Did I really rate 5 stars to AT&T? The service was quick and efficient. I walked I without an appointment and had my new phone within a matter of minutes. It helped that was ordered my phone online with an in store pickup so my account was already set up. Some quick paperwork and I was out the door after just a few minutes. It really helped that I came in during a quiet time early afternoon when there was no waiting. The sales associate was very helpful. Plus. I've read the tough reviews of this place and I have not had the same experience. The staff has always been friendly with me and always able to solve my phone issues without any hassle. They have even gone above on a few occassions and swapped out SIM cards for free or changed iPhones for other color options. I think the look of the store is a bit dated, when compared to the new AT&T store on Westshore (just south of International Mall). Also, driving to the store takes a bit of planning and foresight. I have had mixed experiences each time I have visited this location over the past couple of years, and after this Saturday, I can now say with confidence that the overall experience is 100% dependent upon which employee assists you with your visit to the store. The gentleman waiting at the door to put you on a wait list is a bit off-putting. As typical, he asked me why I was there to visit and upon hearing my response, tells me that the warranty shop next door closed and that the location's purpose was to never help people "fix" their phones. Well, thank you sir! Nothing like a bit of condescending behavior right off the bat! He wastes no time at all. Following my greeting experience, I roamed around the store perusing the devices for sale while waiting to be helped. When I stopped a gentleman by the name of Rick to ask him a couple of general questions, he was incredibly friendly and responsive...but unfortunately he was preoccupied with a different customer. Which meant that I had the oh-so unlucky fortune of being "helped" by Megan. This is the same Megan who attempted to help me almost a year ago - and I was only reminded of such because she spoke to me in the exact same manner, with the exact same attitude - impatient, patronizing and 100% could not care less attitude. Following my previous experience with Megan last August, I made sure to contact her district supervisor regarding the way she conducted herself. Clearly, no follow-up was made. Meanwhile, I am left with no solution to my phone's battery problem but to "wait out the duration of my 30 month phone commitment", which - according to Megan - was "the biggest mistake" I could have made, because "phones are not meant to last beyond two years". Seriously? Not to mention that I have only had this phone for a mere 9 and a half months - which would allow me to conclude that AT&T's insurance offer is a total scam since they clearly sent me a refurbished phone that depreciates at an absurdly rapid rate. Albeit doubtful, I am still a bit hopeful that a diligent AT&T rep is actively monitoring this business profile. There are plenty of competitive cellular providers out there that may be able to provide me with a better deal than 2 gigs of data for almost $100 and a phone with little promise for its functionality. read more

This is the regional AT&T Wireless store for any kind of service repairs which cannot be handled by your local retail outlet. In addition this is also a retail AT&T store. I'm not overwhelmed by the quality of service that I receive at this store or their repair center, although I cannot ignore the fact that they are always busy and must have a lot of sales. I told them that I had recently purchased a new Samsung Galaxy 3S phone at the Carrollwood store, and was searching for the screen protector. The first words out of the smirky sales rep's mouth were "Ohhhhh, you're from Carrollwood. What are you doing down here?" You know those moments in life when you think seriously about reaching across the counter and choking the ever-loving crap out of the obnoxious a$$hole who is standing there? *ahems* Well, needless to say, they didn't have what I wanted, and so I drove back up to my Carrollwood store and had them order it and ship it FREE to me. Marco was very kind and knowledgeable about AT&T's ongoing promotions. He was able to upgrade my moms phone quickly and efficiently. We had previously went to three AT&T stores and got contradicting answers and they didn't have the phone she wanted. Marco was able to process the upgrade, set up her new phone and answer all of our questions. We left confident with all of our questions answered. The ease of the process made my moms day after several missteps at other stores. Definitely will go back to this store when it's time to upgrade our other phones! Untrained staff, deceitful articulation of pricing, over-priced, and exceedingly hard to reach and work with customer support. I wanted a new set of phones. I was quoted "OK" prices and the free phones were very nice. The initial sale took nearly an hour to complete-ugh! 1. The salesman mis-entered my phone # making my phone useless and causing me to miss calls. 2. I went back and he fixed the phone number by adding the correct one but not deleting the first. 3. 6 days later I finally get the bill and it charges me for my 2 lines plus the erroneous mis-entered line. Also the final bill is about 50% higher than estimated. 4. Get a notice about my credit card not working - the salesman mis-entered my billing zip code. I remember telling him to double check that whne I made the initial purchase. 4. Returned the phones, closed the account, and even the restocking fee was higher than originally quoted. Closed the account but "we can't do final billing--that is done centrally." So, I have to wait a whole month for the next billing cycle. 5. Just got billed for the next month. Called customer service waited the usual 15 minutes, got someone who had to refer me to someone else, waited the usual 15 minutes, and the next person said it would clear in the next billing cycle. read more

I unfortunately have to agree with the previous reviewers. Horrible customer service. I wanted to gouge my eyes out when leaving that place. My husband and I came in to update my phone (we both had to come because we swapped updates). The sales guy was all about the hard sell. He wanted to switch us to their "Next" program that was launching in the next day or so. From what my husband read about it, it didn't seem like a butter deal than what we have been doing. So we kindly said no. We are not quite ready to make the switch. We just need to replace the old phone that no longer worked. He tries 2 more times to sell us Next and making us feel like idiots for not taking this new promotion. Then, he wanted me to switch plans. I didn't want to. He tried 2 more times. Then he wanted to sell me a cover. I said I had to read some reviews for childproof covers online before committing to an $80 cover. He didn't like that reasoning either and tried a few more times. Then there was insurance for the phone. We never do insurance. Not our thing. Still wouldn't take no for an answer. All of this while my kids were running around the store. Why the hell would he want to prolong the sale when we are obviously trying to make this quickly happen. I forget who this marvel salesman was, but he has nasty teeth. Wow, I am quite disappointed to see a pattern of our reviews at this store. My experience was a shock, to say the least. I worked with Steve, someone intelligent on the features of their inventory but ignorant as it pertains to interacting with customers and offering a positive experience. Beyond the smell of smoke was arrogance nearly as unbearable. It was during a conversation that I was lead to believe I would receive a free tablet should I purchase a phone and return. I return to find no such promotion, and Steve keeping me from his management. Fortunately my wife returned to find this out, and I am awaiting a conversation with Rick, in which I hope this detector can again become a promoter. I dislike phone stores of all kinds because it is generally unpleasant the wait and the hustle to get you to spend more by adding to your contract. Like some of the other reviews it is not unfamiliar to not be pleased. I wouldn't go unless I had a phone problem and that's where they get you. Our world makes having a phone necessary. I researched online. Now I know to be educated before you go. You can order an unlocked phone and just get it turned on in the store. You can shop for whatever you want color GB memory and the iPhone of your choice, even rehabbed to save money if you desire. It must be awesome to have a job where you can be completely incompetent and have no idea about your company's policies and procedures, and not help your customers. Man. I must be in the wrong industry. I went here approximately a month ago under the direction of AT&T customer care. I had filed an insurance claim and specifically stated that, if I was going to be receiving a refurbished phone, don't even bother sending and I'll put my $100 deductible towards a new phone. Low and behold, a refurbished phone arrived at my door. I called customer care and they were extremely helpful (or so I thought) and told me to go to the store and they would take back the refurbished phone, give me a new phone (they should be able to switch it out, per the customer care person, but if not I could purchase it at full price and be reimbursed via the insurance company), and I'd be on my way. This was not the case...AT ALL. The manager (we will use this term loosely--it's how he's identified but I can't imagine his superiors know who they have carrying that title), Rick I believe his name was, came over and interrupted my interaction with the sales person (I forget her name--Megan, maybe? Useless and rude). He was rude, abrasive, and lacking any sort of customer service abilities. I told him I was sent there by THEIR customer service and instead of reading the notes on my account or looking into it, he discounted what I was trying to tell him and said they couldn't do anything of the sort there. How about doing what a service-minded person would do and call your customer care and insurance departments to collaborate on the appropriate course of action? Oh, wait. That would've taken time to do something they were not getting a commission on. Now for the part that's just comical to me. He tried telling me a refurbished phone wasn't used and that it was fine (I don't care what kind of inspection and rebuilding its gone through, it's still not brand new)...he clearly needs a dictionary. Sorry, but if I wanted to pay for a refurbished phone, I'd go on Craig's List or something. His ignorance and overall inability to rectify the situation says a lot about the store in general. Not to mention, account/customer maintenance/problem resolution is a HUGE part of sales. (I guess he missed this day in class?) I don't appreciate being spoken to like I'm the uneducated one here. I also tried to tell him Asurion, AT&T's insurance carrier, said I could in fact pick up a new phone there paying out of pocket (the same one I currently have) and they would reimburse the cost. At this point, all I wanted was to buy a phone at full price, being that insurance was reimbursing me the full cost for a NEW (new: not refurbished, since the manager thinks these words are synonyms) phone. The manager also said this wasn't true, that this isn't something that's done. Funny that a customer knows their policies better than the "manager" of this corporate-owned location. I left angry, insulted, and without the problem being handled correctly. Once again, I called Asurion and AT&T who both stated there is no reason this should have happened and they had already overnighted me the check to be reimbursed for the phone I wanted to purchase. They even offered to call the "manager" to educate him on this policy and what needed to be done in the store he "manages." My review? Stay away. Or, take a dictionary and also print out their policies since their own managers don't even know them. Perhaps then you'll have a better experience. read more

HORRIBLE! They actually get a big fat 0 stars! Employee could have cared less about my issue. I am a loyal customer of over 10 years, my bill increased $12 a month with no warning or explanation. Went to my local ATT store for help and was told to call ATT, which I had already tried and was on hold for over 7 minutes. The employee went to "check" with his manager who told him to tell me to call ATT. When I got frustrated and left, the manager pretended to not see me and stood at his computer with his head down but eyes cut side ways watching me walk out. If I were ATT I'd fire both of them. I went to purchase a new phone at the S Dale Mabry location. Spoke to Rick who was very friendly and helpful. He sent me over to Megan who worked to get me all set up. I don't know if she was having a bad day but she seemed annoyed and spoke over me when I tried to talk. The store was out of the color phone that I wanted. Megan asked me if my phone was backed up. I wasn't sure since my husband takes care of that stuff. I told her to give me a second So I can text my husband to find out. I felt rushed, she assumed that it wasn't backed up and proceeded to ask me about my service. I told her my text isn't going through. She said it's because she switched the phone over already. Well why didn't she say so when she saw me trying to text him with my old phone. Over all I felt that she was unfriendly, I was rushed, and made me feel like an idiot. After 2 months of constant frustration with customer service they finally agreed to replace the defective product they had sold me.
