My colleague and I had a very nice dinner at this restaurant just two days ago. The menu is expansive and not just your standard Indian Cuisine. The sign on the place read "Authentic Indian Cuisine". This place did not disappoint. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and lead to a table. We ordered a couple of Indian Beers "1947". After having a look at the menu, my colleague and had some questions since the menu was not just your typical Curries, Tikka Masala, and Vindaloo. We decided that we would each order something that we did not know or recognize. We we're approached by a very nice gentleman who was extremely hospitable and passionate about the cuisine being offered. After learning about the dishes that we were not familiar with, the gentleman assisting us proceeded to continue to teach us about Indian History and culture. It was obvious that this was the owner of the place so we inquired and sure enough he was. It was a real pleasure to meet the owner and see how passionate he was about his restaurant. The food we order arrived at our table in a nice presentation. When it arrived, the owner again stopped by to see how our meal was. It was delicious. The unique flavors were really good. We order mixed veggies pakora and paneer Puri for our starters. The main dishes (pardon my spelling) Telengara Chicken and and one other that the name escapes me were awesome when they came. The naan was hot and fresh out of the oven. As we ate our meal, it was obvious that it was good based in the fact that we were dredging the naan in the dishes sauce/gravy. This place is a great find in Chantilly. After finding it, and in my upcoming travels to the area, I will return. Five stars all the way. read more

I was here in one evening few weeks back. I have been seeing this place which was Minarava few years back and it was keep changing in last few years. I haven't tried any of after Minarva closed but I decided to try this one. I am from north Indian and I am big fan of very spicy food , specially Chicken. I visited on one non busy evening on Sunday around 7.30pm. My over all experience was very good with place, food and people. There were three people of staff and no customer when I arrived. I spent around one hour there. 3 more families of 4 visited during my time and 2 people picked up to-go order. Food : I ordered Andhra Chicken curry , it comes with rice and I ordered extra roti. I liked very spicy and it met my expectations. Plain rice was very tasty too. I would like to go visit place again and try their different items. They have so many items on menu. There were some glitch in my order and they replaced my item later on, Some delays in order because of that but I was ok with it. It happens when people and place is new..I can understand that. My food came with complementary Papad and chutnies. I love their Green Chutney Name : "Athidhi" - Its is typical south indian name . Usually its called Athithi (meaning Guest) but in south , they call it Athidhi, i Guess, Not sure why "Th". Its hard to say name of place , and Americans may harldy able to say or remember name. People who are non-indina they wont know its indian food place by name. I wish they picked some different name. Place: Place was kinda ok, They have enough tables and average furniture. Their bar doesn't match with other interior. I would suggest to get rid of TIKKI bar and get some modern bar. I am sure no one usually use bar counter at this type of indian restaurant. Their bathroom is super dirty and entire hard floor is sticky. This is typical indian restaurant problems where they don't focus on cleanness in bathroom and floors which may invite eventually sickness. But thats issue I notices in almost all indian places, specially places operated by south indian community. I believe its cultural issue in india to not focus on hygiene. Music and TV : I like the way they playing soft instrumental indian Bollywood music. And I also like that their TV was not turned on. Its my personal preference at restaurants to have no-noicy environment. Staff : It appeared that staff who took order seemed like owners of place. Three people were there - owner, wife and friend or partner. They did well. They messed up my order a bit, It was so easy to remember one item that I ordered still they messed it up, I would recommend them to carry a note pad and pen and write down order properly , instead of just trying to remember in mind. I would personaly like to see Waiters in some sort of uniform, ( Black pant and Black shirt). I would recommend to go for it to look more professions. But thats just my personal choice. Prices: Prices are almost same as other indian in the area. Typical $11.99 for most main item, I would recommend if they reduce it by $1 or $2 and kept it under $10 then it may attract more people. Pros : Great tasty food. Good ambient. Cons : Dirty stinky bathrooms, Sticky floor Remanded : Yes for sure, I will visit again and spend money again because of their good taste. I hope this review helps both customers and owners. I am not here to criticize anyone and I provided my honest review. People usually go to place in group and don't look around much but I usually go alone and I observe lot because I don't have to do much while waiting for food. Next time I will take some pictures as well of both place and food and post it. Food is very delicious. I've been to many Indian restaurants in and around Herndon and Athidhi definitely is one of the few best places. I enjoyed the food here and plenty of options for both the vegetarians and non vegetarians as well. I like the fact that they do have nice buffet weekends and dosa nights etc.. read more

NEVER BOOK THIS PLACE - horrible service We had a wedding here yesterday. Initially they said they will provide everything. And on the day of wedding the service was horrible. - on the day of wedding they said they cannot give changing rooms to bride and groom. In Indian weddings they have to change clothes. So we have to goto nearby hotel for that. - we paid for 70 plates (very costly) and they did not refill the food trays. Almost 30 people did not have enough food to eat. They did not refill even white rice. It is a horrible experience. Even when we asked to refill, they just brought 3 spoons of rice as though we are begging. Very horrible people. - and at the end, he just kept charging more money, which he did not mention at anytime during the 2 months of our discussions. It cost us 2500 for 70 people with food supplied for 30 people. - during payment, we decided to ask everything he promised and failed to do. But he made sure all his family is there with his small kids. I could not shout at him in front of his kids and decided to use the reviews. - and for the decoration part, he said he will give us the hall early and when we called him about that, he said he was joking and can give the hall for decoration only 2 hours before wedding. It was a wedding and it is a joke to him. - he is like that in all the promises, promised many things and once we paid the advance money, he started adding restrictions on the day of wedding. - he had the nerve to come and tell us that our wedding decoration is horrible and to use his decorator... cheap tricks - I will try and make sure to provide this review everywhere so that others don't get fooled with their outside friendliness. read more

The food at Athidhi Indian Cuisine at Chantilly is awesome. Be it the biriyanis, curries, or the naans, they are too good. One thing I would like to bring up is the comparatively less amount of oil they use in their preparations. This doesn't compromise on the taste either. Food from another Indian restaurant near by literally contains a thick layer of oil floating on it. I would certainly recommend Athidhi Indian Cuisine located on Lee memorial highway in Chantilly to anybody who loves genuine and authentic Indian food. read more

Very nice place and it is totally renovated and the environment is very good. Staff is friendly also the owner is good too.Food is very good. Good not very fresh and flavor was pretty bland for me. We came Saturday night and not many people there. Food came at a decent time for an Indian restaurant and the appetizer we ordered was good, but that's all the good things about it. The rice was very dry and bland. I had the lunch buffet and it was some of the best Indian food I've eaten in a long time. There was a good variety of choices to choose from too. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I was so upset when Minerva went out of business in the area as it was my favorite Indian food. but to be fair, it definitely went down hill towards the end. Then Decaen spice took over and it was okay but they didn't last long. Athidhi remodeled the Chantilly location and kept my main favorite Minerva recipes but added so many more foods i have never tried before. Their buffet on Friday, Sat and Sun are the best... During the week, its okay, but On the weekend days, there's a bigger buffet, more turn over, and they have my favorite... dosa... The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON EARTH - I never had such an awful experience in an Indian restaurant like Athidhi Indian Cuisine in Chantilly, VA We went for a lunch buffet and the food was all tasteless and the service is the worse. These members of staffs serving at table are so badly trained, no courtesy at towards customers, extremely delay to attend customers' requests, no politeness, tremendously arrogant towards customers etc. Instead of being treated with respect and concern, even the manager/owner was very rude, dismissive and insulting towards us. I have never been treated so poorly in any plac. Upon receiving the bill we did not tip (the servers told us the tips do not go to them, but to the owner). We will never visit again. read more

A very calm and quiet place a very good ambience . There was not too much crowd in the restaurant. I was surprised and skeptical about the food. The owner welcomed us with a friendly chat . The kids were comfortable with the owner. The orders started to come one after the other . Chicken Manchurian was good egg bonds was good gobi manchurian is good but the veg Manchurian was not up to expectations. The Apollo fish was very spicy for kids . The egg dum Britain nice and spicy . The romali roti and naan was usual. The family Dosa was amazing for kids. With coconut chutney red chutney and potato masala. The potato masala was great. Tried this place on the off chance, and what a gem! They have both veg and non-veg. Had Dosa, Idli-Vada combo and Paneer Biriyani, all tasty and fresh. Vada was light and fluffy, Dosa outer crepe was nice and buttery. Talked with the staff and learned they make food fresh each day, and throw away leftovers. Some items weren't available (masala chicken wings and Faloodah), and thats fine with me; go with what they have available and fresh. Give it a punt, you won't be disappointed! read more

I am amazed how they got so many good reviews here. We gave it a try based on previous reviews but we didn't have good experience. We went here for dinner. We ordered pani puri for appetizer and chicken chettinad and malai kofta for dinner. They took the order and after 5 mins were told they ran out of pani puri. We didn't pay much attention. Looks like they give complementary papad & green chutney for starters and by looking at the green chutney i could tell it wasn't good, seemed they just added green food color to some sauce. The main course came quite late . The chettinad was full of Cloves, the taste of cloves was so overwhelming that we just couldn't eat it. When we asked about it we were told thats how chettinad is being prepared. Well we had chettinad in several other restaurants so we know how it tastes. They gave us a replacement for it and it tasted more like chicken curry, the malai kofta was just ok. The servers were not polite enough when they were removing and keeping the cutlery. Overall we would not recommend this place to anyone. Also they have a party hall next door having a party with DJ and all. I kid you not we were able to hear it every bit of it they really need to do something to keep the noise out of the restaurant. read more

I wanted to try the food with my family but we were made to wait at least 45mins to 50 mins before our food came out. We saw many to go orders filled and others that came to the restaurant after us for their food in a reasonable time but before us which irritated me and my wife to say the least .We had enough so we decided to leave, gathered our kids and left and as we did the food came out but it was too late for us. AFTER 40 mins they put plates on our table which normally means the food is coming out soon but it was about 15mins later when we were in the process of leaving that the food came out. My wife was starving and my 2 year was hungry , and we had a tired baby, so why would we want to wait almost an hour for simple orders of butter chicken and biryani and naan? You had no explanation to why it took so damn long for our food but others got served and you obviously were getting ready for a party in the banquet room and could care less about a family of 4 with a simple order of food. NEVER EVER BOOK THE BANQUET HALL - I had my wedding on June 15 in their hall - one of the WROST decision I made. The owner was so friendly initially and promised that he will provide all the facilities. Just two days before the wedding... he showed his true colours... - He agreed to give changing room at the time of booking but just two days before the wedding he said that he is not giving changing room for me and my groom (in Indian weddings we need to change the wedding dress after few rituals). We ended up booking a hotel near by and took the pain of going all the way to the hotel to change and we made our guests to wait for us for almost 45min... I definitely not booked this place if he had said this before.... - We order food for 70 people but they just gave food for only 40... and didn't even refill the food after requesting. They were so rude and even said that this is what is remaining and they can't serve. - the place is so horrible.. they didn't even cleaned it properly... - We decorated the hall by ourself which he didn't liked it as we didn't hired his wedding decorator... so he ended up saying that out decoration is not good and he can ask his man to do decoration in the end moment.... such a worst behaviour... -At end he added so many extra charges which he didn't specified it before... we paid a lot for nothing.. To the contrary of the good reviews, I had a bad experience today. I had ordered boneless chicken briyani and chicken 65. I specifically asked them if the chicken 65 is a dry one or not. They told me its a dry one. But, it was totally soaked and full of color additives. The briyani has the same pieces of chicken as that of chicken 65( no difference). It is really so disappointing to have such kind of food from a restaurant that has so many good reviews. Complete waste of money read more
