As a Honda loyalist for 10 years, I've previously taken all my rides to the dealership for almost everything. From experience, I've felt more confident in the quality of service than going to Pep Boys, etc., even if I was paying premium price for parts and labor. All of this changed when my driver's side window conveniently broke after I got off work the other night. I immediately called around for quotes tomorrow morning; the first shop I called was the local Honda dealership. I got the receptionist and left a message for the tech to call me back. The second call was to Asmar's; Linnette answered the phone and gave a reasonable quote on the spot. I didn't hear back from the Honda dealership until four hours later, and only then did I get a broad guess-timate of the labor and parts quote. I brought my car to Asmar's this morning, and they promptly got to work. Linnette got some fresh coffee brewing for me, and they were done in 2 hours. The total cost for the repair was about $200 less than what the dealership quoted, and they also did a thorough inspection of the car for any other issues. Ryan does a great job of explaining anything that his crew found, and it's an honest inspection. In other words, you don't have to worry about getting upsold for work that you don't need. That kind of honesty goes a long way with me, especially in doing business. For the TL;DR crowd: above-dealership quality work and service for half the price. I have a '99 Toyota Tacoma. It started running rough and the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer, they read the scan code and wanted $5,600 to remove the heads, do a valve job and then see what else might be wrong. I took it to Asmar's instead. At Asmar's they took the time to further investigate the problem. Diagnosed bad plug wires causing a mis-fire which was causing the check engine light to come on. I had an oil dip stick that had broken off and fell inside the engine block of my 2005 Nissan Sentra about a year ago. I took it in and had it removed. This place is a rip off! Expect to pay triple and be told you have other issues that don't exist like for instance spark plug wires rubbed through leaking voltage. I declined paying for work and took to another shop showed same written recommendations needed not only had all same work done and saved 730.00 the rubbed wire leaking voltage didn't even exist I looked at all wires not a single one was rubbed. So add another 340.00 to that savings. Total savings 1070.00 with 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on all parts. read more

The employees at Asmar's are truly outstanding! The reason I say this is because of the experience I have had so far. Can I say, Awesome!!! I was recommended by another mechanic repair shop just to do a steam cleaning for the engine because of an oil leak. Which to be honest, I wasn't all too thrilled about doing that... because I wasn't told before I had went to my appointment that I needed to have it done. Super bummed. Luckily when I called Asmar's, I was able to get seen to have the steam cleaning done. So while I'm sitting here in the customer waiting lounge, I'm listening to the other customers talk about their car problems and what brought them to Asmar's. And I got to tell you, nothing but great remarks! So then that got me to thinking: "do I go even dare to go back to the other mechanic that recommended me to this place or do I stay and have everything done?" So then I decided to speak to one of the mechanics at the desk but got interrupted by a phone call. Didn't mind that at all, since he had to answer phone to give some bad news to a customer but I appreciated listening to his honesty. Once he was done, we continued to talk about my car and pricing that he can provide so far... talked it over with my fiancé and ultimately changed our minds about returning to the other shop. This shop really cares for their customers. I'd like to say I'm an observant person. Just watching and listening to these guys and how they interact with their clients speaks a thousand words to me! One of the mechanics took the time to educate me on what they plan to do with my car. He brought me to the back to show me what they were doing and explain what they are looking for. BEWARE OF HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!! My car broke down and this shop was recommended by AAA. After reading the reviews online, I had a positive impression and had my towed here to have work done. My water pump and thermostat were leaking, and I basically needed a whole new cooling system and a tune up. Big mistake!!! I felt completely violated by the estimate I got for repairs. I dealt with a service tech named Ryan over the phone. He quoted the parts and labor for the new water pump, hoses, thermostat and coolant for $2100! And almost $700 more for a tuneup and regular maintenance stuff, mind you some of the stuff is definitely needed, but not urgent and certainly overpriced. I will get some of the other work done soon, but definitely not here. I went online to O'Reillys and Auto Zone to price out some of the parts. Asmar's wanted to charge me $463 for a water pump for my 2007 Pontiac G6. O'Reilly's sold the same one for $60!!! The hose upcharges on the estimate were 4 times more than retail price! Some other parts were 6-8 times as much as retail. As a businesswoman, I understand markups at a shop considering they are offering a 2 year warranty. I also grew up in Detroit and worked in the automotive industry, so I have some basic knowledge of prices for some of this stuff. This was highway robbery at it's worst. I honestly felt taken advantage of. Needless to say, I had my car towed out of here as soon as I could. I don't want to do business with people that try to rip me off. I got a bad taste in my mouth to begin with when he charged me $57 for a diagnostic. Generally, if you are getting $2000 worth of work done somewhere, it's common practice for the company to throw in the diagnostic for free. Give me a break. Ryan told me all 9 of the hoses in my cooling system needed to be replaced because they were original (the car is 8 years old and has 105k miles). He said they were brittle and cracking. Not the case according to the mechanic that actually fixed my car yesterday and two of my buddies that work on cars. They all said I didn't need half the stuff they tried to sell me at Asmar's. I ended up only getting the hoses I needed (just the upper and lower radiator hoses), the water pump, thermostat and coolant, and the wire kit and new spark plugs at the retail store, plus an air filter, all parts for less than $300. I hired a certified mobile mechanic off Craigslist and he charged me $250 labor for all the work and he took less than 5 hours in my driveway. Mind you, I'm taking a risk, but the company is reputable and offered me a warranty on the repairs and I have a one year mfg warranty on the parts, and the mechanic was certified and very knowledgeable. So instead of $2700, I paid $550 for the immediate work I needed done. It will probably cost me another $100-$200 for the other minor stuff I need. Please do your homework people! Don't be uneducated consumers! read more

It turned out to be well-deserved and we've been taking our two cars back there ever since! Ryan is helpful and patient in explaining the situation and it's true, he does seem to want to make his customers understand and feel good. That's important in the sometimes daunting world of what needs to be done to your car to keep it in top shape. His technicians are all polite and friendly as well. Get on their mailing list and you'll get valuable discounts every quarter. We always keep the flyer on the refrigerator because you always need auto service, and it's actually a helpful reminder beyond the little stickers they put in your windshield. Ryan's great honest man! My sister needed a new part for her car and Ryan noticed that the car was newer and should be still covered with Nissan Dealership warrenty. Instead of taking advantage of two young women and charging to replace the part and installed he called the dealership and made sure that it was cover. So if we hadn't gone to him we would have paid 1,000 dollars but instead we paid 0. Go to Asmar Auto Care if you want to be sure to do business with honest people working on your car. I brought my vehicle here for a check engine light that was on. The business is a family business, which is always a plus for me. Dropped off my car around 9:30 AM and the issue had been diagnosed by 1:30 PM. I was charged a very reasonable fee to fix the issue. Only cost that I wasn't happy about was the $98.00 diagnostic fee. Overall, I still saved money by taking it here instead of the dealer. Totally honest people here. And they have a customer shuttle car so they can pick you up and drop you off. Recommend! read more

I picked Asmar's Auto to bring my car to for work, and overall I've been pleased with the work. Every time that I brought my car in for work I received regular updates about the status of my car and if there were any other problems. I can't compare them with a dealership price wise, but I think their prices are fair and the work is good. The only reason I'm rating them four stars is that each time that I made an appointment in the morning with the assurance I'd have my car back in the evening, it ended up being ready the next day. I had to visit the shop recently because I thought I had an exhaust leak. Turned out to be a small hole in a fuel line. I dropped the car off at 3pm I recieved a diagnosis early the next morning & was able to pick the car up by noon. This is one of those stereotypical mechanic shops. Lynette and Ryan were who I dealt with. My car overheated and I wanted to check the head gasket. I called ahead to be sure they could take a look that day and let us know either way if the head gasket was blown. Lynette promised to call by the end of the day and told me it would be a flat $98 to test the head gasket. I didn't hear from them that night, as promised, so I called the next day. Lynette told me we need to pay MORE to get the heater hose replaced and fix the fan sensor wire and do a cooling system flush before we could test the head gasket. I checked with another local mechanic that was referred to me by a friend and he said NO REPAIRS should be necessary to test a head gasket. He said to bring it in and he would test it for free ~ no repairs necessary. After I called Asmar's back to make arrangements to pick up the car, they became very hateful and unaccommodating about picking up the car. Ryan was extremely aggressive and disagreeable about giving me the keys back. He left numerous frantic and irrational (not to mention, unprofessional) voicemails on my phone. Eventually, I was able to pick up the car and towed it to the other mechanic. Sure enough, the head gasket was blown. Asmar's was just trying to milk it for the extra cash. So disappointing that there are people operating businesses like this. BEWARE!!! read more

The guy at the counter was great giving me an estimate for services before beginning to work on my car. He was friendly and personable. They have a comfortable little waiting room next to the office with a fan and tv, and I was offered water. You can tell that they really care about their customers. I had a time constraint to pick up my children and they were very good about taking that into consideration and getting my services done in time for my other commitments.
