WARNING! This could have been so simple. Started out well but quickly turned rude and unprofessional. Finance dept quoted me and I repeated the info and wrote it down because my reading glasses broke. Got home and printout did not come close to matching the numbers quoted. Then...the "emergency on call " number? Dr O answered/promised to return my call within an hour and didn't bother. Apparently her time must be more precious than mine. Horrible experiences. Zero empathy here. Liars and cheats. I found out the hard way. I should have paid attention to the other reviews. FOLLOWUP: Went in to get my copies to go elsewhere (lied to about this as well) -everything was going well at the ft desk..until Dr O decides to OPENLY CONFRONT ME ***AT THE FRONT DESK*** in front of employees! WHAT "PROFESSIONAL" DOES THIS?! And the "customer service" numbers that says to please contact them? I did. Twice. They are apparently there to say and do absolutely nothing. How bad can it be? The professionals do great work. When it comes to billing and claims management they are horrible. I have been calling them monthly sometimes twice a month since August. I keep being told that my claim has been mailed.Well today I was told that it was mailed on 11/24. I requested to speak to a billing supervisor they would not speak to me. Told me that I will get a call back...but understand that is is Friday. Yes, 10:00 a.m. on a Friday morning. They expect payment before the visit is started, before your insurance company is even contacted about your planned service. Then they push care credit on you for the full service amount before insurance pays anything. If you go here be prepared to pay all expenses up front and good luck on getting it refunded. read more

Aspen dental let me start by saying I loved my dentist and the staff, My problem is their billing department. Before any work is done they verify your insurance and then you pay up front for your treatment which I did. A month later I got a bill for 185.00 I took this bill back to the office and reviewed it with the staff I gave them the paperwork of what my dental insurance paid and the receipt of what I paid and she too said I didn't owe anything and uploaded everything to their billing office. I didn't hear anything else nor did I get any more bills until I get a text from a collection company for 185.00 so I paid it im not going to mess up my credit. But I did call the billing company to argue the point and put my dental insurance company on the call. Come to find out the billing office did not apply the negotiated rate to the bill. I am now waiting for them to return my money which they say can take 3 to 4 weeks this is unfair to the customer. As I said I loved this dentist office but I no longer trust their billing department. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. Good afternoon, My first appointment with Aspen Dental was in the middle of May. I went in, and we determined a plan to take care of my dental needs. However, before leaving the office at 13516 Hull Street Rd, Midlothian, VA, there was an insurance issue that the young lady told me she needed a day or two to resolve regarding what the insurance was going to cover. According to her, after the issue was fixed, she would then send a link to make payment for the appointments on June 18 and 19. I waited a week and still had not heard anything. I called and spoke with the same young lady, who then told me the same thing she had told me when I was in the office and to just give her a couple of days. Another week went by, and still nothing, so I called again. She went on to apologize and said she would be taking care of the matter that day. This time she did, and another young lady called me, providing an understanding of what I was to pay. The first visit was $100, the second visit around $80, and then the last payment would be for the cap, which we had an understanding I was not to cover yet. I did receive a link on June 16, 2025, at 2:45 PM. An hour after I received the link, I got a call telling me if I didn't pay, my appointment would be canceled. I repeat, this was an hour after they sent the link. Then I received a call and email telling me I needed to reschedule. This is bad customer service. If you needed the money right away, you do not send out a link the same day you cancel the appointment. Also, sending out the wrong payment link after we had discussed the payment is unacceptable. I called them back after hours on Monday, June 16, and again on June 17. No response. You want me to make the payment in an hour, but you don't return calls. As a company, if this is not the way you handle your customers, I cannot understand why you are still in business. That office was rated as a 1, and now I understand why. I hope in the future you find people who are better at customer service. read more

So far so good! The admin staff are great, helpful and friendly! The hygienists are super nice and very customer focused. The dentist has been great, she is always asking if comfort level is good, terrific bedside manner and just today, I asked about something and she said, "I got you, I'll fix it right up" and she did. read more

What constitutes an emergency to this company? I'm in need of an emergency extraction, got a referral from another dentist stating the fact. If I was a new patient, have me in by the next morning, but nope, because I visited a different Aspen in a different state 4 years ago I'm considered an old patient so now I have to wait 2 weeks while in pain. So again, what is considered a damn emergency to this company or any other dentists? I think not being able to eat or sleep, jaw swollen and can't hardly move their mouth without agony falls under an EMERGENCY. read more

Zero Stars. BEWARE of this dental practice. Not only did they misdiagnose me with serious dental issues that I did not have and try to sell me a very expensive treatment plan, but they also fraudulently applied for CareCredit using my personal information without my permission or even informing me they were doing it. The only reason I found out was because Equifax sent me a letter that they could not verify my identity to approve it. I have since filed a complaint with the BBB. When I went to a legit dentist for the work I did need done, I was declined CareCredit due to "a recent application." So not only did they tell me I had dental problems that I do not really have, but they also applied for credit for me to pay for treatment there without my knowledge or consent and then prevented me from getting the credit I needed at the legitimate dentist's office where I eventually had work done. If you call an they tell you they take medicade over the phone that's a down right lie as the lady at the front desk told me they are supposed to tell people yes over the phone..then tell me no when I arrive at my appointment after driving a hour away an I have a horrid toothache that's making it difficult to work and sleep..this company needs to stop the lies over the phone that's crap am I'm Mad af..if this tooth kills me..I will put it n my will my family will sue this company no question asked.. read more

My experience was the office staff was very nice. Dr Oakes is not personal, I felt rushed, nor did she really explain what and why the procedures she was doing. My partial hurts, I have bone spurs all over my mouth that hurt very much. I have called and no one got back to me nor a email. There are other issues as well. Dr Oakes needs to either go to trying to speak to her patients or find a job that makes her happy. read more

In town for Tuesday thru Saturday. Just got a new pair of dentures last Wednesday and the bottoms need an adjustment. Too painful to even wear! Called and was told there are no openings this week. My experience has been the adjustment takes approximately 5 minutes. read more

If you do not HAVE to go there, Don't. First phone call I explained having problems with other dentists telling me they took my insurance. Ater appointment, they didn't. So I expressed this concern, and had to be sure they took my insurance. Well....2 months and $12,000.00 later, I was informed they do not accept my insurance. Never have I ever gone to a dentist and not get my teeth cleaned. The dentist came in and told me I needed 5 different procedures after spending less than 2 minutes looking in my mouth and recommended the most expensive alternatives. Preforms unnecessary procedures to increase charges. Never had any issues with my teeth went in for a regular 6 month cleaning and ended up with a bill for something else. read more

They were fast and mostly affordable. My issue here is with the professionalism or lack of. I brought my husband in. While waiting in the lobby we listened to the receptionist bitch about the other employees. Lol no biggie. MY problem is with the Latina hygienist that had her hands all over my man while he was vulnerable and in pain! This little tart hitting on my husband who came for serious pain, had to deal with this woman with me down the hall. She is so lucky I did not go in that exam room!
