If you take your time looking at the selections or have any questions they will run out of patience and give you attitude. I was very excited to check this store out and was treated poorly. They won't bother to clean their cheap games and they cost $10 each. Broken cases are super common. Most retro games have faded cover art (all poor condition art work) for normal price just doesn't make sense to me. I seen a lot of retro consoles just laying around not available for purchase. I was a loyal customer for a good 13 years ever since I was in middle school never had a problem ever since I knew  Mr.Kim, his wife, and his son but somehow I struck a nerve on Mr.Kim when I confronted him when he sold me two brand new boxes of Pokemon GBA games wrapped up in plastic for me it was too good to believe ended up buying them came back multiple times to the store to get a replacement for those games since the save files were deleting itself and he did trade-in for just other counterfeit games ended just bitting the bullet and giving up because I was a kid and didn't know better. Kept giving him business for a few more years until I tried to sell those copies of GBA Pokemon just found out that they were fake and indeed they were after some research. Confronted Mr.Kim and completely went berserk on me couldn't have an Ouse of skepticism since not all his games aren't counterfeits but that doesn't mean you get to go full hog on loyal customers. He either A knew about it and sold me a counterfeited game as authentic for a brand new price sticker price which in that scenario he has no honor or integrity and won't care if Nintendo tomorrow decides not to sell him peanuts with Mario face on it for his compulsive behavior. Or B he had no idea he sold me counterfeited GBA games he could talk like an adult with the respect I deserved as long loyal customer heck he could have talked his way out with an apology and I would have bitten the bullet and walked away and kept giving him business. Either one I can 100% be sure Mr.Kim did sell me counterfeited Games banking In kid's ignorance and nostalgia. In Conclusion, don't expect cheap prices for either retro games or even brand-new games they are competitive prices as in the resell online market. They don't have an inventory list so have fun scanning for what you are looking for. They won't let you see a game unless you're going to buy it. Its strange because when you buy these older Nintendo games, you have to do your due diligence and make sure things are authentic, plenty of fakes out there. Every other games store in the city would let you examine the games whether you buy or not. I asked an employee how does he know the game is real. He dodged my question with a generic answer "we check everything before we sell it". I come back a week later, someone different was working. Older Asian man who I am assuming is the owner is present, Kim. He sells me Super Mario Bros 3 for the GBA. Doesn't let me examine it, just brings it straight to the register. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and just bought it. Its a neighborhood spot, I'll trust them. The game turned out to be fake. The sticker on the cart didn't have Nintendo's number stamp that they'd put on every Gameboy sticker. The sticker was low resolution. I opened the game and the board was cheap as hell. The board had a black blob (looks like gum) on it which is a huge tell that it's a counterfeit. Fakes always come with the black blob, idk why but they always do. The biggest giveaway was that the Nintendo logo on the board was spelled incorrectly. It said "Nlhtehdo". No company, especially as large as Nintendo, would spell their name incorrectly on their products. See the pictures. No wonder the first employee dodged my question, they don't know how to spot a fake themselves. If they got a problem showing the customer the products, now you know there is a reason why. I came back to return the product, Kim was reasonable at first. Told me to pick something else out. I picked out Yoshi's Island, he let me look at it this time but turns out, that one was a fake too. All his Gameboy games inventory on the shelf, it's all counterfeit. I asked for a refund and told him he shouldn't be selling fake product and passing it off as real. He starts throwing a fit. Told me not to come back. Kim told me he buys product off customers but doesn't check them because he doesn't have the time. I walk by the store regularly, its always empty. He has the time to look at a cart, wont admit though. Kim and his employee guarantee authenticity but that all changes once you buy something. Then it becomes "used games are most likely fake" as he told me. He ran his business for 30 years but in all that time he never learned to tell a fake cartridge from a real one. But he will gladly put a fake cart on his display to screw over a customer? Makes no sense. In the end, Kim exchange a counterfeit for another counterfeit, since that's all he has on-hand. Good news though, if you got a load of fake Nintendo games, Kim will buy it off of you and resell it for the price of the real one. Don't waste your time here. Go to J&L in midtown or VideoGamesNY in the East Village. I tried to support a neighborhood business but I ended getting burned for it. read more

Good selection of games and consoles it's very rare to find a video game store like this one

Kind of underwhelming. This place is pretty far up, so If you are somewhere further down in Manhattan or Brooklyn, I wouldn't advocate coming here. The selection of video games is really not that big, and in particular, they don't have terribly many DS games, which is what I was looking for when I came here. The store is a little strange- it's not just video games sold here. Actually, I'd primarily classify this store as a clothing/apparel store, and that because they had some free space in the back, they decided to sell blideo bames here as well. I noticed mostly xbox titles here, but they have a range of everything, though not a huge quantity. I've found that video games stores in NYC in general don't really offer you any savings when in comparison to places like amazon or ebay. There's always this idea that maybe you can find hidden gems, but I think stuff like that only happens in small towns in the midwest, or at garage sales. Most of the people who run video games stores like this know the value of their product, so it'll be at least as expensive as the ones being sold online. In addition to this though, there will be usually some sort of 'product satisfaction' guarantee premium priced into the products at stores, which apparently a lot of store owners think justify the higher prices. The problem with this however is that many websites like ebay and amazon also have this guarantee too, but with lower prices. Anyway my store experience was meh, and I probably won't come by again. They didn't have the video game I wanted, so I wasn't even really able to compare prices. In addition, the store clerk kept following me around as if I was going to steal something, and kept trying to ask me questions, even when I mentioned repeatedly that I was just browsing. read more

Wowwww, it's so much bigger than previous location and still carries huge variety of games and systems at a very competitive price. Mr Kim is really friendly and professional... I've been wanting to provide a review for these guys for quite some time, but they aren't on Yelp! So, I finally just went ahead and added them on here. Firstly, this is probably the best video game spot in the area. There is another video game store around the block called "Viva & Phone" but they are a bit slower, smaller, cramped/uncomfortable, lots of kids hanging out, then again, they also get a lot more foot traffic on that street. But, even so, their customer service is not as good and they tend to not have what I'm looking for. On the other hand, Astro Game is always fast, and they always have what I'm looking for! They are well stocked. I feel that the employees/owner/manager are very skilled not only with their own stock but also with gaming itself. Okay, let me talk about the store itself, the game section is actually all the way in the back left of the store. They have shoes at the front, clothing, and games on the side. I haven't really looked around much. Generally, I go right for the games. But, truly this is a nice spacious store, it's never over crowded, the employees are friendly, helpful. They are liars, stay away. They are selling the $249.99 PS4 bundle for $299.99. Saying this is the price on special when it is posted everywhere for $249.99 from Walmart to GameStop. When I showed them the price online they told me it wasn't available yet, I showed them it was valid 12/14/19-12/29/19, then they said they had to preorder to have it available in store for $299.99 (rebate price). Other retailers preordered too and have it at the $249.99 true rebate price. Lying to customers is a bad way to start your business. They've only been there for two weeks (according what the guy told me) and are already trying to get to your wallet through obvious lies. Better off going to the GameStop down the street or anywhere else where they won't try to steal your money through lies. read more

I like that there is a massive selection of video games, ranging from super nintendo all the way to the most current game systems. There are also tons of actual game systems that you can buy along with accessories. There are a few weird things about the store. One is that it is in the back of a weird clothing store. I guess that saves money for everyone to share the space, but I just think it is weird and makes the neighborhood look ghetto, but then again it is Washington Heights so can't expect much about having nice things. Anyways the staff was really friendly and helpful getting me what I need, but things are just priced way too high, especially for Washington Heights (like I live here bc rent is cheap and things should price match, but whatever). I'll definitely be back if I need things immediately, but otherwise I'll prob stick to ebay because the N64 games are like 14-20$ that cost like 6$ on ebay. read more

PS4, XBOX One, Wii U, etc. I think this store has been here more than 27 years. I have been a royal customer here since Atari 2600. I bought my first Nintendo, Gameboy Advance, Super Nintendo, N64, GameCube, Playstation 1, PS2, PS3 and recentely boutght PS4 and Xbox ONE system.
