I am SO very grateful that I found Movement For Life Physical Therapy (formerly Athalon) on Ft Lowell for mine! I had total Knee Replacements on BOTH knees last summer only two months apart, (just 17 years after the first orthopedist told me I needed them, lol). With the first knee, I started PT at another place, but I wasn't progressing the way I thought I should. With the second surgery, I decided to find a better crew to help me get walking, sitting and moving 'normal' again. This time I searched better, did the due diligence and discovered Movement For Life PT on Ft Lowell. They got me in right away and we started rehabbing BOTH post-surgical knees, including all the delayed PT work on the (extremely stiff) first knee that was already two months into healing. For the past six months, I've mostly worked with Daniel M and Alissa R (predominantly supported by Irene and Andy). I am super impressed by the plan they put together for my recovery, and the genuine interest and concern they ALL show during each visit for how my knees are healing and the mobility progress I'm making. Some of what they have me doing has been really, really hard, some easier, but ALL of it is helping me move like these after-market healthy knees have always been installed... and though I'm only mid-way through the healing (process can take a year or so), I hurt way LESS than I did pre-surgery. I'm also walking and moving better than I was for the past 20 years on the OEM/original knees, even though I'm actually having to relearn how to walk the RIGHT way since the legs are straight now (not knock-kneed). As I gain strength in muscles that weren't used for decades (due to pre-surgery joint pain) and enjoy restored balance, the team at Movement For Life effectively adjusts my therapy program and homework exercises to reflect where my body is at right now so I can add new skills and motion. With their continued help, I have already started taking short level hikes, can comfortably drive my stick-shift vehicle, expect to go dancing again soon for the first time in many, many years and even anticipate being back on my bicycle by the end of the month!!! I could NOT have accomplished this work (and it IS work; no escaping that) without the great partners/coaching I have at Movement For Life Physical Therapy on Ft Lowell with Daniel, Alissa, Irene and Andy. BTW, the office staff is as professional and personable at their work as the Therapist team is, with Brittany being both friendly and super efficient booking appts around my crazy schedule, handling insurance questions and keeping me on track with the billing stuff. Hopefully, the need for PT won't come up too often in any of our lives, but WHEN it does, this is THE place to pursue a successful recovery with folks that care about your mobility goals, gains and achievements as much as you do! The therapist also…read morehas gone downhill and her attention span has been interrupted She talks incessantly about her personal life and forgets that's she's supposed to be working on you. They are short tech's and therapists. I advise looking elsewhere. I'm going to give one of their other facilities a try but if that is as disappointing as this facility has become then I'll switch to another company. The owner is difficult to communicate with. She is unaware of what her facilities offer ie: cupping or other modalities. There's a change in ownership. I'm told the company is "struggling" and they need to make this change to keep open and running. Worst physical therapy place ever. Try modern it's much better and better therapists.

APT is in a GREAT location (right in the middle of town). Super easy to get to from work and they are pretty accommodating to my stupidly hectic schedule. Parking is convenient and all I have to do when I walk in the door is sign my name to the clipboard and start working. Therapists and trainers listen when I say if something's working or not. They don't make me sit around waiting for them and they don't sit around waiting for me. They push me when I need to be pushed. They don't let me slack off when I'm lazy. They take copious notes about every little thing I tell them and then, surprisingly, they remember when I come in the next time. Environment is fun and they're usually playing some funky music, which makes being there more fun. Most importantly, in my effort to rehab my knee and back, things have started to gradually feel better - not 100% yet - but feel like I'm taking steps to being on that path.

I have two different shoulder issues at the same time; one shoulder is in the process of "freezing" and the other has tendonitis. Mike takes the time to listen each time I go to therapy to see if he needs to adjust any techniques. He and his assistants help with exercises, massages and adjustments of affected areas and provide ultrasound as well as stem and heat therapy. I can already feel and see a different in both pain and movement. I highly recommend Southwest Shoulder to Hand Therapy.

The facility is compact but has everything one needs to get top notch results. I prefer learning and doing exercises that use minimal spa-like equipment and use things like hand weights, exercise bands, walls, treadmills and stationary bikes. Nothing glamorous but effective......and easily replicated at home or on the go. All the therapists are cheerful, encouraging and supportive. They listen and offer encouragement and alternatives crafted to your needs and abilities. Their hours of operation are pretty extensive and convenient. Stayed away for awhile due to the pandemic but am going back and feel comfortable doing so. You…read morehave to wear a mask and they take your temperature when you come in. You have to wash your hands before being seen and they spray down the tables and equipment before you use it. I still see Andy and still really appreciate his help. I see him for my back and knees. I have ongoing low back pain but developed tightness in my upper back that was restricting my breathing and he gave me some new exercises for that that has really helped me to be able to breathe more freely. Andy tailors the exercises to my needs and I have found them to be extremely helpful. He has a wide variety of tools and techniques to adapt to your needs. The dry needling is helpful when my muscles are really tight. If I need to be taped, he will do so. He will show you how to tape yourself as well. I sometimes get heat or ice-with a tens unit (electrical stimulation). If one thing doesn't help, there will be an alternative. The front staff are always friendly and helpful. A bonus is the deer that come down in front of the business to drink water and feed on the tree.

He was polite, compassionate and kept in constant communication with me while all the paperwork, insurance, expedited authorization was handled. Yesterday I had my first of 18 visits after shoulder surgery with Emily. I instantly felt a rapport with her and genuine care for my recovery. I did not feel rushed.
