We were told the place just underwent a little renovation. I don't love it nor hate it. I guess just a little underwhelmed since they have such good reviews. Hubby and I went on a Friday during our Catskills getaway. The place was busy and our server was really pleasant and super friendly. Food was mediocre, noting stand out but the Garlic Parmesan Wings were pretty good. Basil Tomato Soup was salty to my taste. Went to Ate O Ate tonight and the food was incredible along with the friendly service! If you are looking for great food in the Roxbury area you need to try this place! I had the rib special which fell off the bone. The homemade macaroni salad was delicious along with the garden salad and their homemade dressing. My wife had the steak tips sandwich which had pesto and mozzarella on it. The steak bits were extremely tender and the taste was amazing. My husband and I were out running errands and stopped at Ate O Ate At Shepard Hills for lunch in a whim. The setting is lovely, overlooking a pond. My husband had sliders which he said were great. You could tell they were freshly made and not some frozen, pre-formed patties. I had the grilled cheese dippers with tomato soup which were tasty and the perfect comfort food for a chilly Sunday. Ate O Ate catered our wedding at the Inn at West Settlement and our brunch at Shephard Hills Golf Course the following day. The food and service were both excellent. Ate O Ate are professionals and have clearly been doing the catering gig for a long time. Peg was communicative and accessible at every step of the way, and gave us more guidance than we can say our wedding coordinator did. They offered us a lovely tasting before the wedding and gave us advice on how to create a crowd-pleasing assortment. Everyone raved about how tasty, fresh and healthy the food was. Ate O Ate also did a great job of accommodating our allergy and dietary restriction concerns. We had a few people at the wedding with severe allergies to all major groups and everyone could eat heartily and happily. So grateful to them for helping make our wedding a huge success! read more

Absolutely horrible! Proceed with caution. The food was cold! There was no food truck as promised. The Bartenders were rude and cranky. No one wanted to be there. They think they are better then what they are. Everyone of the guests had something to say about their service and how rude they were. Their tip jars were filled with 20's as we are all big bar tippers and when the bride over paid the owner by $300 she had the audacity to say she isn't returning it and given it to the bartenders! Even the Bartenders said that night they are not used to being tipped this generously. Everyone was over tipping just to get in their good side because they would ignore you and couldn't be bothered with children at the wedding. I caught them rolling their eyes at my son when he asked for a Shirley temple. The owner said there are no returns even though we have all the payment records she said sorry I will not return. Please keep in mind the overpayment was sent with final payment. Not given at the end of night were it could have been confused as a tip. The owner knowing ripped the bride off. They bank on taking advantage of out of towners. How do you steal knowingly. How do you not say. I am sorry you are paid in full and the $300 you send me is over payment. It's shady and not who you want to do business with. Also bride had to supply all the liquor. A guest at the end of the night joking pretending to take DID NOT WALK AWAY WITH IT and the owner said due to that incident we are not returning the money. She admitted it was over payment. It was brides liquor and he didn't even take it. She made this up in order to rip the bride off. read more

Recently attended a wedding they catered and felt compelled to write a review to save someone else the aggravation of using them. All in all not a pleasant experience, we have been to tons of weddings and never encountered such rude and unpleasant staff! The bride was devastated to hear how the bartenders treated the guests, eye rolling, snarky comments and completely ignoring anyone they felt had too complicated of a drink order. I read another comment about a bride who overpayed and the owner wasn't honest enough to return it... I'm not surprised! Avoid this company, give your hard earned money and business to another vendor who doesn't treat the most special day of your life like a burden even thought they were hired to do a job!! read more

Ate.o.ate catered my daughter's wedding at the inn at west settlement barn. Unfortunately missed most of the cocktail hour offerings but our guests were raving about the offerings. The dinner was awesome served family style so people could try the various dishes offered the salmon, chicken and short ribs were great, and the squash lasagna was to die for. She invites you up to do a tasting which she does in a way to give you an experience of what to expect on your big day. Peg is accommodating, she is professional, she KNOWS HER STUFF, and she makes absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD food. We got the opportunity to eat from the food truck during a stay last week at the Roxbury Motel. The food was awesome. We got two orders of wings and they were cooked perfectly. Super crispy and the sauces were great, definitely not jarred mass produced bbq sauce. It had to have been homemade. It was delicious. We had emailed the owners to see if they were going to be in the area the night we stayed, they responded very promptly and even though they had not originally planned on being near the motel they showed up for the night. I would highly recommend them to anyone visiting the Roxbury area. read more

Ate.O.Ate recently catered a wedding welcome dinner we attended in Roxbury NY. The passed appetizers were delicious and plentiful. The dinner menu was appealing and also delicious! The wait staff - oh so pleasant and attentive as well. Rich and his staff went above and beyond by making sure 2 of our late arriving guests were well fed even after the dinner service had ended. Our friends had been on the road for hours and arrived tired and hungry. They, and we, were so thankful when 2 outstanding meals were placed before them - complete with a sampling of appetizers along with a full dinner. My wife and I were thrilled to experience the phenomenal catering for our family reunion by Ate O Ate. Starting with our first meeting with Peg to discuss all our choices for our cocktail party to the very last moment of our party, all was better than all desires I had. We began with an elaborate, elegant, and beautiful farmers table, which included a charcuterie of assorted meets, various cheeses, smoked trout, fresh pesto and sundries tomato spreads, fresh vegetables, and other treats. As each item began to dwindle ( all our guests couldn't start eating ) they were replaced. After about a half hour our warm Hors d'oeuvres began to be served by their charming, efficient, professional and attentive servers, Riley and Hayden. Our choices included separate mini crab, and shrimp cakes, shrimp scampi in mushrooms and fill cups, short ribs in potato cups, chicken satay, mushrooms stuffed with cheese, spinach cups, and quite a few more. I was always asked if the passed canapés were enough or did I want another round. After all guests were totally full and began to slow down all was cleared from the farmers table and was placed on different plates and reset on our table for later that evening. Included was also some of the hot canapés. Our kitchen wast then thoroughly cleaned ( even though the staff were meticulous and probably didn't need to clean as much as they did) which was greatly appreciated. If you are planning a private party or celebration of any kind you will NEVER find a more elegant caterer. Food is one of my greatest joys in life and Ate O Ate provided all that I could have asked for. Additionally the cost was reasonable and fair. read more
