Horrible experience from the front desk to the dentist's assistant, to the dentist himself[Quilez].
Front desk: Some are friendly (depending where you go: upstairs or downstairs) and it depends who it is sitting there. If they are chatting, they will not even acknowledge you are standing at the check-in window. Basically, they lack professionalism and make you feel you are 'bothering' them!
Treatment plan and charges: They fail to give you proper paperwork with your treatment plan. I had to ask about it, and they had no clue there was a treatment plan! CHARGES: This is the big one! BEWARE: A young lady asked me to sign paperwork, and told me there was no charge (from my pocket - the insurance covered both filings. I signed and she left. About 10 minutes later, after the dentist had already numbed right and left side of my mouth, Dr. Quilez's assistant [bully, rude, unprofessional, loud-voice, arrogant) comes in and says that I had to pay a certain amount because my insurance was not covering everything. It was not true! I had already contacted the insurance two days before. And they[insurance] told me to ask the dental office to call them if they had any issue with that. When I patiently informed this young godzilla that her information was incorrect and we needed to contact the insurance; she sarcastically laughed at my face and said: "YOU call the insurance not us! Right now you either pay for the service or you can leave without treatment." And she added that they do not care about what the insurance says; they charge what they are supposed to charge per their chart. The front office lady ended up calling my insurance (after rolling her eyes on me). Insurance rep confirmed that was no charge. Nobody even apologized for the scene they made and the hassle and harassment. After that, I refused to have Dr. Quilez' assistant (did not even bother to ask her name) be by my side while the dentist performed the filing. They[office staff] told me they could not ask anyone else to fill in for her, because she was Dr. Quilez's assistant. Never heard of that, but was not surprised at point. Two hours later, I am still sitting around waiting for their decision. The numbness started to subside, they offered for another dentist to do only one of the filings only, because it was past 4 p.m. - at that point! Dr. Whittman (very nice lady) was kind enough to do at least one filing. I was totally numbed on the other side for almost 4 and half hours, in vain! They told me to come back to do the other one. My initial appointment was at 2 p.m. - I sat there for 30 min. without anyone acknowledging I was there.
They also look at you like if you are from outer space, the first time you set foot in the practice: starting from the front desk to everyone else. Very unwelcoming. I am traveling in a couple of days and needed this to be done - otherwise, I would have walked away immediately.
For a dental office, there was NO one smiling. They make you feel you are a burden to them, just by being there.
Dr. Bob Quilez was not friendly, looked extremely tired and unmotivated, and he was sarcastic as well. An attitude that should have pushed me away - instantly. But I drove all the way there and needed it to be done soon, since I am traveling this month and won't have time.
Overall: I do not recommend this office to anyone.
Dr. Whittman is the nicest one there and did a good job on fixing the cavity. Mandy (hygienist) is rushy when she talks and not very friendly, but she did a great job and was very professional: which is all that matters, sometimes. read more
