This ATA Landscaping Review was inspired by Craig the Fertilizer guy, aka "The One-Man Wrecking Crew" specializing in large tire skid marks, brown spots, splattered foundations & fences, and a broken gas meter. The owner regards him as one of his best guys. Yikes. I really miss ATA Landscaping after using them for 2 years due to a torn meniscus. I miss them scalping my lawn so I could correct it with Green Lawnger turf paint. I miss them over-trimming the driveway from a 2-inch trench to a 6-inch trench. I miss the Hooterville Fence Installers. The billion dollar white vinyl fence was mis-measured and the added $500 piece is falling apart. The geniuses then installed the Gate over an obvious sprinkler head. Paid $95 to relocate it. I miss their fertilizer guy who rammed into the gas meter, broke it, then left. The Plan of Correction? Don't fertilize the backyard anymore for the same price. I miss him splattering fertilizer on my painted white foundation and white fence that I would have to correct with two coats of Kilz 2 White Primer. Be Forewarned: If you complain about the fertilizer guy, he will muck up your property beyond recognition twice as much the next time out. That's when I finally canceled ATA. I miss squandering $6,400 over 2 years that fueled my complaints to a company whose motto is "The Customer's Always Wrong". Good riddance to the Wrecking Crew. Adding photos as proof. There should be some accountability for such dishonest businesses who rip off customers . Spend your hard earned money on a reliable company ,there are many out there . I got a quote from ATA lawn for weeding and pre - emergent placement ONLY . They scheduled the service a month out and the guys stayed for 1.5 hours-touched only the front of the house and sent a bill for our agreed price- when I complained about job not done, they apologized and se a crew that actually did remove the weed (hand pulling , + pre emergent placement - I confirmed this with cameras) NO PRUNING or TRIMMING -ABSOLUTELY NOTHING else . A few weeks later I got a bill for over $700 . This was shocking. We feel cheated and betrayed, we don't leave google reviews but I feel it's public service and right thing to do. We have been charged $1033 for WEEDING SERVICE . When I told them how wrong it is they kept giving excuses like oh you didn't get spring clean up from us , " it took longer, we charge per hour" things that don't make any sense. We paid them the money but we feel ripped off and wronged. It's almost $115 an hour - which is more than what average families can afford . Love this company. Six months ago, they did my spring clean up and mulch. They were fast and well priced. They even beat my old landscaper. Recently, I filled out a web form for a quote and they arrived two days later for a walk through . Work was completed 2 days later. Very good pricing on nine landscape lights and new transformer. The workers explained everything and cleaned up after themselves. Quote was very good value. Lights were pretty fancy and well made for the price. I highly recommend this company. At first when you see the brand new truck pull up with the brand new equipment and you hear how smooth the owner, Tyler, talks to people, you'll first assume this is a legit business and surely, the guys working within are professionals held to professional standards. YOU COULDN'T BE MORE WRONG. This company allows ALL their foreman to actively sell marijuana within the company AND use it as well for personal use WHENEVER THEY WANT and still continue to operate the truck with trailer. ATA also allows crewmembers to drink, use drugs, or smoke weed whenever they want as long as they dont fuck up. I am a former employee of ATA and i actually resigned the second i saw these shenanigans taking place. If you can even get past the previous information, ATA's foreman are equipped with a whole 3 years experience, constantly put ruts in your yard, the edging is frickin terrible and they dont sharpen blades regularly which is pathetic! SO, If you are a person who wants the WORST lawncut ever AND your kids being offered drugs by the guy giving you the worst grass cut or mulch job ever, then call ATA .....aka...ALL THE ASSHOLES. Tyler will be right out to collect your money and rip you off for as many weeks/months/years as you allow him to. Just dont do it folks. So many more reputable companies out there that arent committing crimes on a DAILY BASIS. ***NOTE*** 20$ says the owner responds to this claiming he fired me or some other excuse as to these claims being false. Can't speak of their landscaping but if you are looking for fencing, skip them. My daughter picked them for fencing and it was a SH#% show from the beginning. Took old fence down and left it open to the neighbors till the next day. Because of a decline in the yard, the installation left 6" gap to the ground. After many calls and emails they said it would cost more to fix their mistakes. STAY AWAY!!Had to give one star to post. Social media is a powerful tool as is word of mouth. read more

Called for weed control and asked cost. They said they would assess and let me know. I said my budget and what my limit was. I came home with work somewhat done and than a bill over my budget. No one called to get my approval, no contract and no consent. There was absolutely no customer service as they were curt and stated that is how they do business. Tyler (the owner) and his crew did a paver patio project across the street that is nothing short of amazing, but I'll let that neighbor write their own review. Toward the end of their job I asked him to come over and give us some ideas for our front yard; we wanted everything taken out and replaced with new plants and a retaining wall. He had samples in his truck, and promised to leave some more on the porch the next morning, which he did. We have an association that has to approve any projects like this so we scheduled a few weeks ahead of time. I was able to keep in touch with Tyler and text him pictures of what we liked and he gave prompt feedback on the pros and cons, the sizes they would grow to, what kind of maintenance we could expect, etc. Together we planned a full redo, and I received reminders the night before they were scheduled to show up, and who I could expect. Ben and his crew showed up at 8 Monday morning as promised, and boy did these guys work. They were a well-oiled machine all though the demo, prep and reconstruction. The guys were polite, professional, on time, and worked until 4:30 and 5 pm, no cutting out early for this crew. Tyler came several times throughout the project, gave further direction, conferred with me on various things, whether it be an updated timeline, or choices on shrubs. I told him what I wanted but then didn't like it once it got there, so, no problem, away it went and was replaced with the perfect specimen. The whole job was supposed to take 3-4 days, but they finished in 3. Tyler was very thorough and even took extra time with my husband to review the additions to the sprinkler system and get it all set up. In all, Tyler was flexible, prompt, very knowledgable and gave tremendous customer service. Ironically, toward the end of MY project, my next-door neighbor came over and hired him for HER patio, which, pending the approval of the HOA will commence in A few weeks. I did find out he has done several other yards in my development too. All the neighbors have been saying how nice it looks, and we are thrilled with the outcome. I am happy to write a good review for him, and would be glad to correspond with anyone who wants more info. One other thing, the quoting, billing, payment, and service reminders are done electronically, and are very convenient. I have two broken windows and a hole in my siding, on the side of my townhouse, from ATA Landscaping. He denies he did it and is trying to blame my neighbor's landscaper. Yelled and cursed at me on the phone. Between this year and last year, I also have four holes on my siding in the back of my house which he admitted to. I was suppose to get a reduction in the price of pavers but me never made it that far. I should of fired the company, ATA Landscaping out of Berlin, after the damage to my backyard. Please don't let this happen to you. I tried to submit a homeowner's claim and the damage is right below my deductible. The insurance adjuster confirmed that my landscaper did the damage and not my neighbor's company. Since I'm not going through my insurance company they won't fight for me. The owner of, ATA Landscaping, wouldn't even come out to see my damages. He didn't want to want our time. He know what a broken window looks like. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!! I wanted to love this business. I really did. But it just didn't work out as I had hoped. In short, after 2 weeks of waiting, they were a no-show. We wanted to hire a landscaper to do some moderate to heavy spring cleanup in our yard. I heard about ATA through word of mouth from a friend who did not use them, but used a local farm and garden store which highly recommended ATA. When I first spoke with Tyler, the owner, on the phone, and when he came out to give an estimate, he was very nice and professional. He gave us a written estimate, some literature and brochures about the company, and set a date for the work to be done. That date came and went with no work being done. The next day, Tyler called me to say that his crew went out, but had to leave because "bees were swarming" around the house. This sounded unusual to me, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Tyler asked me to look around for any bee hive, which I did, found nothing (even looking in my crawl space since they allegedly were coming from the house). I called Tyler back, told him my findings, and he rescheduled for the following week, Monday or Tuesday. Monday and Tuesday came and went with no service. Giving a couple extra days leeway because we had some poor weather, I placed two phone calls and left VM messages asking when they planned to come out. After no return calls, my husband and I had no choice but to start the work ourselves. Ultimately I called and left another VM cancelling the full service. How disappointed I am in this business! I had such high hopes after our initial meeting, and assuming everything went well, planned to hire ATA again and again for our regular spring and fall maintenance. They've lost the business of not only myself, but at least one friend who was waiting for my review before considering them herself. read more

What a GREAT company. They are professional, knowledgable, and quick. They transformed our front yard from ugly to beautiful in just one day. Tyler is very nice. However, they do not cut low enough and if you choose the biweekly service you really need it every week in the summer. They are flexible with payments and the price is competitive. I would give them a shot but make sure you tell them to cut low from the very beginning. read more

We used Ata to remove and construct a wood fence on one side of our backyard. Initial communication was great with a quote completed very soon after our first contact. The estimate was very reasonable. By noon on the day of planned service, no one had arrived. When I contacted the office, they mentioned the supplies was delayed. I am glad we didn't need to take days off to be around for service. Service was rescheduled for the following week. Day of that service, around noon, still no crew. They came around 230 and worked for a couple hours to remove the old fence. They didn't tell us they were leaving so we didn't even have a chance to mention to neighbors no fence would be up over night. There was a serious lack of communication. On the second day, the crew seemed confused as to how to put up our fence because our yard slopes. They left up 2 of our posts because they would have had to be dug up near our irrigation drain. No one asked if that would be preferred. The gaps under the fence where the yard sloped were huge. Thankfully they came back out to fill those in with dirt. I would still be afraid animals could get into our backyard under them so I will have to find another (hopefully not costly) way to protect my yard. Apparently this is the only way to put a wood fence in on a slope, but again it wasn't divulged to me so that I could have chosen another Avenue or had them help construct landscaping to hide the gaps keeping my backyard safe. One of the posts in the middle of the fence had a huge wedge in it facing my yard, but I was told it would cost me more to dig it up and turn it to face another way, which is pretty ridiculous. I was discounted a little for the post but that doesn't help give me a full aesthetically pleasing fence. This company may be great for landscaping but I don't think fence construction is a strength. read more

After our previous landscaper did not work out due to his repeated no-shows and poor quality work, my husband and I received estimates and spoke to a number of local landscapers and settled on ATA. We have been quite happy so far (2 months). The online portal and prompt communication (they return calls and emails the same business day, are courteous and responsive) make doing business a pleasure, as we are never in the dark about what to expect and the timeliness of the service. They do a great job mowing (and we always know when and who is coming the day before), and they have just done spring clean-up, weeding and mulch, which made our lawn look terrific. Their work is a cut above what we have seen locally. They are priced competitively and can explain why they cost the way they do, so whilst theirs wasn't the cheapest, it was also not the most expensive bid we had received. We are very pleased. Their manager, Tyler, and their receptionist, Gail, have been particularly pleasant to deal with, so we look forward to a continuous positive business relationship. read more

Based on work done last year - Wasn't happy. My yard was torn up by machinery. That was not explained beforehand. When I had asked about the use of machinery before work started I was told there would just be tire marks. Instead the yard was obliterated. They planted seed to replace the grass, which required us to spend an hour a day watering. The grass didn't fully come in and what did come doesn't match the rest of the yard. Now that I can cut some of that grass my mower blades are getting chewed up because they didn't rake those areas, or didn't rake them well. Before mowing I got a lot of the big stones out but there are many small ones left. I should have used another company I received a quote from who stated they wouldn't use any machinery. They were cheaper too. In addition, the owner got snippy about my disdain for the work done and my hesitancy of paying him the balance, which like a fool I ended up doing. Just an overall lack of customer service. I don't work in the business but I hear that the rule of thumb is to leave the place looking better than when you got there. This is a case where that overwhelmingly didn't happen. They had put in a little patio as well. A year later there are weeds growing between all the tiles and it looks terrible. He had told me that it would be rock solid for a long time. There are cracks everywhere. I recommend not using this company. read more
