This is our go-to place every time we are in the area. After living in several other states and having many gyros sandwiches, I have never found one that compares! Our family loves the gyros with feta and without. The fries are also tasty too! It is a casual place with ordering at the counter. There is indoor booth seating available. We will be back for sure! Thanks for taking care of our family since 2000! read more

I've always loved this place, it's a true Munster staple. Best chicken sandwich there is with shredded lettuce and tomato, and always with a side of fries. I feel that some folks have seen a change but that's how it goes. Time will always come at us, and everything is different from what we remember it to be. They are doing a great job keeping up with that change and look forward to many more years of great food. read more

good food great service never been disappointed with their food Clean operation bathrooms and all the food does not disappoint. read more

I called ahead to ask for my veggies on the side for a gyro plate, and the guy on the phone acted like I was being a huge inconvenience--even though the place was completely empty when I arrived. When my food came, the gyro plate wasnt even HALF full and soggy because the vegetables had just been tossed on top of the meat. To top it off, I only got half a bag of fries, and they were freezing cold. Save yourself the wallet pain and the stomach ache, definitely not worth it. read more

I love passing through Munster because it allows me to stop in for maybe the best gyros in all Chicagoland. I've been eating this meal across the USA and Europe so my expectations are high when stopping for this meal. I've been stopping at the location for about 20 years and their offering hasn't changed. The gyro plate comes with the fries and extra gyro, but also has some chunks of feta. A pickle slice and two pitas. Everything is high quality and I really love the Tzatziki sauce. I understand ownership changed a few years back, but they left this meal alone! Smart move! A must stop if your a gyro fan read more

How the mighty have fallen. Once a region staple is now a complete disappointment. From lackluster food taste (meat lacked flavor), to poor customer service, to more expensive pricing, this place is going downhill fast. Such a shame. read more

Huge portions with Gyros platter! I ordered by phone, walked in ten minutes later and order was hot and waiting, enough for a second meal and tasty! read more

Munster Gyro is a region staple in NW IN. There is a varied menu allowing for a fresh, hot off the grill meal. Soup, salads, and desserts are also included on the menu. read more

We tried Munster Gyros for the first time this week. We both ordered gyros and fries. The sandwiches were very plump with generous portions. Sadly, the gyros were just "ok." The meat was a little bland and the sauce was smooth..no little chunks of cucumber that I expect. There was mozzarella cheese between the pita and the meat on mine. Don't know what that was about. The onions and tomatoes looked and tasted like they had been around for a while. Service was prompt and friendly. While this gyros wasn't the best I've ever had, neither was it the worst. As Munster Gyros is a very well loved establishment in our community, I'll certainly give it another try but I'll probably try something else. read more

Recently, we hired Munster Gyros to cater a birthday party we had for my husband for 80 people. Michael Weichman, owner made sure everything was perfect. We ordered gyros, which came with pita, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and tzadiki sauce. We also ordered large Greek salads. All of the food was delivered ready to serve in perfect serving dishes. It was all beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious!!! All of our friends ate heartedly and most went back for seconds! In spite of the large crowd, we still had a ton of food left. All of the portions were very generous! I highly recommend this outstanding restaurant for any of your catering needs!! They are totally reliable, responsible and their food is guaranteed delicious. It is also a great place to stop in for a quick lunch or dinner!!!! Mike made sure our party was perfect!!! read more

Been going here for years. Gyro plate was very disappointing. Prices went up and they got skimpy on the meat. Will be trying somewhere else for my next gyro plate. read more

Munster Gyro is a MUST whenever I visit home. My husband and I love gyros, and even through all the places we've traveled in the military, Munster Gyro cannot be beat. The meat is hot and fresh off the spot, and they have some of the best tzatziki I've ever had. I highly recommend you ask them if they can put the meat on the grill for a couple minutes to get a really nice crisp on it! read more

Munster Gyros - Gyro - Greek Near Me - Munster, Indiana

Much better than a few years ago. Good service, clean, great food. I had a classic gyro and a much better experience than in time past.

I heard about this place and took a drive to check it out. Totally worth it. Gyros were incredible. Very fresh and great flavor profile. I can't imagine finding a better gyro anywhere. Quality fries. I added a slab of ribs because I had heard those were good. They were awesome. Highly recommend! Service at the counter was totally friendly just like you'd want. read more

Stopped off after a volleyball tournament with the family and loved it. Gyros are absolutely outstanding and will be returning for another one next time I am in NWI. Super friendly staff as well. read more

I was in town for business and wanted to try an authentic gyro, so I stopped by Munster Gyros. I was not disappointed! The gyro was phenomenal! The service was also great. Sad I can't find this in Texas. I'd be visiting every week! I'll be back the next time I am in the area. read more

Great place to grab lunch. Tons of daily specials. Prices are fair and the food is above average for fast food. The gyros are the star. They do make a mean gyro and I think it's all in the sauce. I am not sure I have ever purchased anything else but a gyro with fries so this review may be jaded. read more

I have been coming here since the early 90's. To this day, it is the gold standard for gyros. Anywhere in the country I got, I compare them to this place. I was able to get back recently and it was exactly how it was 30 years ago! The gyros, the fries, the place itself. I love that absolutely nothing has changed! This the the absolute gem of Munster. read more

The Gyro Sandwich was moist, flavorful, and packed with tender meat. The portion was generous and the price was incredibly affordable. Loved the throwback decor. Nice to go to a legit mom & pop shop rather than another chain. read more

Delicious gyros, Chicago-style! Piled high with at least half a pound of Kronos gyros meat, tzatziki, onions and sliced tomatoes, you have to eat 1/3 off the top to fit it in your mouth in a semi fold. Husband is local to Homewood, it's a favorite place for gyros. read more

Delicious! Always fast, high quality, and friendly. One of the best gyros shops in the Midwest.

09/27/2024. 5:10pm. I'm a long time resident of Munster. My kids grew up here. All of my kids know Munster Gyros and grew up on their menu as well as their friends. The previous owners took pride in their restaurant. Sad to say those days are gone. Went there on a Friday, after work, approximately 5pm. My wife had a taste for gyros so she suggested Munster gyros. The man at the register was quite rude. He was not helpful when asked a question about a menu item. I ordered a gyro plate. I specifically requested fries cooked to order. The man at the register threw my change on the counter. Made me feel if I was a bother. I don't mind the pricey menu if the food is hot and fresh. Well, its NOT. My wife was disappointed when she received the gyro plate. The fries were cold, as if they were sitting there for some time. The gyro meat was cold as well. She had to microwave the pitas and the fries as well. Want hot, fresh gyros served with a smile, go somewhere else. read more

A few things to know. We took a risk going here. The meat on my gyros and the tzatziki sauce was good, however the pita bread was super hard to bite into and apparently my knife didn't want to cut it either. Fries were served to me warm not hot, and they were super dry, just awfull. Also, beware, no greek salad on Sunday. Why?! Who knows, overall not so great, I don't recommend this place to anyone and won't stop again. read more

This longtime favorite is still top notch. Stopped for a late lunch while in town, and was in food heaven. Gyros were hot, perfect pitas, their house made tzaziki was creamy perfection and portions of everything were very generous. We usually share fries, as I only eat a few, but I bet I ate half of his fries because they were just the right combination of crispy outside and creamy inside. Thank you for satisfying my craving. I couldn't stop saying OMG this is SO good! read more

Great little local "greasy spoon" establishment. Good is good and fast, we have been going there for years!

Service was good, burger and chicken sandwich was tiny. Definitely a rip off. Maybe order something else or don't come here.

Our downtown Chicago firm catered from Munster Gyros (5/2/24), food was still hot & fresh upon arrival. I tried the Chicken Kabobs, Ribs, and Gryos, all is extremely tasteful and delicious, hands down. Don't get me started on the Tzatziki sauce, I have had my fair share of Tzatziki sauce and this is by far THE BEST I have ever tasted. I made the suggestion to keep this in rotation when our firm caters. I will definitely be taking a ride to Munster IN. in the near future. Thank you Munster Gyros‼ read more

I had about two days down time on the Indiana side of Chicagoland. Needed something inexpensive but the real deal, and followed the reviews here to Munster Gyros with a colleague of mine. We did not regret it. Walked in and felt a bit intimidated by the vast menu options. Really, I just wanted a Gyro. It was the best gyro in my memory, and won't set you back much. Beats the heck out of Arby's. Very much a 'no-frills' environment. I give it five stars. We will definitely be back. read more

Ok went to this place 2 years ago and tried to order a gyro cheeseburger and some old mean dude said no I asked can I order a cheeseburger and pay for the gyro meat and he said no I should have stuck with the energy of never going back to this place I saw on TikTok a review that looked good a while ago so against my better judgement I went today and ordered a gyro plate it was almost 18 bucks they gave me 2 pitas and enough gyro meat for 1 and 1/4 gyros the guy at the register was cordial but I did see the old guy working making the food so either they are just not customer friendly and the portions aren't worth the prices or the older guy is a racist I should have just went to highland gyro I could have gotten 2 full gyros fries feta and soup for 16 bucks read more

The gyros that I grew up on so of course I'm a little biased. The guys behind the counter are always extremely friendly and super fast. The food is always tasty. My usual order is of course the gyro plate. It comes with meat, pita, tzatziki sauce, feta, and fries. They cut the meat from the vertical spit and crisp it up on the flat top. They also do something amazing to the pitas, they get just enough heat and oil on the flat top to be that combo of pliable an crispy. I know folks who swear by the burgers, chicken, and shrimp. And every time I go I tell myself to try something new, but the fact is I'll be sad if I get anything other than gyros. Maybe I need to try the chicken with a side of gyros! They are absolutely my go to place for gyros and I will keep supporting their local business and you should too! read more

Ordered the Gyro platter with extra pita to make two meals while visiting Munster this weekend. Still top notch and doing a bang up job! read more

LOVE THEIR FOOD AND SERVICE. We have been going for years and the quality of the food is delicious and served the same

The only place I go to for Gyros. I've had other places like Highland Gyros and the food doesn't compare to Munster Gyros. The service is awesome and everyone is always cordial and greets you when you come in. They also have very good Italian beef and Italian sausage. read more

This review is for today Saturday Dec 26, 2020 Stopped in earlier before heading home for the evening to give these guys a try. My lady said she tried them so many years again so this is what prompted me to try them. So we ordered the gyro dinner and chili dog. So to start off I forgot to take photos of our meal as we were on the go down state when eating. Maybe next time I'll try to take photos. So my gyro looked good as it has everything in it from tzatziki sauce, 2 tomato slices, and a fair share of gyro meat. The chili dog had flavor as well, but sadly they put more onions than chili on the dog. The fries well tasted like fries, little salty no issue there. So mainly gave 4 stars based on the chili dog hardly having chili on it period. We will give it a try again when back in town, hoping today was just a fluke in portion size. read more

Always amazing. Same quality food and service for the past 30+ years. Ambience also unchanged. Always clean and well lit.

Decent food at regular prices. Something fast on the move. Not much to say about a cheese burger or gyro.

First of all let me say I don't even like gyros but these are amazing! Great hot dogs and fries too.

I ate here in high school and college. It was great back then. I stopped by for dinner on Monday and gyros tasted the same. The fries were a bit crispier, which I liked. The lemon rice soup was good, but needs a bit more lemon. I gave them that suggestion when I was there. The service is still quick and friendly. I heard it was sold about 2 years ago and was concerned, but the new owner has kept up the same great food as I grew up on and added a lot more. I look forward to trying the ribs and Italian beef. read more

Wow what happened I have been going here for many many years last week went and got 1/2 slab of ribs the ribs and fries were cold changed the Cole slaw and raised the prices. Was very disappointed also portion way smaller I've told a lot of people about this place for years now I'm going the other route and telling them don't go there. read more

I have not written in a while and felt the need to add a review for one of my all time favorite places to eat. I grew up eating the gyros, sandwiches and baklava from here and have had difficulty finding its equal. I had heard the owners were retired and wanted to see if any changes had occurred. I was pleasantly surprised to discover some of the old faces behind the counter still working there. I asked about any changes while waiting for my food. I was relieved to hear them say the new owner bought the recipes and had not changed anything. The food was the proof. All the same delicious flavors and taste I remember. The tzatziki sauce is the best I have ever eaten, and this includes many higher scale Chicago Greektown restaurants. I also dug up an article about the new owner who, like me, grew up eating here and vowed to maintain the tradition. After finishing my gyro plate, I had to grab an extra couple of gyros for the road. The guys were kind enough to throw in extra tzatziki after I mentioned how much I missed it. I will continue to say this is the best gyro place in the entire Midwest and recommend it to everyone. Best wishes to Michael as he continues dishing out the great grub! read more
