Stunning tavern in the heart of Andes NY. Beautifully appointed indoors and out. Great local vibe, cocktails and crowd.

I planned a party recently for a stop on our recent Motorcycle run thru the southern tier of New…read moreYork. I hadn't been to Andes in decades. This little ski town is a hidden gem near the reservoirs of NYC in Downsville. The restaurant and bar are clean and well staffed. the buildings architecture is historic and the exterior space and gardens were well maintained. It was nice to people watch on the busy street. The food was good and on time for an event of 30 or so people. Terra was working and she made sure everything was wonderful. I really appreciated her efforts. I would definitely set up future large group events here at the hotel.

This is clearly a motel. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. They do not have a "front desk ". We found someone in the tavern who was able to check us in. That was the only time we saw anyone working related to the hotel the entire weekend. Before we even arrived at the hotel there were issues with communication. Some of the wedding guests struggled with their reservations and were charged more than what was promised when booking the block of rooms. It took several attempts Via email and cell phone to get this rectified. We were shown to our room and I was immediately disappointed. The room looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The first thing we noticed when we walked in the door was the musty, damp smell. It had a basementy smell to the room. Our room had two queen size beds that were as hard as a rock. There was no dresser to put your clothes. They did have a couple of hangers and two small shelves for storage. The carpet was dirty. There was a small table with two chairs. The table was all scratched up with chipping paint. The worst part was the flies! You know it's a bad sign when there's a flyswatter available in your hotel room!!!!! On the morning of departure, I pushed the toggle switch to turn the light on by the vanity and it popped off. My husband who is an electrician, popped it back into place but the light still did not work. As we were leaving there was no one at the hotel to notify of the broken switch. The following day we received an email stating that we would be charged for the "ExtensiveDamage" to the switch and vanity light! We responded to their email and stated that the switch and the light were intact and we could not understand what extensive damage they were referring to. We also reminded them that there was no one around that we could communicate this to, prior to leaving. I have never stayed in a hotel of such poor quality and customer service. I honestly would have preferred to have stayed in a tent at a nearby campground. Trip typeVacation · Family Rooms1.0Service1.0Location2.0 RoomsDirty. Musty smelling. Lots of flies!!

The beer is flavorful and I recommend "hooking up" your Brookie. Think Michelada, but with more citrus. They have a set menu for snacks so not really a place for a full meal. However, check the website as they seem to have rotating food vendors. We had the vegan nachos with Indian flavors which was amazing. It's a small space but that adds to the charm! Lots of outside seating, hunter lounge feels, and friendly staff with their mascot cat.

We arrived about 2 hours after opening on a Saturday afternoon in August and it was pretty packed. Since we had the dogs with us so we searched for a shady spot on a sunny afternoon so that they would be comfortable. Luckily we found one! The beer was good. We really enjoyed the Catch & Release, Mountain Life and the Dutchie. The basil in the Dutchie was really refreshing! We purchased Mountain Life and Dutchie in cans. The food was definitely not the highlight. They told us they were very behind and that the pizza would take an hour or more. They also wouldn't take our order initially because they had no buzzers left. We came back two times to see if any buzzers had come back. We ended up ordering the smash burger, the chicken sando, and fries. This order took about 20-25 mins. The Smash burger had a nice caramelization. The chicken sando was tasty, but not worth the wait. We will be back!
