Would not recommend this place! These people are not very knowledgeable, but will still charge you top dollar. I went in multiple times to try to get my brakes fixed. Each time I went to pick it up when they said it was done, it was like they did nothing at all. They end up telling me I just have cheap brakes & that I need to replace them. I take it to another shop in town to get a second opinion. Within 30 minutes the other shop has it completely fixed... all it needed was new brake pads. Don't know how ute cycles didn't realize this. I bought a brand new mountain bike here and got some shorts with the purchase. First off, I have had to bring the bike into a different bike shop in the first 2 weeks of owning the brand new orbea rallon. The employees here did not take any care to tune or check the bike before they sold it. The brake pads were contaminated by the staff here. Additionally my dropper seat was not set properly, and the the bike has been struggling to shift. Thank god I have a friend who works in another bike shop so somebody can fix Ute City's mistakes. I highly recommend going to Basalt Bike and Ski in Aspen. Not only did they sell me a bike that was far from ready to be sold, but the employees here were extremely rude to me during this entire process. Didn't have the best experience trying to locate and price out a bike. Worked with Tyler and he was extremely helpful with communication on price and availability. I had done some other research with another shop inquiring the same info and was given a significant difference in price. To what I thought was being transparent with both shops I provided the context of the conversation and wasn't trying to get into a bidding war. Little did I know the owner tells me I threw them under the bus with the manufacturer and I shouldn't have done that. How is what a customer does wrong by talking to other shops to find a bike?? And how are customers to know the back channel conversations among shops and manufacturer??? This isnt suppose to be a lesson to dump your problems on your customers bc they were having conversations outside of your business. Not the way to educate and provide customer service. FYI I didn't even care about the discount. I just wanted to make sure the number quoted me was accurate. I would have paid the full price. It's not about the discount for some. It's about the service. Putting your problems as if it is my problem and fault won't get you the business. read more

The worst store ever. This store is not to be trusted. Received a Jersey as a gift and it did not fit. Went to return the item which was in perfect condition tags and all and they would not take it back without the receipt. To make matters worse when I spoke to the person who gave me the gift she informed me that when she purchased the jersey they did not give her a receipt. I mistakenly parked in a spot that was reserved for Ute City Bikes while I was patronizing a business in this complex (it was dark and I din't see a sign). I come back in 3 minutes to find the guy that runs the bike shop has parked my car in. He's cursing at me and yelling that I have to wait until "he's ready to move his car." I apologized for the mistake but he's still cursing at me and then he walks away and leaves me stuck in the parking lot. I'm stuck there trying to explain to my 11 years old daughter who's already upset why this guy won't let us leave. I'm sure it's a pain to have someone park in your space regardless if it was after-hours and only for a minute--that was my mistake and I said sorry. But there are other bike store options in town and I wouldn't take my business to Ute City after witnessing this guy's freakout. It's never acceptable to act in such a profane and threatening manner especially in front of children. Especially about a parking spot. Especially on a quiet snowy night in a what was once a laid back place like Aspen. read more

I've bought 2 bikes here. The bikes are fine, but I haven't been happy with the shop. Labor has ranged from poor to good, but prices are way high, sometimes obscenely so. Initial "custom fitting" was awful-as was pointed out by the next employee who saw my bike. You want to support your local shop, but after being treated poorly a few times, online options and other shops make a lot of sense. Show some gratitude to customers who have spent $10,000 in your shop. Fletcher at Fly and the guy at North of Nell seem to care more about customers-even ones who haven't purchased bikes from them. read more

Took my 29er in for a tune-up, and they installed the brakes UPSIDE DOWN!!! The actual brake shoes were only gripping about half the disc. I could have been seriously hurt!!! read more

I wish there was a negative star option for this shop. Not sure what's worse the way they nickel and dime everyone for overpriced repairs, the bad/sloppy repairs or how very slow they are. It's sad they make a living victimizing tourist but at lease locals know to stay away. The nice thing I could say is they do carry Intense and Yeti bikes and are friendly. Maybe friendly because they're laughing at you. If you wanna make good conversation with a local biker just ask them about there nightmare experience. read more

For the most part, overpriced and pretentious. They give the sense that they don't want you in here unless you're loaded or a pro or both. Since Aspen is full of those people, I suppose that's why they're in business. Do yourself a favor and go around the corner to the The Hub. They're not perfect either, but Charlie's an entertaining and friendly guy, and they probably have what you're looking for, and at the very least are not rude. read more

Mechanical ability. This shop seems to have the best mechanics in town. Its a small shop and there is not enough room to take care of everybody on a busy day, but if you need a fix this where Will the manager is excellent. Horrible customer service. Went in to start building out a frame and the guy said, 'why would I help you get some measurements on your frame? I'm not gonna make any money from you that way unless I build it for you.' Never met another bike person with such a poor, unhelpful attitude. Went to this shop with a minor mechanical problem. The response was total doucheyness with the mechanic telling me he's too busy to look at a bolt and they have a 3 week wait for service. I went next door to the next shop and was graciously treated by their staff with the problem solved in 10 minutes. And in thanks I spent a ton of money in their shop. I've got a Yeti i got from Ute and i've had a few issues, but they're always handled super fast. i've even ridden in while they're SLAMMED and Soraya will send someone out to fix a brake issue or a gear issue while i stand there.
