I contacted Aspen Eyewear when the $1,569.00 eyeglasses I purchased from them had a small break in the end of the temple piece which goes over the ear. Their response was that the frames were out of warranty--no offer of their expertise or assistance to guide me in the possibility of getting them repaired. I had to research the frame model, manufacturer, and possible eyewear repair businesses on my own. I am very happy to be wearing my successfully repaired eyeglasses again. Our family will no longer be purchasing from Aspen Eyewear based on my experience of their complete lack of interest in a customer after the sale is made. read more

I was very impressed with the skill of the master optician at Aspen. I took in a 10 year old Cartier frame which had a hinge screw with the head snapped off but a tiny bit of the screw body still projecting out. I had tried small tweezers and small needle nose pliers at home with no success. The optician was able to remove what was left of the screw in about 5 minutes, without a drill and rethread. The selection and prices are not much different than the big box stores, frames almost everywhere have high markups and frequent sales. read more

I've bought several pairs of glasses here. The last pair I received was promised on a certain date but was not "back from the lab" on time, so I would call daily to see when they were available. At one point, I asked to speak to the owner. "Jennifer", represented to me by staff as the owner, told me that she had no explanation. This became very frustrating. Finally, several days later they arrived. No problem. I once again needed new glasses so Aspen Eyecare was where I went. after a long search of their stock, I picked out a set of frames. When the clerk went to ring them up, a pop-up came up on their computer and I was told that Aspen Eyecare would NOT sell them to me, per Jennifer. I left. I found a much better selection and great service at an eyeglass place on Pearl St. That is where I spent my money. Aspen Eyecare is, in my opinion, not a reputable place to go. read more

After recent eye surgery for a medical condition and some other complicating vision issues, I was in need of some out of the ordinary correction. I have used a few opticians in and around Boulder in my years here, but Aspen is the one I have the longest history with. I decided to return to them this time to see what they could suggest and provide. The staff had lots of good advice, were extraordinarily helpful, discussed some options with me and we balanced what I thought I wanted to do with what they knew was realistic and I am pleased with the results. Multiple people helped me ever so graciously. I received my first and most important set of glasses today, just in time for some back to back trips. Because of surgical precautions I was not able to be Rx tested earlier by my health provider so this was a tight schedule fit. Just the way it was, but Aspen really came through. After being pleased with this first step, I ordered another option to supplement my vision in some specific sets of circumstances. They knew just what to do. The staff and ownership here are very accommodating, they are up to date on frame styles and lens options, and in a great location with ample parking, a Boulder must have! read more

My glasses frames broke. I'd purchased them elsewhere, and they were at least 20 years old. When I took them into Aspen Eyewear, they told me the frames were beyond repair. But they suggested I look on E-Bay for the same set of frames because they could exchange the lenses if the frames matched exactly. They showed me all the specs for my glasses. I was able to find identical replacement frames online, and Aspen Eyewear switched out the lenses for free. It would have been easy for them to encourage me to buy a new pair of frames instead, especially since their business was undoubtedly down because of the pandemic. Instead they provided free service and I ended up paying a total of $25. I've also been going to Dr. Bollenbacher for years, and he provides great service. read more

This store has a great selection of high-end frames, both glasses and sunglasses. Lots of different brands and styles to choose from, and the employee who helped me was very nice. The reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because of the price. Sit down before you read on... About to plunk down the money for a pair of gorgeous designer frames. My prescription wasn't complicated and I expected to shell out some money for it, but what I didn't expect was that the total cost would be $980+ !! Holy moly, are these frames infused with 24k gold?! Apparently the employee wanted me to buy Nikon lenses which were very expensive and which more than doubled the price of the glasses. No way was I paying $1,000 for a pair of glasses. I found the frames online and ended up paying about $250 total for the same thing, minus the Nikon lenses. Would have been happy to buy from them if they'd offered me another choice of less expensive lenses. read more

The good: 1. They have a huge selection. Seriously, it's a ridiculous amount of frames. 2. The optometrist working in the back is fabulous. The bad: 1. Their lenses are absurdly overpriced. They wanted easily three times the highest amount I've ever paid for lenses. They wanted $500 for my prescription. 2. Their frames are absurdly overpriced. The cheapest I saw were around $200 for a discontinued frame that averages $125 at other places. So at the minimum, I would have paid $700 for a pair of glasses from here. 3. The staff is snooty. The first lady I talked to treated me like I was some imposter coming into her exclusive country club. The next week, I went in to try on frames again. I waited around while the staff chatted in the back. Finally, I got bored and started trying on other frames. A woman came scurrying out with a desperate and scornful, "May I *help* you?" Her tone made it clear that I was doing something very wrong and that she had to stop me before I damaged their precious merchandise. read more

This is literally the best eyeglass place I have ever been to. It is where I got the glasses you see in my userpic. And let me mention that I got the chucky 60s frames in '98 way BEFORE it was all the rage. I am quite the trendsetter. But more to the point Aspen Eye Wear had them before they were all the rage too. So they are nifty-keeno (look that one up young people I am sure it will be the next trendy phrase). When I got these I had just been hit by a car on my bike on Arapahoe and the nice lady that bounced me off her window walked me into the nearest glassest place to get replacements for the ones that had been crushed. As a result I didn't pay but seems the prices were what you would expect from "designer" glasses especially a place toating Aspen in the name. I called three different optoimetrists in the area to see if they could help me. No one else could help, but when I called Aspen they immediately patched me through to the doctor, and they hooked me up with a sample of my exact presecription. Just got a new pair of glasses here and couldn't be happier. I told the sales lady that I was looking for square shaped glasses, slightly funky but still professional and not too expensive. In about 5 minutes I had exactly what I was looking for for a great price. They had a big selection of styles and prices and didn't push for anything more expensive than I wanted. Lost my glasses on the bus (or somewhere, hence the "lost") so was looking for a quick replacement. I had also been scoping out a place to get new spectacles or perhaps some RX sport eyewear. Aspen showed up here on Yelp as the place to go for eyewear. I went on a Monday afternoon, it was quite busy in there, but they do have quite a few employees to help you. I could tell from listening to other things going on that the service varies depending on who you talk to. Excellent selection of glasses, with a wide variety and types. But it still wasn't an infinite selection as I was not able to find a decent selection of safety glasses - actually they had a lot, but none to my taste and not a selection of great variety. Recently I had the unfortunate experience of having the frame of my glasses break. As if that wasn't bad enough, the frame "isn't in fashion" anymore so the $400 lenses are practically useless. I went to all of the chain stores, e.g., Pearle, LensCrafters, etc, and they said that the styles have changed and no one had the frames. However... LenseCrafters sent me to Aspen and...voila, they had parts and a frame that fit my lenses. And it was only $45!! So, why only three stars? While I was waiting for them to put my lenses on the frames I perused the shop and OMG, the frames are SO expensive. I love their selection, and even found a few frames that I would have loved to have bought, but - seriously - for those prices? I'm happy that others find Aspen a great place to go, and if I had deep pockets and didn't need to spend my $$ on...food, I'd consider buying a pair. So, in summary: they're a great place to go if you need help with finding parts or problem-solving a fix. They really do a great job. And I found the staff to be very decent, not as "pretentious" as you'd expect at a store that carries higher-end products. However as far as price goes, if you're looking for a pair of glasses, go in knowing that you'll drop close to $600-900 for your glasses if you want a good fitting, durable frame. Yes, the frames and styles are pretty cool...but you'll pay for that coolness. And for me, seeing isn't about being cool. It's about seeing the cool things in life! read more

Had to return a pair of progressive lens glasses after about six months. I'm sure it was way out of warranty. They honored full warranty and within a week had my new glasses all set up. We happened to know ASPEN from my friend last year since we just moved here, me & my husband both have our new pair of glasses last October. We are very satisfy with the service provided by Velory and her colleagues. Always have patient and give you the profession advices to pick the right frame & glasses. And what's more they even have a children play corner and car sofa to comfort my kid. Then this year, I found my frame bridge maybe not suitable for my narrow nose, come back to find advice and change it. I broke my glasses when I fell while trail running & the clerk at Aspen said they were broken right through the hinge that connects the earpiece to the front of the frame & were not repairable, but when the frames turned out to be on back order, the owner agreed to give the repair a shot & did such an excellent job that I've decided to just keep using the repaired frame and use the new frames as a backup for the next time I break my glasses. Just completely impressed by the technical skill the owner displayed and by his willingness to undertake a repair for which I'm sure he did not receive anything like enough compensation for the time the repair took. read more

Where are all the posts for Aspen Eyewear? They boast of being there 34-35 years. Aspen Eyewear has a great reputation from Heinz who made this business great. I am going to tell the world how his daughter Jen operates the business now that she bought it from her father. This angry woman literally kicked me out of the store as her staff was adjusting my glasses. I bought many glasses there from her father and he adjusted them and did lots of good and memorable things for his customers. This woman boldly asked me if I bought glasses from her store. I said I did not that her father adjusted my glasses wherever I bought my glasses. She said my dad has more patience than me. I have all these people waiting to come in you have to leave. I am recommending you not to do business in this store. Jen is a b----she knows it and enjoys making people feel badly. I would recommend Europtics in Cherry Creek. It is a 30 minute drive and you will not be rushed or treated disrespectfully. Jen needs anger management classes. Get help Jen! read more

Ready for another 80 years! When one of the metal temples on my circa-1936 "Cortland" style semi-rimless glasses by Shuron Continental broke and needed repair, Heinz Ebner carefully (and almost invisibly) brazed the break and installed new vintage-style notepads. Since these were my late father's glasses and he wore them on from high school, through World War II in the U.S. Army, to college under the GI Bill, and for decades of civilian life, they have a special place in my heart and I enjoy wearing them. I have vision benefits though my health insurance usable at another business but I still go to Aspen Eyewear for services such as repairs and fittings and gladly pay out-of-pocket expenses. read more

Bought my first glasses here at 14, just bought my son his first pair here. We love the optometrists, and we love the Eyeware!! Service is outstanding, unless you manage to time it when they're slammed. They give everyone excellent service, no matter how many are waiting. The selection for eyeware is top notch! - it holds up well to fashions in SF, NY, etc. Some reviewers say the prices are too high - have you actually been shopping for glasses?? If you want cheap and fairly hideous, Costco is your place. But just when you think you've seen it all they amaze you even more! My wife and I are overseas. My wife lost her sunglasses and with the current situation we don't know when we will be back in the US. We found someone leaving and Denver coming here but I needed the sunglasses made today. If you are a tortured artist, model wannabe, or fancy yourself just oooooh so special and metro-trendy with deep deep pockets - this is the place for you. Everything in this place is incredibly overpriced. A simple set of plain frames is easily 3x the cost you would find at other places. Plain plastic frames - well over $300? Wire frames upwards of $400? Those who post that this place is "reasonably priced" are out of their minds. They do have some *interesting* stuff, but seriously... does it need to cost over $1000 for a pair of eye glasses? I asked if they had anything more reasonably priced and I was pointed (with attitude) at the budget case with a few dozen frames in a jumble that looked like leftovers from the 80's. I suppose this *IS* Boulder, so everyone has to be just silly about their over-the-top attitude. Unfortunately, those of us on a budget don't meet their standards to qualify as a customer. The ladies are nice enough, but if you are not willing to take their style advice (no, I don't want to look like a freak in bright lime or purple frames, or even those skinny chunky black plastic frames that just exude attitude) they shut down and walk away like you are scum. Go in this place only if you are willing to have your pocket picked or if you desperately need your ego stroked (you are faaaaaaaabulous dahling, just faaaaaaabulous in those). {shudder} read more
