Nadia is highly skilled, incredibly pleasant, kind and patient. She is attentive in ways one doesn't generally see -- making sure that one's body is positioned exactly as it should be. She also encourages the client to report any discomfort or pain without shame or hesitation. I highly highly recommend working with Nadia.

Actually, prior to Bodytonic, I've never been a part of any kind of regular exercise studio...no yoga, jazzercise, Crossfit, etc. So, I don't really have similar experiences to compare it to. But, now I have participated in weekly pilates classes at Bodytonic for more than a year and a half, and I have been enjoying my experience and seeing results! Bodytonic is located in an inviting and expansive studio space inside one of Pioneer Square's historic exposed brick buildings, which means only stairs to get to the third floor studio. They have a couple of changing rooms, three reformers, two cadillacs, a reformillac, one pilates chair, and six wall-mounted springboards. I've participated in private, duo, triple, and online classes with five different instructors, and I have enjoyed every single one. Nadia does require you to wear socks with the rubbery bottoms for each class, which I appreciate. I personally would not be into a studio that allowed bare feet. The instructors have all been patient and affirming, even when the exercises are very challenging...and I find a lot of the exercises challenging. (I am not a very physically flexible person.) I also enjoy that every class so far is a balance of stretching and strengthening, which I very much need. In terms of payment and choosing sessions, you pay up-front for four classes. And then Nadia will send you the next invoice as you approach the fourth class so you can keep going. If you miss a class, you can sign-up for a make-up one through the website member portal. One last thing. A few months ago, I was in a motorcycle accident. And my low back muscles had seized up on me. I had problems sitting for long periods of time because of pain. I was accessing massage, acupuncture, and physical therapy. They were helping. But I felt like I needed more. So then I signed up for a series of private pilates classes that would be tailored to my slight immobility. And my pain substantially decreased! There really is something about developing a strong core that is super helpful for pain and other issues in the extremities! I'm glad to be continuing on with pilates at Bodytonic, and even better, awesome to be supporting a BIPOC woman-owned business!

I love this little Pioneer Square Pilates studio so much that I now have an unlimited monthly pass…read moreto their mat classes and finally decided to join a co-working office that's a few blocks away. I started with one mat class pass at the end of July and really enjoyed that first class, so I decided to get the monthly pass for August... and then I decided to get another one for September. I love that the mat classes are at noon twice a week and that they just added an evening class and a weekend class. I will probably never make it to the Saturday class because I don't live in Pioneer Square, but the other days are perfect. Two lunch-time classes a week and one after-work class! I don't have any experience with the apparatus classes or private classes, but the group mat classes are great and I love the ladies who usually teach them (Christi and Whitney). There are usually 3-6 students present and the instructor always does a great job helping/adjusting anyone who is struggling with anything. Sometimes, they have two instructors present so one can focus on leading the class and the other can walk around the room and help the students. I also like that sometimes we just use the mats and our bodies and other times we also use small weights or the Pilates Ring or other things. All of the equipment is available at the studio, so you just have to bring yourself and some socks. The other pretty cool thing is they work on different parts of your body each time and while there are many standard exercises, it seems like we do something new each time. I've actually been "getting aware" of muscles I never knew about because it seems like a new muscle is sore after each class. They have a space for your belongings and two changing rooms, but no shower in the studio. The bathroom that's shared with the other businesses on the third floor (or is that the second floor bathroom? I'll have to check!) does have a shower, but I have never tried using it. Most people just get dressed quickly and go back to work. Love, love, love. Can't wait to take another class!

I decided it was time to give it another shot after hearing from a friend about her experience at Kinesia. After attending a few Apparatus Fundamentals classes, I can now say I am a fan of pilates. I have only had Chrystl as an instructor and I enjoy her classes. She uses great verbal cues and will hands on correct you when needed. The apparatus fundamentals class will go over the basics of using the reformer, wall units and other props. I have been working on improving my posture and strengthening my shoulders/upper back due to the joys of working at a desk. This class, with Chrystl's guidance, has helped me improve and reorient myself with those muscles. Apparatus Fundamentals is a wonderful class to those new to pilates or for those who want to refine their technique. I may try their other classes one day but I really enjoy this specific class.

This was the first studio I tried after moving to Seattle, and overall I have mixed feelings…read more One of the biggest challenges is the class schedule, it's just not very flexible for anyone with a typical work schedule. They only offer three levels, and the main introductory class is especially limited. There's only one weekend option at 10 AM; otherwise, classes are scheduled at times like midday on a weekday, which isn't realistic for most people. The instructors are also hit or miss. I took a few classes with Priscilla and would highly recommend her! She was supportive, encouraging, and made the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, I had a very different experience with another instructor Nene. During one class, I was repeatedly called out in front of the group and asked multiple times if it was my first session. Instead of offering constructive guidance, the approach felt embarrassing and discouraging. It was especially disappointing given that it happened on my birthday, and ultimately it's the reason I chose not to return. In terms of pricing, it's fairly standard. They offer an introductory package (around $100), but memberships are quite expensive, and drop-in classes are about $40. Overall, I wouldn't return. I'd recommend looking for a more inclusive studio that offers better scheduling options and a more supportive environment for all experience levels.

After injuring myself weightlifting last summer, I learned I have moderate to severe arthritis in my neck and mild arthritis in my right knee. I missed my workouts deeply, and on my acupuncturist's recommendation, I decided to try Pilates. I'm so grateful I did. It's not unusual for me to wake up in pain, walk to class, and then feel completely pain-free just minutes into the session. That alone feels nothing short of remarkable. Everything at this studio feels seamless from scheduling to class flow, but what truly sets it apart is the exceptional customer service and thoughtful training I received while adjusting to classes with a sore, healing body. Now that I'm doing so much better, I actually crave these classes because I always leave feeling stronger, more mobile, and emotionally uplifted. A special shoutout to Gabriel at the front desk, the incredibly kind staff member who onboarded me (I wish I remembered her name--she is wonderful too), and the phenomenal instructors Robyn and Monica. They are ah-may-zing. Each of them makes me feel genuinely seen, valued, and heard, and I'm continually impressed by how attentive they are to individual needs while bringing such depth of expertise to every single class. Club Pilates SLU has become an essential part of my healing and self-care journey, and I'm beyond thankful for this studio and the people who make it such a supportive, empowering space.
