I had him do an estimate for painting a few rooms in my condo, he provided the quote and an estimate on when he could start working. Since COVID-19 social distancing rules were not yet established the start date changed a few times over a few months, which is completely understandable. I would text every 3-4 weeks to check on a start date. He replied with a date and I replied right away to confirm. The day before he was supposed to start I figured I would reconfirm that he was starting the next day since he had not said anything since asking me if that date would work. He replied on the day very rudely with "I never confirmed for today at 2 I'm booked at this time. I asked when the next available date was and received no reply. Why would he ask me if that date worked and I replied within a minute of him asking me, so it was pretty safe to assume we were good to go. He has done projects for us before and everything went great, so I am not sure why he decided to be rude. Needless to say, I found someone else that is more reliable. Sorry Artie, I thought highly of you and recommended you to friends because of the great work you did before, but how you handled things was unprofessional.

He is customer-service oriented and knowledgeable on a wide range of home maintenance and repair issues. He came to my house and consulted with me on solutions and offered some good cost saving alternatives, then gave me a reasonable quote, broken down by labor and materials to do the work. He showed up exactly on time and not only did what I originally contracted him for, he also adjusted his schedule to address a few other issues for me while he was there and advised me on some things regarding preparing my house for sale. He's thoughtful, skillful, careful, clean and doesn't take short-cuts on his work. I've dealt with other "handymen" in the past, but Craig is heads and shoulders above the rest - he's not your typical handyman. The repairman that I initially spoke with over the phone was super responsive and very polite. I was so impressed by the Yelp reviews and by the phone call that I immediately scheduled an appointment with him. After I finished setting up the service appointment we discussed the time, location, and other details. I immediately placed an order from my local hardware store and to have all the items (appliances) shipped to my home. The day before the scheduled appointment the repairman messaged me that he made a mistake and that he was supposed to schedule my appointment for the following day. He also mentioned that I did not send him a deposit to lock in my appointment as if I lost the appointment due to not paying him a deposit. I was confused! We never discussed a deposit or a deposit amount when I spoke with the handyman over the phone. I did not see the other Yelpers reference in their post anything about Zelle quick paying their repairman for a deposit. I thought something was odd I immediately thanked him for his time and told him I would not need his company to complete the repairs!

It was seriously not that much time, but I really appreciated that he let me know. He identified the problem and got it taken care of quickly. Since I had him out for a service call, I asked for an estimate on putting in some lighting that I'd been considering and he was happy to to it - I got the estimate the next day and it was very much in line with the costs I'd heard from others. I haven't moved forward with the work yet (so many home improvement projects, so little budget!) but when I do, I'll be calling JF Industries again.
