or seasonal decorations or candles or furniture or jackets or bedding or bathroom rugs or toaster ovens or plungers or vases or pillows or fake plants or toys or pajamas or serving trays or duvet covers or cleaning supplies or towels or dishes and oh heck I already said dishes.... what a total joke. This Superstore celebrates by advertising that they are a 24 hour store. They are, but don't go there after 10:45 pm. I went there this past weekend at 10:45 I was at the checkout. There were 6 people ahead of me along with another 6 lining up. The cashier calls out to everyone that did not have any groceries on their belt. She informed us "anyone without food on the belt will have to move down to the self service line". I, 95% of the time do not go to the self serve, one because it cuts jobs; two I carry cash more then I carry credit or debit cards. Of course, in their infinite outlook on the consumer, Superstore is prejudice against cash buyers because they won't allow cash buyers in their self serve. Unless of course it's after 10:45 pm at night when they are suppose to be open 24 hours. They smart idea of holding up the shopper even more is to get you to use the self serve. Then you have to final the sale. The you have to go over to the service clerk who will take your money and release your order. hmmm a lot of work to let these guys continue to get rich off of us. BIG TIP - Sobeys 24 Hour stores always have at least one cash register open along with their self serve. Also, Sobeys doesn't discriminate against cash users. Final note - don't give Superstore donation money at their cash registers. They get to take the glory of a big accumulated donation that they didn't donate. You and I make that donation. This store is big and tidy with a wide selection. They also have some pretty good deals if you clip your coupons and know where to look. Unfortunately when I visited today I needed help with flowers and couldn't get an attendant to help no matter how many times I asked. Also went to the mens room and almost threw up, super disgusting. Of all the grocery stores, this is one that I'm just never going to warm up to. After confrontational bakers made me feel stupid until I decided not to order a custom cake after all, a manager never called back to investigate the concern, and a 'self-scan' attendant rolled her eyes and smirked at me, things have just gotten personal. Sure, the space is big and they have a full home section and whatever, but man...cool it with the attitude. You're a grocery store...not Saks on Fifth. That said, if you need a cart-load of DVDs on the cheap, their bargain bins near are where it's at. I just scored over 20 movies from the 90s for a theme party for the cost of about five at your average DVD shop. Party Of Five boxset anyone? Yes please. read more

Most reviewers don't seem to be fans of this particular Superstore, but I've grown to like it over the past few years. Pros: - Convenience. Although it's technically not the closest grocery store to my home, it's close to a number of other places that I frequent (library, Dollarama, etc.). - 24/7 hours are great! - Big parking lot. - Large selection, especially for ethnic foods. I find this very hard to come across in HRM. Good selection of housewares, health/beauty, and seasonal products as well. - Decent prices and frequent sales/coupons. - There's usually a rack full of reduced-price produce lurking somewhere, of which I am particularly fond. Cons: - This place never, ever sleeps. Ever. Convenient hours means constantly busy, even in the middle of the night. - Parking lot is a nightmare to deal with, especially on weekends. Neither motorists nor pedestrians pay attention to what they're doing or where they're going. - The public washroom is quite possibly the most revolting washroom I've ever set foot in. I lodged a complaint about it some time ago but no one bothered to follow up on it. - Check-out experience is usually slow. If you need something, this location probably has it. Here's the thing with big grocery stores. Most concentrate on the "sundry" items and the quality of the food slips ever so convincingly downhill. For your dry and canned goods? Sure - the Superstore will give it to you, but ultimately I would never qualify their meats and produce as a quality selection. That being said, it is not a reflection of the front line staff who work there, more of a back office policy and sourcing model that gives you mediocre. Is the store big? Yup. Lots of selection? That too. Fairly tidy? Agreed. Reasonable prices? OK. But put together this doesn't always address my inherent need to eat something made from quality ingredients, not just the best of the worst. Of all the grocery stores I have visited in the Dartmouth area, I have had the most luck finding vegan products here. They have a substantial natural foods section with a good selection of cereal, organic baking goods and cruelty free beauty. They also carry some specialty items as well, such as Daiya, a few Gardein products, Tofurky and other vegan meats and cheeses. I also find the staff fairly nice here as well, no complaints with the cashiers I have had. read more

Their produce is usually in rough shape and they NEVER have enough cashiers open. I only go because it's close... They focus far too much on housewares and electronics and let the groceries go. If there's a sale, you can pretty much guarantee there will be a number of sale items out of stock, and they won't be back in stock for a couple of weeks, at least. Let me say though, the thing that drives me crazy about ALL the Superstores is that they freeze all their bread products and then, rather than selling them frozen, thaw them, sell as if they were fresh, so we buy it and go home and refreeze them - great quality... I often go to this Superstore when I need an amount of groceries I'm unable to walk with or I want to buy something organic/natural. I love the wide variety of fruits and vegetables this store has and also the natural foods section. The meat and dairy products are a plenty as well as the bakery goods. This is a great store for grocery shopping and I recommend checking it out. read more

Will NEVER go to this store again. Known for not putting meat into plastic bags if you have reclycled bags. But most important reason. The MANAGER was coughing all over a display that read LivingWell. Coughing into his hand then touching the product. Coughing onto the items. I approached him and told him I didn't appreciate it. Guess what I got back in return. A SMILE. I told him it wasn't funny. I left my cart where it was and left the store. He saw me and didn't care.
