Amazing selection of retro games and consoles. Prices are quite reasonable. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful.

Its a small shop but stockpiled around the place up to the ceiling with gaming systems and previously owned cartridges of an endless list of popular games. There are likely even some unpopular ones that are now cult favorites for some reason. I noticed PS2 and PS3 items, along with Nintendo, XBox and many more. Not only can you find the games but they also have a stockpile of the actual systems and controllers on display so if you broke something you might want to get over there. Price wise I'd have to say that they can be all over the place because they are not your conventional shop with a new stock coming in from a distributor every day. They seem focused on the used games and systems so the inventory varies and fluctuates. There are games that are more rare than some others and some items might be in a little less than perfect condition based on use and that is bound to be the case with places like this. Truth be told, I find its better to deal with a slightly higher figure for something you've been looking for forever rather than risking someone else snagging it up while you opine the decision. While they primarily focus on video games for most gaming systems, they do have a stockpile of Funko Pops, some action figures, and a couple of boxes of old comic books all available for assorted prices. Again its based on the stock and the rarity if anything. I did see a stock of hats and billfolds and those are completely new along with a few cork boards of shiny pins which are also new. If you have a gamer geek in your family they should be brought here because I think they'd find something they need or wanted to have for awhile. I've seen them take trades for store credit but outside of that I am not sure how they deal with the walk ins with piles of games, comics or toys. Recommended.

The star of the…read moreshow would be the vintage NES, SNES, N64, and PSX games, all with very fair prices comparable to what you'd find being sold by independent sellers online, but with the trust of coming from a store, with everything thoroughly cleaned and functioning its best (I've never had to blow on a cartridge I bought from here, and every game has worked on the first try turning on the system). This place's game selection for these systems includes the best of the best, along with the rarer and more esoteric titles, and the inventory moves pretty quickly so there's always something new every few weeks. The guy running the place, Adrian, is extremely kind and courteous - he is always willing to answer questions and provide info, but he's never pushing to sell anything and it feels like a no-pressure, comfortable environment for taking your time to browse. I'd totally recommend Brooklyn Video Games to anyone who appreciates physical stores for retro games and accessories - two thumbs up!

What really stood out to me was how interactive everything felt. It's not just a store where you just buy something & go it's more like an experience. You can browse, discover new series, & even catch card game action happening. I'll be honest I spent way more time in there than I planned. It was super cool to me.i never seen anything like this store.Every time I thought I saw everything, there was another section tucked away w/ more items. The gashapon machines alone could keep you busy forever. And if you're into anime merch or collectibles, it's dangerously easy to start picking things up left & right. Def be prepared to spend some cash here! The vibe overall was super lively w/ lots of people, lots of energy, & everyone clearly excited to be there(especially me I felt like a kid in a candy store). It def felt like a hotspot, especially for fans trying to get their hands on new or limited items. If you're into anime, collectibles, or anything Bandai-related, this spot is 100% worth the visit. It's not just shopping it's an experience. I already know I'm going back because there's no way I saw everything the 1st time.

Over the last few months, I have spent a lot of time at Boulevard and as Tatiana the owner gets to know you, you become not only a loyal customer but a friend. Her events are awesome and something that Dyker needs. Working in Manhattan sometimes I'm just too tired to stay around in the city for a book signing or cooking class - Boulevard offers regular events such as this and it's only a couple of blocks away from our apartment. Poetry readings, psychic readings, meet and greets - I was so surprised to see such great monthly events when I first stopped in and each event is interesting and fun. The ones that have a cost attached to them are minimal fees and even though I don't have kids, I noticed Boulevard has a ton of kids book events and arts and crafts. They know you by name, track all of your purchases and have a loyalty program where you get a $5 coupon occasionally with your purchases. I joined the book club and the other customers in the store get to know each other and look forward to seeing each other at different events. I've also found some totally random kitschy books here for gifts that people have loved. As for the book selection, even if it's not as big as a chain bookstore, Boulevard has a great variety of books. Best sellers, secret finds, popular series - they have them and in almost every genre including a big kids and teen section. Boulevard feels homey and warm when you come in and like I said, Dyker really needed a place like this. I'd rather give Tatiana and her awesome staff my money than Barnes and Noble or Amazon. Considering how much I spend there, I may be asking them for a second job soon!
