I had a great experience here! I asked for acrylics with a red French tip, but ended up changing my mind & keeping them nude. The price was very reasonable/average for what I got, just do your research by stopping in beforehand to stop you from being blindsided! After tip, my service was about $60, which like I said, is very reasonable. Ny nail tech was super friendly & fast & I enjoyed my visit. It was a Friday and Athens also has a huge college/teen girl population so there was a crowd, but I didn't mind the wait. I waited for about 25 minutes before being started on which wasn't bad at all. I'd definitely suggest making an appointment if you can to avoid waiting! The nails lasted 4 weeks which was great! They still looked good too I'll definitely be back, these nails were seriously beautiful! read more

I went to this nail salon while visiting my mother in Athens. I had driven there from Atlanta since nail services are much less expensive in Athens, and I chose this place because they'd been around so long and had good reviews on Google, so I assumed it would be a good place to get Gel-X nails done for a music festival. I was having a good experience at first. When Helen was curing my nails with the UV light, I could tell that something was wrong because I quite literally felt my nails burning a lot more than usual for Gel-X. I was wincing in pain. She put my entire hand into the lamp each time she needed to cure an individual nail, rather than painting all 10 and using a small finger-sized individual light on each single finger and then putting the whole hand in, which is the proper way to do them. So basically all of my nails were cured 1-10 more times than they should've been. I'm assuming why they all popped off the next day. Nails should never BURN the way they did during a new set, and they especially should not fall off the next day and then proceed to get INFECTED. All ten of my nails proceeded to pop off within 12 hours, and I didn't have time to go back. I requested a refund and was told I could get a new set for free, which would've obviously been a waste of time, or I would have to wait ~2 weeks for the manager to come back in town. I waited, and during that time, the leftover gel-x glue that was still stuck to my nails had broken at least 6 of my nails in half within 8 days. 5 days after that, I had a nail infection. My left middle finger was incredibly swollen and had green pus under the skin around my nail. This hurt to touch for about two days. Then, I tried to make it (again driving all the way from Atlanta to deal with this) to the salon to show them and get a refund, after work before they closed as it was the only day I was able to make it, and I was not able to make it in time. I had to leave for Brazil in the next few days, so I wouldn't be able to go in person. By the way, at this point, I absolutely would not have ever accepted a service from them ever again, free or not, which was a ridiculous offer and not at all equivalent to a refund. I texted the manager whose phone number I was given, and shared this information. I explained thoroughly what had happened, and I sent photos and videos of my broken and infected nails. I was told I would only be given a 50% refund, according to "their policy," so I explained politely that I was scared to let the salon work with my nails again so the free service would not be sufficient. I also explained that due to my suffering, I actually deserved more than a 100% refund, but that I would accept just my money back, and the manager quite literally ghosted me. No response since then. I cannot believe how careless this salon is with their customers, and I feel extremely disrespected as a person and taken advantage of. I am now working with a personal injury lawyer to fight this. This review is another attempt to communicate with the owner a second time before pressing charges as I am willing to accept a full refund, but also a warning to anyone considering going to this salon. For the sake of your finances and your time and health, please don't. read more

Had an appointment with Jenny to get my nails done for my wedding a day before we leave town. Showed up for my appointment and was told she wasn't there and that I was told she wasn't there when I called. I never called, I had made the appointment weeks in advance on Instagram. They asked to see the photo of what I was wanting and said they didn't even have the colors. Its pink and silver, they should at least have that. Then the girl started telling others that I specifically wanted Jenny and making jokes in front of me. I am not happy with how I was treated and that my time was wasted. I now have to find a replacement nail tech before I leave in the morning. Other times I have went I have left happy besides a one other occurrence. The nail tech painted my nails with the top coat and missed my thumbs. When I pointed it out she told me I should have been paying attention to what she was doing. I was with my friend talking during our appointment and I guess she didn't like that although she kept jumping into our conversation. That same nail tech has not done my nails since then but always gave me and my friend mean looks. read more

I'm so incredibly disappointed in the customer service at Athens nails. I showed the lady a picture of what I wanted (photos attached) I asked of daisys all over my nails. They told me it would be $30 since the design was "trendy" on TOP of the $20 for the gel, I didn't even get the full manicure. No cuticle cutting or anything, just a gel change. They were doing my nails while I was in the pedicure chair, which is awkward enough. I first asked for oval/round nails and she proceeded to make them square, I spoke up and asked her politely to make them more round. She just rounded the edges, so they're basically square with rounded edges. After the whole manicure was done I got a good look at them and was so upset. I realize that these ladies get so much shit from some woman, and I'm not about to be a Karen and yell at them. I did ask the girl when I was checking out if she could please not charge me the full $50 since it wasn't what I asked for. She asked to see a photo of what I'd asked for and said she could give me $10 off. She was about to when the woman who did my nails said I said they were fine. I didn't. I just saw the pinky, which looked ok but still wasn't what I'd asked for. The daisys were huge and the yellow was bleeding into the whites and the petals were wonky and so big on my small nails. Should I have said they weren't what I asked for in the chair? Yes. But honest to god I didn't pay attention to what all she was doing and couldn't see them completely. But I am incredibly shy, and introverted, and have awful social anxiety. The fact that I even spoke up at the end isn't like me, but I couldn't walk away with such an expensive manicure that was so bad. The lady then proceeded to charge me the full amount and just was like "sorry" I went to a different nail salon where they were appalled at the job and fixed it for me, for free. THAT is excellent customer service. Athens nails I obviously won't be returning, and I sincerely hope you work on your attitudes and customer service. read more

Has SNS with tips done at another salon and was ready to take them off after 2 weeks so decided to try out Athens Nails. I walked in and right away was surprised by how nice and clean it looks on the inside, definitely the nicest I've been to in Athens. It was decently busy so I was worried there would be a wait but they asked what I wanted immediately then had me wash my hands, pick my color and have a seat. I knew I didn't want tips again and they were very knowledgeable about what would be good for my nail type and health. They have quite a collection of different colors and styles of gel and SNS. Donna quickly removed the old SNS and began putting on a new set, whole process took less than an hour. She was very kind and friendly. They also give you a nail kit with a nail file and buffer to keep and bring with you next time. I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

I am visiting Athens for the summer and my nails and pedicures are my only vice. I looked at several nails salons in the area and settled on this one. The salon is clean a little on the older side but that's ok. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I asked for a complicated design for the 4th of July and they said sure we will try. Two hours later after taking his time my nails are perfect. I will return to this salon every time I come to town to visit. If you want really pretty nail are three this is the place to come. I used to ball out getting my nails done here every few weeks. They have beautiful ombré to choose from and also have unique designs that they can do for you , I love adding little dried flowers and what not. They do a great job with the dip powder and are usually pretty good with the pedicure. I think some ladies who work there give better massages than other ones but that can be expected anywhere. This place is horrible. Several problems... 1) I went to get a normal pedicure-- no extra frills or "luxury" scrubs. The base price is $17, so I figured that would include a pumice stone to scrub the dead skin off the bottom of your feet. WRONG. I was told that the $17 pedicure didn't include a pumice stone scrub because they didn't have any. $17 will only get your foot quickly rubbed with a small yellow sponge. How is that even a pedicure?! Thus, I had to pay $5 extra for razor to remove dead skin for a total of $22. That already annoyed me. 2) This place doesn't have any fans. After getting my toes painted, I asked if there were any fans I could put my feet under so they could dry (couldn't believe I even had to ask that). The technician told me that they only had one fan that wasn't used for customers behind a tech station. So I had to sit in the pedicure chair for 20-30 while I waited for the paint to dry. Inconvenient. 3) This place is very rinky dink. The inside looks run down and is in serious need of a makeover. Overall, I didn't enjoy this pedicure experience and I wouldn't recommend anyone spending their coins here. Don't do it to yourself! read more

Well to be honest I will not be returning to get my nails done here. I've been a customer for at least a year, they are very inconsistent with the quality of their work. One time you may leave highly satisfied and the next visit for your fill in or whatever your highly disappointed. I always leave a tip regardless but I'm done with this place I'm returning to my other nail salon this weekend. I was a guest at this nail shop while visiting Athens for the first time on business trip. This place was the most horrible customer service oriented place I've ever been to. Not a returning customer so they had no incentive to even be open to feedback because in their mind I was not an investment. I love giving great reviews only. However because of me speaking up to the manager quietly for their coaching purposes after I left, they created a scene in front of all other customers which was not necessary while I was there. Poor ability to receive feedback and unprofessional operating style! I do not recommend this place to visitors because you not returning to them means they can do whatever they want! This place is very inconsistent. My friends get their nails done here so they recommended it to me. I went here on a Tuesday evening around 5pm. There was about 4 people already there being serviced so I looked through the colors to decide what I wanted. After I pick a color, I wait a hour and a half for them to say they're ready for me. I go sit where they tell me to, and wait another 20 minutes for them to come start my nails. The nail tech rushed through my nails and I correct him numerous times after he smudged the polish. After he's finally finished I am waiting for them to dry and the polish is streaky (they probably put nail polish remover in the polished) so he puts another coat on them. At this point I am just ready to go home so I tip and leave. I probably won't return to this salon again. I usually live my friends' nails but my experience was not all that great. read more
