I have been going to Saiko's salon for upper lash perm since 2019. She is amazing at what she does and through all my perms, I have never left dissatisfied! Her pricing is VERY reasonable compared to other salon's I've researched in LA and the quality of her work is superb. For appointments, It's easy to schedule a time and date through text. I like to go around every 2 months after the lashes completely fall straight. To keep them healthy, I just lash serum nightly and have absolutely no damage from the perm. Appointment goes for about an hour long, sometimes a little over depending on how long your lashes need to sit with the chemical for. It's a painless and easy process. For parking, there is free parking all day (with her receipt that you can show the parking guy) in the small plaza where her salon is located on the 3rd floor. You'll see Daiso when you enter the lot. There's also street parking around which can be packed. Another alternative is parking down the e next block next to Marshalls, Sushi Stop, Matcha Village which is free with no validation needed. Let me start by saying that Ms. Saiko is one of the most artistic and talented individuals I've met so far. Bravo! I discovered her atelier when I was walking around the building and was curious what the atelier is about by (pleasant) surprise, it offers make-up lessons! My husband got me make-up lesson from Ms. Saiko as a surprise present and a wonderful one. As I mentioned earlier, Ms. Saiko is a very nice and talented artist (expertise/skills/versatility)... and is a great teacher as well. She will change out her lash perm products depending on your hair texture and fragility, and will keep in mind if you have sensitive skin. Initially it was hard to get a weekend appointment because people book so far in advance. I have been going for a few months and love getting my lashes permed. She charges such a reasonable price ($50) and takes weekend appointments. I was going every 6 weeks but I think I actually prefer the look when most of my lashes are straight after 7 weeks. I was and still am the regular here for my eyelash perm treatment, in which she is well-known for, but one day I decided to have my hair colored done by her as well. And I am truly glad that I did!! I really enjoyed this place. I've wanted to try lash perming for a long time but there aren't very many places that do it so I finally ventured out all the way to the (gasp) westside. It was easy to make an appointment through Yelp, and I showed up to the correct place right on time. They are on the 3rd (top) floor of the building that houses Beard Papa's and Japanese market. Parking is in the structure but they validate. Once you go in they take you to lie down on a bed and they begin the process, I think it takes just under an hour for the whole thing, it's attaching your lashes to a rubber thing, putting the perm on, resting for like 15 minutes and then doing something else and then waiting another 15 minutes and boom you're done! I also tried lash perm and tint but the tint didn't make much of a difference since I'm Asian and my eyelashes are already black but the perm was totally worth it. Lasts about 6 weeks and after you want to keep getting it because it's tough to control your now out of control, unruly lashes. This process allows me to use regular mascara instead of waterproof which is nice. I ended up buying a package of 8 for a slight discount, I would highly recommend! read more

The lady Saiko is very serious, no smile at all, quickly did the service without a single word, then said wait 22 mins not open your eyes, then she quickly went to the inside room, leave me there and then no talking to me at all. I feel I have been treated like an no life plant or object. When I was laying on the bed, I couldn't believe such awful service from a Japanese store. In the end, I didn't leave tips on purpose so she asked me do I want to pay tips with cash. I have no cash and I explained why I don't want to pay tip. Then she forced me to pay tips and said, I never saw customer not paying tip. So I ended up paid 15% tip with credit card. But will NEVER come back!!!!! In addition, the right eye inner eyelid got red, swelling and irritated. Left eye is okay. I asked her and she said it's glue. My favorite new discovery in the Nijiya plaza on Sawtelle Blvd. (in Little Osaka). On the barely treaded 3rd floor, this quaint studio hosts 2 beds for eyelash perms, one sink/chair for hairwashing and a chair for makeup and hair. The staff consists of Saiko and her assistant, Eri. Basically, it's a personal and intimate salon where you can get big salon services. I used to go to Taka Hair Salon, where they charge you an arm and a leg for an eyelash perm. Decided there had to be a more reasonable and personal experience somewhere else, and I was right. Saiko was professional, efficient, detailed, and knowledgeable. She completed the service in about 45 minutes in a private room that was very comfortable. The bed had a nice leg bolster and blanket, and there was soothing music playing. So taking a nap during the service was like going to cloud 9. The end result was great. My eyelashes were very curled and she took great care in separating them for maximum effect. The only downside is my eyelashes are pretty thin, so separating them out made mine look even thinner. :( Oh well, no fault of Saiko's. The only thing that I noticed was that Saiko's assistant was not too familiar with their package deals. When I asked her about it after the treatment, she didn't really know what the discounts were. I LOOOOVE my lashes.... so much, that I almost don't want to give a good review because I don't want Saiko getting booked up with appointments. I generally have long but very straight lashes. They can only keep a curl if I use a curler and VERY waterproof mascara. Otherwise, if I try any other mascara, my curl falls making my eyes look like a Venus flytrap. I was sad that I couldn't use all the popular mascaras that give huge lush lashes. Now, I can!! No more false lashes, no more expensive eyelash extensions, no more curling tools! Just mascara (maybe some primer) and I look beautitul, wide eyed, and awake! I'll admit, I was a little freaked out when I smelled the chemicals so close to my eyeballs. I've been here 3 times for eyelash perms, and I loved the first two times but the third time, it was done very poorly. On my left eye, the eyelashes on the outer edge were randomly creased in the middle and just looked like a mess, while on my right eye, a section of eyelashes hangs lower (because the bend is farther from the eyelash root) than all the other lashes, making it look like I have a gap. It honestly looks as if I got extensions and some have fallen out leaving it very uneven. Don't know if this was just a once off bad experience, because like I said, I loved it the first two times (hence the 4 stars). I'll probably try going somewhere else next time and see how it is there before deciding who to stick with. read more
