After doing our research and looking at the reviews and meeting with Jarrod we hired First Choice…read more to replace our deck with Trex decking and replace our siding and soffit. We gave our deposit on Feb.5th. Job completed on June 12th. What a nightmare! The deck had so many issues most of it had to be redone ( after trying to fix it 3 times and bring in a different crew) and to be honest it still is far from perfect but acceptable. In hindsight we should have cancelled the siding job but both Gary and Jarrod assured us they would put their best crew on the job. Nothing but trouble from day 1. Show up late, & leave early or just not show up at all for days on end. On average they worked 3-4 hours a day with multiple breaks, lunch for an hour or longer etc. The work is subpar. Miscuts ,some too short, some too long. Misaligned pieces and on and on.. Greasy, dirty handprints everywhere and it took a month and a half to do the siding and a month on the deck. Tonight when my husband came home from work a piece of trim had already come off the garage and and was laying in the driveway. The job was just completed on Sat. You have been warned!

I never saw any of their crew put in 8 hours and they were careless in their safety. It's taken 2 years for my grass around the deck to grow back after much reseeding. Do not use them for decking. If ask to use trex make sure you always us the trex fastening system so you can take advantage of their 25 year warranty. They didn't do that. Now I have no warranty or guarantee on materials because they used a different system. Ruin the trex by drilling holes in every slat every foot...33 slats in all. They couldn't get one corner square or fasten anything plum or straight. They screwed in the top handrail using screws that were too long coming through the underside where I cut my finger gripping it. Had to have the handyman cut off all the points flush with the railing. All in all a bad job. Gary has a terrible temper. Single women look out!

A couple weeks ago we were told by Jeff Dohn (who works for Tom) that Tom is filing bankruptcy. The coward, Tom Watkins, hasn't even told us yet. He is unreachable. We've been told that Tom has filed bankruptcy 5 times previously. We have a hole in our roof over our bedroom where the garage was to be tied into our house. We have framing up but no trusses or roof. Our driveway is all busted up. Our retaining wall hasn't been built, supposed to be 10-11ft tall. We have huge rocks all over our yard from the excavating. They abandoned us. We can't reach Tom Watkins in person or by phone. No building permits are on file at the courthouse under our address. Tom Watkins is a scamming thief. Why isn't he in prison. This is theft! We aren't the only victims either. He got $138k to build a barn and left them too. He got a $40k down payment from someone else about 4 weeks ago. He also abandoned some of our friends in Kingston. They owe a subcontractor over $40k for work they have already done at multiple addresses, including our house. That subcontractor name is GC Construction, Karla Perez is one of the owners. Her number is 865-292-4795. She can contest to several other victims to Rock Solid. Whatever you do, don't hire any business owned by Tom Watkins. He's a crook and should be in prison.
