The most amazing practice! Superb provider (Dr. Fahmy) and staff, quick, on time, very clean, fantastic bedside manner, it's wonderful and I feel privileged to be a patient here! I came in with an issue with my IUD, he diagnosed it and treated it on the spot, then set me up and performed another IUD placement a month later and was committed to my happiness with it. Wonderful experience. Due to COVID-19, my regular OB/Gyn has extremely limited availability. I was overdo for an exam and found Dr. Ravikumar via ZocDoc. I'm sooo glad this happened because she is amazing! Firstly, the office is small but beautifully decorated and furnished. The facility is located conveniently off the 1,2, and 3 subway lines. Booking an appointment was also very convenient via the ZocDoc app and they had a wide variety available within 2 weeks of my booking. Upon arrival, the staff was wearing masks and walked me thru their check-in process which included filling out some electronic forms I forgot my wallet at home however, the staff was very willing to take electronic copies of my ID cards (thank for for technology). I was seen within 10 minutes of completing my forms. The medical assistant took my vital signs then I was off to see Dr. Ravikumar. Prior to my exam, she sat with me with review my history and any concerns; I appreciated this as it made me feel like she really cared to understand my needs and plan of care. During the exam, she was patient and advised me with each step. She was also very personable and welcoming. I had a great experience overall and I feel like I had optimal care which was comparable, maybe even better than my regular practitioner (and thats saying a lot!). The wait time was decent, the reception was average. Dr. Farris Fahmy was extraordinary. He was jovial, gentle, he listened to my past history, asked appropriate questions, and I felt I received the time I needed without feeling rushed. The number one BEST reason why I was ready to sign Dr. Fahmy on as my future baby-doctor (one day?) was because I asked him if he would be willing to perform elective cesarean births. This is something I feel very strongly about, and yes I have done all my research on this as well. Dr. Fahmy said, "yes, of course. My wife had 2, and I wouldn't have it any other way." SOLD! I scheduled my annual checkup for exactly a year later, which would put us at Aug 2011, on a Saturday afternoon (my only day off from work). A YEAR later, I receive a call a few days to confirm my appointment... you bet I'm coming! Then, at 5PM on Friday night... the night BEFORE my appointment, during that golden 15 min when all IMPORTANT phonecalls are made before receptionists and office staff HASTILY step out the door for their weekends... I get a call. "Hello Courtney, this is ____ from Aster OB/GYN." uh, yes? "There is a problem with your insurance." What kind of a problem, I use it every week for my allergy shots. It works! "Well, Dr. Fahmy no longer accepts Blue Cross/ Blue Shield." WHAT?! You are calling me at 5PM the night BEFORE my scheduled appointment-- an appointment that has been scheduled for a YEAR-- to tell me that the doctor no longer accepts my insurance? She continued to tell me that I could pay the private pay fee of $250, or pay using my insurance which would be $5000 (to meet my deductible). DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE OUT OF NETWORK. I decided to come to Aster OBGYN after reading all of the great reviews. I was originally told that all though I am out of network, my entire visit (routine annual) would be covered by insurance. I was actually charged over $2K for the visit and lab fees. I called the office many times and they ensured me that they would adjust the price to the amount given by insurance. Despite the frequent phone calls and emails, they did not actually resolve the issue until the lab bill was sent to a bill collection agency 5 months later. The staff is very nice however if you are out of network, you will likely have to endure months of back and forth in order to resolve your issue. In my opinion, it is not worth it so I will never be coming back here again! read more

This is the ultimate Manhattan private practice. The only thing that would make it better is Taye Diggs to greet you at the door (because obviously you don't want him doing your exam). Anyway. I've only been once but everything went well and it seems very promising! I saw Dr. Yu and he was very thorough and explained everything as he went along. Great bedside manner. They have a great system where you can get your test results pretty much as soon as they come in, and Dr. Yu said if you need an appointment and there's nothing available online, you can call and they can try to squeeze you in. A+ for customer service. The place is beautiful and the staff was friendly enough. It seemed like I was the only patient there that morning so I was seen pretty much right away. They offer the full spectrum of ob/gyn services, from routine paps to prenatal care, and everything in between. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better... they have heated toilet seats. I have been a patient of Dr. Fahmy's since 2004. I was not happy at first of having a male physician. Figured if he didn't have a "hooha" then he doesn't know what this yearly horrendous exam feels like. well, he's done well thus far, lol. He speaks to you during the exam and says these nonsense things that has you thinking what is this man talking about, lol. Next thing you know, your done. My last pregnancy was a bit of trouble (she still is 4 years later.) I must say that I felt safe with my doctor. He explained everything that was going on, why I was high risk, why I was put on bed rest, and was honest when he didn't have a complete answer because well there wasn't one. When I ended up in the hospital near my home, he showed concern and kept in contact with the physicians that were talking care of me. I recommend Dr. Fahmy all the time. My wife has gone to Allen Pavilion hospital for her problem and never got cure but after someone in the hospital referral to Dr Fahmy she called and told the girl it was an emergency and thank God Dr had an open appointment and saw her that afternoon he did more than a complete hospital did for her. Dr. Fahmy is the best doctor and OBGYN I've seen before and I would highly recommend anyone in need of a gynecologist. I have been a patient of his office for ~ 5 years now. They are incredibly timely versus the "typical" doctor's office, are always available to answer questions and make you feel incredibly comfortable when you are in the office. I always leave satisfied that everything I needed to know has been answered. If there are ever concerns Dr. Fahmy always makes time to see his patients. Dr. Fahmy and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable, understanding and come with a bedside manner you don't always find from other doctors and doctor office staff. Currently, I'm pregnant and due in the fall and confident I'm in the best hands. Dr. Fahmy is great, but so are the nurses that work along side him. I have very difficult medical issues, I suffer with PCOS, which can be very difficult to treat. I was seen by Dr Fahmy and had to make multiple appointments, I was really sick and kept having problem after problem, I thought I was losing my mind. No matter how many times I wanted to come in, his doors were always open specially for those who have a serious or difficult issue. Make an appt with Dr Fahmy it is well worth it, especially if you have complex issues. He has almost no wait time, and is pushy in a way where he is determined to solve your problems. The best experience I've had going to the doctors has been at the private practice Aster OBGYN to see Dr. Farris Fahmy. The staff is very courteous, professional and do a great job of scheduling appointments. I haven't waited more than 5 minutes to see the doctor. Dr. Fahmy is wonderful, he takes time to go over every detail and answer all your questions. This is my first pregnancy and he has been very patient helping ease any concerns I have. Also the doctor is readily available for any emergency that may arise. I was ridiculously anxious about going into labor and the only other person whom comforted me, along with my husband, was Dr. Fahmy. I was very well taken care of. The staff members are cordial and the office is exceptionally organized. This isn't your typical obgyn office. There's no wait time, there's fastidious service. And my husband being in the healthcare industry, swears that this isn't the customary practice. We are in awe at how well Aster is run. Not once, did I not receive an email and text reminder for an appointment. Not once, did I leave the office unsatisfied. And not once, was I not treated with mindfulness. Even when I had an emotional breakdown at the office, Dr. Fahmy handled the situation with the utmost care. He took the time to reassure me that everything was going to be okay and the I would have a seamless delivery. Which now, being 10 days postpartum, I can attest to say that he was absolutely right. I would have another baby in a heart beat as long Dr. Fahmy is delivering it. A few other things I have to note: At about 26 weeks into my pregnancy, due to certain circumstances, my insurance was changed, to an insurance the office doesn't take. Dr. Fahmy was modest about it and did not even consider for a second turning me away. All in all, I was provided with meticulous care. And Dr. Fahmy even went as far as to coming in on his day off, a late Saturday evening, to check up and me and the baby and to accommodate my schedule. I can honestly go on forever about how great my experience was. If you are looking for a doctor that is caring while maintaining an efficient office, DR. FAHMY is the person. Besides, he has the best sense of humor, knows how to calm a hormonal pregnant woman and always makes an uncomfortable situation so much more pleasant. At Aster Obgyn, you are NOT in good hands. I've been seeing Dr. Fahmy for several years for annual exams. Everything is always so top-notch that I am now willing to pay out of pocket for the second year in a row to see him. He no longer takes my insurance from years back, but it doesn't matter. He's so good, that I am willing to pay the cost. I saw him this past Saturday and as always, everything was perfect. His ease and sense of humor are always just what I need to help me with the anxiety I have, I was seen quickly, and the woman who took my blood did it so efficiently and well that it barely even hurt when she had to stick me with the needle. Not two days later I already have all of my lab results back. This is quite different than other doctors I've seen in the past, especially gynecologists, where I've had to wait a week or more for pap results. Listen...I never write reviews unless I've had a highly unsatisfactory experience, and rarely then, but this time I couldn't wait to get home so I could leave a glowing review for Dr. Fahmy and his staff. In short: they were amazing. I was seen almost as soon as I walked in, even though I was a little bit early. The young lady behind the desk (so sorry I didn't get her name) was very sweet and efficient, and their assistant, Krystal, was one of the most personable I've come across. We chatted about a little bit of everything while she took my vitals, and she let me know everything that was going to happen during my visit there. When I went back to chat with Dr. Fahmy in his office before my visit (this is done for all new patients), I felt "at home" with him and did not feel judged or characterized by him based on some of the things I told him about my history, and he even made me laugh quite a bit; it was like talking to an old friend. He was very sincere and genuine, and I didn't feel rushed at all. My insurance is out of network (I guess I didn't pay enough attention when I booked the appointment), but he reassured me that I had nothing to worry about as everything would be covered. The pap was as painless as these things go, and he and his nurse made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. He was very thorough, giving me the run of the mill exam, pap, and did an abdominal and vaginal ultrasound due to some of the concerns I'd brought up. Once I was finished with that, he let me know that he'd have Krystal draw my blood for an extensive workup, and that all I'd have to do was make a follow up appointment to have my old copper IUD removed and a new IUD (Mirena) put in, and my labs would be ready in about a week or so. I was in and out in less than an hour, but I didn't feel as if any stones were left unturned, so to speak. I only wish I had more lady friends in NYC to refer to him. read more

I had not seen an Ob/Gyn in about a decade, so needless to say, I was nervous. First of all, I called in advance to make sure my insurance was accepted. They told me they'd call me back in a minute to verify. I went in for an appointment next week. I had a consultation. Dr. asked several questions about my history, and towards the end of the consultation learned that they DON'T ACCEPT MY INSURANCE; they're out of network and need to negotiate with the insurance company. They promised the first appointment would be free of charge. I saw the MD in June and despite all the phone calls, can never get the MD on the phone - I'm constantly asked to email him instead. Nobody ever called back or followed up on the update on negotiations, even after I told them I was pregnant and needed to come in immediately granted they tell me how much I needed to pay per visit, but was explained that it could take weeks or months to say. I think it was untruthful of them to say they accepted my insurance over the phone but not state it was out of network. They find tactful ways to get you in the office. While the office is very fancy and extremely up to date, the MD is unreachable at all times by phone. He is dedicated to seeing a large host of patients which makes me feel that while he may be a good doctor, he can't possible provide quality attention and care if his focus is on quantity. During my visit he stepped out and popped his head in several times to say he will be in with me momentarily. I popped my head out to see what was going on and he had 5 other patients he was trying to simultaneously see, all in different rooms. And I kept seeing more patients being setup in rooms as I sat and waited. Dr. Farris Fahmy may be a great doctor with a lot of experience, but I prefer someone I can reach when needed; someone who gives me their undivided attention on my appointment instead of trying to juggle a host of patients; someone who doesn't make silly jokes when he's checking my body; and rushes through all the questions so fast I can't hear half of what he's saying. read more

Athough i was an active patient and paid all my co-payments to them. In one word "CREEPY." I will NEVER EVER return. When I arrived and saw how things were being run (poorly) I should have listened to my gut and turned around...Farris Fahmy took my history and then proceeded to talk about himself, more like a macho guido would on a speed date as opposed to an established medical professional. I kept looking around and thinking "Is there a camera somewhere, is this a joke?" Anyway, I went through with the exam. After the exam they needed to take blood. I told the nurse that I have low blood pressure and tend to pass out. Rather than have me sit down or do all the other things a regular doctor or even blood donation center does she tells me "Don't pass out on me I can't handle that." Midway through the blood being taken I tell her I'm feeling ill and need to stop, she insisted I try a little more but at the rate the blood was coming out (very slowly) and how I was feeling I declined. I had to ask to lay down as she just looked at me dumbfounded. I laid down and then needed to get up after a minute (since they needed the room asap for another patient). She told me to go sit in the waiting room. I got up and of course, passed out in the middle of the waiting room and fell to the floor. I woke up with random faces around me (one was another patient, kind enough to rush over to me). The doctor came out and laughed it off, told me I should have had a 'Diet Coke." We arrived in New York and didn't even have a GP when I discovered I was pregnant. I found Aster on yelp and since we lived close by decided to try it and am so glad I did. Dr. Farris Fahmy is an amazing doctor; from my first appointment to the birth of our baby girl I knew I was in good hands. As a sole practitioner he has all the time in the world for his patients and is available 24/7. He is friendly, professional and has an excellent bedside manner. Your appointments never feel rushed and he addresses all your concerns no matter how seemingly trivial. I felt at ease in his care throughout my entire pregnancy. Since my last review I feel that the service has gone down overall. The doctor is still a good doctor and there are maybe two staff members that do an excellent job but the rest do not. I had an awful experience due to their negligence of taking my vitals before an important procedure. I recently started going to another facility as I too have been feeling as if he is rushing through the office visit. I found Dr. Fahmy and Aster OB-GYN while I was 27 weeks pregnant with my first child. Before finding Dr. Fahmy I had tried three different offices and multiple OB's. My experiences in these first offices with their doctors all left me feeling nervous, depressed, scared, unhappy and questioning. Pregnancy while beautiful, is also terrifying and filled with hundreds of UNKNOWNS. At 27 weeks I was missing that comforting feeling you look for from a doctor, someone that makes you feel it is all going be okay. I searched endlessly for a new OB. I stumbled upon Dr. Fahmy's office and read hundreds of Dr. Fahmy's & Aster's reviews. I knew I had to meet this doctor. I called his office, and was instantly overwhelmed and impressed by the office's kindness, compassion, and willingness to help on the phone, they handled calling my insurance, they handled all correspondences, they actually CARED. Within 3 days I had my first appointment with Dr. Fahmy and instantly was blown away. For the first time in a very long time, I found a doctor who CARED. A doctor who did not rush our visit, a doctor who answered any and all of my questions and never seemed annoyed, a doctor who was knowledgable of me as a patient. In Dr. Fahmy's office you are not just a number. He takes the time to know you, know your needs, and actually care about them. Dr. Fahmy is what the health care system used to be, and what we all wish it still was. After a few weeks at Aster, I had my first appointment with Dr. Ravikumar, and WOW! Once again I was blown away in the best way possible. Dr. Ravikumar, like Dr. Fahmy, was out of this world AMAZING. She printed every photo of my little girl that I could have possibly ever wanted, even when it was alittle redundant; she also is the best in her field. Every medical assissant I encountered was also AMAZING! Each staff member was patient, understanding, and they never made you feel like you were wasting their time. At Aster OB-GYN you are never put on hold; when you call you get to speak instantly to a person, not a recording where you have to wait 25 minutes then press three because you have a question for a nurse, to only wait another 25 minutes. It is clear that at Aster OB-GYN every aspect is thought out, and each and every member of their team has one main priority, patient care, their priority is YOU. On December 17th, 2021, Dr. Fahmy delivered our daughter via C-Section, and I could not be any happier with every single part of the process. We have a healthy, beautiful baby girl, who Dr. Fahmy delivered in a smooth, safe procedure. He was their every step of the way before the surgery, in the surgery, and after the surgery. By listening to everything he said and all his advice, I also had an amazing recovery. The stitch work on my scar is flawless, and my stomach is healing better than I could have ever expected. Dr. Ravikumar checked on me in the hospital after my procedure, ensuring my care was up to her standards, and reassuring me once again. Aster OB-GYN is a true gift. Dr Yu has moved practices, but he is - by far - the BEST OB-GYN I have ever been to and I have been to many. He has an impreccable bedside manner and took the time to thoroughly explain everything to me. I had to go back for a couple of follow-ups and for the first time EVER - I didn't stress about it. This is the second year I visit Dr. Fahmy for my annual exam along with blood tests and he is an extremely professional and nice doctor. Last year I was hesitant about seeing a male doctor for the first time and this year I was looking forward to seeing him again. He keeps good notes about his clients and it felt great that he remembered I was in school (my previous obgyn was a very rude and detached woman). Dr. Fahmy is hands down the best doctor I have ever worked with. I came to him unable to get pregnant and he patiently worked with me until I conceived. I really appreciated working with someone so trustworthy and intelligent through this process which can often be stressful. Dr. Fahmy would always sit patiently as I went through my lists of questions and I never felt rushed or belittled. I also loved that I was encouraged to call or stop in for any problem I had, no matter how small. He was always available by phone or in person right away for my concerns. When it came time to deliver my son, I had the utmost trust and respect for Dr. Fahmy. It made my labor and delivery a much more pleasant experience knowing he was there to look out for us. Dr. Fahmy's office is also truly one of a kind, and that is rare in NYC. He purposefully doesn't take too many patients so that he can give each one his attention and dedication. The wait is never very long, and I came to feel at home in his office (the heated toilet seats are a nice touch!) The staff is unparalleled. They remember who you are after the first visit and are always friendly and helpful with insurance problems or whatever else. His wife runs the "business" end of his practice and it is clear that they truly care and put thought into the patient experience. It's also nice that Dr. Fahmy has a working email system and he responds very quickly, but will call personally with any type of sensitive information. Unfortunately Dr. Fahmy stopped taking my insurance (GHI), but other than that I have absolutely nothing bad to say. I feel very lucky that he delivered my beautiful, healthy son and will very much miss being his patient! read more

Dr. Fahmy and Dr. Yu are fantastic doctors. They are always readily available via phone/email and are very prompt in responding back. They both have a great beside manner and make you feel comfortable. I never have to wait and the staff and nurses there are professional and ready to assist with any discomfort. Dr. Fahmy is always in a funny and upbeat mood and I always feel well assured as he discusses every treatment in detail and what to expect, etc. When Dr. Fahmy is performing surgery, Dr. Yu is available and both are attentive to any signs of anxiety and good with follow up. read more

Dr. Yu was amazing. I am so glad that i randomly picked this place from the internet. I cant wait for him to deliver my baby when i get pregnant. I had initially wanted to have a baby close to my where my parents live, but after meeting Dr. Yu, i know he is the best. He explained many options that we have as well as answered all my questions. I went to the emergency room and he was in constant contact with the doctors there to get all the info and to recommend anything based on my history. I had to have emergency surgery and the doctor called me to check up on me a few times and to make sure i was ok. This is 5 Star service. In regards to the other review, i have Blue Cross and they accepted it without any issues. It is issued through work so not sure if that makes a difference. I have been a patience of Dr. Fahmy for about 10 years now and would not change him for the world. Dr. Fahmy has been with me thru 2 pregnancy a miscarriage and a full term which ended up to be an emergency C-section, thru both situations i could not have ask for a more patient and sympathetic doctor.
