For over 2 decades, Associated Appliance has been my go-to for appliance needs. As a property investor, they are always happy to work with me on getting the BEST fit when it comes to choices. Sometimes it's best high end "best of the best" budget --and even knowing that, they suggest options where I saved on things like dented sides or a still worthy discontinued model - matching it to the particular kitchen layout - where no one would be aware nor care. They took the time to match options that not only saved me budget greatly, and delivered not only top-notch customer service but I ended up with appliances that well exceeded my expectation (and I'm one tough judge!) I wish I had read these reviews before allowing Associated Appliances into my home. My refrigerator wasn't making ice, and Frigidaire sent this company to fix it--but they clearly had no idea what they were doing. Over the course of two months, they sent three different technicians for a total of four visits. Not one of them could diagnose the problem. They even asked me to have a plumber check the water pressure, which I did. The plumber informed me that the water pressure was normal and good enough for the refrigerator to make ice. Associated appliances kept insisting it was still a water pressure issue (as if they were experts in plumbing). In the end, they simply left the problem unresolved, David (owner) was very rude, basically hunging up the phone on me wishing me good luck. I then had to contact Frigidaire again to request a different service company. The irony? The new company identified and fixed the problem right away in only one visit. I wish I had read reviews but I had friends who used Associated Appliance with success, and the business is right up the road so I thought I'd be lucky too- WRONG! Our ice-maker line broke off from our 7-year old refrigerator. I called, explained, provided model/serial number and they were quick to ask for a credit card to "hold" for a house call. No problem. I explained that if the repair TOTAL would be over $400 to not bother with ordering/charging beyond the diagnostic/house call because we'd just get a new fridge. Whoever I spoke to assured me that based on my description and the make/model/serial number of the refrigerator, the total would be in the ballpark of $350-$400 (including house call). Upon arrival for the house call, they ASSESSED our fridge and found that it needed a new ice line. When our bill was presented, it was over $700. My husband wasn't aware of what the sales man and I had discussed, so he allowed ASSOCIATED APPLIANCE to proceed. Here's the bummer: because they did not honor the request that I had- to not fix if over $500, the fridge (as I expected) completely died within 2 1/2 months. ASSOCIATED COULD HAVE HAD A SALE ON A NEW FRIDGE! But i had called and expressed my unhappiness over the price and his lack of adhering to my request and he yelled at me, so I hung up and vowed I'd never purchase from ASSOCIATED. So when the fridge died a few months later, I had a great experience with Lowe's and purchased a fridge AND a dishwasher from them. My money could have gone to ASSOCIATED but his eagerness to turn quick buck lost him a little more money and earned him a terrible review! read more

Quick response to online service request. Excellent Communciations on when to expect Scott, the service tech. He diagnosed the problem (broken fan in refrigerator) and ordered necessary parts. Highly recommend these folks. Don't throw out serviceable appliances... fix them! read more

Don't buy online. They don't tell you, but they'll send you confirmation of purchase, all the details but then after a week of waiting for delivery and you find out they don't actually deliver. Great business model. read more

My 15+ year old Thermador oven stopped working, and the parts were no longer available other than thru them. Associated Appliance in Stamford was clear on my options and chance of success, and got the replacement parts and even fixed my oven light switch which was missing for over a decade. It's been working fine for 6 months. Then, all of a sudden, I got an OFF message whenever trying to turn the over on. Online chat sites said if a reset didn't work then the control board needed to be replaced. I called Associated Appliance again, and the really helpful person advised me to turn off the power on the circuit breaker, even knew that it was a double switch, and it might reset after 30 minutes - and it did! They could have easily charged me for a service call, yet their helpfulness and experience quickly corrected the problem. It's refreshing to have that kind of old time honest help in this day of Internet advice that sometimes is not reliable. THANK YOU!! read more

Wow. I have never had such a rude attitude from a store manager. A few weeks ago, I called Associated service department to ask someone to come out to service my 20 year old GE Profile fridge. I acknowledged that the fridge was very old. But the serviceman Scott, who was very helpful with the repair, confirmed that it was on its last legs because the compressor had been repaired once before, and it was now losing cooling. After Scott had left my house, I noticed that the finished ceiling below the fridge was leaking. I called immediately to get Scott back. He came a day later, and we pulled out the fridge, and noticed that the whole floor surrounding the fridge was soaking wet. The day before when we had pulled out the fridge, the floor was bone dry. Now, all the plastic tubes from the water main to the fridge had collapsed and were spurting water everywhere. We got it rigged to stop, but the damage was done. It had leaked to the ceiling below. Later that day, I came into the store to pick out a new fridge. But before I purchased it, I asked to speak to the manager about getting a discount for all the water damage I incurred as a result of the repair. He said he would have him call me. The next day I received a call. Immediately, without even hearing my story, he started yelling at me and blaming me. He told me that the damage had probably been there a year because I had called about the same problem a year ago. I mentioned that my ceiling would have collapsed if that was the case! Yes, I agreed that my fridge had leaked a year ago, but I repaired it, and this was a fresh issue. All I was asking for was a discount because of the damage his "repair" had caused. I wasn't asking for a new fridge. But after much going back and forth, he said it was impossible. Needless to say I didn't proceed with my order. Had the manager been reasonable and treated me respectfully, I probably would have ordered a new fridge from Associated, even without a discount. But because of his lack of professionalism, I couldn't think of bringing my business there. I purchased my fridge elsewhere. read more

I had purchased all new Maytag appliances from Associated Appliance of Stamford in June 2016 while building a new house. From day one the refrigerator was a problem. From ice maker issues, water leaking from dispenser, to defrost problems a total of 4 service calls while under warranty were required just to keep it running. After being out of warranty, I've had to manually remove the freezer and melt the ice buildup on the coils with a heat gun to prevent the horrible noise of the fan impeller rubbing on the ice. After complaining about this issue and others multiple times without recourse from AA of Stamford or Maytag, I paid over $207 2 weeks ago to have a service man from AA come out to determine the underlying issue (compressor still under the 10yr warranty). I was told the coils had a blockage and the Freon wasn't being distributed evenly and thus my need to manually defrost them every 6 to 8 months (a real pain). However, the freezer NEVER had any issues keeping temperature prior to this service call. I've manually thawed the coils myself numerous times without incident. Somehow, the serviceman did something to break the freezer as it never came back down to a proper temperature after the service call. I waited for over 12 hours and my frozen food was only turning to mush. Upon calling Associated Appliance I was told to bring in my receipt and they would credit me $50 toward a new French door refrigerator. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled as the unit WAS at least working prior to the 'service' call. Gary charged my card just over $2100 for a new fridge after the $50 discount. A quick check online proved they overcharged me for the new fridge by $300 to $400 for the exact same model at ANY box store. After calling them, they wanted to know where I saw a cheaper price... I replied 'anywhere... you guys are THE most expensive and this is after the $50 'discount' and your charging me $207 to break my freezer.' I returned to the store as they wouldn't reverse the charges without seeing my card again (not really necessary as a merchant myself I know all daily charges can be reversed same day before batching the daily receipts). I complained again to Gary while reversing the charges for only offering a $50 discount on a $2100+ fridge, overcharging by hundreds for a new fridge, and literally ruining the freezer and charging $207+ for the silly 30 minute service call. This got me absolutely nowhere. No apologies, no attempts to explain, and the owner, David Pia, standing within earshot the entire time ignoring the entire scene. I was surprised at David's unwillingness to at least offer any kind of remediation as I spoke to him numerous times about various issues with this same fridge over the 6 years since purchase. I ended up ordering a much larger, better fridge with far better reviews from Costco for $400 less... and I saved the $185 Associated Appliance wanted to charge for a delivery and hookup fee. Needless to say, I won't be going back to AA of Stamford ever again and advise others to steer clear. read more

I've had two experiences with these guys, which have been mostly positive. They are in my neighborhood and independent so I'd rather purchase from them then a big box retailer if they can compete on price. I purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator from them after they matched the price (including delivery, and installation) from Home Depot. The unit and installation went according to plan. A few months later I needed a dishwasher and called them with the model and price I was planning on buying from Best Buy. He was pretty upfront that they would not be able to offer that price (not to mention the 5% gift card rebate that goes with Best Buy). I'll definitely give them a shot on any appliance purchases that I make in the future. read more

I cannot say enough great things about the service I received from both David (Stamford) and John (Monroe store) over the past month. Having lived in Trumbull for 18+ years, I called them for the first time last month when our washer was leaking. David spoke to my husband at length and saved us the cost of a service call by diagnosing the problem over the phone. We ended up needing a new washer and saw John in Monroe to order. Fast forward 2 weeks and we needed to replace our large A/C unit. John moved heaven and earth to deliver and install ASAP as it was July and HOT. These gentlemen are always just a phone call away and are fair, knowledgable and pleasant. Above all they are honest! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

If I could give this place less than one star I would. We had a problem with our freezer, the fan was making a funny noise due to a drip. We called and they came the next day. They fixed the noisy fan and charged us about $160.00. We noticed that night that NOW the ice maker stopped making ice. It was working just fine before they got there. We called again. They came and told us we needed a new valve. They charged us another $150.00. Next day.... Still no ice. They came a third time and said we needed a new ice maker... The fourth time they said we needed a new filter.... The fifth time they said it's bc we have low water pressure. We stopped paying by now, but we are into bed with them for over $400.00 at this point and I wanted them to fix what they obviously broke. They kept saying they can't fix it bc it's the water pressure. My argument was, then why did it work before you guys got there?? The water pressure was the same then. They came another time, broke my water valve without telling us, and left saying we needed to get a plumber there before they'd come back. Well guess what, we needed the plumber because he JUST broke the water valve under the sink and didn't tell us. Now we are without water for 3 days until the plumber got there. Which cost us $120.00 BECAUSE OF THEM! We asked for money back because we spent all this money only to have more problems. They said they'd do the right thing.... But never did. Big surprise. They asked if we could give their guy one more shot at it. So we let him over. He spent about 30 seconds, and left. He had the ice maker off all this time, and didn't bother to check that first before telling us we needed all these new parts!! And it obviously wasn't the water pressure, because now it's working. They are crooks. Don't buy from them, and for Pete's sake do not call then for repairs. My next call is the BBB. read more

Very disappointed. After spending close to $10K at this business, I have had an ongoing problem with a dishwasher and can't even get a call back. It seems once they have your money they no longer care if you have a problem! After multiple service calls on a brand new appliance you would think the owner would advocate to replace it with one that works. Especially after the amount of money I spent there. Well. I am very, very disappointed with associated. When they recently delivered our new refrigerator their installer dropped the old refrigerator door and damaged our kitchen floor. We have waited over a month to get the damaged floor issue resolved. Today when I spoke to them I was told by the owner, that he didn't give a damn about my poor quality floor. And the damage caused by Kenny his installer. Actually it is a pergo floor the highest quality pergo makes. We have been very happy with the pergo floor. Unfortunately pergo no longer makes this color/finish. I spoke to pergo and suggested moving a plank or two from under the refrigerator or stove to replace the badly damaged planks in the center of our floor. It cannot be done. When I asked associated's owner why he didn't just get the floor replaced via his liability insurance he told me he doesn't have liability insurance. And the damages in my crap quality floor was my fault that I must have damaged it. I don't think this is over yet. I wish he was more professional and responsible but the associated owner was rude, angry and he hung up on me. Buy from associated? I wouldn't ever again. Oh I nearly forgot. The owner wants to not charge us for the microwave we bought. He wants to call it even. I take that as a statement of guilt on his part. I called Associated Appliances in Stamford to have my Viking outdoor grill repaired. I explained my issue to Gary. He told me that he would send their Viking expert. The first scheduled appointment was cancelled the night before because their Viking expert was not available. Five days later the Viking expert came to my house. After a few minutes of looking at my grill he told me that it would take 5-6 hours to repair. I told him to go ahead and fix it. Then he called their main office and he proceeds to tells me that he couldn't repair the grill without the technical wire diagram. He couldn't tell me how or where to get this. I called their main service office and was told that they refuse to fix my grill. Basically it was over their head. Because they could not fix my grill they did not charge me the $95 service call. This was nice; however I was extremely frustrated because I thought I was getting their Viking expert, which was certainly not the case. Because of their poor service I would never buy any appliance form Associated Appliance. BTW two days later my grill was fixed by a real Viking expert from another company for $164. It took the technician about an hour. This technician treated me like a customer and his goal was to have me grilling by the Fourth of July weekend. My landlord asked me to go here to pick out a new refrigerator. The person who took the order sent a different refrigerator than the one I chose, without telling me, because it was on backorder. Crazy. Ok.. then the refrigerator shows up very badly damaged. The delivery person made a phone call​ and told me the owner of the company was going to give my landlord a discount, and it was fine. I called the store mysel​f, and thankfully talked to someone reasonable (not the guy who took the order), and said if I didn't want it, I had to refuse it right now, or it was mine. I made the decision to refuse it​ and followed up with my landlord. My landlord said he didn't know anything about it, and of course,​ I should have refused​ the fridge. The reasonable person at the store got the fridge back, and said it looked like a crane was dropped on it, and it wouldn't​ have lasted very long. Now two years later, this fridge is falling apart, and I don't even want to call them. I also have a washing machine from there. I have an intermittent problem, and since it wasn't happening when the repair man showed up, he didn't do anything, and charged for the visit. read more

My husband and I are in the remodel from hell! We started in June 2014 and here we are in frigid February 2015 and still going strong. The only redeeming light was the painless transaction we had ordering our appliances! Not only does Associated Appliance carry every contemporary model of every appliance I needed (refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher), they know everything about them. Sure....I could have gone to Home Depot (and did) but TJ took the time to walk through every model and explained the pros and cons and held my hand through a very expensive process. Plus delivery on my schedule, plus a million calls to find out the specs and dimensions when the contractor wanted to frame out the kitchen and needed to know every conceivable measurement. These guys are the very best at what they do and shame on anyone who does not give them a go when making a major appliance purchase. I cannot say more about their professionalism and excellent customer service. I'm never going anywhere else! read more

I've been purchasing my appliances from Associated Appliances in Monroe. I know I can trust John regarding the feedback he gives me on what I'm looking to purchase. At times I've gone to the store with what I had in mind but after talking with him and answering his questions about what I really need I always end up changing my original idea. Example was I needed a new washing machine and ended up with a Speed Queen; a couple of years later I needed a new dryer and again purchased a Speed Queen. So weird that I have been calling this place all week and look at the reviews that have been posted this week....very shady...and they have seem to make it so reviews can not be posted on google? Worst place to buy appliances! They were of course wonderful through the buying process, but it all went completely bad from day of delivery. We bought complete new kitchen from here after a house fire. All Bosch stainless steel, Fridge/freezer, dishwasher, induction cooktop, double oven wall unit, microwave and beverage fridge. The guys that delivered got the fridge/freezer wedged in our stairway because the were too lazy to remove the doors or bring it in through the back kitchen door slider. They damaged brand new hardwood floors and our new walls. I notified the store in Monroe and they never would come to see damage. As the humid days of July arrived our Fridge/freezer began to rust...everyday keeps getting worse. You can clearly see the damage caused by the fact that the fridge was shoved through a tight area scratched the finish off so now you can see every scrap and scratch. I called the store and they say not their problem to call Bosch. I called Bosch and they said its not their product its the appiance store that damaged it causing the rust. I agree but the appliance store has now told me never to call there again. I put another call in to Bosch and told them how awful Associated Appliance is...They stepped up and are helping me...I should have done some research before buying from them...now as I talk to people from town that have bought from them so many have had problems, so im hoping this will prevent others from having problems with this store. Oh and they say I still owe them $400...the damage to my floors, walls and $3000 fridge well exceed that amount. read more
