Ate here for first time and would eat here every day if I lived here. This place is a GEM. Prices for delicious, flavorful and fresh food was ridiculously reasonable. Portions are generous. The chef is AWSOME. Also when we left we felt great like after you eat healthy. Not stuffed stupid and bloated. My body was happy it was nourished and not heavy . And I ate a lot but I didn't feel like it! Try it and it will be your new favorite place to eat! read more

This place is a go to in Monroe! A MUST! The food is always fresh and the portion sizes are great. I usually always get a large kabob plate and the Greek salad is to die for. Whenever I go people have always been very friendly and helpful. It's located inside of a small shopping center but has the modern rustic vibes within the restaurant. I really enjoy this place and would recommend everyone give it a try. read more

Athena is my favorite go to restaurant for lamb chops. We always get ours seasoned well with rice & a salad. The food is delicious, the service is pretty good as well. You can usually get service pretty quickly. I definitely recommend. read more

The gyro pita sandwich was so amazing, best meat I've had in a while and very filling. The service was great and ambiance was relaxing. The average meal is $20 read more

Beautiful decor and friendly staff, highly recommend if you're looking for great Greek food. I ordered the gyro plate, did not give them 5 starts because gyro meat was not shaved off. read more

The ambiance was very relaxing. Amazing friendly customer service. The food was amazing had several different dishes and they all were delicious. Highly recommend read more

Be very careful of takeout orders. This is the only Greek place in town and their food is good, however, on more than one occasion they have given wrong items for takeout orders and then when returned to the store made to wait over 30 minutes for them to fix the item that only took originally, they said, 10 to 15 minutes from time of order to pick up. On another occasion after showing up half an hour after the order, they still did not have it ready and never provided the order and said they did not know it would be ready. This was ordered through DoorDash and I paid through them a so it appeared they did not care since they already got paid. DoorDash would not refund and the restaurant would not either. Just be aware that take out orders could be a problem. I did not give a bad review when the DoorDash incident happened, but since now its more than once and with zero remorse either time (nothing taken off nor additional items given and a very cavalier response) it was time to put it in a review. read more

Not enough Meat on sandwiches, maybe eat in next time. But the gyro was okay.. Add more meat to sandwich

This is my absolute favorite place to eat! They are fast friendly and have the best food!

This may have been the worst restaurant meal that I ate while working in the area. The best part of the meal was the hummus. The salad was as if they dipped it into the salt. The rice was okay but the tough Gyro meat was definitely tough. Whenever I come back to work in this area again I know that this is one place that wouldn't be on the top of my list. read more

I've been coming here weekly for over 8 years now and love the food, especially the Chicken Shawarma. The service is always good and the place has a nice relaxing ambiance. I highly recommend! read more

Always accurate orders and delicious food! I love the Gyro plate or Sandwich. My wife gets the Chicken Shawarma that is delicious as well.

We've stopped in here two times on our drive from Huntsville to Longview, TX. The falafel is delicious as well as the spanakopita and grape leaves. Hummus and Tzatziki sauce are on point also. Always a solid choice! read more

Very disappointed. Gyro was hard and overcooked. I'm from New Orleans, so maybe my expectations were too high. Service was ok. Inside dining was pleasant-looking. read more

I absolutely love this place. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly. I do wish they would get the belly dancer back. The food always comes out in a timely manner. I recommend this restaurant read more

They don't serve the authentic version of some foods and I can't believe they want you to pay $7.99 for a fourth of a cup of vegetables and call it Moussaka. It's not worth the price at all. read more

Traveling through Monroe on our way back to NWA we were looking for a safe place to eat for my celiac dietary needs. The Chicken Shawarma was our meal of choice. We were able to call ahead to order and the drive thru window was perfect since we didn't have much time to stop. The meal was ok and came with chicken, rice, hummus and salad as well as a slice of pita bread. Thankfully the bread was fully wrapped up but it still made me nervous as I did request the meal to be gluten free. The hummus was the best item in the meal. The salad was ok. The dressing good however the lettuce had a lot of the harder white pieces of the romain. The rice had green beans in it and it was not very flavorful and it was pretty dry. The chicken was really dry. I did request some of their Greek sauce but it was not included in our to go order. I think the sauce would have helped ease the dryness of the chicken. Because of their location I think it is a good place to try out, we just might order something different if we are ever in the area again. They really need to work on their gluten free information. Since it was clearly labeled on the menu and since I did specifically request gluten free when ordering I was very surprised the pita was included. They also need to work on their chicken, it was really dry! read more

Excellent experience. Some of the very best Greek food i have had in a while! Give them a try!

loved this Greek place! Daughter from Vegad danced for customers years ago before Athena moved to new location! After all customers was gone all of us sat around the hoka and for first time took a hit! Yuk Never no more! But lots of fun! ( love the ambience!) read more

I have now this family for year and the food only gets better. Lindsey is a wonderful server and very friendly

Atmosphere is great, nothing very fancy, but nice clean and calm. Server are attentive to your needs. Food is good and tasty. Bria was my server and did a wonderful job of meeting my needs. As I always say in any of my reviews...don't take my word for it go and experience Athena's yourself. I know I'll be back when I am in Monroe, LA. read more

Pretty good! I got the gyro plate and it tasted fresh and delicious! The humus was a lil funny and too oily but maybe it was a bad bath. The vibes are a lil interesting bc not that many people are usually in there. Still good food tho read more

Athena of Monroe - a plate of food on a table - Greek Near Me - Monroe, Louisiana

Had the sampler enjoyed it very much!!!! My friend and I have been there twice and both times it was delicious

Great Greek food for Monroe. We love their dips and kabobs especially. The grape leaves are also super yummy.

Bartender was a little to flirty... made me feel uncomfortable. The mood and ambiance of the place went downhill when I rejected the the advances and was treated poorly. Food is good but the service will ensure I never come back. read more

Environment: Very cozy and inviting with the aroma of Mediterranean seasoning. Service : Waitress was very sweet and kind. Could not fully explain the menu items. Food: Too salty, poor presentation, one of our dishes were missing shrimp and the waitress didn't know it was supposed to have shrimp. The cook late stated they were out of shrimp. So when were going to be told that ? Overall this place has a lot of work to do in order to retain customers. read more

Delicious food and good service. Was disappointed with the Baklava and the chicken was a little dry. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and we definitely come again. Cozy atmosphere. Perfect for date night. Oh and the rice was amazing! read more

This place is the first and best Greek place I've been to. I've never had Greek food so I decided to go here and try it for the first time. I got the the Lamb chop Delight and I would have to say that it keeps to its name. The grape leaf wraps were delicious and came as two different kinds (which I'm pretty sure were meat and vegetarian), the spanakopita was really good and almost melted in your mouth with a crisp outside, tzatziki was fresh and light and paired well with everything on the plate, and the lamb chops were delicious and cooked to perfection with a tender inside. So I can say that this place has definitely deserved this 5 star rating. read more

It's simply heaven!! This is my 2nd time having this deliciousness and I'm sooooooo glad!

Oh my, deliciousness! I had almost forgotten about Athena's after they moved from their old location. Good thing that I was craving Mediterranean and did a quick Yelp search of the area! I ordered the vegetarian plate with hummus, pitas bread, a feta salad, mousaka, spinach pie, and grape leaves! Every single dish was amazing! We picked it up in the drive through and I started eating before we left the parking lot (that's why there are no pics‍) The staff was super friendly and everything was fresh and tasted super authentic! I am so glad I rediscovered this spot. I will definitely be exploring their lunch menu next week read more

Wow ! Fantastic ! Was looking for semi healthy options while driving thru & Our tummies are SO happy : ) Flavorful & fresh. Big Gyros with salad & humus, Meat Mousaka with big salad & fresh Baklava some of the BEST we've had. read more

Ordered gyro sandwich. Price was high for the amount of food received. The meat was dry and unimpressive.

I love hummus and Athena has amazing hummus and homemade pita bread to use to dip! It's a quaint, yet inviting old fashioned feeling restaurant. It almost has a downtown lunch cafe feel from the 70s during lunch. I haven't dined at dinner time but I know the atmosphere has to change because the tabletops will have white linen tablecloths for that service time. I have enjoyed the chicken shawarma pizza, chicken shawarma plate, gyro plate, gyro sandwich, and the grape leaves. Try it if you like Greek!!!! You will leave full! read more

My husband and I decided to try something new and we stopped by on a Saturday for lunch. We were the first customers and found the place to be quaint and clean. Our waiter was fine, not overly friendly, but no complaints at all about the service. We both ordered the Gyro which came with a salad and hummus. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and we finished everything on our plates. It was so good that we plan on going back one evening to try some of the impressive entrees we saw on the menu! read more

Wow! This is such a hidden gem in this area. I don't travel to Monroe often, but when I do, we love coming here! The owners are from Lebanon and the food is authentic and fresh. Their hummus is to die for and their chicken shawarma has an amazing flavor! The staff is friendly and the food comes out very quickly. The pita bread is fresh and warm! I love their Grecian dip has the perfect texture! The menu is super affordable and diverse for anyone who wants something heavier or lighter. I love coming here and highly recommend it! read more

Went for a late lunch (around 3 pm) recently and was extremely impressed! The food was amazing, the drinks were cheap, and the atmosphere was really enjoyable. The only complaints I really have are the service and the menu. Our server was a little rude and seemed quite annoyed that we were there (somewhat understandable since it was a weird time) and the menu still advertised for a service that has been discontinued for a decently long time. It would have been nice to have an up-to-date menu. Overall it was still a really enjoyable experience and I will definitely be returning! read more

Good food and service. Ordered water, they brought out bottled water, without asking. The two people I was with both were drinking alcohol. Guys, don't do that. Please, your place is too good for that. read more

We were in town for my uncle's funeral and I stumbled across this place when researching where to eat on Monroe. I can't say enough about how AMAZING the food was. Between the Gyro, Shwarma, Grape leaves, and Kefta this place was out of control good. Service was prompt. Decor was pedestrian at best. But overall great value and food was legit. Some of the best I've ever had. read more

Over priced...middle eastern food. The chicken shwarma was the best thing. We ordered the mezza for 2.... Much of it tasted canned rather than home made. The name is a misrepresentation of the actual food in our opinion. We were here for the lunch hour and found it to be very dark considering the hour. We did however enjoy the fact that they played proper middle eastern music. The falafel we good as well. Overall it's too expensive for what you get, and we personally wouldn't return. read more
