Been an ATT prepaid customer for 16 years. Came into the store on 12/16/24 to inquire about the Christmas sale for the IPhone 16. Store manager Lakela helped me with getting me an estimate of what my bill would be if I switched from prepaid to post-pay for the promo. She asked for ID to pull up my account confirmed my identification and provided me with the number of what my bill would be if I decided to switch over. It was a lot higher than my current bill so I declined and decided to hold off. Three weeks later I get a text welcoming me to "ATT New Post Pay Account" I go to the corporate ATT downtown Chicago to confirm it was just a mistake because I had not made any changes to my account recently. Store Manager downtown pulls up my account and confirms that I was switched over to Post pay and there is no way to be switched back without waiting out a 60-90 day period. They confirmed in the account that there was no customer signature, no debit care swiped, and no upgraded phones provided with the change. We then came to the conclusion that the store manager at the Lake Park Store, Lakela, went into my account and change my account type without my knowledge and authorization. Upon returning to the Lake Park Store to ask for help from Lakela, she informed me to call corporate and that she will not be helping me with the account. After waiting for assistance and being told to leave her store, she called the police after refusing to help me. The police arrived and confirmed the account was switched over without customer's knowledge. I plan to follow through with ID theft and fraud with Chicago Police. read more

I bought a prepaid AT&T SIM card from their website but it wouldn't activate, so I went into the store to have them activate it. They said they couldn't activate it and I'd have to call customer service. I called customer service, and the bot would only hang up on me because my account wasn't activated. I went back to the store and they still couldn't activate my SIM card and refused to give me a refund. read more

OMG I Love Love Jenna, Joe , Lamar & Caleb ! This team is great! They helped me with my dumb iPhone 11 when it wouldn't send out or receive texts. I stayed here for 2 hours for it to update and BAM!! Don't go to this store unless it's like a last resort. I initially went to this store to purchase a new phone. The process was fairly easy, there was a long wait but that is expected. At the time AT&T had an in-store promotion for a free iPad. I went in a few days later to request the iPad however I waited over an hour for the sales associates to tell they were unable to do it and I should return the next day. I went in the following day still after an hour wait the associates were unable to help me and stated they would call when they have the device ready for me to pick up. I never received a call and ultimately went to another store. I did notice that their associated added an iPhone 6 to my account without my consent and did not notify me or resolve the issue. Then an iPad showed up on the account and had a bill with an extra $59. I was livid to say the least cos I was probably about to pay for an iPad that someone else was using. I called customer service for better help but, I would not go to this store in the future. read more

Jeez I can't stand this place! I have been waiting 20 minutes for 2 clerks who have now locked the door at 5:45. They are not letting anyone else in. Apparently they were given permission to close early but no sign is on the door, they are just ignoring anyone standing outside waiting. Luckily the clerk I had was polite, sympathetic and knowledgeable. If they are going to be charging $300-800 for products and services they need to be more professional when they close early. They should get a kiosk so one can pay without needing a clerk. (My phone is registered on someone else's account). read more

The immortal words of Lily Tomlin's telephone operator, Ernestine, "We're the phone company and we don't care." Customer service... horrendous. Staff does not know their own products and services (or they simply lie). If only we could bill THEM for the time it has taken to straighten out what should be a common task for them: Family plan add another phone from a previous existing client who just upgraded to a new iPhone 4. What's the problem? This took days and days of repeated call backs verifications. The final laugh. We get texts and emails stating that our window to transfer service has expired (and the service is already transferred and printed in the billing) Also they sell their customer contact information to mailing lists... How do I know this? My line is STILL registered to someone else's name and now I am getting mail for that name. read more

Everywhere online the store's weekday hours are listed as open until 8:00 p.m. Tonight, I showed up at 7:30, and there was a man sitting in a chair next to the counter, but the doors were locked. I knocked, and he pointed to the door, which showed that the store closes at 7:00 p.m. This is ridiculous. Everywhere online - especially on the official AT&T website - it says the store is supposed to be open until 8:00 p.m., and they just choose to close early. I have called AT&T directly to complain about this branch, and I suggest others do this as well if you make a plan, show up, and find yourself behind a locked door. read more

I would give this location negative stars if I could. I walked into this store a few moments ago to see 4 employees. Two of which were helping customers and two others who were texting on their phone. The gentleman who was busy with a customer greeted me & said "someone will be with you in a moment" so I walked around viewing the phones on display. The same two employees who weren't with customers continued to talk, text on their phone & ignore me. After about 5 minutes I went up to the service desk & it wasn't until then that one of the two asked if I needed help. As I asked questions about a phone I wanted he answered with an attitude. I felt I was pulling teeth to get answers. What a nasty attitude, lazy work ethic! so I walked right out. This is by far the worst customer service I've ever experienced at an AT&T store. My samsung galaxy 6 edge plus went out it was a refurbished phone call customer service they told me no couldnt get a new phone need to put in claim because the screen was cracked went into the store on lake park and wow girl help me got me a phone with a promotion on it and I even received free accessories for the phone . the Manager Kalia helped me tremendously . Earlier today, my only phone, a newer iphone mini, locked up without capability to power down or access settings. The closest Apple and Verizon stores (my carrier) are miles away. I happened to be in the vicinity of my local AT&T store, so I headed inside seeking help. After the first AT&T representative I encountered brushed me off and directed me to the nearest (far away Downtown) Apple store, AT&T Representative Wendy stayed with me and furiously searched the internet for guidance. Within a short amount of time, Wendy shared steps I should take and voila, my phone unfroze and became operable again! Thank you, Wendy, for helping me restore my phone, as it a lifeline to my elderly relatives and friends with whom I need to stay in close contact! You took my concerns to heart and I am most appreciative for your helping to get my phone (and me) back up and running. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I have never new to an att store where the reps acted like helping the customer was a pain.. Person helpin us was actually on hold for her personal business and when her phone was answered she just walked off in the middle of my iPhone 6s purchase to finish her phone call. It you are new to Chicago or just thinking of switching your cell service!!! For the love of all that is Holy!!! DO NOT GET AT&T cell service. It is the worst service in the city. I am an outside sale rep, I rely on my phone to do my job and I don't get signal in my home, in my office or most other places in Chicago. I just tried to call the same client 5 time. Stay Away. I went into the AT&T store in Hyde park September 16 at 6:00 pm and was waited on by A salesperson. I was there to trade in my iPhone. The phone wasn't charged, but I was so excited to take advantage of the promotion. The phone died before The salesperson could finish the transaction and I asked to cancel the process because it was very busy in the store. My Salesperson said she can't cancel my transaction because she started the process and said I can charge the phone and return it. She also asked me to take a survey and give a score of 10 10 and A and afterwards she will give me a free gift for completing the survey. The next day on September 17, 2016 at 10:00 am I walked into the store and returned the phone at the counter to a salesperson because my salesperson was not there. I didn't know to leave the phone with her directly. After I got the email for the survey giving her a good review for her service, I returned to AT&T to show her the results of the survey, she then gave me a free case for my new IPhone 7 and she never mentioned that she didn't receive the phone. I called AT&T every month and was told it takes two to three months for my bill credit. After the trade-in I waited for the credits to appear on my bill. I was told that they don't see the phone that I traded in and to go back to the AT&T Authorized Retailer store and ask for a manager. I went back to the AT&T Retailer as advised and My salesperson said to the manager and myself, you didn't put the phone in my hand so She did nothing wrong. I've been with AT&T for 10 years time for a change. The Hyde park store will steal your device and lie. read more

One star is one too many! The staff at the Hyde Park location are RUDE. My sister was visiting from overseas this August and had an issue with the phone she purchased for use in the US. We went to the AT&T at 5222 S. Lake Park for assistance. Staff told her she would have to call AT&T customer support for assistance. We sat down on a bench in the middle of the store so she could make the call. Once the other customer in the store left the staff then started talking and laughing and cursing very loudly. It was obvious we were still there, we were visible from the desk the staff were standing around. And it wasn't just one accidental loud laugh or one outburst-the volume of the conversation actually escalated. My sister had to stick one finger in her ear while on the phone with technical support and even then had a very hard time hearing. We were there for at least 10 minutes and not once did any of the staff apologize or acknowledge that my sister was on the phone trying to get help for her phone! We didn't bother to ask to speak to a manager because it was pretty obvious there was either no manager there or, if there was, the manager had no control of the store or was one of the disrespectful staff. I've worked fast food and retail as has my sister so we can forgive a lot and write off a lot to just having a bad day but this was multiple people and for a prolonged period of time. read more

I have just moved to a new place. I contacted Comcast first to start a new service in my new apartment. I needed the internet to be connected asap. They were not able to do it fast so I contacted At&t. I liked what their offer so I told them that if they can connect me faster than Comcast, they have my business. I was beyond happy when I heard they could come the fallowing day. So I ordered the service, schedule the appointment for the next day and took half a day off from work to be home when they come. And then few hours later I got a phone call that they have to reschedule my appointment!!!!!!! I was mad. I spent over an hour on the phone trying to find out why the day has been changed. Well nobody was really able to answer my question. I'm really disappointed with the customer service. It seems to me that to get a new business they lied that they would come the following day. read more

One of the absolute worst stores I've ever dealt with and still haven't fixed my issue. I did a trade in with them, I had ordered the new iPhone 11 Pro Max online and did the upgrade at their store and one of their employees was there, recurved my old phone and I was on my way, I thought ok cool. Months later I get a a 550 charge on my bill and I check and I'm being charged for the old iPhone I traded in with them! I go to the store and they tell me it's my job to ship the old phone back, so I tell them why the fuck did they receive the phone? So where's the phone then? Some big chick their giving nothing but attitude and absolutely no help. Not my fault you hate your job. I will not stop till this stupid store fixes that issue. Do yourselves a favor and steer far from this store. Or take pictures or video of everything!!! They say their cameras don't work either. Absolute garbage location. read more

I bought an Iphone 5 charger from this location, and after 2 months it won't charge my phone properly. I decided to call the store so I wouldn't be making a blank trip, the guy on the phone told me to bring the cord and they would check the cord out and give me another one if there's a defect . Upon arriving to the store I spoke to a young man by the name of Jon, who asked me how could he help me; I told him the problem i was having with the cord and right away he answered, there's nothing we can we only give a 14 day warranty, so I informed him i called before I came and he said he would let me speak to a manager, I then spoke with another man who told them to check the cord which kept giving a message saying. THIS ACCESSORY MAY NOT BE SUPPORTED. So when this happened they started giving me the run around. The last person I spoke with was a rep named David which was very, very rude and unprofessional who told me to take it to Apple it's there problem not AT&T's. I will never ever in my life due business with them again, i'm also having my family member who has service with them to switch providers. read more

Steer clear of the AT&T Hyde Park location! If I could give zero stars, I would. I went in to activate an Iphone that I'm still paying for. After finally getting past the attitudes we were finally able to figure out what I was in there for, I was being helped by a "seemingly" knowledgeable young lady, who between helping me was discussing going out to eat with her co-workers. We even talked about many of the Hyde Park restaurants. After trying to figure out a plan, I was told I could get an extra gigabyte of data for the same price. Even though I opted to take the plan, I didn't need to increase my plan due to her telling me there would be no difference in price. She then tells me that she would start the plan with my new billing cycle (which luckily, was in a few more days) so that I wouldn't have any pro-rated charges. Great! Fast forward a few days when I receive my bill and I'm sure you can guess what comes next. NOTHING she told me was true. My bill was over twice what it normally is due to false information and failure to disclose charges.....My bill was full of nothing but pro-rated charges. I was charged for an insurance plan that I never requested, authorized or was even discussed with me. (there shouldn't have been an assumption that I wanted one, as I have NEVER had and NEVER will pay for a phone insurance plan through AT&T. The additional data I was told was no difference in price was more. I was charged for an activation fee that was never disclosed or discussed with me. I immediately call to complain and the manager, Mr. David D'LaCosta was very nice and pretended as though my issue was of some importance. He assured me he would look into it and call me back. Let's just say that I am glad that I wasn't holding my breath while waiting because I would not be alive to write this review. read more

I stopped at the location in Glenwood to pay my wifes bill. The service there was ok bu twhen i had to talk with customer service over the phone, they were very rude uncompassionate to my needs. I left another provider with the hopes of all this great features and service that they were suppose to provide me. All this was a huge lie and i would never recommend anyone to deal with AT&T. They keep charging me for disconnection fees for a bill I don't have to pay until the 15th of every month but they say i suppose to pay on the ninth. I spoke with three different customer service reps as well as the rep who initially signed my contract at the beginning. I was given the choice of having to pay in the begining or the end of the month and I chose the end. Somehow nobody can fix that issue or understand my frustration about not getting this reconciled at all. All the keep on trying to do is to get me to sign up for cable television or home security. Why would I do that and you guys can't even get a phone bill correct. This is the most uncaring, dishonest company I've ever delt with. read more
