I was driving my 2015 Tiguan cross country from LA to ATL when my check engine light came on in TX. I did the code reading and found out the intake manifold runner control was having issues which was in turn causing engine misfires. At this time, I called five dealers in the Oklahoma and Arkansas area and they did not have much experience or thought on the matter. Just mentioned that I should bring in the vehicle for a diagnostics and wait 5-6 hours for labor once they figured out the problem. Since my destination was ATL, I called Jim Ellis VW Atlanta and advisor Scott Croston picked up my call. Scott put my mind at ease when he told me the issues he has seen throughout the last several years in regards to the intake manifold runner and told me I should be alright finishing my drive as long as the check engine light did not blink (which indicates misfires). Once I arrived in ATL, I immediately made a service appointment with Scott. When I arrived, he greeted me with professionalism and great customer service. I waited in the customer lounge for about 45 mins while they ran the diagnostics. Then Scott came out to talk to me about the issue and how long it was going to take to repair the intake manifold (2 hours--at least 3 hours less than the other dealers). No hassle or issues. No trying to sell me on other services which I greatly appreciated. All in all, my experience with Jim Ellis Service and Scott Croston was far beyond any service expectations. Thank you.

The last time, I had had a problem that turned out to be an anomaly--lurching and hesitateing. Ross said he couldn't detect the problem when he test drove the car. He did not do the tuneup I had requested because it didn't need a tuneup (he could tell). When I reviewed my records, sure enough I had done a tuneup recently and totally forgotten. The lurching problem never happened again, but I did put some gas cleaner in the tank, so maybe the lurching was caused by dirt in the fuel system. It's that kind of competence and honesty we really want in car repair places. Another time, they quickly diagnosed a problem that another shop said was caused by a" stone on the chassis." Thank you, Lauro's.

I have used Decatur Auto Tech 4 separate times for various repairs on my 06' Acura MDX. I have never been happier with the overall service, repairs, and price. All the times I got it serviced it was done in the same day and being a savvy car owner I have verified their prices were the most competitive by calling around to other certified repair shops. The CV Joint repair was almost a full 30% cheaper than the Goodyear place close to my home. I would recommend them to anyone who owns a Honda, Acura, Hyundai. Having a quality and honest mechanic is very important to me. Repairs - Electrical Short - Transmission/differential service - CV Joints replaced - Intake manifold Gasket replacement.

I was quoted $90 for a basic adapter--far above normal pricing. After I questioned it, they agreed to reduce the charge by $60, but only knocked off $30 in the final bill. More frustratingly, part of the reason I agreed to the repair was their assurance that it would restore connectivity to my stereo. It didn't. When I brought this to their attention, their response was dismissive and unprofessional--essentially telling me "tough luck," with no attempt to stand by their work. They also performed services I never explicitly authorized, and only informed me of a $60 increase in the cooling fan price after the work had begun--leaving me with no meaningful opportunity to make an informed decision. What's worse, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being taken advantage of as a woman. The way I was spoken to, disregarded, and overcharged raised red flags that I believe many women will unfortunately recognize. It was condescending and exploitative. Between the inconsistent pricing, unauthorized work, failed repairs, and dismissive behavior, I left feeling unheard and taken advantage of. I won't be returning--and I urge others, especially women, to proceed with caution.
