Perfect for Sundays in Norway after a weekend of Mayhem

At Home really is a home Superstore. This place is Huge. Think Super Walmart size, but it's all items for your home. Think home decor, rugs, furniture, bath, bedding, patio and garden. They also have a lot of seasonal items for summer and the major themed holidays. From what I remember, their Halloween stuff was pretty cool and they had lots of fake trees at Christmas. Some items are a great deal and some you can probably find elsewhere for cheaper. But if you want options, you should stop in for sure. On this visit, we were looking for wall art and they have many different sizes and types of decor items. Some of these items are gigantic and you may need a truck to get them home. Plenty will fit in a car as well. They even have monstrous clocks if you have a huge wall to fill and still like clocks with hands. In the past, we looked at patio furniture, beds, bar stools, statues, end tables, lamps, rugs, pillows, lights, and many other items. I have made multiple purchases here and continue to go back occasionally if I have a particular need I'm trying to fill. There's so much stuff, it can be overwhelming, but it's organized into sections pretty well. It also has a warehouse feel to it rather than a store, so keep that in mind when you plan a trip. It used to be called Garden Ridge and they did a re-branding about 5 years ago. The store has been here a while even though it did go through a name change. Kind of like Wal-Mart becoming Walmart or Kentucky Fried Chicken becoming KFC.

Gigantic home goods and furniture store on the Waterford Lakes side of town. This location has been several things until finally settling on this store. There overall feel is very warehouse vibe. It has aisles and aisles of products from bar stools to bedding to picture frames. There is one main entryway. Once inside the furniture area is mostly to the right and straight back. Home decor and other supplies are mostly to the left, along with the register check out area. Pricing seems high on some items while others are a deal. Shop around and be sure to look for sale tags and signage. When we went this weekend they were having a good sale on frames, toy bins and party decor. The register area was one of the downfalls. Although it was one line for all registers, it still felt like it moved slowly. Overall: A Super fun home decor and furniture store. Be on lookout for sale tags!!

This store is home decor heaven. I went in thinking it was going to be filled with junk but it's filled with treasures! They have every decor category and loads of selections to choose from. The rug section alone is 1/3 of the store. I have already gone 4 times in two weeks and purchased curtains and organizational items. Their prices are great. At the back of the store they have a section for discounted furniture but beware that it may be damaged. They have a large seasonal section, if you're into that. I'm not. I will be going back for more things in the coming weeks. They don't have too many employees so if you need help with something you might have to walk around and find someone but everyone has been friendly so far. Go with time if this is your first time because the store is huge and you'll want to see everything.

Michael Jackson "Beat It" blares overhead as I glimps a hot pink christmas tree ahead of me, yeah, it's gonna be a dope store. It's very similar to Old Time Pottery, huge, wide variety, fun. Tons of outdoor and indoor decor. The prices are pretty good but a little higher that Old Time Pottery or other similar shops. They have a ton of art and furniture that was unique. This is a stop where you can find cool gifts for anyone. The staff was really nice as well which is a nice addition to a place like this. They had a kids section which I am not used to seeing in spots like this which may be good for holiday shopping. I will def be back.

Orange and blue Christmas trees in August, wow, that is really pushing the season, but if you want an inflatable witch or cat for Halloween, you can find one there also. This store has had a couple of lives but this is truly the most colorful. Eac h wall is painted a different primary color and there is merchandise everywhere. There is so much to look at, you don't know where to look next. Candles, silk flowers, lamps. lampshades, clothing, suitcases, mirrors, picture frames and aisles and aisles of home decor. On one visit I found upholstery fabric, remnants but all I needed was a couple of yards and what a great price. I was able to reupholster the seat cushions on two chairs for less than $10.00. You can find just about anything you might want and lots of tempting things you don't need.

BUT, I do have to say one thing....unfortunately, you cannot take home the shop's lovely and amazing "employee," Carol. She is Marvin's mother, and she is an angel on earth. Really, she is. I visit this store about once every 4 months and she always remembers me; now, we just walk around and chat about all the amazing history and curiosities. I should also say that this place's prices are reasonable. There is another retro furniture store in Orlando, and EoR's prices are nowhere near theirs. They also have vintage clothing, custom hats, and lots of art and decor. Ok, I'll stop. I could go on forever. I'll attach just a few photos of things I have purchased, considering half my home was furnished at Echoes of Retro.

The furniture didn't feel random or thrown together. Each piece looked like it had its own personality. There was a carved cabinet that felt almost regal, a chunky table that seemed like it could survive anything, and these little decorative pieces that looked like they'd been collected with intention, not just ordered out of a catalog. You get the sense that the inventory has traveled more than most people. The bar in the back wasn't open when I stopped by because I was there earlier in the day, but he explained the schedule. The Imperial Bar opens Wednesday through Sunday in the evenings, usually starting around 5 pm. So daytime has this calm, treasure-hunt vibe, and nighttime turns the place into a cozy little hangout tucked inside a furniture store. It's one of those spots where one visit makes you feel like you stumbled onto something special.

According to their website, Out of the Closet Thrift Store (OTC) was founded in 1990 to help raise funds and awareness for AIDS Healthcare Foundation. When you shop or donate at Out of the Closet, 96 cents of every dollar made goes to AIDS Healthcare Foundation's HIV prevention and treatment services. Dropping donations off is very easy- you pull up just past the front retail door to another closed exterior door which has a sign to ring a bell for assistance. From there someone comes out to receive the donations. As a thrift shop, I've been able to find a great furniture piece as well as a few tops. They have lots of clothes and some home goods, depending on the week. With that said, it's not the best thrift store in terms of inventory and pricing, but you know you're supporting a good cause and there are some hidden gems. I'll keep donating here and perusing for some fun thrift finds!

For those unfamiliar with Moroccan decor, I am posting lots of pictures because a picture, especially in this case, is worth a thousand words (or more). These Moroccan accents are pricey, some very pricy, but the prices are cheaper than a trip to Morocco. In addition to the exotic and pricey items, the store also offers a few cheaper touristy items. For example, the store sells cheap, gold-tone genie lanterns. The store is small and crams lots of wares in its limited space, even stacking items on top of each other. Given the crowded wages, be careful with large purses and children because and accident for the unwary is likely. Additionally, some sections are more dimly lit than others, adding to the potential for accidents.
