First, let me say that I gave a 2 star rating not to rate the company, but so that you would read my comments. Secondly, everyone we dealt with at the company, save a single interaction, has always been polite and courteous. Third, this is not a detailed review, it is a very brief summary of events from which you can draw your own conclusions.
In mid January of 2021 Mr. Joe Spann, salesman for Atlantic Pools and Spas made 2 trips to our home to see where we were considering constructing a pool and to help us make a decision regarding the parameters of that pool.
On January 29th 2021 we entered into a contract with Mr. Joe Spann and Atlantic Pools and Spas for a fiberglass pool and gave the company a cheque as a 38%, non-refundable, deposit. The contract stated that work would being within 8 to 9 weeks and the construction could take "up to 8 weeks". Mr. Spann assured us that construction should begin by the 3rd week of April at the latest. April 9thwould have been 9 weeks from deposit.
After repeatedly attempting to contact Mr. Joe Spann from late March and throughout April with no response, Mr. Spann finally advised us in a voicemail on May 4th that construction should begin within 10 to 12 days, that is, by the 16th of May. Receiving no further communication, on May 17th when I asked Mr. Spann if the pool was arriving on the 18th as we were told he simply responded "No" and when asked about the construction time his response was "the contract says up to 8 weeks".
I then contacted the owner, Mr. Brent Thornton. Mr. Thornton advised me the pool was scheduled to be delivered on June 21st, roughly 2 weeks after construction was supposed to be completed according to the contract. Mr. Thornton also advised me that the delay was due to the pool company, Thursday Pools of Indiana, not being able to deliver. What Mr. Thornton did not know was that I had already spoken to Thursday Pools and they told me that they were presently manufacturing pools 15 weeks out. That meant that our pool was not ordered before March 15th. Bear in mind also that Mr. Jody Spann, Service Manager for Atlantic Pools and Spas, informed us that in January lead time for pools from Thursday Pools was 6 to 9 weeks, which, if Atlantic Pools and Spas had ordered the pool when we paid the deposit, would have seen it delivered as contracted, in mid April.
Excavation for the pool started on June 14th so completion, according to the contract, should have been by August 8th (8 weeks from start). The pool arrived on June 21st and was in the ground the same day. On August the 3rd Mr. Jody Spann came to our home and informed us the pool should be completed "within 2 and a half weeks).
Today is September 27th, 2021, 241 days or 34 weeks since making the non-refundable payment, 23 weeks and 5 days since construction should have begun, 15 weeks since construction did begin and 7 weeks and 6 days since the service manager, Mr. Jody Spann said it would take "up to" two and a half weeks to complete.
The pool is still not complete.
We have not been able to use the pool, in part because the contract states that use indicates acceptance. There are a number of issues still outstanding that prevent us from accepting the pool at this time.
Please make your own assessment as to whether you believe Atlantic Pools and Spas has lived up to their contract. read more
