I have been with 20/20 Communications since way back when they were called Ann Arbor Wireless…read more I dropped my previous cell phone carrier, because they kept "upgrading" and "servicing" their network in ways that caused my phone not to work at all, which isn't much of an upgrade. But I kept 20/20 Communications around, because their service is great, and they can write contracts with more than one cell carrier. I have a long history of beating up and breaking phones and 20/20 has done a great job of repairing and replacing my phones. My current Nextel i530 is about three years old, on paper anyway. But Every part of it has been replaced, except the plastic cover on the back (Got a new flip, an antenna, a battery and then something they called a "swap" wich included replacement of all the guts inside the phone). I understand I could get one of those plastic covers for $12, and then I would have a new phone. My contract included one free replacement battery, so when I mentioned one day that it didn't seem to be charging, they handed me a battery. They have all my contract information on file, so every time I walk into the store, they can pull up everything about my phone, what service it has had, and what it is capable of doing. They do a great job. This is the same company that is trying to install wall-to-wall wireless internet throughout the county, and I'm not as happy with it. Not only is their geographic progress less-than-impressive, but I found the Wi-fi itself disappointing. If you want to log on and use free internet, you have to provide them with a credit card number. (No, thanks.) They're hoping to sell you a higher level of service later, which is supposed to subsidize the free wireless service. Not only do I not want to pay for their services, but I am not going to start punching in credit card numbers every time I find a new wireless router that some guy has perched on the top shelf in his dorm room. How safe can that be? There are way too many free hotspots in restaurants and at the library. Where I live, we have Wireless Ypsilanti, which is doing a much better job of spreading free internet. The businesses downtown are paying for wireless service and keeping it open to the public, without any kind of pre-registration. Wireless Ypsi is a non-profit venture and the guys who operate it will service the routers for free, so it's a lot more progressive than 20/20 Wireless.

I wanted to get the Motorola Droid so I called ahead to make sure that they had one in stock. The woman assured me that they did and I drove to the store with a friend who had one reserved. Turns out they "sold out" but she tried to get me to buy another phone. Not happy. She said they had more coming in on Thursday and they would call me. So Thursday comes and I call and she says that they sold out once again. I had received no call and she did not offer to special order one until I called on Thursday. Finally, tired of my current phone dying I "special ordered" one. This time I actually received a phone call and went to pick it up. Everything seemed to be fine with the phone until 6 days later (it was thanksgiving break so I didnt use my phone for a few days) when I found 51 pictures that I had not taken on my phone. There were also 2 videos that were not mine.

They lied to my wife and I, when we upgraded our phones, telling us that our old phones were bought back at full price, and that our old contracts were now terminated. We left with smiles, and our new phones. Fast forward 3 months, and we receive a bill for over $800. Naturally, we call the corporate office, and they tell us that the satellite store told them that they never had our phones in their possession. Corporate then relays that information to me. Imagine the mushroom cloud over my home. After disputing this with corporate, they dug a little deeper and called their satellite to re-inquire the store's claim. The store claims that they already sent our phones back. Even though corporate has NO record of receiving the old phones. Shell. Game. So in the eyes of corporate, we were still on the hook for $800+. After SIX HOURS on the phone with corporate, raising holy hell, and travelling back and forth between our home and the satellite store, Sprint corporate took care of us. To be honest, we've never had an issue dealing with corporate that wasn't resolved. But this particular location is as crooked, and dirty as they come. Stay away from this place. Jason is the "manager" at this location, and he is nothing more than a scam artist. He reassuringly smiles at you, while he knows full-well that he is screwing you over in the end. He is nothing more than a lying dog. You've been warned.

The employee told us that the only promotion we have available was to pay for device protection that was going to be about $40/month for 2 phones at least 6 months otherwise we cannot get the upgrade promotion. While I thought it was weird for them to push insurance on customers, I stated that we would think about it and come back. Luckily, I got home and called Verizon wireless customer service and was told that I get the same promotion without having to purchase insurance at least that was what was showing on my account. So, they tried to sell me something to get commission on yet telling me it was a stipulation in order for me to get that promotion. Anyways their loss I just wanted to warn the people going to this store for anything.
