As far as we are concerned this is the ONLY place to get e-bikes in Aspen! Luke was outstandingly kind and reassuring - on the phone and in person. For background, we had a lot of trouble getting solid plans on how to get to Maroon Bells during offseason from people around town or even other bike shops. They were saying they have a limited number of bikes available, not sure how to get to maroon bells at the time, or just closed for the season etc. Luke picked up the phone, gave us proper and direct information, and was so thorough in ensuring we felt comfortable on the bikes, wouldn't get lost, and even had insight on the hiking trails around Maroon bells and the lakes. And on top of all that, he was offering an offseason discount which we greatly appreciated! The bikes themselves were in great shape and were super fun to ride up and down! This was the second year in a row I rented bike E bikes for my family to ride to maroon bells. The bikes were great the guys were friendly but when I got the bill a couple days later, they overcharged me $150. This is unacceptable. AV is located within walking distance from the Limelight. We can into town from Snowmass for Father's Day and decided to ride the Rio Grande Trail to Woody Creek Tavern plus. Mike and his son were great to my family. He sized us and made sure that we were safe and prepared. The bikes were clean and ready to go. We rented 2 mountain bikes, 1 comfort bike, and a kids mountain. We rode 20 miles and being from Cleveland, Mike said to add 30% due to altitude. Bought a new Santa Cruz Nomad Carbon from the shop on eBay. It was a good deal but arrived with the wrong sized seatpost, 30.9 when it should be 31.6. This could damage the frame. The ad had no detailed description so there would be no way to know the seatpost being supplied was too small. I contacted the owner to request the correct post and even offered to ship the incorrect seatpost back. He replied "The bike you bought came with the seatpost supplied. We don't want it back." I have never dealt with a shop that wouldn't take care of this sort of thing. Pretty surprising and disappointing. read more

We rented 2 bikes for the afternoon and they were great! So fun to ride to Woody Creek Tavern have a drink and know the electric bike will get you home! Service was great, not inexpensive, but the bikes were in really good condition, scenery was beautiful, a lot of exercise, and wholesome fun. read more

We decided to rent from Aspen Velo after visiting the other local, popular bike shop in town. The other bike shop employee was not very helpful or friendly, so we were hesitant to rent from them. We called Aspen Velo and Luke could not have been more helpful. Upon renting, the staff was great and helped us navigate both our route and how to work our e-bikes. Went in to get a part from these guys but didn't even make it through the door before being abruptly told to leave my bike outside....even if I need service? How about saying hello first? Or checking what I need? Left my bike outside and proceeded to stand there like a ghost with no one acknowledging me until I decided to leave. Aspen Velo is well-equipped and the staff and owner are extremely good and helpful at customer service. My negative experience occurred when my traveling companion rode one of their bikes for ten minutes and found she was not comfortable on it. The owner refused to not charge her for the minimum two hours. It is completely within his right to do so. However (and despite his offer to give us more time for free the next time), had he instituted a 'return' policy we wouldn't have had to suggest that had Aspen Velo been a bit more kind we and others who read reviews on Yelp would have brought them enough more business to compensate. read more

Quoted $150 to have a bike packed up for shipping (no, not including shipping). This would require: 1 Cardboard box. 1 Roll of bubble wrap. ~10 Zipties. Some Tape. ~20-30 minutes labor. Sorry, but even for Aspen, this is outrageous. read more

We've rented bikes in a few different mountain towns and this was one of our best experiences. Mike clearly knows his stuff and he's very helpful. We rented his premium road bikes and they didn't disappoint; great quality and well maintained. My bike had SPD pedals already but they put on my friend's speed pedals for him. Gave us good advice on routes and was accommodating about return times. Overall, a smooth experience and great, friendly service. Price was exactly what we expected. We'll be back. read more

If you want to rent a road bike while in Aspen - this place is A-OK Located right in the middle of Aspen (down the street from the Jerome) -its convenient and reasonable. Highly suggest making reservations online days before you arrive: they require a credit card - but, they don't bill you until you return the bike. Rates are competitive - selection of bikes, sizes, etc is very good (from Raleighs to Seven) Bring your own pedals - they are happy to put them on for you & do a 'quick fit' - seat & handlebar handlebar adjustment. One other thing - you will sign waivers galore - including the one about not putting your gears in the 'big/big' position ' - according to the set up guy "you can blow out the rear derauiller and spokes on the back wheel! if you do - I never heard of that one.. but, he rents alot of bikes.. so I guess anything is possible. Finally, You might want to bring a wet rag for a wipe down - my road bike looked like it might have gone off road on the last rental and they didn't clean it. read more

Unfortunately this bike shop is just too convenient due to the location of the trail head start. We always rent here and every year I wish we hadn't. The owner is not a nice person and makes renting bikes with the family a stressful experience when it should be fun. Sarcastic and rude. Dangerous mechanic and irresponsible owner. Brought my mountain bike to fix a chain falling off sometimes. Left bike for my wife to pick up since I had to return to my home town. While she was wheeling it home the wheel came off. We called the mechanic and he quickly acknowledged it was his fault. Apparently the hub assembly had come out. She of course, could of been seriously injured if she rode the bike. Mechanic supposedly looked for the missing part but couldn 't find it. Said he would call me back and didn't. When I reached him he says: "Yeah, what do you want." I spoke with the owner. He suggested I find a dealer who sells the part and he would reimburse me. When I couldn't find the part where I lived, he responded we aren't going to to do anything about. Therefore, what a dangerous mechanic and irresponsible owner. When asked to be responsible they seem to have an awful, spiteful if I may suggest, attitude towards customers. Stay away for safety and aggravation! In my view, a store with their level of irresponsibility should be closed down for public safety. read more

We rented here in 2015 because they had bikes in our sizes. We came back again in 2016 but decided to rent elsewhere because the owner was rude and demeaning. We found another shop with similar quality bikes, lower prices and nicer people. read more

Very unfriendly, not professional, and flat out just rude! You would expect much more from a store owner who has competition around town.
