Once again, the guys from Aspen tree Service have done a great job. My house is surrounded by rentals whose property managers doesn't take care of. A huge branch landed on a playpen in my neighbor's yard. Fortunately no children were harmed. I called Aspen yesterday and the other threatening branches were gone in less than 24 hous! The employee drives like a maniac on the freeway and almost ran us off the road. They crossed three lanes of traffic to get to the off ramp and were still driving nuts once they were off. If the dangerous driving is any sign of potential business practices I'd keep my distance. read more

Rob at Aspen tree service has trouble keeping his word. He has done work for my father in law for a number of years on several properties but has done poor work and incomplete work over the past year. He ignores direction and puts us off if we ask him to correct omissions and mistakes. He will not come back to finish the jobs that were done poorly in the first place. As of today he has not finished a number of jobs that he originally began in September of last year. My father in law called him several times over the past months with Rob always promising to come out THAT WEEK. IT never happens. I have called him myself twice and he is full of excuses but won't show up to do the work he was paid to do in September of last year. I spoke with him on Friday February the 3rd and he promised that he would be out on Monday the 6th of February. Never showed up. I called him this morning which is the 8th and his response to me was "Sir why are you calling me at 9 o'clock in the morning? REALLY? Because you have been putting off these jobs since September of LAST YEAR! There are many other choices in Austin for yard and tree work. Use someone else. read more

I found the supervisor standing on my antique outdoor table (that is not meant to be stood on) trying to trim a tree. Very inappropriate.

If I could give zero stars I would. I met with crew leader, Steve, last night and clearly went over what I wanted - LIGHT trim, raise canopy, remove dead branches.... SPECIFICALLY pointed out limbs which I did not want cut AT ALL. I asked if Steve were going to be here on the job... "yes ma'm. I'm here with the crew. I understand, we'll only remove the branches growing straight down." Again, I stressed ... light trim, etc... as I do not want any major work, I like the natural look of my trees. Fast forward to this morning, I return to to find "the crew" finishing up.... I'm in tears and shaking I'm so angry. Huge limbs that were 4 inches in diameter were cut off my trees... They removed beautiful, healthy limbs that I specifically indicated were to be left untouched. And then Steve pulls up in his truck... clearly he had NOT been with "the crew." He's full of apologies and agrees the job I got is NOT the job he was hired to do. Two of my trees look like freakin' Q-tips. The owner calls, tells me "he understands ... the trees will grow back"... I don't think so... 4 inch limbs don't just "grow back" and he requested some payment. In my opinion, Aspen owes me for damages. And so of course, since crew is still here finishing the clean up, but they receive word I'm an unhappy customer, they LEAVE without finishing .... now I get to spend a couple of hours raking up sticks and debris. Maybe they're great if you don't have any expectations regarding the final outcome and give them carte blanche to chain saw out whatever they feel like cutting. But, me? I'm nothing but full of regret. read more

I had nothing but a great experience with this company. I had three bids to cut down a huge limb that was dangerously hanging over my neighbors house. Aspen was the most reasonable, and I decided to go with them, after they provided me with proof of insurance and a firm bid that was spelled out in writing. They did show up a few minutes late, but called and said they probably would be, due to traffic. No problem. They arrived and immediately started work which entailed climbing up this limb that was at least 35 ft tall. They not only cut down the limb that was hanging over into my neighbors yard, which covered a big part of their roof, without doing any damage, but they shaped my tree wonderfully, and also cut limbs back from my roof. The tree looked great after all the cutting. After that, they hauled all of the limbs to the trailer, including all the little ones. All in all, it took about 2 hours with a crew of 3. I highly recommend this company. Be sure and ask for Steve. Very personable and professional. And no, I am not affiliated with this company......this was first time to use them, and it won't be my last. Thanks Aspen! read more

My experience with Aspen Tree Service has been terrible. I had to remind Rob no less than 4 times to actually complete he job he promised he would complete. He promised me multiple times it would be completed and didn't follow through until I had called, emailed, and texted him numerous times. After he finally completed the job and charged me 25% more than his estimate I asked him for a receipt. Which he promised he would send multiple times. After having asked him 8 times (yes 8 times) over a period of a week he told me to "please relax." Absolutely terrible response and unprofessional service. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Rob cut some trees THREE weeks ago, cheerfully cashed my check and STILL HASN'T PICKED UP THE BRANCHES. I've left several messages with no reply. I am writing this while I still have tree branches in my yard, two days after the project was supposed to be done. This was my third time using Aspen Tree Service so I thought they did good work, however after this experience I will never use them again and I would HIGHLY recommend you use a different service. Not only did Robert lie to me several times he also said that I should accept a sub par job because he gave me a "deal." When I told him I was dissatisfied with the job and that they didn't do a clean cut on my tree he said they wouldn't fix it and that they will be by in an hour to pick up the branches and collect payment. (We'll see if that actually happens because they still haven't arrived.) So to sum up they have inconsistent service and will not stand behind their work. read more

****beware**** i won't even give this company a star. he was given +/- $2k from my husband for work on his office/warehouse project. he worked 1/2 day and never showed back up and never returned a single phone call. he also is evading giving his w-9 information for us to report to the irs. i would not trust this company again. i would hate for anyone to be cheated like we have been. and we are not even asking for the $ back. only the w-9 in order for us to file our 1096 to the irs. we do everything on the up and up and we could truly have gone after him for the $ back. read more

To date: This was the absolute most unprofessional company I have ever done business with in my entire life. Geez,, where do I even start?! They didn't show up for work for days after the project was scheduled to begin. (of course time was of the essence) The first crew who showed up only worked for three hours on a Friday because they didn't bring any gasoline or oil for their chainsaws.. (Geniuses) I needed them at 9 AM every morning. Instead what I got was a crew who were habitually hours and I mean HOURS late, and they would habitually leave hours before 5 PM. Why do I have to sit out there and babysit grown men when I'm paying thousands of dollars?! The "regional manager" Rob, was the absolute worst.. Excuse after excuse. Zero leadership, pride, professionalism, or accountability. With at least another day left of work, but DEMANDING payment, They left the job incomplete. They took down a section of my fence line (without permission) and left it down after moving there equipment out. They also left several big piles of debris AND over half an acre of thick cedar trees they cut down (which became a rattlesnake habitat) for me to remove personally. If you're still considering ATS, just read the other posts about them that were NOT added to they're score because the people posting didn't have enough reviews. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! The crew, themselves, are hard-working and do a good job. The owner, Rob, however, does not honor his guarantee or his word. They did some very specific tree trimming for me in July. As they were almost finished and I had to leave for an appointment (they were supposed to have shown 2 days prior), I specifically pointed out FOR THE THIRD TIME the most important things that needed trimming (branches scraping the roof). Rob assured me they had it, I paid him, and left. When I returned home, I saw branches scraping the roof--they had apparently left when I did. It is now October and I have called and called Rob to come finish. Each time he assures me that he'll be here today, tomorrow, come do it personally, and has even twice told me he is on the road to my house and should be here in a few minutes. As I become more persistent, he becomes more hostile, finally blaming me for not telling him about it while they were here. Not doing a complete job is one thing, but to blatantly and repeatedly lie to a customer speaks to the character of the company and its owner. Not only would I NEVER use this company again or recommend them, I would ACTIVELY discourage anyone from even thinking of using them. read more

If I could give a negative score on this business, I would. Please read all of the below if you are considering using them for any service. ******* We got a bid from Aspen Tree Services to perform trimming and removal of branches on our trees in our back yard as well as removal of remaining sod in back yard and full replacement of sod with St Augustine sod. They bid $1400 for the entire job for the tree services in the back yard and for the removal and replacement of sod in the back yard. We got this bid from them on 4/22/15. My wife did let me know that the guy(Rob) sounded over eager to get the job and she was a little worried about that. I should have listened to her better and probably looked up reviews on the web. We agreed verbally to the work getting done and they began the tree work on Friday, 4/24/15. When they were at the house, the woman with the company(can't remember her name) asked that we pay them $1000 for the work performed at that point after they were done with the trees so that they would be able to pay their people. We made the HUGE MISTAKE by doing so. They said that they would be back the next day to lay in the grass(Saturday 4/25/15). Then the next day we called them and asked where they were. They said that the grass company that they buy from was closed that day so they would be back Monday. At that point, we probably should have started to worry. Then Monday they did not show up, siting weather problems. They said they would be back Tuesday, then Tuesday they did not show up still siting weather issues with the sod being too wet. We still thought that was fine as it did rain on Sunday and Monday. Then Wednesday, after them not showing up AGAIN, I called and the guy Rob was pretty agitated and aggressive with me on the phone when I asked the status. At that point, I felt that we were in a bad situation with how he was acting. So, he then told me that they would be out for sure on Thursday to complete the job. Thursday comes about and he goes to our house and tells my wife that he did not know that they scraped our lawn with shovels(it was in the verbal agreement and in numerous texts that they were to rototill the yard) and tells my wife that it is going to cost us $1500 more dollars now to finish the work. Complete and total scam by these people! THEY are the ones that measured our lawn, THEY are the ones that bid the job, THEY are the ones that took our $1000 check and cashed it. THEN they try to change the rules of the game in the middle of the game. I looked up information on Yelp and Google on them and similar things are out there. All we expected is that they do what they said they would do, which is to finish the job that they bid, to lay grass on our backyard as we contracted them to do. Apparently he mis-measured the yard somehow with his people and now is saying that we need 6 pallets of grass when he originally said that we only needed 2. I looked it up and talked to another person that does this work and they said that we only need 4 pallets. Either way, his company made the mistake and is now trying to overcharge us by a ton of money. We had another bid for trimming the trees in just the backyard for $700, and these people basically took part of our money($1000) for an unfinished job. We respectfully asked not to deal with them, but asked for the $300 back. He laughed at us at the thought of that and began name calling and cursing about this and that. They had also given us a bid for $1400 for the trees in the back and trees and shrubs in the front of the house, so they only did half of that job and that seems more than fair for all of the headaches that we have gone through dealing with Rob(the owner?). I would definitely do business with them again. Steve (the crew manager) did what he promised and made sure his team did the same. They cleaned up all the limbs and I didn't have to do anything other than pay them. It was helpful to make sure we communicated clearly about which limbs would be cut. The price was reasonable and they were very considerate with meeting my needs/desires. read more

Called and met w/ owner to get quote on tree and demolition work. Quoted a reasonable price and contacted him to schedule work. He said he would return call and never did. Subsquent attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. Very unprofessional...if he didn't want the work, just say so I let me get on with finding someone who does want the work. read more
