First time in RI. Hungry upon arrival. Kelly our server was dope!! We had 4 GREAT margaritas made with Don Julio. Water kept coming!! To start I ordered the onion soup which was soooo good. Could've used a little more bread but hence still good. My girlfriend ordered the fish and chips. Which looked good when it got to the table HOWEVER... it was OVERLY battered. The batter to fish ratio was 4:1. Coleslaw was missing something. Fries were okay. Regular. My meal... the shrimp and scallop fajita was cute. The onions and peppers cooked to perfection. Seafood was good. Portioned properly for the 3 tortillas that came out. BUT... the set up with the sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and salsa was a little sus. It was clear to me that they used bottled salsa. Something like Tostitos mild salsa. Sour cream was super cold and a little one the solid side. Lettuce and tomato seemed as if it came right from a salad that they serve. Tomatoes were pretty BIG to be put in a tortilla. I would've gave this place 3 1/2 stars but don't know how to!!! Not bad for the price. But you know what they say.... "you get what you pay for"!!! read more

I was heading to Anthony's but it closed at 8:30 pm on a Sunday so I decided to try Atlantic Grille. This place is definitely a casual, easy going local's restaurant. Very Family friendly. Service was lickety split fast. Got my beer in nano seconds. Wait staff is super nice, very efficient & accommodating. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder bc I was famished. It was NOT broth based. It is the thicker based chowdah. An earlier review had said it was not thick & to die for. I thought it was good but not earth shatteringly amazing. I then opted for the baked sea scallops with mash & veggie medley. It was very good. The veggies were sautéed simply in evoo & herbs, & the red potato mash was simply prepared with a bit if cream, butter & salt. This place has solidly good food in a very casual Family friendly environment : ) I am definitely looking forward to coming here for breakfast as the reviews and pics are stellar... read more

We made it in here a few minutes after they stopped serving breakfast. We were so disappointed because we wanted a few breakfast items. Our waitress was so kind enough to ask the kitchen if they could still take our order, which they did. We ordered the Atlantic Grille stuffed Quahog, which was soooooo good. It comes with hot peppers on the side, as well as sriracha sauce drizzled on the plate. It was spicy and so delicious. My boyfriend got the surfer's end, which came with 2 eggs, home fries, bacon and a Belgium waffle. This came with a huge portion of bacon. We'd pay extra for that as a side here in the city. I ordered the lobster roll, that came warm with a side of fries and coleslaw. The lobster roll was just okay and the coleslaw had a funky taste/smell to me but that's okay because everything else was exceptional. We will definitely return next time we're in the area. read more

What a delicious choice for breakfast or brunch! The portions are HUGE so come hungry. I especially loved their combo options that provide a little bit everything. Also, if you're planning to go at a busy time, call ahead to provide your name and number in your party. Doing this on a busy Saturday morning allowed for my 8 person group to get seated right away while the restaurant was packed. I wish this restaurant was closer to home as I'd be a regular customer! read more

Oh man the wait here is always long. It's fine for a breakfast place but let me tell you- everyone else here is getting brunch too! Then you get frustrated because they don't tell you a certain area is seat yourself so you see others sit while you've been waiting for an hour. Or the hostess won't seat you even though you see a dozen tables open. Once you make it to your table there's a lot of options on the menu- something for everyone. Unfortunately some menu items are only served certain days of the week and for someone who loves eggs Benedict that's a bit of a deal breaker. But everything I've ever had here is good. Parking is tough- the lot is always full. You kinda just have to wait for someone to leave. The service is average. The pricing is decent. Will we come back? Yes. Is it a must do in Newport? No. read more

PRICEY, LARGE portions however depending on what you get, it may or may not be ALL that. Seems like it's more "touristy", service could've been better. They seem set in their ways & you may become 2nd to how they run the dining room. They were serving breakfast OR lunch at 1 PM, interesting. For the 10-20+ $ I think there's better places with a better value. JMO read more

Very slow service. Or May be we were just forgotten by our waitstaff. She took orders for drinks and totally forgot to deliver mine. I had to asked for it the second time. Waited longer time for the food, and when it came it was the wrong order. The food looked and felt like it sat on the warmer for a long time. Definitely not a good experience for me. This will definitely be a one and done. read more

Me and my family had come here in the past and had a good experience. however, it has seriously gone downhill. We ordered Cod, a lobster roll, and chicken Alfredo pasta. It took a very long time to prepare and the cod was very dry and tasted like it had been a few days old. It was a very small portion for 25 dollars. We are not the type of people to send food back but it was a large amount of money for something of terrible quality and ended up getting a grilled sandwich that was very difficult to eat. the Alfredo was very garlicky and buttery. Even when it was first brought out, it wasn't creamy whatsoever. The lobster roll was not of good quality either. The place was clean and temperature felt very nice. However, our server was not the nicest to us with returning food but we do not remember the name. read more

The business itself was a bit busy and not that many servers.. but our server Deveney was nice, even though the food took way too long for us to get it. The lobster eggs benedicts and lobster omelette was super good, homefries were a bit hard. The French onion soup needed a bit more flavor. Overall, great spot to visit during the summer. read more

Visited Nov 12, 2023. Very busy local place. Be prepared to wait, it will be worth it. Trying to find parking is not fun. There is parking directly in front and a parking lot to the side, but it's packed! Ambiance is great. Family friendly, all ages were there. There is a full bar with seating at one end and tables and booths everywhere else. Pic posted is of the "Lobster Benny" (Benedict) special, but on grilled cornbread. There is another Benny that comes on the cornbread, but at a friend's recommendation I got the Lobster Benny on it instead of an english muffin. SO. GOOD. Some of the meals come with toast, home fries, and coffee/juice included. Meal portions are fairly large. They also offer iced coffee. The server (who I was told has been there for a long time) was attentive when she was around. We didn't really need anything else/extra and she didn't forget anything. She did ask how everything came out and didn't come back until she (maybe) noticed we were done. But a brief mid-meal check-in would've been nice. Otherwise, fantastic service, food and ambiance! Oh! The "Specials". Your server will not tell you about them. There is no special menu sheet provided. They are written on a chalkboard in the center section on the back wall. It's not easy to read from the entrance/waiting area. Take a look there for something different. On my visit it was Lobster Benny, Biscuits and gravy, and Pumpkin Pancakes. read more

The food took 45 minutes to come out. And it was not great. Considering we are right near on the water there were limited seafood options.

Pretty great place for breakfast or brunch! My boyfriend and I were in town for the weekend and came back after our first time because it was so good! It definitely gets pretty packed on the weekends and you'll find yourself waiting a while. If you can, try going during the week or beat the breakfast/lunch rush. Wait staff are very friendly and accommodating. Parking lot can get cramped very easily, especially when it's busy. If we visit again, we would definitely stop by! read more

Food was AWSOME, as usual! Service was terrible tonight!! Not even busy. I had one soda with my chowder which was just about done when my chicken Caesar came. Two waitresses were on. They were more concerned about wiping down tables than seeing if there was anything I needed. After not being checked on throughout my dinner, I had to ask the other waitress for another soda. My waitress said she'd get it. By the time she delivered it, I was done with my meal. I don't usually Yelp, but the lack of service tonight warrants a review. Food 5/5 stars, service 2/5 stars. read more

Oh. My. Gosh. This was honestly one of the best breakfasts I've had in my life. We called a few minutes in advance so didn't have to wait very long (they said it'd be a 20-25 mins wait but it was shorter). Great vibes and ambiance. But even better food! I got the California Benny but subbed the English muffin for corn bread. Every bite was out of this world. The home fries were also so delicious. My friends and I split the pumpkin pancakes which were a special. I can't stop thinking about them!! Look how deliciously dense they are (picture). I need to plan a trip to Newport just to come back! read more

Breakfast at the Atlantic Grille ... cool location but maybe you might want to stop at Starbucks for coffee first. The coffee is really awful. The waitress was pleasant and nice. The breakfast was okay -- pancake had no flavor but they had an Italian chicken sausage which was very good. Nothing special. They need to work on the atmosphere though - the lights were up to full blast (like getting a tan while eating breakfast), there was women's cage fighting on the television (not that appetizing during breakfast) and there seemed to be a lot of staff not working (watching cage fighting). Really though, if they fixed the coffee and the atmosphere, it would be much better. read more

Really good stuffed sole and clam cakes. The French rose and clam chowder are also wonderful.

On my way out of Newport, I stopped at Atlantic Grille for brunch. Atlantic Grille captures the perfect atmosphere for a coastal/beach cafe. This is a busy place for Sunday brunch, but luckily we found seats at the bar and got to bypass the long line waiting for a table. I am a lobster roll lover, and in Newport I could not get enough of them. While the menu offers the classic lobster roll chilled with mayo, the restaurant was kind enough to accompany my special request and made the lobster roll warm with butter instead. The lobster roll was stuffed with a generous amount of tender lobster meat and was the perfect meal to end my trip. read more

Cute beach decor!!!! Breakfast plates named after the beaches in Newport. This was the perfect place for a breakfast double date in Newport! The food was delicious and they gave nice sized portions which was nice because it's on the pricier side of breakfast places that I've been to. I got the soprano omlet which had a great ration of filling to egg. I also got a side of sausage with sausage gravy- a special request that the staff let me do I always love when restaurants let me customize my dish!! read more

I haven't been to Newport for a long while since I moved and coming back with my fiancé to show her where I grew up. I missed this place so much so stopped for salmon pesto, fish and chips, and Philly nachos. Salmon was unseasoned, very bland and didn't like it. Fish n Chips was horrible and had a weird taste. Nachos were okay, but when we asked for the bill we still had most of the food that we ordered since we didn't like it. The server asked if we wanted boxes, and when we said no smiled and just got the bill. Just overall dissatisfied with how our time here was. read more

Atlantic grill has been a clutch,go to breakfast spot for years. The restaurant keeps great hours to accommodate the early riser throughout the week. On the weekend however the place is always packed with no more than a 45 min wait. Is it worth it? Yes, and here's why...the food is amazing! I have never been let down by the food when ordering here. The Bennies served only on the weekends are fantastic; two perfectly poached eggs covered with a house made hollandaise sauce to die for. Depending on which variation you get, I like the Farmers Bennies, your plate is filled to the brim with meats or veggies or corn hash etc... Today I ordered from the specials menu and found myself fork deep in a lobster omelette so good I wanted to personally thank the chef. Lobster, avacado, spinach, goat cheese contained by a perfectly cooked omelette- with a side of homefries and rye toast. Simply Delicious! read more

This used to be the best spot 5-10 years ago. In the past 3 years since the pandemic every time we've tried to give this spot just one more try for nostalgias sake we couldn't have been more disappointed each time. THEIR FOOD IS CERTAINLY NOT WORTH THEIR WAIT I PROMISE YOU! Flies in my husbands pancakes! Wrong food brought out to our table twice! Waited 45 min at 10am on a weekday. They claim they're understaffed but plenty of staff buzzing around. Omelette took extra time to come out because they have one specific omelette chef and their all on their own schedules. Waited probably 45min total for our correct food to come out. All tables around us who were seated after we were received their food before we did. And after all of this they only comped us for the pancakes. I never like to write a bad review of a business but after so many attempts to retry their establishment we will officially never be going back. read more

The restaurant was clean and we were seated quickly; not busy around 3pm on a Saturday in June. There was only one server in our area and it started to get busy. She struggled to keep up and as a result, our appetizer was left in the warmer/oven too long. We had the nachos and our chips were soggy and the cheese was burnt. Burger was okay, clam chowder was like gravy, seemed as if it wasn't fresh (had been reheated a few times). The salmon salad had way too much going on with it. Salmon, mango salsa, dried cranberries, too much feta, and dressing. The flavors are not complementary together. We had to return to the restaurant afterwards to retrieve an item we left behind. At that time, the staff made comments about the lack of organization there and agreed that the food was not good. Nice location and good atmosphere, just needs a revamped menu and some training. read more

Had planned to go to another well-known place in the area, but could not find a place to park. Since we saw open spaces here, my husband pulled in, having no idea what to expect. He enjoyed his chowder and I had the lobster salad that came with cole slaw and fries. Best lobster sandwich ever. Huge chunks of meat and lots of it. Solid stop for a hearty breakfast. Their bar was open and packed, so I'd guess that they have great morning beverages, too! I went this morning with a party of 4. We arrived on a Saturday at around 11am and were seated without too long of a wait (it's the off season). We all ordered something different, and we all liked our meals. The meals are big - I got a meal with two eggs, two slices of bacon, hash browns, and two pancakes, and I ended up with four slices of bacon, two gigantic pancakes, and plenty of everything else. Service was prompt and the restaurant is clean and cared for. It was pretty loud because it was crowded. My husband ate in the bar with a larger group a few mornings ago and he said it got a little loud in there, too. The menu is extensive enough to have a little of everything. We def recommend the grilled Portuguese muffins, which is like a large, sweeter English muffin. Really good and a local fave. We will definitely be return customers! read more

Place would've been amazing had it not taken forever for our order to arrive. We waited 20 minutes to get seated and though we put out order in relatively soon after we waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive. At that point, the waffle we ordered was lukewarm. My lobster Benedict was good but not necessarily good enough to justify the wait. This was a Saturday at 12:30 pm when the crowd was already dying down. Server said food usually takes 45 minutes for it to arrive but considering some other tables were getting their food way before us, I don't believe it. read more

Came here as a result of our original destination having a ridiculously long wait. We put put our names in and there was only a 15 minute wait. Not too bad considering it was 6:00 on a Saturday night. Once we were seated our waitress was at our table almost immediately. She was upbeat and friendly. We started off with the Will's Philly Nachos. Now when it comes to nachos, I just don't hand out compliments but man o' man these nachos were BOMB! Honestly I would come back just for these! Just look at this and let your inner foodie imagine digging into this...a ginormous pile of corn tortilla chips with shaved steak, grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, cheddar jack, salsa & sour cream...hubba hubba my tummy is a growlin just thinking about them! I literally had to stop or else I would not have room for my dinner...and it took every single ounce of will power to pump the brakes on these. Luckily I ordered a light dinner and went with the Beach Melt. Simple tuna melt w/ tomato & cheddar. On the menu it says it's served on grilled multi-grain bread. But I went with sour dough instead. The portion of tuna in this sandwich was ridiculous (in a good way). Great food and awesome waitress (wish I remembered her name but I can tell you she was blonde). We'll definitely be back! read more
