I don't have dental insurance, so after calling around town for prices (ranging from kinda high to…read morejust plain nuts), I ended up taking Glacier's $75 new patient special, which covers a cleaning, x-rays, exam -- the works. So here's the deal. They are super friendly here. Almost over the top friendly. When I arrived, they offered me something to drink, gave me a tour (I was a little confused about that part, let me tell you!), and, when I was taken to an exam room, they handed me a little gift bag with a Glacier Dental-branded insulated cup (which I've totally been using...), at which point I started looking around for the "Punk'd" cameras. But I think it's actually genuine! They were happy to discuss my concerns about x-rays (too much orthodontia as a teenager), assured me that my teeth looked great, and explained everything they were doing. The front desk wanted to take my picture for my file (wait, is this a plastic surgery clinic?), but accepted my "No" the first time without any drama. I only have two quibbles: First, the appointment took something like an hour and a half, which seems kind of long -- between the x-rays, exam, and cleaning, I did get a little antsy. However, I'm assuming that it was because it was a first appointment, so hopefully subsequent cleanings will be shorter. Second, when the hygienist recommended a fluoride treatment, it was a little like fending off offers of product from a hairdresser. I'm self-pay (not that fluoride would be covered under insurance anyway), so I wasn't really interested in spending any extra money regardless of how beneficial it might be. Overall, it was a good "new dentist" visit (and believe me, I've had about 6 of those in the last decade...). They have a nice referral program, so I'll definitely be recommending them to others, and I'm happy to go back for my next cleaning.

Since my first experience at Glacier Dental a bit has changed. It seems that they are very shady…read morewith how they are open with you on pricing. They will send a 1 time only link for bills or for info on your next appointment for security which I understand and appreciate, but it seemed more times than none that I would get the wrong pricings. It seems they care more about getting extensive procedures done than preventative care. I chose to get an extraction which went phenomenal in my opinion, which made me excited for Glacier, but scheduling normal cleaning appointments it seemed like it gradually got lower quality in service. My teeth felt each time overlooked of issues the more cleanings I had. I recommend choosing other than Glacier Dental.

Let me start out by saying I am so grateful for the services provided by this clinic. I've had…read morefantastic service from the male dentist in the Oshkosh office (who has since left). I was happy, excited and thankful for the opportunity to have my teeth cleaned, until this: Christine, the hygienist, called my name in the waiting room. No smile or "hello" from her as I walked through the door. She led me down the hallway to her area, and then extended her arm, and gestured for me to sit in the chair. No words spoken yet. I'm feeling dread. Once I was seated, she started grilling me about what the dentist told me when I saw her a few days ago, referring to teeth by their number. She asked me what I planned on doing about tooth 20. What kind of question is that? For a second time I had to remind her I didn't know to which tooth she was referring, and asked her what she meant (since I just had a cavity removed and the tooth filled). She snapped at me because I hesitated when "trying" to answer her vague questions. It was a most frustratingly bizarre conversation. I almost got up and walked out, but I really wanted this teeth cleaning and some feedback on my gum health. Shocking she actually tells me that she's going to lay me back. Then she sloppily slapped the protective glasses on me, which I found to be a very discourteous and controlling thing to do, since I am perfectly capable of doing this for myself. Next she started complaining to the hygienist in the next area, saying something about wishing someone would do (a specific task) for her once in a while since there are two people currently doing nothing. It was as if she was so over-worked having to clean my teeth while others had down time. She briefly continued to complain about that, at all times, there are two people with "nothing to do" and then mumbled about how the office is managed. I'm still waiting as she's taking forever to read what's on the computer screen. Finally, she starts working on my teeth and immediately says, "I see that you were diagnosed with (naming the specific gynecological condition she saw in my chart)". I didn't comprehend what she was talking about at first because I couldn't wrap my mind about what she was saying. Is she really talking to me about a gynecological diagnosis? I thought how incredibly unprofessional and stupid of her to be saying what I think I'm hearing, not to mention the fact that I hadn't yet received these lab results from my gynecologist. (My doctor called me with the lab results when I arrived home after my teeth cleaning to inform me I had an auto-immune disease.) Christine was gleeful and laughing, so excited to have found someone diagnosed with what she, also, had. She told me about her gynecological issues, and asking me more very personal questions, saying things I won't repeat here. This continued throughout the cleaning. Three times she said laughingly, "I hope this doesn't offend you" not really caring if I was offended or not; she never shut. I just wanted my teeth cleaned. Unfortunately, I knew I wasn't getting a thorough cleaning because she wasn't focused, and she scraped just a few of my teeth, assuming I wouldn't know better. But, she did scratch the inside of my cheek with a tool, and laughingly said, "Oops, I didn't mean to do that" and kept right on talking. She then applied something to my teeth without warning. When I asked her what she just put on my teeth, she replied, "Oh, I'm sorry I should have told you what I was doing but I was too busy talking about myself (laughing)". I would have declined the fluoride treatment if given a choice. When she walked me back to the waiting room she said, so everyone could hear, "If there's a bump there again -- don't pop it!" The good news is she is no longer employed here.
