If this business is interested in a public perception of valuing patients and providing good care,…read moreDO BETTER. In booking the appointment for urgent dental care, I confirmed with the scheduler that the practice takes my insurance (high level federal employee dental coverage). I was informed when I arrived for my appointment that they do not take my insurance and was asked to self-pay instead. I canceled the appointment on the spot. Problematic on several levels: 1. Waste of 2 weeks to address an urgent dental need when another practice could have been found. 2. The possibility that treatment will now cost more because of further delay. 3. I had to ask the business manager *not* be charged for the scheduled visit. 4. The business manager, who was nice and listened, seemed surprised at my experience because "the practice takes very few forms of insurance". Nice. 5. Taking time off from work unnecessarily. In a climate of the corporatization of health care-- not a good look if the goal is to convince the public that the business cares about the community it "serves".

I had an issue during my recovery and he was able to see me the VERY next day. He explains everything in a way easy to understand, and matches his explanations to your level of medical knowledge. He wasn't incredibly familiar with a genetic condition in my family SO HE LOOKED IT UP. At my second consult, you could tell that he had actually reviewed my chart from my previous surgery before the appointment because he referred back to a few things that because of my genetic issue would need to be adjusted with the sedation. That a doctor would pay that much attention to/for me was amazing. He's got a great bedside manner, smiling/laughing/joking and REALLY put me at ease. He also understands that deep fear of dentists some people have, and works hard to put you at ease. His entire staff is phenomenal!

Admittedly somewhat hesitant, I chose a local only. Dr. Woodard made the entire procedure pain free and was kind, communicative and thoroughly professional at all times, as was the assistant. Being relatively new to the area, I 'tried' two other dental practices before going to Commonwealth Dentistry. I will not need to look any further. The entire staff are the ' best of the best' and I can't say enough about the quality of care with Dr. McKenzie Woodard! Thank you!

From my initial email inquiring on service I was able to get in for a new patient appointment and cleaning. My appointment went great. The staff was all phenomenal and polite, and the actual dental work was exceptional. I felt it was very thorough and left feeling confident that my smile is being taken care of. I was also able to get in next day to get molds for a much needed new retainer, as the one I had was falling apart in my mouth. Everything went great and super quick. I was in and out. Even with my top set giving us trouble, the staff hung on and never lost patience. Wonderful. If you are in the market for a new dentist, look no further. Commonwealth Dentistry is the best!

The bull dogs at the payment desk are worthless. When I asked for a printout of the charges and a break down, they were unable to provide it. All I got was a piece of paper telling me what I owed period. They couldn't explain anything only that this is what I owed, period end of discussion. I ended up going to going to Dr Gardener by default after Dr Reed moved back to California. They tried over charging me for my bridge by charging more than the insurance paid and then argued with me. Dr Gardener is about as friendly as rock. I needed a bridge and they make them in the office, and you come back that afternoon to have it put in. These crowns are rough and never feel clean even after brushing. I had a single crown done before I had the bridge put in and I went back 5 times to get it adjusted. I explained the problem I was having, and they never got it right. I finely gave up and went to a new dentist, and she fixed it correctly. Sadly, there was a cavity that was not taken care of when they did the crown, and I had to have it removed by my new dentist and a new crown. If I were you, I would avoid them at all cost.

My last crown with them was awful. My jaw was visibly swollen for days and now very cold sensitive. The office manager will tell you anything to get you off the phone. It took 3 months to receive my over payment refund. Also reported this to my dental insurance company. Won't return and have contacted another dental practice.

I had a terrible experience at this dental office. Before my procedure, the financial coordinator…read moregave me an amount based on my insurance and asked if I wanted to proceed. I agreed, and at checkout, they circled another amount, telling me, 'You do not owe this. I paid the amount they instructed. They did not tell me that I should expect to receive another bill. A month later, I got a bill for that circled amount. I called, and we played phone tag. They finally left a message saying it was a miscommunication and that after insurance adjustments, this was the real amount I owed. I planned to pay at my next appointment, but instead, they sent it to collections. When I got the collection notice, I called the office, explained that I was going to pay at my next visit, and had been trying to reach them for months. They apologized, and I paid the balance over the phone, but then a $69 processing fee from collections was added. I told them I didn't believe I should pay that since it was their mistake in sending it to collections. They said they would follow up by email or call if it was an issue, but I never heard back. A few months later, I got more text messages from the collector. I called them again, and they said the dental office never updated them that I paid. I called the dental office to tell them they needed to inform the collector, and they said they would. Within an hour, they called me back and said, 'Yes, we figured it out--it's still that $69 fee.' I told them again that I didn't believe I owed it and that they never followed up as promised. I asked to speak to a manager, who apologized for the miscommunication and said they would do extra training for their financial coordinator, but still insisted I owed the fee. I told them I didn't feel I should pay it and to cancel my upcoming appointments. This was my first visit at this dental office, and I don't think they care much about their clients after the way they handled this situation that they cause based on their miscommunication and poor follow-up. I have never experienced anything like this.
