I've had glasses where the coating remained in good shape for 5+ years, but now these are unwearable after 2. Went to a new optician and then found out the frames were way too small, with the temples bowed way out as they reached my ears. Together ,they work as a positive team ,for the betterment of the community. The office is located on route 110 ,across the street from the Firehouse,and next-door to the post office. Let add more detail. I started going to Hauppauge Vision because they were close to my office in Hauppauge when I was working for a major Hi Tech firm. I used them without issue for a number of years without an issue. I thought that they were reasonably priced, friendly, competent, and always provided first rate service. This changed one year. The time came for my yearly checkup and I noticed I had not received a notice from them, which they had been very regular in sending out. So I called and made an appointment. When I entered the office I was barely acknowledged and treated very abruptly by a clerk who in the past I had many pleasant conversations with. They were professional, just not friendly. As they have been in the past. Now I am active in working locally for the rights of LGBT people and I am very occasionally in some kind of media. Well, time passes and my job changed so I moved on to other optometrists. My daughter however still used them, since I had recommended them. This past year she couldn't go in to pick up her prescription, so I volunteered, since I am now retired. Upon entering the office I am greeted with a "What do YOU want" from the clerk who was unfriendly last time I was in the office. So now I was treated poorly again by Hauppauge Vision. I just said I was here to pick up my daughters contact lenses. The clerk reluctantly searched for them, gave them to me and I left the office. One I will never be going back to. So, the only possible reason I could think of that they would cease to be friendly, is because of their awareness of my LGBT status. Now I could be mistaken and they just decided they did not like me for other reasons unknown. I have always paid my bills on time, so it can't be that. Not sure why they would not want all of the business they could get in this economy. So I would summarize and say I would recommend them for non LGBT people. As I said I liked their convenience and service in the past. But if you are LGBT I would recommend you go elsewhere.
