Most unprofessional place I have ever been. Went with my 82 year old mother who went out to have a cigarette. She went out the wrong door and the waiter stared to flip out in her. My brother told the waiter not to talk my mom the way he did and he started in after my brother. The later said that we had to leave that they were not going to serve us. Jokes on them we order the $90 seafood tower and drinks so we got about $160 worth of stuff for free. As we were leaving they had the short fat sous chef standing by the door giving us a hard time. I told him to back off and ibthinknhe peed himself because they called the cops on us. 3 cruisers for a 82 year old lady who went out the wrong door. I have been to the Atlantic Grill several times in the last few years and have had great experiences until today. Went today for my mother's birthday dinner. While our food was OK, we paid our $400 bill and left a generous tip and then were asked to leave about 10 minutes after we paid our bill because someone else wanted our table. Mind you there were other tables around that were empty. My family was from out of town and we were catching up. Safe to say I was embarrassed that we were asked to leave. We were never told at any time that we had a time limit. There are lots of great dining options in the area so I will be spending my money elsewhere in the future. read more

This was my first time dining here and I'm hooked. The staff was gracious and welcoming, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere relaxing. We split the crab cakes and ordered the PEI mussels and Grilled Salmon as our mains. I had glass of white wine from the Piedmont region off the specials list that I hope becomes a regular. Individual ciabatta loaves were served after our drinks. The crab cakes were excellent, served piping hot and had a great texture that didn't fall apart. The mussels were served in a wonderful garlic white wine sauce and came with crispy toast points. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the sauce was dramatic, but didn't overwhelm the fish. The fried Brussels were my favorite part of this dish! They were perfectly crisp and tender. The sweet potato hash was just okay, but that's due to my personal dislike of sweet potatoes mixed with red peppers. This was a fantastic meal and we can't wait to come back! read more

This place is trendy with a nice atmosphere and 5 star seafood chowder which is the only reason rating wasn't 2 stars. Wait staff and kitchen is very accommodating with dietary restrictions and with kids meals. The negatives and suggestions for improvement are many: 1. wait staff and kitchen did not coordinate dinner for table of 8 as meals were haphazardly brought out and forgetting one meal. And this is only a Tuesday night. 2. Cold smoked salmon appetizer I had to send back to the kitchen as it should have been labelled as poached. Very disappointing but did remove from check. 3. Ahi Tuna entree was a bit too spicy and could have been balanced better with some citrus/other for a better finish. I did ask them to use vegetable over the noodles which was done excellent! 4. Lobster dip was very bland and something that is just a step above what you would expect at Applebee's. Too much cream cheese and way below expectations. I hate to go on with a three star review but this restaurant has so much potential. If you want to be at 4.5 to 5 stars you need a better chef and a bit better coordination. After our small wedding ceremony, my husband and I had our wedding reception at Atlantic Grill in Rye. It was the perfect space for our event (about 25 people). The staff, including servers and the facility's events coordinator, was helpful, kind and attentive throughout the entire process, including coordinating the event (even though our timeline was relatively last minute). The food, which we selected as part of a "limited menu" was delicious and enjoyable--our guests were very impressed by not only the quality of the food, the portion sizes, but also the variety offered (definitely not just seafood--don't let the name fool you)! I wanted to take two guests for a special lunch where the parking was easy, and the Atlantic Grill was recommended by friends I trust. We arrived shortly after noon on a Saturday, and I was thrilled by the large, flat parking lot with direct entry to the restaurant. Because rain was predicted, we decided to eat inside instead of on the appealing patio. It was a bit dim inside, but that's better than garish lights. We were given menus promptly and ordered drinks. High marks for the Bloody Marys! After mulling over the menu, all three of us decided to get bowls of chowder, and we shared a Caesar salad. As advertised, the chowder is award-winning -- thick and flavorful. You could tell there was lobster in there. It would have benefitted from more identifiable chunks of seafood, but the flavor was great and the serving was definitely enough for a satisfying lunch. The Caesar salad was perfectly prepared. We skipped dessert but had some very good coffee. All in all, a fine experience with attentive, pleasant service. We get there and the restaurant and patio were only half full and there was plenty of parking. We go in, nobody waiting for a seat. Great. We've been waiting for Atlantic Grill to open, it was well worth the wait! Stopped in Memorial day and were treated by very friendly hosts and staff, including the owner Pete. The new restaurant is beautiful inside. Sat at the bar, served by Steph who is a top notch bar tender. This place is legit. New, clean, classy and a very pleasant atmosphere. Bar area is large and spacious with plenty of tv's. Decorated with a slight nautical theme in a modern sense. Got a quick bite for a late supper. Ordered a Swiss cheeseburger with fries and a cider. Food was cooked perfectly, veggies were fresh and it didn't take long at all. My wife and I visited Atlantic Grill Tuesday afternoon for a late lunch and cocktails. Our server Melissa was AMAZING! Her knowledge of the menu, both food and cocktails were on point. All of her suggestions were awesome!!! The seafood chowder was the best we've ever had! The tuna lettuce wraps were seasoned to perfection and the lobster dip was awesome! The cheesecake was by far best we've ever had as well and is made homemade daily. We met Melissa years ago at another restaurant and we can honestly say we've never been treated so amazing by anyone else. And we try to get to see her whenever we are in the area. I came here for an Anniversary dinner. We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday night, in the Fall. Service was fast, the restuarant was fairly empty. They have dinner theater at 6 or so, but there were not too many diners present. The bar seemed busy. I had a lobster roll combo with the Seafood Chowder. The Seafood Chowder was undoubtably the best i've ever had in my life. It was so rich, and I am a huge fan of chowder to begin with. The food came out fast, and the server was super nice. The prices were expensive, but even though the sign outside says "casual" dining, I'd say this borderlines with more "fine dining" for sure. The Lobster roll was good, I just felt lazy and didn't want to get a whole lobster. You will love this place; The restuarant feels upscale, new, and just classy. I read all the earlier reviews, I am sure that when they opened a year ago or so, they were working out flow, staffing, and the "kinks" that come with operating a new business. My husband and I were first-time visitors of the Atlantic Restaurant a couple of weeks ago. This restaurant is fabulous! We enjoyed great food and can't speak highly enough of the ambiance, the lovely coastal casual influence, the attentiveness of our server, Carly, and the hostess, who were instrumental in providing a quality dining experience for us on a lovely late Friday afternoon. I understand they are very busy on Friday evenings and luckily, our timing on arrival, made for extra attention, which we very much enjoyed and appreciated. The appetizer we had was fried crab cakes. Cooked to perfection and with a delicious lemon remoulade sauce on the side, there were (2), and wow, they were nicely seared and so delicious, we can't wait to go back and get the actual crab cake meal. Kudos to the chefs! I had fried haddock nuggets with a huge baked potato and perfectly seasoned coleslaw, crispy and not too sweet. This was the best coleslaw I've ever had! My husband had the swordfish. It's difficult to get swordfish cooked to perfection like this. Sometimes, the cut is too thin and is overcooked, and then becomes too dry. Not here, this was fantastic (according to my husband). Served over risotto, it had just the right spices in the right amounts, with pineapple and scallions, deliciously charbroiled! Scrumptious! We were celebrating my birthday, so my hubby told the hostess and she surprised me with the most delectable (7) layer fudge cake slice I've ever eaten. Perfectly paired with homemade whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this self-proclaimed chocoholic can't stop raving about this cake, which is a 12 on a scale of 10! Even the hubby turned chocoholic for a day! Finally, the hostess gave us a tour of the beautiful outdoor garden area, where there is seating outside. This is also an inviting and lovely area in which to dine. There's an attractive function room for office gatherings or showers, and there's a very interesting vertical circular tank with jellyfish swimming! Cool to watch. Kids are fascinated! We are very much looking forward to returning to Atlantic Grill soon. We are ready to try the lamb and king crab legs. A patron told us that the seafood chowder is one of the best in the area. I must have hit them on a bad day. Their "famous" seafood chowder had not one piece of sea food in it...lots of potatoes in seafood flavored wallpaper paste...yuck. Amazing dinner experience - my group of 9 left dinner pleased and full! FOOD WAS AMAZING. We started with calamari, crab cakes, and lobster dip. The calamari was good, but i've had better. However, the crab cakes and lobster dip were a crowd pleaser and we for sure made the dishwashers job easy that night. For my main meal i ordered the salmon, again delicious. We ordered a bottle of Lexi Crawford wine and it really was the cherry on top. The service from our waitress was decent. It was not a busy night but she did not seem very friendly, maybe even a little annoyed to be serving 9. The manager came to the table though and asked us how our food was, which rarely happens when i go out to eat so she made up for it! My friend and I both had the duck with sweet potato mash and cauliflower puree special and it was so delicious I wanted to lick my plate.......No seriously!......I used my fingers instead . Our bartenders Todd and Dennis were super friendly and very helpful. Always checking on us, seeing if we needed anything. The building and décor was absolutely beautiful. We visited at night and the trees were lit up with white lights which gave it such an inviting and warm welcome. The inside décor was perfect. Large paintings and pictures, ocean colors. I planned my parent's 40th wedding anniversary with Caitlyn, the event planner at TAG, and could not have been more pleased with the communication leading up to the event and the care and attentiveness shown to our party the day of. And that, folks, is saying a ton because I am a project manager by nature and by profession. I'm picky, detail oriented and difficult to please, but Caitlyn and her team knocked it out of the park! First, the facility. It's new, clean and beautifully maintained. Our private dining area had access to their gorgeous patio and we were able to play a custom playlist because the space is equipped with an auxiliary jack. Hooray technology! Also, there is tons of parking. You can't beat it. Second, the staff. Our waiter John took care of our 14 person party and didn't miss a beat. Not a single request went unanswered, from drinks to photo ops, he had us covered! He had the appropriate amount of bussing and support staff and Caitlyn was present throughout the entire event making certain every detail was attended to. We were under a time constraint to make our whale watch tour so she even had her team decorate the room with the few items we put together. We could not have done it better ourselves. BRAVO! Third, the food. Nearly everyone ordered the chowder and gave it rave reviews. It's flavorful, packed with seafood and super filling. I found the consistency nice as well.The shrimp cocktail were crisp and beautifully presented. My parent's lobsters, even though only 1.25 lbs were sweet and more than enough food including the sides. Also, Market Price was $25 - very fair! Additional note about food/prices: I picked TAG because the menu had enough variety to suit nearly every taste, they have a raw bar, and compared to other seafood restaurants in the area, the prices are absolutely appropriate. Portions are big, too. I have to tell you that I didn't hear a single complaint about the food. Not one -- out of 14 people. I was impressed. Popovers bakery provides their cakes so I ordered a custom cake for the occasion. The cake was moist, it was gorgeously decorated and the frosting was light and sweetened just enough for my taste. The entire event went flawlessly and will be one to remember. My parent's were blown away and so was I. We have been to the Atlantic Grill many times, as it is close to where we live and convenient. Sad to say that the quality of their food has gone progressively downhill since they first opened. We dined there this week and it was very disappointing. Not sure where they source their oysters, but they need to find a new one - so many wonderful places in Portsmouth area to go for oysters - this is not one of them! The caesar salad was mediocre at best, house salad very subpar. The fish and chips was HORRIBLE - very overdone, batter overfried and fish dry and barely edible. We decided to share a desert, creme brûlée, and it took over 20 minutes to get to our table - I don't mind spending $$$ for a great meal, but it hurts when you leave unsatisfied. After pointing out to our waiter about the fish, he said, "oh I'll tell the chef" , not offering any kind of apology/drink/dessert or just something complementary to compensate. Don't waste your time and $$ here - too many other great options on the Seacoast. Sadly, AG has disappointed to the point we won't be going back. read more

The service was very good, the atmosphere was a bit loud (older folks at the table couldn't participate in conversation unless we yelled) and the food was in consistent. We ordered the seared tuna lettuce cups and and on 1.5 of the 3 plates the tuna was not seared so much as cooked brown with the texture and flavor of canned tuna; big disappointment. Three of us had the maple glazed salmon (farm raised not fresh caught) and they were flavorful and well prepared but the plate was universally dark brown and not very appealing to the eye...minor point. The short ribs were a disappointment, but this is a seafood restaurant. The haddock was well prepared and tasty. For the price I think you can do better in numerous places near by. read more
