I just came in for a few games after trading in a couple of old games and the transaction was pretty smooth. I might come back around here since there are a few other games here that caught my eye.

Selection (4/5): Tons of classic games especially in the Nintendo department. It brought a ton of…read morenostalgia especially for the Gameboy advance and SP which I had as a kid. Their selection is super impressive for all these classic games as it seemed like they had hundreds of games for classic systems. Service (3/5): No one really greeted us or were particularly friendly when we walked in. They gave us no issues though. The store's ambiance could be improved though because it seemed like boxes were just strewn in the back and the decorations weren't particularly enticing. Value (3/5): The retro games here are quite expensive! Some of the Gameboy advanced games are $60 and the machines were especially expensive. For example, the SP was almost $200. I guess it kind of makes sense since they aren't manufactured any more and it's in a premium location.

New York Comics has just opened their doors in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and it's just what this section…read moreof the neighborhood needed. Truth be told there are not many comics and collectible shops in Bay Ridge so a brand-new one is a welcome addition. They're located off of the main avenue thoroughfare on 79th and while the store itself is small, they are very well-stocked. As you walk in you see plenty of different lines of action figures and both recent and older back issue boxes of comic books from numerous companies. They also have some racks of cars, and higher priced books and slabbed editions are up on higher shelves. As it was opening day, there was candy everywhere to give you a sugar rush. They also had a wheel that you could spin with every purchase and there were some truly amazing prizes to be had. On the wheel I saw discounts on next purchase, back issues from assorted boxes and more. My purchase was a "Marvel Legends" action figure that I had been looking for and when I got to spin the wheel I won a slabbed "Batman" Annual #2. Oh yeah and for those who don't know the term, a "slabbed" edition means that the comic is in a sealed and graded plastic container and no longer readable. Having never owned one before I thought this was rather cool. My visit was shortly after lunch so it was rather crowded based on their doing opening day stuff and I was happy to see this being the case since I've known one of the owners for a couple of years. They are not even two minutes away from Skinflints which is another favorite of mine and if you're heading there you can pop into New York Comics afterwards. It's important to know that there are no new comics being sold at the store at this time but who knows if they change that practice at some point going forward. They wouldn't need to stock everything but with the recent relaunch of "Batman" selling a half million copies that's not a bad idea. I know I'll be popping in from time to time to see what's new and exciting and I hope that they will begin stocking some of the collected editions as well since I like those every once in awhile. I came here with my daughter and we ended up buying Barbie stickers so I was really happy that they were in stock. Service was really friendly! It was rainy when I came in and they helped me with my stroller. I would definitely recommend peruse through their comic books selection. They even had a manga section with really funny tidbits about what the manga was about.

With this persona reply, I can see why. I guess its more a club house than a store. The door is usually locked anyway. They're not open when they say they are. And from the looks from the window, the store is super tiny and has nothing . go somewhere else. Theres a much better comic store both on the LES and in the Bronx on Fordham road that's worth the trip.

It also came with a nice little message on the package "enjoy the book don't buy from us again", and people wonder why comic book shops are going out of business these days. Bookoff is such a gem! They have such a wide variety of books, manga, cds, vinyl, anime figurines,…read morevideo games, and more! It has multiple floors and deals tucked in every corner. There's so much to see, so the space can be a little overwhelming, but it's definitely something every bookworm or nerd should check out in the city.

Buying and Selling at Book Off What a cool store. So much to…read moresee. Unfortunately, it is lousy to sell at and expensive to buy at. First, Selling. I brought in three statue items unopened in the original packaging. I checked on ebay for what the items sold for (not asking price but sold price) and it added up to about $600, I lugged the items over there and had to leave them there because they wouldn't get to them right away. The people/kids working there were very nice. I went to have lunch and got the text to return, and they are offering $150. So I picked up the items and turned down the offer. Again, they were very nice, it's just I wasn't willing to accept 25% of the value. I figured at worst it would be 50%. But I am better off getting closer to the actual price on ebay. Now, Buying. Lots of very expensive and exiting things to get, and I didn't have time to price check things so much, but my son is into the Nintendo switch and i spotted a used Marvel VS Capcom game he might like. It was $34.95. But just in case, I pulled up Amazon and looked the game up. A brand new one costs $21.79. So it would have been a terrible idea for me to buy it there. I guess if you are leaving work and need a quick gift, you might stop in and pay too much for an item. If you are in real trouble and don't have time to wait for an Ebay sale, you might consider selling your collectables for 25% the value, this place might come in handy.
