Hauppauge Vision is a neighborhood business that deserves some praise. He has that touch ,that spirit ,you know what I'm talking about ,that makes you feel so very relaxed ,and comfortable. He is accompanied by his lovely wife who works as the receptionist. Together ,they work as a positive team ,for the betterment of the community. The office is located on route 110 ,across the street from the Firehouse,and next-door to the post office. The office is decorated with lovely Objects which they have brought back from different vacation. He has all the latest frames and glasses that you can think of. His prices are on the steeper side but you get what you pay for, and he will work with you. So the next time you're in the Hauppauge area checked him out ,and give your eyes a treat. read more

There should be an option for ZERO stars. Don't waste your time or money. If you're lucky enough to have insurance don't even bother. The receptionist is RUDE, and snippy. Her entitlement to speak down to customers is repulsive. I went in to pick up my daughters bifocal lenses. I was advised by said receptionist that I had to bring my daughter at pick up. I went in with my toddler to pick up the glasses at a scheduled time and the doctor is out to lunch!!!!! WTF. Mrs. Rude with her snarky face said well you can come back in an hour.... Yelp removed my original review because I did not provide enough content. Hmmm, I thought that saying you were treated poorly after they discovered you were a member of the LGBT community was pretty self explanatory, was clear and detailed enough. Let add more detail. I started going to Hauppauge Vision because they were close to my office in Hauppauge when I was working for a major Hi Tech firm. I used them without issue for a number of years without an issue. I thought that they were reasonably priced, friendly, competent, and always provided first rate service. This changed one year. The time came for my yearly checkup and I noticed I had not received a notice from them, which they had been very regular in sending out. So I called and made an appointment. When I entered the office I was barely acknowledged and treated very abruptly by a clerk who in the past I had many pleasant conversations with. They were professional, just not friendly. As they have been in the past. Now I am active in working locally for the rights of LGBT people and I am very occasionally in some kind of media. Well, time passes and my job changed so I moved on to other optometrists. My daughter however still used them, since I had recommended them. This past year she couldn't go in to pick up her prescription, so I volunteered, since I am now retired. Upon entering the office I am greeted with a "What do YOU want" from the clerk who was unfriendly last time I was in the office. So now I was treated poorly again by Hauppauge Vision. I just said I was here to pick up my daughters contact lenses. The clerk reluctantly searched for them, gave them to me and I left the office. One I will never be going back to. So, the only possible reason I could think of that they would cease to be friendly, is because of their awareness of my LGBT status. Now I could be mistaken and they just decided they did not like me for other reasons unknown. I have always paid my bills on time, so it can't be that. Not sure why they would not want all of the business they could get in this economy. So I would summarize and say I would recommend them for non LGBT people. As I said I liked their convenience and service in the past. But if you are LGBT I would recommend you go elsewhere. read more

There's a receptionist here who is so rude and nasty she got an attitude with me because it was the third time as She put it that I brought my broken frames back well too bad they are obviously poorly made and besides they were still under warranty! she went on to reprimand me in how to remove my glasses when I have no other issues with my other 2 pairs of glasses and removing them...everyone else in this store is friendly and professional she needs to go I've witnessed her being rude to other customers as well read more

I have been patronizing this business for many years. I ordered glasses in December, very expensive, may I add...I couldn't read out of them. They made a few efforts to adjust the RX but it didnt work. They scratched the $400 frame with one of their tools. By June with no glasses, I went to another optician for an seconf opinion.and they said their was no way I could see out of the glasses from Hauppauge Vision. I went back with the new RX and they said it was the same RX the using. NOT! The wife wrote Dr. Roberts a note of the difference. I asked for my money back and they refused. I need to go to court now...I am out $637 plus the cost of second opinion. Stay away! read more

I have been a loyal customer for three years, they are professional, courteous and well priced. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for in this instance. Dr. Martin is the best at diagnosing and proper fitting of glasses. They stand behind their products and their service, which is how a small business can compete and win against the big chains. The couple that owns & operates this store are two of the strangest people you will ever meet, and not in a good way. He (the "doctor") made a mistake on my prescription but was able to correct it by remaking the lenses. My wife, on the other hand, was not as lucky. He overcorrected her prescription and refused to accept the fact that he given her a bad examination. She went back and forth with him trying to merely get glasses that she could see through. In the end, he said he was having them remade but never did, outright lying to us and wasting our time. He also refused to refund the money we paid for the frames. My wife went to another optician had they got it right the first time, with no fuss or muss. They try to up-sell their most expensive frames and don't want to bother with you if you pick something a little more affordable. read more
