Service has improved greatly since getting competition from Über. Associated now answers their phones promptly. Waiting time for pick up isn't long. Drivers are friendly and helpful. Recently I forgot an item in one of their cars. I reported it to their Lost and Found and a few days later the item turned up in my mailbox. Very impressed. read more

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in this company! NEVER USE! SKETCHY EMPLOYEES AND LIARS - both driver and management!!! A cell phone was left in cab #17. The phone was tracked immediately using 'Find my iPhone' and could follow the cab's path. Got ahold of the company and the driver called back to say there was no phone left in the cab, but told him I could clearly see the phone's location. As soon as the cabdriver discovered the phone was being traced it was immediately shut off so it was untraceable. Cab driver said he had no other passenger since drop off. Called the manager... Gave him the phone # from the cab driver and he insists that number does not belong to any of his drivers. I called the number back and the cab driver answers! Shame on you 'Manager'! Blatant lie! Associated cab has vans that are equipped with ramp for power wheelchairs. Great.... however the booking system is terrible. There is no guarantee that the time booked will be honoured with at least a close time frame. I waited over 1.5 hours for pick up (2 x) even though I booked several hours in advance . I did not receive a text, or phone call that a cab would be late... I called dispatch more than once with little confirmation that I could expect something "soon" It seems to be up to the Driver to search for someone who may be waiting??? More information needs to be provided when booking to "not expect" a cab for the time booked (not even within 1.5 hrs This is very poor service for those with mobility issues or the elderly. Most discourteous driver - Whenever I Land in Calgary which is more than once a month, I take the associated cab. No choice there unless you want to go for Uber. As is my habit after getting into the cab I ask for the Driver's name, not for any reason but to make conversation easy (as some drivers have good talking skills). This time when I asked the drivers name he paused for a good 20 seconds before responding with a "Why?". I was shocked. Then he went on to say arrogantly,that this is the first time anyone asked his name and people call him cabbie. I told him that just for casual conversation I always ask the name, he replied "You can call me Cabbie" I asked him if he had a name why not call him by that. He said again my name is for social purposes only. What arrogance. I kept quiet after that and did not converse anymore. I had the opportunity to witness great customer service from one of Calgarys cab company drivers. Associated Cab driver brought into my place of employment an elderly ill lady who was wheel chair bound, stayed by her side and made sure she was ok. Driver #1365 was very patient with lady and took care of her. I see a lot of clients come by cab and none take the the time to take special care of there customers. I used this service for the first time because I was staying at a hotel beside the Calgary Airport that uses them as a "shuttle service." The hotel was great. The cab service ... not so great. The man who took us from the hotel to the airport was very abrupt from the start. He immediately said that we had too much stuff and therefore, it would not fit in his car, so we should order a larger one. He could not drive us. The hotel staff came to our defense and said she had seen a lot more fit into those cars (safe to say, it all fit with room to spare). Then on my return trip from the airport back to the hotel, I got into the car and the driver was pleasant and helped me with my luggage but as soon as I told him I was going to the hotel and they would have a voucher for him, his mood totally changed. He came off rude and once we arrived, he immediately marched into the hotel and I had to figure out how to get my luggage out of the trunk (it was a van and I couldn't find the latch). No pleasantries after the trip, not even a goodbye from the driver, despite my best effort to be polite and engage with him. I was planning on tipping the drivers both trips (despite it being a 2 min car ride) but my attitude towards that changed after these interactions. I get the drivers make more money if they have longer trips, but when the company has these agreements in place, you expect more from the drivers. I would not use their service again. I'd rather support a taxi company than the gig economy of Uber, but my Associated Cab took 20 minutes to arrive and then picked up a random drunk. The dispatcher was not helpful when I phoned back and simply claimed that the customer had been picked up. Well no he hadn't. The Uber we phoned next arrived after only 2 minutes and picked us up. There is no comparison and Associated deserve to go out of business. read more

I waited an hour and a half for a cab and instead of them calling me to say that they had no cabs in the south, they just left me waiting. At least have the courtesy to call someone to say no cab is coming. Plus do not take the order if you can't fulfil it, just be honest and say NO upfront. Just got cab from Calgary airport to Westin Airport hotel three minutes ride away. Both I and the wife told the guy it was the Westin Airport hotel clearly in English. He said yes and then when leaving the airport just about hit a barrier because so destracted. Then he hits the freeway for down town. I said hey this is far for airport hotel. He goes you said Westin down town. Both the wife and I chimed in and said we both told you airport Westin. Then he gets frustrated and starts ripping around the freeway and backstreets to get back to airport Westin. Literally can see the terminal. Now he charges us $40 for the 20 minute mistake. This was all at two in the morning so very frustrating. Biggest ripoff of the whole holiday. Welcome back to Canada you rip-off artists. My daughter told me to get the Uber. I should of listened. Absolutely terrible company. Called looking to book a cab for a young person who got on the wrong bus and missed the outbound bus. Told him the exact location I was at, he then says I can't send a cab if the place doesn't exist. I tell him the cross roads and ask if he wanted the bus stop number if it'll help. The person on the phone then says "thanks for playing along" and hangs up. This is why no one cares about taxis anymore when Uber offers a much better service with actual standards. My car broke down and I needed a cab home with 3 big dogs. The fellow on the phone was a real idiot. Total jerk. I explained my situation and that I am not an experienced cab person. I told him where I was and that I had the dogs. How long will it be? His answer was it will be there when it's there. When the driver came he was not told that I had dogs. He took us but was not comfortable around large dogs. He was great and did not make me feel like a bother. I don't think I would call again unless it was a last option. Shut the front door! I can reserve my cab on the interwebs? Meowzah! Sure can! At least with Associated, I haven't checked with anyone else yet. It's Christmas party season and I anticipated a super long wait time to get through the dispatch to reserve myself a cab out to a friend's birthday party. 11 minutes on hold with #TAXI and then another 7 minutes on hold with Associated while I waited for one of their customer service people to come on the line and take my address. I considered myself lucky having waited less than 20 minutes at 630 on a Saturday... and even luckier still when my cab was here within 15 minutes of that. I had budgeted about an hour just to be on the safe side. On my way to my friend's house, I communicated my delight at the short wait times on the phone. My cab driver smiled and said, "You know, you can also reserve your cab on our website. Everyone has a phone with internet these days! It's so fast. The problem isn't getting a cab, it's getting through to dispatch. This cuts it down! And you can even check and see if a cab is on its way to you after you've reserved it." SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!! How is this the first I'm hearing about this? We predrink a bit at my friend's house before heading out. I decided to test the website reservation feature. I head to Associated's website. It looks a little archaic and I was skeptical about the online reservation system. But I clicked the button, input my name, phone number and pickup address and hit "book." Within seconds, I had a confirmation number. It took me a little bit of snooping to find the spot to track my reservation after that (hint: Click on online reservations again, click book online, and from there you'll see a menu option that says "track & modify my order. If you're on a mobile phone, do this in a separate web browser from your confirmation number so you don't lose it easily.) This was at 8:20pm and I had reserved our cab for 8:45pm. Around 8:41pm, I plugged in my phone number and confirmation number to check on the status of our cab. It was only 1km away! Refreshing the page brought me more updates. Right up until it said our cab had arrived. We headed outside... but there was no cab! Egads! As I was expressing my dismay at what had so far been a painless process, our cab rounded the corner and we were on our way. Lesson: Skip the phone and order your cab online. Improvements to the system: I was expecting a text message confirmation at the very least. Adding this to the system so I don't have to log on from my phone to check the order status would make this process a 5-star one in my books! Also, a text message or a call when the cab arrives out front (like what you get when you phone dispatch or use #taxi) would also be wonderful! Anyway, kudos to driver from Associated Cab #88 for telling me about the online reservation system. He totally made my evening! read more

Dispatch was great, taxi arrived in a reasonable amount of time, things got a little weird after that. Taxi driver said his credit card machine wasn't working and he could only take cash - this was fine by me and so I agreed. As we were driving he then covered his hand over the meter and pushed a few buttons, maybe I'm crazy but when we arrived at my destination I would guess the fare on the meter vs what I expected the trip to cost to be 25% higher. I went to pay with cash only to realize I didn't have enough and said I could only pay with visa, at which point his machine magically started to work again. I don't know if I got ripped off or if I'm just a little leary of cab drivers these days. Very very bad & dis-honest I left my back pack in the trunk of the car, the driver said he never seen it and maybe someone else took it out (and how might that be?) 10 calls later and 1 to the manager and still nothing, they keep saying "oh no sir the driver said there was nothing left in his trunk", LIES. I refuse to accept this dis-honest behaviour!! I caught this cab from the airport to downtown Calgary and tipped the drive $9, how can the airport let this firm be a contractor/service for their airport?? I was scammed by this company! The driver told me he was a taxi when I got picked up from the Calgary airport. We went for an 8min ride to my airport hotel....he tried to charge me $47.50!!! He faught with me in the car for 15min, he called his dispatch on speaker (they are part of the scam). It got very aggressive so I paid him $30 to get out of there as I felt unsafe. I was close to calling the police. Do not use this company...they prey on people from the airport. I hope Uber puts you out of business! read more

I have used quite a few cab companies and had relatively positive experience with all of them. What makes Associated Cabs stand out, unfortunately, is not a good one. Last week I called an Associated Cab at Safeway SW/downtown to my place only 1.1 km away, and was charged for $7 as opposed to $5 including a generous tip. The meter was already at $3.8(standard flag-down $3.4). I lodged a complaint with the company head office. Both the handling clerk Dave and his supervisor were very defensive, claiming drivers can start the meter at the point of contact with the customer, with which I completely agree. However I was the one waiting for him outside Safeway. Then they argued a normal $5 fare could well jump to $10 or so because of traffic. And there was little traffic(downtown is almost dead at 8pm on a weekday!). Both were rude throughout and there's no customer service..at all. I just feel a customer deserves a fair treatment, which Associated Cabs is incapable of providing. I'm not hanging up on the $2; I would be more than happy to give him that if he had a reason. It's a matter of principle of not ripping customers off like that. read more

i'm dealing with these people on a daily basis. As of the drivers, most of them are friendly and professionals, very different from other companies even from the yellow checker cab who i never had a good experience. The only gripes i had is the call center, they are less friendly and cranky specially if you're trying to make a follow up or asking some questions. maybe they have a huge amount of phone calls to attend but its not an excuse. And like i said, i dealt with this company for almost 6 years already on a daily basis. So in short, DRIVERS= very good and professionals CALL CENTER= could be better and especially if the conversation end with a click! try it your self. read more

I travel from Calgary airport to the executive airport on a regular basis for work. The cab driver said he knew where I was going. I looked it up on google maps as we were driving and I mentioned that I thought he was going the wrong direction. He assured me this was the fastest way. I was on a time crunch and was a bit worried. Then he made another turn that took us way off the path. By now I had only 15 minutes to check in at the airport. I told him and showed my google maps and he turned around. I noticed he didn't have his meter running so was curious what he was going to charge. When we pulled up with 5 minutes to spare, he told me it was $32.10. Usually it is an $18 ride. I mentioned that and he gave me a story about the starting fare from the airport. I told him I do this trip a lot and it's never $32. I don't know where he got the $0.10 to add to it either. I don't trust them and won't be using them again. read more

My last few experiences with Associated Cab have been undesirable, to say the least. Today was no exception. In fact, it was a prime example of why I should avoid using Associated Cab as a transportation service in the future. I called a car tonight and was told it would take 20 to 25 minutes to arrive. After 25 minutes I called back and was told that based on my position in line (third) when I called it could take up to 30 minutes and that my car would be there soon. 20 minutes later the car had not arrived. I called a third time and was told that I was still third in line and the cab was going to take a very long time. I had somewhere to be this evening and as a result of this mishap had to cancel those plans. If I was informed of the actual wait time when I first called to place the order, I would have contacted another company or tried to make alternate arrangements. A little honesty would have been appreciated and saved me the time it took to wait for a cab to arrive, while trying to manage an antsy one year old. I understand that oftentimes extenuating circumstances arise, and I also know that there is a shortage of cabs in Calgary. But as I mentioned above, an honest response would have helped me arrive to my destination on time and saved Associated Cab a customer. And, it doesn't help that when one calls to find out where ones cab is, one is greeted by a less than friendly dispatch operator. The last call I made to subsequently cancel my order, I spoke to someone who sounded like I had woken her from a nap. And her unimpressed and unapologetic tone didn't help the situation much either. Definitely avoiding Associated Cab in the future if I can help it. read more

My son, who has never been to Calgary before got his hotel to prebook a cab for him for 6:30am. He needed to be at the Airport to catch a charter flight to his new job. Well the cab was over an hour later, causing him to miss his flight. Because of this missed flight to the camp job, he paid for a flight to Fort MAc to catch a bus to the camp, only to find out when he got there that he lost the job because they said he didn't show up for work on time. SO in the end my son paid for a bus to Calgary ($74.03), a taxi to hotel ($32.00), hotel ($95.92), $38.00 from the hotel to the airport #1 by the LATE TAXI, taxi to main airport ($30.00), flight to Fort Mac ($361.33), a course for the job ($275.00), with a grand total of $896.28. Oh yeah this doesn't included the loss of pay from the job or trying to figure out the cheapest way to return home. Take this companies cabs - no f...ing way. read more

Today May 29 around 6PM I called a cab to pick me up somewhere in 17ave-14st. I waited thinking its only going to take 10 to 20 minutes the most as the lady who answered my call didn't advice me. 20 minutes came, and another 20 minutes at a very windy and cold afternoon was kind of frustrating. I phoned back and the lady said the cab is at around 2km away from me and didn't tell me exactly what time which I missed to ask as well, here comes the cab, I waved, went pass over me and didn't know where did he go. I was about to call other cab when the driver keep blowing his horn at the church parking!! This happened to me three times already due to poor service. Let your customer know of what time your cab can come as sometimes passenger forget to ask so they won't be waiting like crazy especially in the cold. read more

I work at yyc airport. Sometime I take Associated cab. Most of the time the car smells. 3 to 4 times I didn't say anything but today when I took cab, Driver was smelling like a hell, sweat smell due to that full car was smelling his sweat, I think he would have never washed his jacket or he must have not taken shower for a month, when I asked driver he said he doesn't know why it's not smelling, and got mad at me. That 15 minute was like a tougher for me, was feeling like to throw up, headache. I didn't even tip him. please make sure to keep your car clean. read more

Unreliable! Almost made us late for our flight!! I booked a ride one week in advance of our departure date and specifically asked for a minivan because we had five passengers with luggage and specified that it was to go to the airport for an international flight. On the departure date, we waited and waited...15 minutes past the time the taxi was supposed to arrive, we called them and were told that there weren't enough minivans working that day. The dispatcher told us that they can send two cars that can be at our house in a half-an-hour but we would need to pay for two taxis! Because we were going to be late for check-in if we waited for the replacement taxis, we ended up having to drive and pay for parking at the airport. read more

100% appalled!!! I was driving south on Sarcee road to pick up my son from work at 2:25 am when a vehicle came speeding up behind me. I was convinced this must be an intoxicated driver, it preceded to pass me on this 2 way road. Once it passed I realized it was an associated cab. I did not get a car number as it was speeding very fast down the road. Once I got to the Petro Canada on 37st he was leaving his fare there. I would normally pass this off however I had my toddler with me. If this is good service I am thouroughly disgusted! To endanger the lives of others on the road to deliver one fare.... This is a tough one. I love the online booking-except that it is based on Google maps, and being at the outer edge of Panorama, our address isn't on Google maps yet. So when we try to book online, it says invalid address. So we always have to call, which can take a LONG while. I have yet to have a bad driver-they have all been very pleasant and showed up on time-our trip is ALWAYS to the airport, which is expensive, yes-but we are ok with that. The cars have all been very clean except one, and given it was winter and slushy out, that seems reasonable to expect some snow/sluch inside-and it wasn't bad at all-just a bit. The last dispatch person I had was so rude I wanted to reach through the phone and throttle him. But I just called today to book a cab for 4:30 pm this afternoon....the female dispatcher was very pleasant and explained why I couldn't get my address on their system. Seems Google maps isn't their favourite either for this very reason. Assuming they show up today on time, I am ok with using them again. Lets hope today is not the day they don't show up. I have yet to find a GREAT cab company-they all seem to be pretty well the same. read more

Well. I have been using associates taxis for about a year. I spend close to $800.00 a month on taxis. The drivers are good. Mainly. Today I waited for OVER AN HOUR and called half a dozen times. Only to have a totally rude woman answer. She was the worst dispatch I've EVER SPOKEN TOO. I hung up after being insulted twice by her and called checker. Booked a cab ft our Trip to the airport at 5:30am. No one was there at 5:32 so I called. Guy says: "it's not guaranteed even though it says booked on the app" Really?! Maybe say that then. I prebooked a taxi for a certain time and requested the taxi service call if there was a problem - ie taxi being late etc. The taxi arrived a half hour early disrupting a business meeting -- by knocking on the door. I called the office and had the call end prematurely with the operator hanging up while I was in mid-sentence near the end of our conversation. If you're requiring a cab service for an important engagement or a required time, I wouldn't recommend this service. read more
