They owner manager appears to be a nice and reasonable person but i believe the hardships of the economy have lead him to implement cost saving attempts that have negatively impacted then quality of food. On more than one occasion we have been served the skin of the spick of gyro meat which, when new meat is placed on the stick to cut off, it is the really really tough outside and barely edible. Instead of the generous slices of meat, they cut the narrowest slices like strips of torn cloth. This is not the gyro meat i ate as a child. Next the pita bread was beyond stale; no doubt it is expired. It was extremely tough to chew. Most upsetting was the watery tzatziki sauce obviously given in that way to save money; the sauce is tasteless. Finally there was oil in the bottom of my container NEVER seen that before. So after returning the inedible meat for some meat that wasn't from the outside of the Spick, we attempted to eat this food and it made us sick. I had the worst indigestion. I don't know what was in that mystery tzatziki sauce, but it gave me a very bad upset stomach. My husband Ended up throwing out his food as did I. Unfortunately, after eating their on and off for the past 16 years that we've been married and living here, we will not be eating there any longer. I know that being a business owner is tough. I know that they have to be creative and fine ways to cut cost. However, they have to ask them sales will it ultimately cause them to lose business Because not only am I no longer eating there, I used to DoorDash from there when I had company, we won't be doing that any longer or referring people. Our health is the most important thing that we can take care of next to our children and of course, even more so our relationship with Christ. I can't risk my health eating food that is improperly prepared so someone can make as much money as possible in their business selling that food. It is on fair. From now on I'll be cooking from home a lot more on the weekends to prep for the week so I don't need to do these last-minute stops in the middle of the day for my lunch and my husband's dinner, it's unfortunate but it is a lesson well learned and $31 That I unfortunately just flush down the drain because I also paid a tip. read more

I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but the gyro tasted like any gyro sandwich I could have anywhere. The portion size was pretty good, but their Greek Style fries were insane! Small hole in the wall eatery that you don't want to miss if you like Greek food or if you haven't eve tried it before. Lots of options form traditional falafel and gyros to "American food" And everything in between . You can "build your own" allowing you eat as you like. I didn't even know this store existed until I started delivering for Door Dash. I picked up a delivery a few days ago and it included a pita quesadilla. MAN. When I tell you the smell was the best kind of smell. It lingered for hours after that delivery and by the end of the night, I decided I HAD to try one of those myself! So I did, last night. I've been here just once, but I was really impressed. There's a large menu with typical staples like gyros and burgers, but also some interesting items like a huge fried chicken sandwich, a Greek "quesadilla" made between two pitas, and (my favorite) a bowl that you can customize Chipotle-style with your choice of meats/rice/toppings/sauces. If you don't feel like a pita, you should absolutely try their bowls. The base is typically a flavorful, lightly-seasoned long grain rice, but you can skip the rice if you'd rather focus on lettuce/veggies. There are several different protein/meat options, such as gyros, chicken "yeero" (stacked boneless chicken which slow-cooks on a spit), falafel, and a few others. When your bowl is ready to be topped, they'll call you back for you to pick your toppings (nice assortment of veggies, pickled things, cheeses, and sauces). Then they top the bowl with a toasted pita. Not exactly low carb if you get both the pita and the rice, but it's so delicious. One of their featured items is called the Athens Chicken Sandwich. Kind of a confusing name, as it's a fried chicken breast dipped in buffalo sauce, topped with cole slaw and pickles. But the chicken itself was outstanding. Crispy, dark exterior but super juicy inside. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Their fries are hand-cut, fried when you order. I'm not the biggest fan of hand-cut fries, but these were great, and topped with a light seasoning (kinda curly-fry-ish). They also have greek fries, which looked interesting -- not just the typical feta and herbs, but also some sort of creamy sauce. I could dock them a star for being a little slow, but they're new, so I'll cut them some slack for the time being. The people in there with me who were just trying the gyros got served pretty quickly. But I had three things to my order and, instead of starting everything at once, the cook made things one-by-one. Maaaannnn let me tell you something. I'm picky about my food. I know great food and i can NEVER find anything around NWI that wows me, but this place did! I've been craving some Gyros for the longest but never trusted anything around here. I've heard of this place since it first opened, but never took the chance because i get sooo mad when I spend money on nasty food! Today my Husband and i finally gave it a shot and I'm so glad we did! Everything on the menu looked really good, but of course we had to get the gyro sandwich. Let me start with 2 words. The first is can't, and the other is won't. Can't suggest that whatever endeavors you strive toward, you may come under significant difficulties. I inquire if it's possible to get a "de-constructed " gyro sandwich instead of a full plate order. The amount of food is less along with the price. I was informed that they CAN'T do that. Why not? this is our go-to spot when we need some great food fairly quickly - sure the gyros are good but what makes Athens stand out is their burgers and pizza well that's what i call it anyway technically they call it their Greek Quesadilla but omg it is as big as a small stuffed pizza!!! You can choose what u like in it as well and makes for great & easy leftovers! The Zeus burger is awesome as well! Eat it there fresh if u can or at least asap if u get it to go otherwise yeah the bun will get a bit soggy due to all the great stuff they pack onto it! This one-month old restaurant is owned by a delightful gentleman who is friendly and engaging. I had a falafel on pita, which was excellent, although it could have use a little more tahini sauce. I've called them on no less than 5 separate occasions no less than 10 times each trying to order and never once have I gotten an answer. I'm a pretty understanding person specifically with the service industry so if this was a one off on a Saturday at 6pm that'd be one thing but if you're not going to ever answer your phones at least have the online ordering function operating. I am so happy that I stopped in today to give this new place a try! It was AMAZING!! I ordered the shawarma bowl and a side of their famous fries! This place is to die for! The ingredients are so fresh and the portions are huge! (Although I ate the entire meal in one sitting because it was that good!) NWI has been waiting for a place like this and we finally got it! The food is usually amazing,but this time around it was the total complete opposite of what I normally experience. I ordered the quesadillas with the Greek fries. Very thin,cold,lack of cheese.
