Since the last review, I called astound and was put on hold. I called on my landline. After 30 minutes, I called again on my cell phone and stayed on my landline. While on my cell phone, I was put on hold again. The cell phone person said that my landline person would not call me back. They had some kind of problem with the phone. I asked if that first person would call me back? I was told they're supposed to. They didn't. While on hold again, I got in my car and drove to the DMV to take care of my license plates. I got to the DMV, waited in line for my turn, took care of my business, and drove back home. While I was in my driveway, Astound finally came to the phone. RCN is borderline a corrupt business. Unfortunately, I have very limited options when it comes to internet providers. They scam clients with hidden fees, increase your monthly bill drastically without notice. Their customer service is non existent unless you wait on hold for an hour or longer. If your lucky enough to reach someone these morons just pass the blame, tell you what you want to hear but nothing changes. I noticed that I was charged $25 extra on my next bill. Upon further investigation, I was charged an "autopay denial fee"... I've had astound TV internet home phone for approximately 1 year now went on seasonal service In the fall and came back on to regular service in May of this year. When I got my first bill, I noticed that the charge increased by $10 per month. After numerous calls, I was told that the price when you go off. Seasonal is whatever the promotional rate is. At the time services turned back on, this seems highly irregular as I was on a 2 year price lock. Not very good customer services. My service connection when using Netflix,Hulu. etc is always coming in and out. When I reached out to advise, they had me do a speed test and recommended a tech come out. I asked 3 times is this free and they said yes. They sent a technician who could barely communicate with me because he knew little to no English. He said my speed test was inaccurate, there is no issue and left. Of course I recieved a $75 charge. If I was going to grade Astound Broadband by itself it deserves a big fat zero . It is by far the worst company that I have ever had in my life . However the service people that work there are excellent , unfortunately the company is terrible . They have outdated poor equipment and they keep telling you that you're getting the best speed out there and guess what your equipment will never let you get that speed . Unfortunately for them they're losing customers left and right at this particular point after their last raising of prices at $30 and poor service , poor support internet speed and constant interruptions which they say are caused by sunspots . No other company seems to be affected by sunspots except them. Also which different about them if you've got outages you still pay and they are the only company that I ever had where you paid when your internet and television did not work . If you need a service person bad for you because it's going to take at least three days at least for you to get somebody in your house to fix the problem because they don't have enough people working for them probably because they suck . Ever since it was taken over by some sort of hedge fund the service is gone down and the prices have gone way way up . The good thing for people in the area is Comcast Xfinity is already going into Bethlehem and is currently in the works with Forks Township Easton Suburban and the town of Easton . Astound has high prices for their internet. The internet quality was very good but not worth the high price. I have found better pricing with another company and when I called to cancel my service they are forcing me to pay for another month because they no longer prorate their cancelations. Since I paid my last bill 2 days ago I must pay for another full month of service even though I don't want it anymore. This should be illegal to force people to stay with them longer than they want and pay for extended services that they don't want anymore. read more

We switched and are with AT&T now and we haven't lost service once since the switch. If I could give a negative 5 star review I would feel it wasn't low enough. I had Wow! internet and I NEVER had any issues besides outages beyond human control. I personally referred DOZENS of new customers to Wow!. Then they sold to RCN/Astound, a company I had investigated before and CHOSE not to do business with because they had such terrible reviews. Now I have my account with RCN and so far, I am not disappointed....in the original reviews I read. They were 100% accurate, this is a GARBAGE company. My internet went from rock solid to reliably slow. I speed-test at regular intervals, and every night it goes from 66.9m uploads to 0.08m. Every...single....night. I contacted them to ask why I should bother staying with a company I didn't chose to do business with that provides such a unreliable product that costs me tons in lost revenue, and nobody home. For the same price I can get double my download speed and 2000x my upload by switching to fiber. RCN couldn't care less to lose me as a customer, so why would they care about you when you aren't one? I recommend you stay "not one". If you can't get fiber, go with... (vomiting a little in my mouth here Xfinity shiver Ugh I feel unclean having to recommend that, but as horrible as they are, still better than Astound. read more

Not only was the internet service terrible that I had it disconnected after 3 days but they claim I didn't return all the equipment. Multiple calls to customer service with no resolve. Quite possibly the worst of the worst of all companies I have dealt with this far. I cancelled Directv because of smoke and mirror pricing and poor customer service. Left Xfinity due to lack of fiber speeds and intermittent service, so I thought I'd try Astound, they recently moved into my area. Signed up for a little bit more speed than I needed. 1st - My brother did NOT get his referral money due to the way I supposedly signed up when he suggested them to me. 2nd - Then I tried to reduce my package that I originally signed up for from 1.5G to 1G and was told internet pricing won't apply and there is nothing they can do since I am no longer a new customer. If I was a new customer they can work with me. TODAY is Monday & 31 days since I signed up and 30 days is the new customer limit. I'd have to pay over $80 per month vs. the $40 advertised on line. Be aware!! This whole industry needs reform and a lesson how to treat customers. If you want to be con'ed, you're at the right place!! I have to stay for a while since they gouged me on the hook fees, but I am out of here as soon as possible. I would rather pay more to a company that is fair and legit vs trained in bait and switch tactics. Horrible! read more

Local cable company (WOW) was bought out by Astound. Switched over yesterday and so far they SUCK!. I called for technical service and it transfers you to a disconnected line. GREAT Customer service. Held Captive The absolute worst company! I called to transfer my service from one residence to another. The salesman told me he could provide me with faster service while reducing my bill. I returned my current equipment and received new. Now I get my bill and it is not doubled - but 3x more than I was paying before! When I called customer service, I was told "Oops, sorry, he lied to you. We cant honor that." - great customer service RCN! Now, I am told, I have to be available for a technician to come to home again and swap out equipment in order to get a lower rate and NOT WHAT I purchased. If there are other internet providers in your area, please consider those and not RCN. I have been going back & forth with them for weeks over an equipment charge of $75 that they claim is from 2021. A modem that was replaced 3 years ago and not returned by THEIR EMPLOYEE is somehow my fault. They will not remove the fee no matter what unless we show "proof" of the equipment being returned, even though no modem was ever left here. I asked them how am I proving something that wasn't left behind? How am I showing a ticket for an item that we never had ... no modem was ever left here, and we were never told to return it to a store. I don't even know where a local store is. Why would we want to keep a modem, and not return it if we're being charged for it? I have received multiple stories, no one seems to know what's going on. One supervisor gave me a serial # for the missing modem & it's the same modem in my home. I then speak with someone else they tell me no that's the incorrect serial #. One person tells me the modem is from 2021, then another person I spoke with today said it's from 2018 ... it's 2024, do you know hear how ridiculous that sounds?! For weeks I was told it would be resolved, then they were looking into it .. no one got back to me. I call again for the 6th time for them to say they will side with their company & they do anything. You guys already charge a huge amount for just internet then to charge your customer a $75 fee from years ago is disgusting. You guys don't give a crap about your customers, and it's really horrible how you treated me. read more

It's going on a year that my service which is supposed to be 1GB has run well below that amount. They have had technicians here and have marginally fixed it at times, but never anywhere near the 1GB that I pay for. I was told not to get the lower tier because my service speed would probably drop below what I was getting. Now once again my service is dropping out. Another tech is coming because they are seeing huge spikes in my signal and am getting about 7 to 25mbs on a 1GB service! Astound not once has offered to compensate me for the issues! My 78 year old mother and I called today to see about getting basic cable for her. The employee asked for her ss# for verification and asked for a credit card just to see if my mother has at least a dollar for the installation fee. I asked if they are going to price it by her credit score and was told no. They record all conversation for security and training purposes. The lying astound female employee pit is in hold and the said that it would cost my mother just over 300 a month. So apparently they do go by a senior citizens credit score to determine the payment. Something should be done about only having one internet provider in the area. Unfortunately I am stuck with Astound. Having internet standalone and the bill is almost $100 for the lowest speed they offer is ridiculous. I've had as many free technicians here as they will allow and each time they came in with new equipment just for the internet connection throughout my flat 2bd apartment to still lack decent internet connection. Their charges on the bill makes absolutely no sense and when you call they themselves are unable to explain it. Pitiful! It takes about a half hour to navigate to find something to watch. Would take longer but I usually settle for anything just to be able to watch my tv. Lose the signal and need to unplug repeatedly every evening. I've been putting up with this for months. I'll call but not confident anything will change. For the past year my RCN bill has gone up a few dollars almost every month. Last month it went up $15. When I called I was told that this was a yearly increase and nothing could be done. I did some research and she is right. There is no viable option in this area. This month it went up $5.
